At first glance I had no idea what I was seeing but this three wheel electric scooter concept is pretty slick.

Two wheels in the back, each equipt with their own electric motor, can get you up to 35 mph. The current prototype has a range of 30 miles and definitely has a race bike look and feel. That's all well and good but wait, this electric scooter is about to do a bit of a transformation. Kick it out of "motorcycle mode", tuck the front wheel between the two in back and the UNO can balance on two wheels! It transforms into a Seagway!

Ride to work then tranform and ride the rest of the way to your desk. With gyroscope technology, the UNO can hold it's own and allow easy transportation thru pedestrian areas with a compact, 3 foot turning radius.

A prototype of the Uno III, the latest invention from BPG Motors, will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show, its first public showing. It's aimed at urban dwellers, most likely in Europe, where there is a strong culture around motorcycles and scooters, said BPG Motors CEO Brad Harkavy.

I really don't understand why anyone would say any of the X-140, little cheap electric scooters are just for kids. Sure they are small, sure they max out at 7 mph when I'm on them, and yes they come in pink but pink isn't just a kids color and speed isn't everything. If you're looking for a pair of cheap electric scooters with solid steel construction and an option in pink, the X-140 is a good choice for any age rider. Just give yourself a tight track and 7 mph feels like race car driver speed!

Now, if you're really looking to get yourself around town I will obviously suggest more appropriate cheap electric scooters of remarkably high quality. Washington Monument

500+ feet up in the air in a stone stucture that is completely self-supported, I got an excellent view of our nation's capitol. Take a look at this picture I took and what do you see? I see a lot of space between each of the monuments which means a lot of walking for me!

Though it did cross my mind, I failed to bring my electric motor scooter which meant I was walking. And yes, we walked all over.

I saw so many runners all over the city. There were also quite a few bikers riding for fun and for work. A courier job may be a lot of work in a big city but imagine the exercise you get. Well, for the rest of us a nice, cheap electric scooters make for a much more pleasant afternoon.

I'm wrapping up my trip to Washington DC and have had a wonderful time. After just a few days exploring the city I can see the appeal. I can't say much for the political personalities in the city but the regular people, my people, were very friendly and happy to help me find my way. Washington DC is a trip I'd highly recommend, just let me know before you go so I can get an electric motor scooter in your hand to make your visit spectacular!

United States Capitol

Today we visited the US Capitol. Our guide had plenty of stories to tell about every painting and statue we saw. The inside of the dome was painted by a guy (I'm terrible with names) who was working on the 8th of 16 scenes. He was high up in the dome sitting on a chair supported by scaffolding. He took a break and leaned back to look at what he had painted when the chair slipped and fell. He grabbed a rail with one hand and held on for over 15 minutes!

There was one other guy who happened to be working at the top of the dome at the time and heard the painter fall. From the top of the dome this other worker was not able to get to the painter to help but did get the attention of a security guard who had to go find a huge ladder to help get the painter down. After that experience the painter handed painting duties off to one of his apprentices who finished the ring of paintings at the base of the dome.

And now I'm off to learn more about this great country that is allowing me the opportunity to provide high quality, cheap electric scooters to the people!

Vietnam Memorial

It's time to bring a post to a bit more of a serious note. My Washington DC visit took me to the Vietnam War Memorial where I learned about SP4 Patrick Dean Rosen from a framed story left at the wall. The story read...

"Pat's nickname in the 1st Battalion was "Match Wayne", because he was very good with his rifle and someone thought he was like another "John Wayne". The real John Wayne heard about "Match Wayne" (Pat), while on a USO trip to Nam and asked to meet Pat. Unfortunately, Pat was not able to keep his date with "The Duke". John Wayne wrote a moving personal letter to his Mother regarding "Match Wayne" and she has it framed in her house along with Pat's US Army photo and medals. Pat was 19 years old."

That's about all I can say...I went to graduation at Georgetown University! Are you seeing this picture!?!

I'm still waking up (it's 5am California time) but enjoying the sunny morning! As the cerimonies wrap up we are going to explore the campus a bit. Most every posting I am suppose to talk about our cheap electric scooters but today I think I'm going to just walk this campus. That's not to say I wouldn't absolutely love one of our electric motor scooters right now but it is nice to just walk around from time to time. Let's see if I regret that decision at the end of the day ;)

CESO Goes To Washington DC!

Wow! There are so many things to see. We've found a hotel just down the street from the White House but today we're doing the walking tour to the Washington Memorial and Lincoln Monument. All I have to say is...HUGE!

Right when we got to the Washington Monument I saw how long the reflecting pool is and realized...I could really go for an electric motor scooter right now!

It really is impressive.

Remember the movie Back to the Future? McFly is running away from Biff, grabs a kid's wooden scooter, breaks the top half off and rides away on the skateboard that's left. That was a quality action sequence!

I still think that was a pretty good little design. The scooter was stable, environmentally friendly wood construction, and there was plenty of wall space for stickers. The thing could even double as rolling luggage!

Today's electric scooters are lightyears beyond that movie screen scooter. Though some smaller electric motor scooters may share wheel sizes with rolling luggage, that's about as far as the similarities will go. The high tension steel frames provide a sturdy form and not even Mr. McFly could break them. The range of electric motors can get just about anyone up to speed and out of Biff's reach.

Point is...the electric scooter has come a long way!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

The rain is wonderful and much needed for all our farmer friends but it really gets in the way of my bike rides! If you're suited up correctly, rain won't even stop you from getting on your bike but for most of us, riding in the rain doesn't really seem like an option. Speaking as someone who has done it once, it's a lot of fun!

Back in college it was pouring one day but I had to get home. Before I was able to unlock the chain, I was soaked. My rush to get home drizzled away as I accepted the idea that I couldn't possibly get any more wet. Got on my bike and started peddling. As I went faster the huge rain drops hit me harder and faster. On each down hill I picked up more speed and pretty soon those rain drops were like a Shiatzu massage. The shots to the eyes kind of hurt but that sting goes away.

I emphasize enough how dumb that was and how careful you should be if you need to ride your bike in the rain. But...if you have the opportunity to jump on a bike on a rainy day on a bike path that is dedicated to only bikes and there are no cars allowed and your breaks and tire treads are good and you have all of your protective gear on, including a helmet with the chin strap securely buckled...get out and get wet ;)
