Hi there!

It's been 5 years since the blog was updated and even the term itself has fallen off in usage.

Any how, This post is here to let those who are still visiting this regularly,
from what I can tell from the post stats, the links to our most popular posts, the missing game audio and video files for the old Prince of Persia games have been updated.

Now the links only contain files directly in archived format.
No extra steps will be needed now to use them.

Use the latest version of any extracting software like WinRAR or 7zip
Just copy and paste the folders into the game folder and it will work just fine.

Moving App storage to SD Card [WhatsApp, Games and all others] \\

Apps storing their data into phone's internal memory is not a nice option for those who don't have devices with such huge space available and almost every one want to keep their ever growing whatsapp folder into SD card to save some space of phone's internal. If you are one of those people like me who want to make the apps to save their data into your SD card instead of Saving them into the Internal, you are at the right place.

WhatsApp and many other apps tends to store all their application files including chat logs and Media files into the internal memory of the phone rather than keeping that on the SD card. And when there are times like a system ROM format or an update can indeed cause the whole data to get formatted or removed during the process.
With this trick here you can download all your big game data into your SD card as well saving you a lot of space for your games and other apps.
To start with the process we are going to need some tools,

1. Rooted android device (Android 4.0.3 and up)
2. Xposed Framework http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.a....installer
3. XInternalSD module http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.pyler.xinternalsd
4. SDFix https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...dfix&hl=en

IMPORTANT
Xposed needs root access for installation and requires Android 4.0.3 and up

1. Download SDFix from playstore and run the app,

After finishing you can uninstall the app.

This step is for extra precaution for enabling read/write permissions in kitkat.

Open the Xposed Installer and Navigate to Framework.

Install Exposed Frame work to your Phone.

Note : At your own Risk, There will be a warning, Proceed at your Will.

Once installed, Reboot your Phone and go to the download tab

Download the module XInternalSD from there or

Download the apk and install it in phone.

Enable the Module using the Modules Option.

reboot the phone after enabling the module.

Click on the module and Select the options.

Set the Internal path to /storage/sdcard1/Apps (Name as you like.)

The folder name will make sure that all the files and

folders go into that folder rather than making your

SD card a mess with files and folders on the root.

It will make sure all the files are withing that folder.

You can enable the option for all apps and

even select particular apps which you want

to save their data to the sd card.

Reboot the phone. And now you have all your

apps saving their data onto your

SD card instead of Internal Memory.

Ps. All the data will be moved from Internal to SD.

so you don't have to worry about that.

0-Day - Latest software releases.

0-Sec - Same as above, although the period of time between ripping a game or application and it appearing on a warez site is even shorter.

Ace File - The first file in a series of compressed archives (the one you double click on to decompress all the files at once).

Active List - Similar to a mailing list, but uses ICQ to send instant messages to subscribers.

Alpha - Software receives this label when it is in the very early stages of development. Usually full of bugs, so don't touch it with a barge pole.

Anti-Leech - A system which uses cgi scripts to prevent people stealing links and then taking the credit for uploading the files.

Appz - Short for applications. For example Flash 5 or GoLie 5.5.

ASF File - The worst quality movie file format (still pretty good though), much smaller in size than dat or mpg.

Banner Site - Password and username restricted FTP site. To get the correct login details you must click on several banners.

Beta - Refers to an almost finished piece of software that is released to the public for bug testing.

BSA - An acronym for Business Software Alliance, an organisation who are responsible for enforcing anti-piracy litigation. Similar groups in charge of controlling software "theft" include the SIIA, SPA and ELSPA.

BSOD - Many people read about BSODs on bulletin boards and think that they're being insulted, but there is no need to get paranoid. It is actually an acronym for "Blue Screen Of Death". These can occur for a multitude of reasons (old Bill likes to keep us guessing!) and are the bane of PC user's lives.

Bulletin Board - A virtual meeting place on the web similar to a chat room except that it isn't in real time. One person leaves a message then others come along, read it and add a reply. Each new discussion is called a new topic or thread and has it's own link. Whenever a new topic is created the older topics are pushed one place downwards in the list. When someone replies to an older topic it is brought back to the top of the list.

C?? File - File extension that indicates that a file is part of an .ace or .rar series of compressed files.

Cgi Scripts - These are referrers which are used in url’s. When you click on a link with a ?cgi reference you are directed to a sponsor’s website or an anti-leech protected file.

Cookie - A tiny text file (usually less than 1kb), which is stored on your hard drive when you visit a web site. These are used to remember who you are so that you can access members only areas on the site without having to type in a password every time or to retain your personalised settings so that they are available the next time you visit.

Courier - Someone who is involved in the logistics of delivering new releases directly from the release groups themselves to FTP sites.

Crack - A tiny executable file that is used to transform a shareware program into the full version. Also used to remove any copy protection from the main executable of games (this will already have been done in "ripped" warez games).

CRC Error - These can occur when you try to decompress a file that has become corrupt during the downloading process, usually as a result of too much resuming.

Credits - The amount of data you are permitted to download from a ratio site. The more credits you have the more software you are allowed to download.

DAP - A quick way of referring to "Download Accelerator Plus", a free download manager that claims to speed up file transfers by up to three hundred per cent. It works by making multiple connections to the same file and is paid for by revolving advertising banners.Also supports resume.

DAT File - File format used for movies, identical in quality and size to mpg as far as I can tell.

DC - The lazy way of referring to the Dreamcast, Sega's latest console incarnation.

Decompression - Unpacking many files that have been stored in a single archive.

Distro - A concise means of referring to a distribution FTP site. These are huge storage areas which act as a springboard for the transfer of new releases. Their whereabouts are never public disclosed to aid their survival rate. You can think of them as the initial source from which warez emanates.

Direct Downloads - Links to actual files rather than other warez sites or pages. These are usually gathered together from many different sites and put on one page for your convenience.

DivX - Movies ripped from a DVD using the DivX video codecs. Can be played back using Media Player.

DIZ File - Short for description. Very brief text file found in warez archives stating the title of the software, the number of files that makes up the set and the group who released it.

Download (or DL) - Copying files from a web server or FTP site to your computer using a modem.

Emulator - An application that simulates another computer system or console using your PC.

FAQ - Stands for Frequently Asked Questions.

FAW - Abbreviation for "Files Anywhere", a popular, free web storage service.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) - The method used to transfer files from one computer to another using a modem.

Filler - Refers to a person who uploads stuff to pub for others to download.

Flaming - A general net term for "verbally" attacking someone. This can be done via email, bulletin board, chat room or any medium which involves communication across the web.

Freedrive - Virtual hard drive storage area on the web. Free to join and anything and everything can be uploaded or downloaded.

Freeware - Unrestricted software that is downloaded from the net and is completely free to use. Often paid for using advertising.

FTP Client / Browser - A program used to access, upload and download data from FTP sites.

FXP - File eXchange Protocol - This refers to server to server transfer. You can transfer files from one pub to another using very little of your own bandwidth. This is by far the best means for distributing large files, only problem is that a very limited number of FXP capable pubs exist.

