This razor was purchased as a my first upgrade from the $30 razor level and I am thoroughly disappointed. The shave is the same quality as a $30 razor. In addition, every time I shave little bits of hair cover my sink when I am finished. I have to admit that the Philips Norelco customer service dept. was very generous by sending me another razor after I told them of my troubles. Unfortunately, the problems persisted with the new razor.

I've owned this razor for quite a while now and I have not had any problem with it at all. It gives a great shave and is easy on the batteries. It has a fold out trimmer and a snap-off cleaning brush. It has a screen protector that rotates up when you aren't using it that protects the screen and also keeps the unit from being powered on accidentally. Whenever I am running late for work, which is most days, I get this razor out of my glove box and shave on the way to work. Even got pulled over by the police once and asked not to shave while driving, but you gotta do what you gotta do! I recommend this razor for anyone on the go!

I travel for a living. My son in the U.S. Air force recommended this to me to leave in my suitcase. I have always preferred a "Screen" type razor because it causes much less irritation than a rotary and shaves much closer. I bought my first "PocketGo" Braunfor about 12 dollars at Walgreens. I was amazed at how long the batteries lasted before they ran down. No need to plug it in and recharge, just replace the two AA cells and away you go. I even took it to Italy this summer and saved fooling aroung with the converters and plugs for the 220volt wall sockets. What a great idea. My original PocketGo had a neat little slide out trimmer for those hard to reach areas and hairs you miss that get too long. Too bad someone in engineering threw that out on the P-70 model. A little redeisgn to jake the end square instead of round would have made it work a lot better. This is still the best little electric razor money can buy! $150 for an electric razor??? You HAVE to be kidding.

The Braun P-70 has all the inherent advantages and deficiencies of an electric shaver vs. razor blade. Have a hair the foil won't get, hit it with the trimmer. Hint: Turn the P-70 off, extend the trimmer, turn the P-70 back on. The advantage of the P-70 is that it uses AA batteries, not a built-in battery pack. You can get fresh AA's literally anywhere. Better yet, you can use rechargables.

The weakness of ANY battery powered shaver is the decreased head speed as the battery discharges. The shaver goes from cutting the hairs, to pulling the hairs, to grabbing the hairs. Rechargables can be kept to max charge after each shave. BUT, max charge is only 1.2 volts so you are always starting slower than disposables. Until now. The new NiZn rechargable AA's are 1.6 volts (and come out of the charger at 1.85). This gives the shaver a very fast, very clean cutting speed. The blades on the head will dull and the foil over the blades will wear out with use. And the electric motor will wear out quicker with the higher voltage. I'm betting that the head and foil wear out before the motor and you have to replace the entire $18 unit anyway. This only makes economic sense if you use rechargables for all your AA needs. But, you already KNOW that you should.

Yes it is. Not hyperbole. This is the best electric shaver I have ever used. Comfortable and ultra-convenient. The design is sturdy and ergonomic. Cuts as close as any "premium" electric shaver so there is no reason to pay more. Floating heads and all that super-engineering is unnecessary complication. This shaver does the job and it does it well. Not to say that it is as close as a blade razor but that is beside the point. If you like shaving with an electric, you will not be disappointed with this one. And it is a steal at the price.

I've used Phillips/Norelco electric razors since I switched from shaving with cream/razor about 10 years ago. My beard is moderately heavy - a 5 o'clock shadow in 2 days and I don't use any pre-shave treatment. When my discount store razor broke I decided to step up and buy something that would last and give me a fast quality shave. I rec'd the product on a Friday, charged it like the manual said, inserted the cleaning cartridge and shaved with it for the first time on Saturday morning. First of all, I was not prepared for the noise!! Not quite a chainsaw, but close to a leaf blower!! And the vibration was weird - may be ok for the wife, but kinda rattled my fillings!! It took a little longer to shave than normal, which I accepted since it was new and I was getting used to it. I went fishing on Sunday and skipped the shave, but was back in action Monday morning. It did not handle the two day beard well at all! Besides the pile of shavings all over the bathroom counter it took A LOT longer to shave than it would have with my old $50 razor!! The square head is not very easy to navigate around my nose - and no like most of me, it's average too! Not acceptable for a $200 high tech razor. I'm not waiting 30 days to send it back - I called the company y'day and it's in the mail for a refund today!! To add insult to injury, I have to pay the shipping!!

I have been a blade shaver for 45 years because blades result in a consistently close shave, albeit a bit slow and requiring warm water and shaving cream and a rinse. Periodically, at intervals or 10-20 years I have tried an electric shaver and been disappointed. A month ago I tried the Braun 760 shaver. At first I was skeptical. It comes with a garage that has to be kept in cleaning solution. I thought it might be easier to blow it off to clean it. It looked like Braun was trying to make a living off consumables, like Gillette (relatively inexpensive shavers with costly blades to be replaced weekly. The shaver actually provides a close shave similar if not better than a blade without skin irritation. It is much quicker and does not require softening with warm water or lather. In fact, Braun recommends that you shave before you wash your face. The automatic cleaning cycle seems to work ok with a touch of a button. The cleaning solution Braun Clean & Renew Refills (3 Pack)is relatively cheap (3 for $19 on Amazon)and last for 6-8 weeks. The device charges in the garage and cleans with a touch of a button. It is easy to use, without skin irritation, cuts or much attention, A quick touch uptakes 30 seconds. A serious shave will only take a minute or two. It is painless even if you skip 2 or 3 days. I plan to keep my blade for travel, but I may give that up too.

