A “Culture Change” (Acts 17:6-7) is the call and challenge throughout the PrideinPurity series. Sincere prayer and a godly walk from those who call on the name of Jesus (Acts 11:26) will assist women of all ages to live holy unto the Lord. My desire is to inspire women from every culture to commit to reading the Bible and preparing themselves for two very important decisions. Salvation first; possessing a surrendered and obedient relationship with Christ. And Secondly, Marriage; waiting on the Lord’s counsel (Proverbs 21:30) before making a dreadful mistake. May the readers of this book and God’s Word, enable young women to share in these principals; turning the world right-side up (Isaiah 5:20).

You know, we need to change the way we talk about Purity.

We have heard it said over and over…
And our hearing has become selective.
We have become deaf to wisdom
Sick of the words: purity, abstinence, chastity

We need to change the way we talk about purity.

“Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
Why don’t we ever read this verse in context?
If you go to Proverbs 4:20, you will see that a mother is giving these words to her son. So…
Why have we made this verse gender-specific?
When two people decide to have sex, the man is not the thief robbing the “girl” of her virginity.
After all, “it takes two to tango”. Just as men aren’t the only ones with an ego. Women too try to fulfill their mojo.

We need to change the way we talk about purity.

We are always talking about the what, but never the why. Breaking up is never easy.
Listen to the lyrics of the songs that you blast when you heart feels like it has been torn from your chest.
U Got It Bad. I’ll Be Missing You. My Heart Will Go on. I Will Always Love You.
When your partner gets every part of you, that bond was never meant to be broken.
That is why “Friends with Benefits” can’t stay a Booty Call
It turns into “Friends with Complications” and you aren’t friends at all. But were you ever?
Don’t be in denial. That is why HE or SHE takes up 75% of your thoughts.
Sex is meant to be sacred between two people, but your past partners that you carry with you have made it a party…of two, three, four, fivesixseven, dare I say more?
Wonder why it is hard to experience intimacy? Why it is hard to truly love someone new? Because you have left a part of yourself that one night when you thought you were with the ONE.

We MUST change the way we talk about purity.

Aren’t you sick of people telling you to have self-control…without offering you ways to do it.
Perhaps it is because they are fighting the same battle.
Let’s go back to that section in Proverbs 4.
“Put away perversity form your mouth”. Dang, he looks good. I can’t wait to see her tonight in my dreams. If the tongue is the rudder, what you say drives your actions.
“Let your eyes look straight ahead”. Careful with that lazy eye, for it is the window to your heart and the view is not so pretty.
Those magazines are calling your name from that secret place. Those posters on your wall with the nearly nude celebrities do more than just decorate the wall. That website fills you with more pleasure than FB ever would. Or what about the slightly erotic part of Twilight that you want to read more than once?
How are you ever supposed to fight this?
“Make level paths for your feet.” Only rooted in the Word of God. Fighting with the sword of Truth is the only way you can walk straight. You are more than a conqueror. Allow the Holy Spirit to not only change your actions, but to transform your mind.

We need to change the way we talk about Purity.

It’s no wonder why so many young people see the church as a group of liars. The whole “God good, sex bad” mentality is far from truth.
If you want proof…go to Song of Solomon. If this book had a rating it would be R. Let me tell you a secret. Sex is not meant to be awkward or shameful.
It is beautiful and fun…Or at least I am told. Because I hold my V card for all to see. Cuz as Beyonce said…you better put a ring on it to have ALL of me.

We need to change the way we THINK about Purity.

You can be a Born again virgin. Jesus can restore your purity if you have already had sex.
Those of you who have not “gone all the way” think you have gotten off the hook.
Let me tell you something that might rock your world. You may think you are a virgin, but you probably aren’t.
You have had sex in your mind and in your words.
There is more than one way to reach home base.
So as a people let us all confess.
Let us all repent.
Let us all have our purity restored.
Let us be washed clean.
Let us walk together, pursuing MORE than purity.
Let us pursue Christ.
For only through him can we EVER feel the excitement and intimacy we have so desperately been searching for.

Amen!