Gamez - Pretty self-explanatory this one.

Getright - One of the best download managers available.

Gold - A piece of software is said to have gone gold when the final version is complete and it is ready to ship to the public.

Gozilla - Another excellent download manager.

Hacking - Gaining access to a remote computer without the authorisation to do so. Usually for the purposes of stealing confidential information or the malicious destruction of data.

Hammering - Repeatedly trying to access an FTP site using an FTP client or download manager.

HTTP - Stands for "Hypertext Transfer Protocol". The method you use to view a web page. Always comes before the address of a website in your Url bar.

ICQ - Derives from the term "I Seek You" and is used for real time chat and transferring files over the internet.

IP - 32 bit binary number identifying the position of a computer on the Internet - similar to the URL. The URL is usually easier to remember as it is alpha based rather than numerical.

IP Range - usually referred to when talking about scanning a particular range of ip addresses. They can be broken down into A, B, and C ranges - AAA.BBB.CCC.xxx. Usually an entire B range will be scanned at a time.

IRC - Stands for "Instant Relay Chat". Used for real time chat and transferring files over the Internet.

ISO - An exact copy of an original CD, all the multimedia bits and pieces are uncut and therefore they are extremely large and awkward to download.

Java - Html scripts used to add functionality to or bring web pages alive. These include animation (such as the title graphic on my main page), menus, chat rooms, buttons, pop ups and so on.

KBps - Kilobytes per second - This is what most transfer speed are referring to. One Byte is comprised of 8 Bits.

Kbps - Kilobits per second - This is what most modem speeds are referring to. Why? Probably to make them look faster. Divide by 8 to get KBps.

Key Generator - A tiny executable program that is capable of creating a serial number from a specified username. These are specific to particular applications or utilities, so a serial number created with one key generator will only work for the program for which the key generator was developed.

Lamer - An annoying and overused general derogatory term used to insult/put down anyone and everything.

Leeching - Downloading files without giving anything back in return or copying other people’s links.

Mirror - An exact copy of a web site that is stored on a different server. Using multiple locations for warez sites allows the site to be accessed using a different address if the main site is deleted.

Modchip - Very common website sponsor found on warez sites. They don’t mind their banners being used on illegal software sites because their products are one of the “grey areas” of the law. Modchips are small pieces of electronic circuitry which allow copied games to be played on your Playstation. If a Playstation has been fitted with a Modchip it is said to have been "chipped".

MP3 File - Compressed music file format. Average track size is between 3 and 4 meg compared to 40-ish meg in wav format.

MPG File - The best quality and largest movie file format.

Multi Web Space Faker - A tool used to create lots of free web space accounts simultaneously.

Name Zero - An organisation that offers free website domain names. The main drawbacks are that you have to put up with a very bulky banner residing at the bottom of your page and the fact that you never actually own your chosen address.

NFO File - Short for info or information. Basic text file containing all the important details relating to a particular release, such as number of files, release date, copy protection system, installation instructions etc.

Nuked - A release is said to be nuked if it is completely unplayable. Usually when this happens another group re-releases the particular game, although fixes do sometimes follow on to rescue the game from trash can.

OEM - An acronym for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEM software products are repackaged versions of the full retail product. They are often re-branded to suit the needs of the particular vender and are much more reasonable priced because they lack excessive packaging and a hard copy of the manual.

OST - Not strictly a warez term this one, but one that you are likely to come across while searching for MP3 music. It stands for original soundtrack (movie music).

Patch - We all know games and applications aren't perfect. When they are released we would hope that they have been thoroughly tested for bugs and incompatibility problems, but you can guarantee that many of these will still slip through the quality control net. Once the program is released to the general public, the bug reports start to flood in. A patch is a downloadable executive file which takes these reports into account and attempts to incorporate all the fixes for these known problems. A patch can resolve incompatibility problems, prevent crashes or improve the performance of a piece of software.

Piracy - The replication and distribution of videos or computer software.

Pop-ups - Irritating browser windows that open automatically when you visit a warez site. Usually contain voting portals or porn sites.

Port - A port is a term used when referring to FTP sites and is an essential extension of the address used to access them. If the port number of an FTP site isn't specified the default setting of 21 will automatically be used.

Pron - A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away someone posted a request for porn on a bulletin board, only, because of a typing error what he ended up asking for was "pron". Since then this has become a bit of a running joke and so it is now deliberately misspelt.

Proxy - A third party server which acts as an anonymous go between whenever you request a web page or contact a remote server. The message from your computer is first sent through the proxy server before being relayed to the final destination so that it appears as though the request has come from the IP address of the proxy server rather than you. Used when you wish to maintain your privacy on the net or speed up your connection (much more detailed info on this subject in the "more tips" section).

Psx - A quick way of referring to the Sony Playstation.

Pub - A free for all FTP site where anonymous access is permitted. They are usually used for transferring large files to many people because of their high speeds.

Pub Scanner - Someone who scours the net for anonymous access FTP sites which permit the creation and deletion of files. These are then exploited by uploading software for others to share.

Pub Stealer - Someone who posts the IP address of a public FTP site which they themselves have not built. Some pub stealers justify this by claiming that the elitism of private FXP groups discriminates against those people who do not have access, yet others simply post other people's work to try to claim the credit for themselves. Either way though, pub stealers are despised by the FXP groups and praised by those who would otherwise not have access to them.

Rar File - The first file in a series of compressed archives (the one you double click on to decompress all the files at once). Usually decompressed using a program called Winrar.

Release Groups - A group of people who are involved in cracking and / or ripping software and then repackaging it into easily downloadable segments.

Ratio - Two numbers separated by a semi-colon. Indicates how much data you must upload to an FTP site before you are permitted to download anything.

Reg File - Tiny file that adds essential configuration details into the registry.

Resume - The ability to stop and start downloading / uploading a file whenever you choose without having to start from the beginning again.

Rip - Software that has had all the non-essential gubbins removed to reduce its size. Videos and music are always the first casualties.

Raped - A release is branded with this term if it has been damaged beyond repair during the ripping process.

RM File - Shorthand for Real Media, a file format used to encode video sequences, which can only be played back using the "Real Player". Video clips produced using this format are not of the highest quality, but do have the advantage of a small file size.

ROM - Games which are designed for other platforms, but are played on the PC using an emulator.

Serial - A valid username and password that is saved as a basic text file and is used to register a shareware program and therefore remove all the restrictions.

Shareware - Try before you buy software downloaded from the net.

Spam - Unsolicited junk e-mail. Supposedly stands for "Stupid Person's Annoying Message".

Sponsor - To make some money webmasters can place adverts on their sites. Each time you click on these adverts or banners they get paid a few cents for bringing potential customers to the sponsors website.

Surfer Friendly (SF) - Surfer friendly sites supposedly have no blind links, pop-ups or porn banners. Don't be fooled by this label though as some sites will tell you fibs to get you to visit them.