I have course hair and an extremely tough beard. (I am also thin and fit.) I have had this Braun for 2 months and am less than unhappy. If I shave every day, it is barely acceptable as it leaves hair despite my going over and over my face for 10+ minutes. If I skip a day, it is about as effective as a shoe. It definitely cannot get to those hairs that lay close to the skin regardless of the technique I use. My only recourse has been to follow my Braun "shave" with a straightrazor.

I am all the more disappointed because Braun allegedly has a good reputation. It get's one star only because there is no lower grade.

Greetings, I have used rotary razors for my entire shaving life. I'm 39, Caucasian with pretty heavy facial hair. I finally broke down and bought the Braun 8975 and have used it for a couple of months now every day. I am very unhappy with the razor for the following reasons: (1) the razor cannot shave my face closely; (2) the hair which is shaved turns to powder within the mechanism and slowly dumps out on me while I'm shaving; (3) the charge does not last more than 4-5 uses of maybe 5 minutes per use; (4) the razor is far noisier than a rotary; (5) the clipper configuration is very awkward and nearly useless.

Just my two cents. I'm going to give this Braun razor away and buy a rotary.

I have a fairly heavy beard that especially under the neck wants to grow every which way. I have always had a problem getting a good shave even with a safety razor. I would have to shave from all angles to capture and shave my beard. I have tried many electic razors and have always had to use a safety razor inbetween to feel like I had a good shave. "Braun Shavers Quality" 2009-11-30

I had a Braun Series 5 "system", after about two weeks it started sounding like a buzz saw, and the shave wasn't as good. I used it for about a year and gave up on it. then I bought a Series 3 "system" and have had it about 6 months. Sometimes the cleaning stand won't shut off. Sometimes the shaver won't turn on. Sometimes even after a few days, when I go to shave, the battery is dead. The quality of the shave is great, but I think either their manufacturing or engineering sucks, they have no web access for problems, you have to take it to an authorized dealer (about 30 miles from me), and apparently don't want any feedback from customers. It seems that since Gillette bought Braun things went to hell. I doubt if I'll ever buy another Braun, and it's too bad, because the shave is really great when it does work.

Great shaver. Close without being too close so you don't get any ingrown hairs. This is the 2nd Braun I've had. The first one lasted 15-years with no problems. Would have kept it, but it was corded which caused a problem sometimes because I travel a lot and there is not always an outlet available when I need to shave. This solved that problem and gives me a great shave, just like the other. Hope to have this one last as long as my other Braun.

If you buy a Braun 3 370 from this seller, you will most likely get the Braun 5885, as I did. I contacted the seller, as the photo in the listing clearly shows the model number as 3 370. He referred me to the fine print in this listing that says the model number is actually 5885.

I downloaded both manuals for the out-of-production 3 370 and 5885 from Braun's website and they do appear to be identical. They were probably labeled differently for sale in different areas. Rather than deal with the hassle of returning the item - which I was tempted to do only because I find this situation more than a little skeevy - we're keeping the unit.

SAVE YOURSELF $3 by buying from the other distributor (Big Value Inc) selling it as the 5885. Braun 5885 Contour Series Rechargeable Foil Shaver.

ETA: My husband is very happy with the shaver itself.

My Norelco rotary never did a very good job on my neck without working it hard and causing irritation. I just switched to the Braun and it does a much better job overall with no irritation. I have a heavy beard so it's a good test. The positives- a good, close shave without irritation and gets those pesky neck hairs pretty well. The shaver can be used with the cord and also quick charges if needed. The negatives- Expensive, noisier than the Norelco, you have to buy cleaning cartridges once a month and the charger/cleaner is cheaply constructed. Also be careful with the cleaning cartridges as they spill easily when you pry the cover off. All in all a premium shaving system at a premium price.

I found it with the Braun Series 7 - 790cc Pulsonic Shaver. It is a major improvement over what I have used in the past giving me a good clean shave. I highly recommend the product. I have had the Braun 790 for about a month now and I am extremely happy with my daily shave. No, I don't work for the company just a happy user. I have been using an electric razor for about 15 years. Norelco has been my brand of choice and have had ok results but needed to skip every couple of days or my face would be sore. So decided I would try another brand this time. Based on the reviews selected the Braun. Can't speak about the newer Norelcos they may give just as good a shave but Consumer Reports magazine and the various comments rated this one highly.

What do I like?

-the closest shave I have ever gotten from an electric razor

-close shave every time whether I wash my face first or use the razor first as the company suggest

-no sore neck or face using it daily

-nice cleaning stand that does a fine job

-used on a trip and running hot water on the head seemed to do fine as well

-low energy use when cleaning when I checked it with my watt killer meter

Any concern?