Sys Op - The person who has the responsibility for running the computer from which an FTP site has been established. When warez is uploaded to public FTP sites and then suddenly goes "Missing In Action" you can often lay the blame at the door of the Sys Op who has an obligation to make sure his/her server stays within the boundaries of the law (i.e. warez free).

Tag / Tagged - This generally refers to the tagging of a pub. A FXP group uses a directory structure to claim it as their own. A general rule is that if a tag is 2 weeks old and not in use it has been abandoned.

Top List - Chart which lists in rank order the best warez sites. Worked out on the basis of votes.

Trading - Swapping warez, file for file via FTP, ICQ etc. Not usually approved of by the real warez community who believe that warez should be freely distributed. To put it simply, it is not the "warez way".

Trainer - A small, executable program which sits in your taskbar while you play a game. Hotkeys are associated with cheat commands so that when they are pressed you are given extra ammo, weapons, lives or the ability to toggle between invincible/mortal modes etc etc.

Trojans - Nasty virus like attachments which can be merged with executable files. These are tiny so are unlikely to arouse suspicion. When run they allow a hacker to access your computer and wreak havoc. Can occasionally be found in warez files.

UBB - Shorthand for Ultimate Bulletin Board, currently the most popular script used for creating warez bulletin boards.

UBB Hacks - This term falsely gives the impression that something destructive or malicious is involved, but when you hear people talking about a hack in the context of bulletin boards they are simply referring to code which helps to improve the functionality of a board. For example a "thread hack" would effect the way in which individual threads look and operate.

Undeletable Pub - An anonymous access, public FTP site where the permission attributes are set to allow uploads and downloads, but do not permit deletion.

Unzip - Unpacking or decompressing many files that have been stored in a single archive. Technically only used when talking about zip files.

Upload - Copying files from your computer to a web server or FTP site using a modem.

URL - Stands for "Uniform Resource Locator". The web site address you type into your browser.

VCD - Stands for Video Compact Disc. Basically these are huge movie files which can be viewed with the latest version of Media Player.

Voting - Members of the warez scene are very keen to reach the number one slot of top lists such as Voodoo, Top 60 etc. and will therefore encourage you to vote for their site to improve their position and get the credit they deserve (or not as the case may be!).

Warez - "Pirated" Full version software that is uploaded to the internet and is available for free download.

Warez Board - Bulletin board used by the warez community to share links and discuss anything related to warez.

Winace - Another utility used for decompressing all the common archive formats. Not great in my opinion. See below for a better one.

Wingate - Similar to a proxy in that they are used to hide your identity, except all information actually passes through the Wingate, if you have a slow Wingate you get slow download/upload speeds. Wingates are also used to force FXP transfer on pubs that do not normally accept FXP, again all data passes through the Wingate so you need one that is fast for it to be useful.

Winrar - Utility used for decompressing .rar files and much more.

Winzip - An essential tool used to decompress warez files.

Zip - A common compression format used to store warez.

Well,It's sad to say but as the title says it, we have to deal with the truth, even when it's hard,
Yes, Our Mediafire account got suspended... and we lost all the files hosted in it.. Including some of our private data... And as you guys know re uploading will take some time so please.. be with us.. and We have switched our File sever to MEGA instead of Mediafire and We are Re-uploading The Files, and as it says.. it's gonna take time.. thank you for the support guys..

How To Download Firefox On a New Computer Without Using Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer-haters often say that the only good use for Internet Explorer is downloading Firefox or Chrome. But if you really don’t like IE, you can use Windows’ built-in FTP support to download and install Firefox without ever opening IE.
Sure, you could just open Internet Explorer and download Firefox from Mozilla’s website, but where’s the geeky fun in that? This trick is about Firefox because Mozilla provides an FTP server, while Google doesn’t seem to.
Downloading Firefox without using Internet Explorer may also come in handy if Internet Explorer is crashing and isn’t working properly on your system.

Graphical Method with Windows Explorer

To access Mozilla’s FTP server in Windows Explorer, type ftp://ftp.mozilla.org into Windows Explorer’s address bar and press Enter.

Navigate to the following folder:

pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US/

You can also just enter the following address in Windows Explorer to go directly to the appropriate folder on Mozilla’s FTP server:

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US/

Now copy the Firefox Setup .exe file to your computer. You can drag and drop it, use the Copy To Folder option in its right-click menu, or do a Copy and Paste.

Windows Explorer will download the Firefox installer to your computer, no IE involved.

You can then launch the Firefox Setup application to install Firefox.

Command-Line Method with Command Prompt

If the above trick wasn’t geeky enough for you, you can also download Firefox using the ftp utility in the Windows Command Prompt.
Launch a Command Prompt window from the Start menu and type the following command to connect to Mozilla’s FTP server:

ftp ftp.mozilla.org

Type anonymous at the login prompt, then leave the password field blank and press Enter.

Use the following command to change to the directory containing the latest release of Firefox:

cd pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US

Then, run the following command to see a list of the files in the directory:

ls

Use the get command to download the latest Firefox installer to your hard drive:

get “Firefox Setup 15.0.1.exe”

Replace the file name in the above command with the name of the current version – this is displayed beneath the ls command.

The downloaded Firefox Setup .exe file will appear in your user folder at C:\Users\NAME.

You can also use Windows Explorer and the ftp command to connect to other FTP servers you have access to. If you have upload access to an FTP server, you can use these tools to upload files – you don’t necessarily need a third-party FTP program.

What is the Registry?

The Registry is the central core registrar for Windows NT. Each NT workstation for server has its own Registry, and each one contains info on the hardware and software of the computer it resides on. For example, com port definitions, Ethernet card settings, desktop setting and profiles, and what a particular user can and cannot do are stored in the Registry. Remember those ugly system INI files in Windows 3.1? Well, they are all included with even more fun stuff into one big database called the Registry in NT.Always make sure that you know what you are doing when changing the registry or else just one little mistake can crash the whole system. That's why it's always good to back it up!

Backup and Restore:

Even with Windows 98, and Windows 95 you can not just backup the registry when you back up files. What you would need to do is run either: regedit32.exe (for NT) or regedit.exe and then click the registry menu, then click export registry. The next step is to click all, then pick the drive to back up onto (usually a removable drive like tape, floppy, cd, zip drive, jazz drive etc.) and then hit "ok". To restore a registry from a backed up version, enter the registry program the same way, click import registry and click the drive and path where the backup is and hit "ok". It will restore it back to the previous backed up settings and may require a reboot.

Note: registry backups are saved as .reg files, and they are associated with regedit as default. This means that once you double-click a .reg file, it's contents will be inserted into your own registry.

What is SAM?
SAM is short for Security Accounts Manager, which is located on the PDC and has information on all user accounts and passwords. Most of the time while the PDC is running, it is being accessed or used.

What do I do with a copy of SAM?

You get passwords. First use a copy of SAMDUMP.EXE to extract the user info out of it. You do not need to import this data into the Registry of your home machine to play with it. You can simply load it up into one of the many applications for cracking passwords, such as L0phtCrack, which is available from: http://www.L0phtCrack.com
Of interest to hackers is the fact that all access control and assorted parameters are located in the Registry. The Registry contains thousands of individual items of data, and is grouped together into "keys" or some type of optional value. These keys are grouped together into subtrees -- placing like keys together and making copies of others into separate trees for more convenient system access.

The Registry is divided into four separate subtrees. These subtrees are called
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS
We'll go through them from most important to the hacker to least important to the hacker.
First and foremost is the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree. It contains five different keys.

These keys are as follows:

SAM and SECURITY - These keys contain the info such as user rights, user and group info for the domain (or workgroup if there is no domain), and passwords. In the NT hacker game of capture the flag, this is the flag. Bag this and all bets are off.
The keys are binary data only (for security reasons) and are typically not accessible unless you are an Administrator or in the Administrators group. It is easier to copy the data and play with it offline than to work on directly.

HARDWARE - this is a storage database of throw-away data that describes the hardware components of the computer. Device drivers and applications build this database during boot and update it during runtime (although most of the database is updated during the boot process). When the computer is rebooted, the data is built again from scratch. It is not recommended to directly edit this particular database unless you can read hex easily.There are three subkeys under HARDWARE, these are the Description key, the DeviceMap key, and the ResourceMap key. The Description key has describes each hardware resource, the DeviceMap key has data in it specific to individual groups of drivers, and the ResourceMap key tells which driver goes with which resource.

SYSTEM - This key contains basic operating stuff like what happens at startup, what device drivers are loaded, what services are in use, etc. These are split into ControlSets which have unique system configurations (some bootable, some not), with each ControlSet containing service data and OS components for that ControlSet. Ever had to boot from the "Last Known Good" configuration because something got hosed? That is a ControlSet stored here.

SOFTWARE - This key has info on software loaded locally. File associations, OLE info, and some miscellaneous configuration data is located here.

The second most important main key is HKEY_USERS. It contains a subkey for each local user who accesses the system, either locally or remotely. If the server is a part of a domain and logs in across the network, their subkey is not stored here, but on a Domain Controller. Things such as Desktop settings and user profiles are stored here.

The third and fourth main keys, HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, contain copies of portions of HKEY_USERS and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE respectively. HKEY_CURRENT_USER contains exactly would you would expect a copy of the subkey from HKEY_USERS of the currently logged in user. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT contains a part of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, specifically from the SOFTWARE subkey. File associations, OLE configuration and dependency information.

What are hives?
Hives are the major subdivisions of all of these subtrees, keys, subkeys, and values that make up the Registry. They contain "related" data.All hives are stored in %systemroot%\SYSTEM32\CONFIG. The major hives and their files are as follows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER

This registry key contains the configuration information for the user that is currently

logged in. The users folders, screen colors, and control panel settings are stored here.
This information is known as a User Profile.
HKEY_USERS

In windowsNT 3.5x, user profiles were stored locally (by default) in the systemroot\system32\config directory. In NT4.0, they are stored in the systemroot\profiles directory. User-Specific information is kept there, as well as common, system wide user information.

This change in storage location has been brought about to parallel the way in which

Windows95 handles its user profiles. In earlier releases of NT, the user profile was stored as a single file - either locally in the \config directory or centrally on a server. In windowsNT 4, the single user profile has been broken up into a number of subdirectories located below the \profiles directory. The reason for this is mainly due to the way in which the Win95 and WinNT4 operating systems use the underlying directory structure to form part of their new user interface.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

This key contains configuration information particular to the computer. This information is stored in the systemroot\system32\config directory as persistent operating system files, with the exception of the volatile hardware key.The information gleaned from this configuration data is used by applications, device drivers, and the WindowsNT 4 operating system. The latter usage determines what system configuration data to use, without respect to the user currently logged on. For this reason the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE regsitry key is of specific importance to administrators who want to support and troubleshoot NT 4.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is probably the most important key in the registry and it contains five subkeys:

Hardware: Database that describes the physical hardware in the computer, the way device drivers use that hardware, and mappings and related data that link kernel-mode drivers with various user-mode code. All data in this sub-tree is re-created everytime the system is started.

SAM: The security accounts manager. Security information for user and group accounts and for the domains in NT 4 server.
Security: Database that contains the local security policy, such as specific user rights. This key is used only by the NT 4 security subsystem.
Software: Pre-computer software database. This key contains data about software installed on the local computer, as well as configuration information.
System: Database that controls system start-up, device driver loading, NT 4 services and

OS behavior.

Information about the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SAM Key

This subtree contains the user and group accounts in the SAM database for the local computer. For a computer that is running NT 4, this subtree also contains security information for the domain. The information contained within the SAM registry key is what appears in the user interface of the User Manager utility, as well as in the lists of users and groups that appear when you make use of the Security menu commands in NT4 explorer.
Information about the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security key

This subtree contains security information for the local computer. This includes aspects such as assigning user rights, establishing password policies, and the membership of local groups, which are configurable in User Manager.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

The information stored here is used to open the correct application when a file is opened by using Explorer and for Object Linking and Embedding. It is actually a window that reflects information from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software subkey.
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

The information contained in this key is to configure settings such as the software and device drivers to load or the display resolution to use. This key has a software and system subkeys, which keep track of configuration information.

Understanding Hives

The registry is divided into parts called hives. These hives are mapped to a single file and a .LOG file. These files are in the systemroot\system32\config directory.Registry

A firewall is basically something that protects the network from the Internet. It is derived from the concept of firewalls used in vehicles which is a barrier made of fire resistant material protecting the vehicle in case of fire. Anyway a firewall is best described as a software or hardware or both Hardware and Software packet filter that allows only selected packets to pass through from the Internet to your private internal network. A firewall is a system or a group of systems which guard a trusted network( The Internal Private Network from the untrusted network (the Internet.) To understand how a firewall works, firstly we need to understand how exactly data is transferred on the Internet.

The TCP\IP suite is responsible for successful transfer of data across a network both the Internet and the Intranet. The TCP\IP suite is a collection of protocols which are inter-related and interdependent and act as a set of rules according to which data is transferred across the network. A protocol can be defined as a language or a standard which is followed while transfer of data takes place.

A firewall relies on the source and destination IP and also the ports to control the packet transfer between the untrusted network and the trusted network. Firewalls can be classified into 3 types:

1. Packet Filter Firewalls
2. Application proxy Firewalls
3. Packet Inspection Firewalls

Packet Filter Firewalls

They are the earliest and the most criticized firewalls, which nowadays are not easily found. They are usually Hardware based i.e. Router Based (a router is a piece of device which connects two
networks together.) Whenever a Packet Filter Firewall receives a packet for permission to pass through, it compares the header information i.e. the source and destination IP address, and port number with a table of predefined access control rules If the header information matches, then the packet is allowed to pass else the packet is direct contact between the untrusted system and the trusted private system.
Such Firewalls can be fooled by using techniques like IP Spoofing in which we can change the source IP such that the firewall thinks that the packet has come from a trusted system which is among the list of systems which have access through the firewall.