-so far none to speak of

-I am still working on getting the shave on my upper lip as close as I would like. But I am figuring it out

-some mentioned the case not as handy as just a cap over the cutting blade for travel but I have found the case is just fine. same size as razor so no space difference

I am a happy camper so if it changes I will be back with another post.

This razor is well worth the price.

Tried this after many years with Norelco. It pulled and grabbed my chin hairs and it was painful. I called Braun, very nice folks. They sent me a new head. Same problem. I finally chucked it. I tried and tried but couldn't get past the hair grabbing. Back to Norelco and everything is much better....

It shaves better than just about any electric razor I have ever owned. But, the serious design flaw everyone else has mentioned in their reviews is enough to kill any benefit. After two weeks the base of the top section that holds the foil will start developing cracks in the four "feet." Between two and 6 weeks later they will break and then the razor will become useless. Remington will send you a new razor and pick up your old one. They will also tell you it has been redesigned to fix this problem (it hasn't). After the second one breaks they will make YOU pay shipping to them. Avoid this model.

Not what I ordered:

The shaver I received is REFURBISHED IN MEXICO and has a 90 day warranty. No mention of your shaver description say it is not new. Other shavers you sell are clearly marked as (factory reconditioned) or (Factory Refurbished). Battery life is measured in number of full charges and I don't know that this shaver has a new battery.

Defects:

The head protector cover falls off the shaver. It does not fit the shaver head correctly.

Strengths: It is Braun, and normally that means it lasts and lasts.

Weaknesses: After 5 months of daily use it performed so well but the switch on ALL Braun Flx shavers was changed post 5550

Summary: I owned the 5550, and I had it for years. I loved it. I have sensitive skin, and razors, no matter how much I spend on them will chew up my skin, especially around the neck area. My first was a 5550. It worked great for years and alas it died. That is when I very carefully picked my Braun 7526. I considered the cost of solutions. I manage it by only giving it a good cleaning once a week which reduces evaporation. When done shaving M-Sat I remove the foil, remove most of the rubble by tapping it in the sing and replace it. Charge lasts entire week without another charge. I then shave Sunday, and do a clean and charge. Worked great, and I liked the idea of saving on the solution. However a net effect I did not count on was the winter, when it is "cold" season. When I would get a cold, I realized that you can not do under your nose without getting cold bacteria on the foil. So when I have a cold, I clean it every time to avoid re-infecting myself.

However, after 6 months of daily use, the cheap plastic switch mechanism jammed and it stayed on until it died. They repaired it and 2 weeks I had it back. Since then I have been using it daily for months with no issues.

I do notice that my 5550 did give me a closer shave, faster however. But the 5550 was made in Germany, and I don't believe this unit is made in Germany. Perhaps part of it is, but this is not German engineering at all.

The solution can get to be rather annoying to replace, but what I have found works well is I use the shaver daily, and simply open the screen

head, tap out most of the razor stubble, then stick it back in the cabinet. Come the weekend, I drop it in to the base and do a full clean and charge. This will extend the life of your cleaning solution as it does evaporate on it's own, more so if you were to clean it daily, which of course they suggest.

Overall, this is a decent product. If it broke tomorrow, I would replace

it...

The first one got so that it vibrated and shook in less than 3 months. The replacement took to vibrating to the point of discomfort in 6 months. Also, husband went through the screens in about 2 months each; they had to be replaced for the razor to be safe and the screens are not cheap. It's just a bad design.

"Product Failure" 2006-07-13

This product has a small L shaped part, which attaches the motor to the oscillator. It is very small and has small notches on the sides. This part snapped after the shaver was just over 2 years old. Braun wants me to ship (packing time, driving to the post office, extra cost) or drive (45 min) the product to a local repair center, which is obviously not worth the trouble and cost.

Just thought I'd share my experience. I would not buy this product again.

I've owned this razor for 1 year and I am very happy with the results. /the only problem I have encountered is when you change the liquid cartridge, sometimes the new cartridge does not apply the liquid to your face until several shaves have gone by. This is the first electric razor I have bought. I have heard bad things about most of them, but this was on sale for the price of 10 blades (Mach 3) so I decided to give it a shot.

Shaves close! The conditioner is fantastic. It has adjustable conditioner flow and I had to move it down to the lowest setting. It makes the shave smoother and less harsh.

I would reccommend this razor to my friends, and at 40 bucks, a great buy.

Bicycling magazine said this was the best shaver for men's legs. I tried it for the first shave of the summer. It didn't shave at all. OK, maybe my hair was too long. So I shaved with a blade, waited a week, and tried shaving my stubble. Still doesn't shave at all. My massage therapist said that no electric shaver can shave men's legs. I have been using from december 2003. Iam planning to get rid of it as it doesnt shave well under chin. Doesnt work well at neck areas. I have to do couple of times in different directions to have clean shave. I Do not recommend this. Also I feel my beard is growing too fast after using this.
Only the applicator (shaving gel) is great. Also while charging, it doesnt charge completely at once. It does go off and on several times in a day. I keep it hooked to the power outlet.
Anyone please recommend me a good one. After a thorough research, i bought this and my research proved me wrong