Application proxy Firewalls

The shortcomings of the packet filter firewalls are addressed by the new type of firewalls developed by the DARPA. It was widely believed that the earlier type of firewalls were not secure enough as they allowed the untrusted systems to have a direct connection with the trusted systems. This problem was solved with the use of Proxy servers as firewalls. A proxy server which is used as a firewall are called application proxy servers. This kind of a proxy firewall examines what application or service (running on ports) a packet is meant for and if that particular service is available only then is the packet allowed to pass through and if the service is unavailable then the packet is discarded or dropped by the firewall.

Packet Inspection Firewalls

It can be also known as an extension of the Packet Filter Firewall. It not only verifies the source and
destination IP's and ports, it also takes into consideration or verifies that content of the data before passing it through. There are two ways in which this kind of a firewall verifies the data to
be passed:
State and Session.
In case of state inspection, an incoming packet is allowed to pass through only if there is a matching outward bound request for this packet. This means that the incoming packet is allowed to pass through only if the trusted server had requested for it or had sent an invitation for it.
In case of session filtering, the data of the incoming is not verified, but instead the network activity is traced and once a trusted system ends the session, no further packets from that system pertaining to that session are allowed to pass through.

All along you will come across many Firewalls on various systems, basically a
firewall can be established
or setup in two ways:

1. Dual-homed gateway
2. Demilitarized zone (DMZ)

In a dual homed gateway firewall, there is a single firewall with 2 connections, one for the trusted network and the other for the untrusted network.

In the case of a Demilitarized Firewall or a DMZ there are two firewalls, each with two connections, but there is a slight difference in the case of a DMZ setup.
In the case of a DMZ setup, there are two firewalls, the first having two connections, one leading to the untrusted network and the other leading to the host systems like the email server or the FTP server etc.
In the case of a Dual Homed Gateway the untrusted network is connected to the host systems (email and FTP servers etc) through a firewall and these host systems are connected to the internal private network. There is no second firewall between the host systems and the internal
private trusted network.
The basic structure of the DMZ setup declares it to be a more secure system as even if an attacker gets through the first firewall, he just reaches the host systems, while the internal network is protected by another firewall.

Boxopus is a new service that enables people to download torrents directly to their Dropbox account. With clever use of Dropbox’s API, BitTorrent users can add torrent files totally anonymously and without the need for a BitTorrent client. Torrent sites can add Boxopus as a new download option for their users, which some already have.

Founded in 2007, Dropbox has quickly become the leading player in cloud hosting and synchronization services.
The service is loved by many for its ease of use, and thanks to the newly launched Boxopus site, BitTorrent users are now able to automatically put torrent downloads in their Dropbox folder. It only takes one click and the files are downloaded and synced to all computers.
Using the service is easy. People can securely use their Dropbox credentials to pair Dropbox with Boxopus, and add as many torrents as they like. The Boxopus servers will then take care of the downloading and put the completed downloads in a folder.
“Cloud storage is an emerging trend, it’s obvious that sooner or later everything will be in the cloud. That’s why we decided to unite Dropbox and BitTorrent to make downloads as easy as 1 click, without using even a BitTorrent client,” Boxopus founder Alex told TorrentFreak.
One of the main benefits to users is that they can add torrents to their Dropbox from work, school or on the road. The files will then be automatically synced to all computers running Dropbox. Another plus side is that these downloads are anonymous, as Boxopus takes care of the downloading.

Boxopus uses the Dropbox API, meaning that the site has no access to any other files stored on your account. The main downside is, however, that downloading generally takes a bit longer because Dropbox sync speeds are limited.
For torrent sites Boxopus offers the option to add direct integration with their service.
TorrentReactor, Fulldls.com, Vertor.com and Torrentzap.com have already added support, and the Boxopus team hopes that more torrent sites will add a one-click download button to their sites in the near future.
The Boxopus team told TorrentFreak that the service will be completely free and unlimited during beta testing stage. After that, some limits will be imposed on free subscriptions.

6 Steam Troubleshooting Tips

Steam is generally pretty stable, but every now and then you’ll run into a problem. This guide gives solutions to common problems you’ll encounter in Steam, from games crashing or not working properly to Steam failing to launch.
If none of these solutions helps, try Googling the problem – you may have run into a game-specific problem with a game-specific solution or just a more obscure Steam bug.

Validate Game Caches

If a game fails to load, crashes as soon as it loads, or crashes when you reach a specific level, your game’s files may be corrupted. Corrupted files can also cause a multitude of other odd game bugs. To fix corrupted game files, you can have Steam validate the game’s cache on your system. Steam will examine the game’s files and – if any problems are detected – will re-download the corrupted files from Steam’s servers.
To validate a game’s cache, right-click the game in your Steam library and select Properties. In the properties window, click the Local Files tab and click the Verify Integrity of Game Cache button.

Delete ClientRegistry.blob

If Steam itself is failing to launch or you still experience odd issues with games not working properly, you might want to try deleting your ClientRegistry.blob file. After deleting this file, you’ll have to log back into Steam and other local settings will also be lost – for example, you’ll have to re-categorize your games. You’ll find this file in your Steam directory – C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam by default. Be sure to close Steam completely (click the Steam menu at the top of the Steam window and select Exit) before deleting this file.

Change Download Server

Steam periodically detects the closest download server to you. However, these download servers can become overloaded – if games are downloading slowly, you may want to change your download server. You can view each download server’s load on the Steam Content Server Status page. Be sure to choose one reasonably nearby.

To change your download server, click the Steam menu and select Settings. From the Settings window, click the Downloads + Cloud tab and select a different server from the Download region box.

You’ll have to restart Steam after changing this setting.

Set CPU Affinity

Some older games don’t play nice with multiple CPU cores on modern computers. Common symptoms include glitchy, jumpy animations and the animations playing too fast – the game’s animations may even be out of sync with the audio. You can tell Windows to run on the game on only one CPU core to solve this problem – this is referred to as setting the game’s CPU affinity.
The easiest way to do this is by launching a game, alt-tabbing out, opening the task manager, right-clicking the game’s process on the Processes tab and using the Set Affinity option. However, this may not always solve the problem – if the problem has already started occurring, the gameplay may be glitchy until you relaunch the game.
One trick you can use is setting Steam.exe’s CPU affinity instead – when you launch the game through Steam, it will inherit Steam’s CPU affinity and launch with the correct CPU affinity. Right-click your taskbar and select Start Task Manager to open the task manager.

Be sure to change Steam’s CPU affinity back to the default – using all cores – before launching a demanding, modern game. Windows doesn’t “save” CPU affinity between sessions – when you close Steam and reopen it, it will use its default CPU affinity settings.

Disable Steam Overlay

Some old games may also have graphical issues with Steam’s in-game overlay – the screen that appears when you press Shift+Tab while in a game. You can disable the overlay for an individual game by right-clicking the game in your Steam library, selecting Properties, and unchecking the Enable Steam Community In-Game check box.

Disable Compatibility Mode

Windows automatically assigns compatibility mode settings to certain programs – including Steam – when they crash. If Steam detects it’s running in compatibility mode, you’ll see a message like this one:

If you right-click the Steam shortcut and select Properties, you won’t see any compatibility settings being applied:

Windows has hidden the compatibility mode setting it applied – you can only remove it from the registry. First, launch the registry editor by clicking Start, typing Regedit into the Start menu, and pressing Enter. Browse to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers key in the registry editor and delete any values associated with Steam.

Steam should now launch without any compatibility mode errors.

Whether you’re typing an email in your browser or writing in a word processor, there are convenient keyboard shortcuts usable in almost every application. You can copy, select, or delete entire words or paragraphs with just a few key presses.
Some applications may not support a few of these shortcuts, but most applications support the majority of them. Many are built into the standard text-editing fields on Windows and other operating systems.

Working With Words

We’re used to the arrow, Backspace, and Delete keys working with a single character at a time. However, we can add the Ctrl key to have them effect entire words or paragraph at the same time.
Ctrl+Left Arrow – Move cursor to beginning of previous word.
Ctrl+Right Arrow – Move cursor to beginning of next word
Ctrl+Backspace – Delete previous word.
Ctrl+Delete – Delete next word.
Ctrl+Up Arrow – Move cursor to beginning of paragraph.
Ctrl+Down Arrow – Move cursor to end of paragraph.
Mac Users: Use the Option key instead of the Ctrl key.

All of the above shortcuts can be combined with the Shift key to select text.

Shift+Up or Down Arrow Keys – Select lines one at a time.
Shift+Ctrl+Left or Right Arrow Keys – Select words – keep pressing the arrow keys to select additional words.
Shift+Ctrl+Up or Down Arrow Keys – Select paragraphs.
Shift+Home – Select the text between the cursor and the beginning of the current line.
Shift+End – Select the text between the cursor and the end of the current line.
Shift+Ctrl+Home – Select the text between the cursor and the beginning of the text entry field.
Shift+Ctrl+End – Select the text between the cursor and the end of the text entry field.
Shift+Page Down – Select a frame of text below the cursor.
Shift+Page Up – Select a frame of text above the cursor.
Ctrl+A – Select all text.
You can use several of these shortcuts to fine-tine your selected text. For example, you could press Shift+End to select the text to the end of the current line, and then press Shift+Down to also select the line below it.
After selecting text, you can start typing immediately to replace the text – you don’t have to press Delete first.

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Insert – Copy selected text.
Ctrl+X, Shift+Delete – Cut selected text.

Ctrl+Z – Undo.
Ctrl+Y – Redo.

Formatting

Formatting shortcuts only work if the application or website you’re using supports text formatting. If you have text selected, the shortcut will apply the formatting to your selected text. If you don’t have text selected, the shortcut will toggle the associated formatting option.
Ctrl+B – Bold.
Ctrl+I – Italic.
Ctrl+U – Underline.

These function keys are common to most text-editing applications. If you use them in your web browser, you’ll open your browser’s associated dialogs.
Ctrl+F – Find. This opens the find dialog in most applications to search for text — I’ve even seen it work in some applications that didn’t have a Find option in their menus.
F3 – Find next.
Shift+F3 – Find previous.
Ctrl+O – Open.
Ctrl+S – Save.
Ctrl+N – New document.
Ctrl+P – Print.

How to Easily Create Search Plugins & Add Any Search Engine to Your Browser

Web browsers include predefined lists of search engines, but you can easily add your own favorites. Even search engines that don’t offer search plugins can be added with a few tricks, whether you’re using Firefox, Google Chrome, or Internet Explorer.
Mozilla Firefox has an easy-to-use extension that can add any search box on the web, while Chrome has some built-in tools. Internet Explorer users have it the hardest, and need to rely on a third-party web form.

Mozilla Firefox

Here’s how it’s supposed to work on Firefox: You visit a search engine, and use the search box’s menu to add the search engine.

However, this only works if the website exposes a search provider. Some search engines don’t.

The easiest way to add a custom search engine is with the Add to Search Bar add-on. After installing the add-on and restarting Firefox, you can right-click inside a search form on any page and select Add to Search Bar.

Your custom search engine will appear in the drop-down list. The extension allows you to set a custom name and favicon for the search engine, too.

Google Chrome

Google Chrome makes this pretty easy. First, visit the search engine you want to add and perform any search in it.

Next, right-click the location bar and select Edit search engines.

Hover over the search engine you want to use and select Make Default. If you’ve been using Chrome for a while, you’ll probably find a long list of search engines here.

The Keyword field, which you can modify, allows you to search using a specific search engine. For example, if I typed “howtogeek.com web browser” into the location bar and pressed Enter, Chrome would search How-To Geek for articles about web browsers. You can shorten these keywords to make searching websites faster – for example, change the keyword to htg and you can type “htg web browser” to search How-To Geek more quickly.

If the website doesn’t appear in the list, you can try adding it yourself. Perform a search on the website for a query like TEST, then copy and paste the address of the search page into the URL field, replacing the TEST query in the URL with %s.
For example, when you search DuckDuckGo for TEST, you get the following address:
http://duckduckgo.com/?q=TEST
Therefore, the address you need to add is:
http://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer used to support a Firefox-style method of adding search providers from websites, but it appears this feature was removed in Internet Explorer 9. Instead, click the Add button in the address bar menu to add search providers.

You’ll be taken to a page of pre-defined search providers, which you can easily add. Unfortunately, the website only contains a few search providers.

Microsoft’s IE add-on gallery website previously contained a feature that allowed you to create your own custom search providers, but it appears this has also been removed. Instead, try this third-party IE Search Provider Builder Tool, which works similarly.
Follow the instructions on the page to create your custom search provider and add it. You’ll need to visit your search engine, search for the word “TEST”, copy the address of the search results page from the address bar, and paste it into the box on the page.

Click the Install button and your new search provider will be installed. The tool will automatically select the appropriate favicon.

This tool creates an OpenSearch XML file. You could write it yourself by hand, but that would be more time-consuming.

Portable Applications Suites and Collections

There are several portable application suites that provide an way to collect a lot of portable programs and easily access them using a menu system. PortableApps.com, Lupo PenSuite, CodySafe, and LiberKey are some of the more popular ones.
Geek.menu is an enhanced menu based on the PortableApps.com menu. It has some additional enhanced features such as TrueCrypt support, categories on the menu, and the ability to customize the menu.

Productivity

If you need to view and edit Microsoft Office documents on the go, LibreOffice Portable is the way to go. It’s compatible not only with Microsoft Office, but also WordPerfect and other office applications.
There are several options for portable Notepad replacements. Metapad can be run on a PC or from a USB flash drive. Notepad++ is a full-featured source code editor and Notepad replacement with syntax highlighting and syntax folding support and the ability to open multiple documents at once. It supports several languages. FluentNotepad is a Notepad replacement that contains the Ribbon UI.
If you need a minimalist, distraction-free word processor that allows you to just crank out text without all the extra bloated features you don’t need, FocusWriter is a good option. The program automatically saves your progress, and, when you open the program, it reloads the last files you had open, so you can jump right back into your writing. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, and for Windows you can download a portable version from the PortableApps.com site.
TreePad Lite is a free personal information manager for Windows that allows you to store, edit, and search textual data, such as notes, emails, links, phone numbers, addresses, text copied from websites, etc. You enter text into articles that are organized in a hierarchical, tree format. It is easy to use and fully portable.

Image Editors and Viewers

There are several options available for portable programs to view and edit pictures. GIMP Portable has many features. It can act as a simple paint program or an expert quality photo retouching program. You can also use it to convert images among many formats. If you need a vector image editor, Inkscape is an open source vector graphics editor with features similar to programs like Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw.
If all you need to do is view images and not edit them, XnView Portable is an easy-to-use photo viewer, organizer and converter. IrfanView Portable is a compact but fast image viewer for Windows that supports pictures, vector graphics, animated images, movies, icon files, among other types of graphic files. There are several options for portable web browsers. Most of the popular browsers are available as portable programs, including Firefox (the settings for which can be backed up using the portable program, MozBackup), Opera, Google Chrome, and even Chromium, which is the open source version of Google Chrome. You can also use Iron Browser, which is based on Chromium and is optimized for privacy and security. If you need to be able to browse the web anonymously, xB Browser is a free portable browser that encrypts your browsing activities so no one can track where you go and what you do online.
If you are creating a website and need FTP software, FileZilla is a good, free, portable option for a standalone FTP program. FileZilla has firewall support, SSL and SFTP support, and an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP client for Firefox which provides easy access to FTP/SFTP servers. It can be used portably if you install the add-on into Firefox Portable.
For developing websites, KompoZer is an easy-to-use web editor that is based on the same Gecko engine that powers Firefox and Thunderbird. It is similar to Microsoft Frontpage or Dreamweaver. Some of the many useful features are an FTP site manager, color picker, tabbed interface, CSS editing, and a fully customizable interface.
If you want to test out your website from any machine without having an internet connection, you can turn a USB flash drive into a portable webserver. XAMPP is a lightweight, preconfigured server that includes recent versions of Apache, MySQL, and PHP, allowing you to run most websites and web apps directly from it.

Communication

For sending and receiving email on the go, Thunderbird Portable is the best option. It’s the portable version of the popular Mozilla Thunderbird email client. It has support for IMAP/POP and RSS, quick message search, and customizable views.

ImgBurn is a small, portable, but powerful CD/DVD burner that has other useful features. In addition to writing an image file to a disc, you can create an image file from a disc or from a collection of files and folders and write files and folders to a disc. If you’re using a computer that does not have a PDF reader installed, you can view PDF files using a couple of different PDF viewers. The very popular Foxit Reader comes in a portable format. It’s very fast, has high security and privacy, and allows you to annotate PDF documents.
For a minimalistic PDF viewer, download Sumatra PDF. It’s a small, free, open source viewer for PDF, DjVu, and comic files that loads very fast.

Security and Privacy

TrueCrypt is a very good, free program for encrypting hard drives and creating encrypted vaults for storing your private data. There is a way to create a portable version of TrueCrypt and take it with you on a USB flash drive. However, you can only use the portable version on a PC if you have administrator rights on that PC. FreeOTFE is another option for a program that allows you to create encrypted storage vaults. There is a portable version of FreeOTFE available that does not require administrator rights to use.
If you need to access private information such as passwords on multiple computers, KeePass provides a good, secure option for storing your private information in a secure database that can be taken with you on a USB flash drive.
LastPass is a great option for securely storing your login information for websites, as well as other personal information. You can also use LastPass to enter your login information on websites automatically. LastPass is portable in the fact that your information is stored online and you can access it from any Windows, Linux, or Mac computer using a web browser extension. Because Firefox, Chrome, and Opera are available as portable programs, you can access your private information almost anywhere. However, what do you do if you don’t have an internet connection? LastPass Pocket allows you to download your LastPass information to a USB flash drive and export into a protected file on that drive. This allows you to access your information without an internet connection.
NOTE: You cannot edit and re-upload information to LastPass using LastPass Pocket. It is mainly to be used for reference.
Steganos LockNote is a small, simple method for securely storing chunks of information in text files. For example, you can use it to store product keys, passwords, and other private information. It is fully portable because it is one .exe file you run and save as a different name. Put the main program on your USB flash drive and you can use it to store any private text on any computer you use.

Antivirus & Antispyware

ClamWin is a free, standalone antivirus program for Windows with high detection rates for viruses and spyware. The virus databases are updated on a regular basis. However, you must check for updates manually as the scheduled scans and updates feature is disabled in the portable version.
There are a couple of good portable Antispyware programs you can use to protect your computer. SUPERAntiSpyware provides quick, complete, and custom scanning of many parts of your computer including hard drives, removable drives, memory, and the registry. A portable version is useful, even for your own computer, because many of the worst malware infections block you from installing malware removal software or block it from running if you manage to get it installed. The SUPERAntiSpyware portable scanner is saved under a random filename so that malware infections won’t block the scanner. The free, portable version of SUPERAntiSpyware does not include real-time blocking of threats or automatic updates. You must manually scan your files and check for program and definition updates.
Spybot Search & Destroy detects and removes adware and spyware, dialers, keyloggers, and trojans, as well as fix registry issues and clean usage tracks, which is useful if you share your computer and don’t want other users to see what you’ve been doing. Threats are safely removed by shredding and every problem is backed up.

System Tools

Your portable flash drive toolkit can include many different system tools as well as other programs.

It is a great all purpose zip utility that is natively portable and cross-platform. Tasks performed in the GUI can be easily saved as batch scripts, allowing you to run automated backups, for example.
For cleaning your Windows PC, CCleaner, from Piriform, is the best tool for the job. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure. It is available in a portable version and is easy to use. It cleans files from web browsers, the Windows system, and includes a registry cleaner for removing unused and old registry entries.
Piriform also makes a good tool for defragging your hard drives, called Defraggler. Use Defraggler to defrag your entire hard drive or individual files. It’s a compact and portable Windows application that supports NTFS and FAT32 file systems. You can schedule Defraggler to run daily, weekly, or monthly. For an option that defrags automatically and quietly in the background, you can use Smart Defrag. It’s always on to continually and constantly keep your computer defragmented. Smart Defrag claims to have the world’s fastest defragmenting engine that’s been designed for modern, large hard drives.
If you are running out of space on your PC or USB flash drive, SpaceSniffer is a portable, freeware program that helps you understand the structure of the folders and files on your disks and where the big folders and files are located. Another tool to help you see what is taking up room on your devices is GetFoldersize. It allows you to see the size of folders and subfolders on your computer’s hard drive or external drives. For each folder, GetFoldersize displays the total file size and the number of files and subfolders in the folder. GetFoldersize is available in a portable version, but the portable version doesn’t support Windows XP without any Service Pack installed and Microsoft Windows 2000.
While using your portable apps on your USB flash drive, you may want to associate file types with the apps on your USB flash drive. If you’re using a computer on which you can’t change the file associations (such as a computer in an internet café or a friend’s computer), you can use a tool, called Portable Extension Warlock (PEW) to create a database of file extensions associated with the portable apps on your USB flash drive. It creates a temporary drop zone on the screen where you can drag and drop files to open them using the associated programs. It’s not the same as double-clicking on a file to open it, but it’s a happy medium between that and having to open the app first and then open the file.
For help with uninstalling programs, there are two good portable options. Revo Uninstaller allows you to use a simplified interface to uninstall programs, even programs causing problems when you try to uninstall them using the Windows Control Panel applet. There are some features that make it easier if you have a lot of software installed. You can reorder the list of programs, list them by icon or detail, like you do for files in Windows Explorer, and even search for programs in the list by name.
ZSoft Uninstaller Portable is another option for uninstalling programs on your computer. It not only replaces the Windows Add/Remove programs feature, but also finds and removes the leftover bits of programs that have been previously uninstalled. ZSoft Uninstaller also allows you to hide entries from the list that you are never going to uninstall (such as drivers), making the list smaller and easier to manage. It also allows you to find and delete temporary files and empty folders.
Note that both Revo Uninstaller Portable and ZSoft Uninstaller Portable require administrative rights to operate.

Utilities

There are also several options for portable utilities to tweak Windows (Ultimate Windows Tweaker), synchronize, backup, and encrypt your data (Toucan), and create mind maps for brainstorming and organization workflow (Blumind). There is also an easy-to-use alternative to the standard windows file manager, called FreeCommander Portable, with a lot of advanced and helpful features.
If you use the Windows command prompt often, Command Prompt Portable is a simple utility that allows you to have a custom command line setup on any Windows computer.

Portable Linux Software and Distributions

If you want to use Linux but you’re stuck with a Windows computer, you can install a Linux distribution to a USB flash drive so you can run Linux on any PC you come across. Some of the “thumb drive” Linux systems available are Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux, and Fedora Live USB Creator. Once you set up your portable Linux system, you’ll need some apps for it. PortableLinuxApps is a website that provides portable versions of Linux software that you can install on your thumb drive Linux system.

How to Use Your Android Phone as a Modem

What You’ll Need

Accept for a quick download, you should have everything you need on hand already. For this tutorial you’ll need the following items:

Your Android Phone
Your laptop, netbook, or desktop computer
A USB sync cable for your Android phone
A copy of Clockwork Mod Tether Alpha (Available for Windows/Mac/Linux)

Once you’ve downloaded the appropriate copy for your OS, you’re ready to rock. Let’s get started!

Installing Tether

After downloading the installation app, launch it. Although you won’t have to do anything too fancy to install tether you will need to approve a variety of system changes—the warnings look serious but that’s just because Windows Vista/7 is particularly aggressive about warning users.
Click through the installation process, about halfway through a command prompt window will pop up and the installation process will prompt you to approve the installation of an unsigned driver. Approve it.

At the end of the installation process Tether will launch your default web browser and direct it to Tether Drivers sub-page of the ClockworkMod site. If you already have the most up-to-date USB drivers for your particular Android phone, you can skip this step. For everyone else, take a moment to grab drivers for your phone. Don’t see your phone listed? You can always check out the driver list provided by Google here. At any rate, you’ll need to make sure your drivers are up to date before continuing.
If you’ve previously used PDAnet on your computer (whether the trial or the full package) you’ll need to uninstall it before continuing. Tether will not work if PDAnet is installed. Once your drivers are up to date and you’ve confirmed PDAnet is uninstalled, it’s time to fire up Tether.

When you first run it there isn’t much going on, it simply sits by idle waiting for you to start the process. Now is the time to plug in your Android phone’s sync cable and tether the phone to your computer. You’ll need to have Debug mode enabled. Take a moment to navigate, on your Android phone, to Settings > Applications > Development and check USB Debugging. Once you’ve confirmed debugging is on and your phone is connected, click Start in the Tether interface on your computer.
Tether should spring to life; don’t worry too much about the output whirling by in the Tether Log window. Tether will automatically install the Tether application on your Android phone (if it doesn’t you can find it in the \ClockworkMod\Tether\Common\ folder and install it manually).
At this point the USB logo on both the Tether desktop app and the Tether Android app should be green like so:

And that’s it! You’re connected to the internet via your Android phone. No more hunting for Wi-Fi nodes, you’ve got a easy to use tether right in your pocket.

Troubleshooting Your Tether Installation

Although we had a painless Tether installation, it’s still an Alpha release app. We’ve rounded up some solutions to common problems here.
First, when in doubt, restart both your computer and phone. Second, use the task manager to kill all instances of tether.exe and node.exe before restarting the tether.exe—some users report that the first time they run Tether it doesn’t work but after killing the process and starting it again everything is fine.
Getting a DUN Null error? Make sure you’ve uninstalled PDAnet—double check even if you think it’s not installed, maybe you tested it out years ago and forgot.
Connection hangs between phone and computer? Make sure your USB drivers are up to date. It’s possible to have just-good-enough older drivers that get the phone and computer talking but fail to completely connect the two together.

Installation failed? Run it again as administrator and make sure to approve the driver requests it makes.

How 2 Open .Bin files

Hello Guys,
In this post I'm giving you the trick to open up or mount .bin files..
If you accidentally got a .Bin file of a game with out any other files (I got a situation like this once with!)and you were unable to mount that file then read down...

What are BIN Files ?

BIN files are one of CD/DVD image formats.
BIN file is a binary copy of an entire CDs/DVDs disc.
BIN file contain all the data stored on the original disc including not only its files and folders but also its system-specifics information.
BIN image file is not a collection of files or folders but is an exact duplicate of the raw data of the original disc, sector by sector.

See that is the small detail about BIN files I think. Now on Hop to Mount then in a virtual Drive.

How to open BIN Files?

BIN file are supplied with a CUE file. Ex. Data.bin , Data.cue
If there is no CUE file with the BIN file then what you can do is
Create a CUE file using Notepad!!.to do that Open notepad and type in this..
FILE "FileName.Bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
Change the File Name with the name of your Bin file and Click on.
File --> Save as --> Bin file name.CUE

After Following the Steps Click on Save

Now you can mount the .CUE file in Daemon tools and Open up the bin file of your Game Disk.

Note : This will work with the BIN files of game disk's but may or may not work with the .Bin files inside the game folders which are not Disk images but game data files..
