Hyundai T7S is an upgrade over its predecessor, T7. This tablet is a 7-inch tablet that is very powerful with quad-core processor and low price US$186. RAM and internal storage are doubled.

Recently, Hyundai will release the upgraded version from T7, is now they ready to unveiled the Hyundai T7s, in addition to continue using Samsung Orion quad-core processor, GPS, Bluetooth, HDMI, more storage capacity, camera, and battery life have made a significant upgrade.

How good is this tablet ?

The original T7 was a great device that offered excellent performance at an affordable price. One problem of it though was the way the battery seemed to drain faster. The company addresses this issue with this new model by using a 3300mAh battery that’s said to provide users with 5 hours of continuous use.

The Hyundai T7S is available in dark blue color and can be ordered through various online retailers. As far as build quality goes it’s as sturdy and as solid as the original model. The use of Android Ice Cream Sandwich is outdated and I’m wondering why the company has not opted for Jelly Bean instead. There won’t be any problem with hardware compatibility since the quad core processor and 2 GB of RAM is more than enough to run the latest Android OS.

If you’re out looking for a cheap yet powerful device then this model is highly recommended. It’s great for surfing the web, checking on your social networks and will even perform well when installed with most of the games coming from the Play Store.

Apple resort to refurbished iPad Mini

Apple cannot keep selling premium tablets, considering the onslaught of Android based tablets which are cheaper. It has now begin selling refurbished iPad Mini.

As it stands, the only model that's currently available is the 16GB iPad mini with Wi-Fi + Cellular for Verizon in black. In refurbished trim, it's selling for $429, which is $30 less than retail (a 6 percent savings). That's not exactly a significant price break, but it's about the cheapest you'll find, and it comes straight from Apple. It's worth noting that even though it's refurbished, it's like getting a brand new device. It comes with a fresh new battery and outer shell, and all the retail trimmings, including a 1-year warranty.

Amazon Cuts Kindle Fire Price

The price war is now heating up, with Amazon joining the war. The price of Amazon Kindle Fire are dropping.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 inch Wi-Fi tablet will now be priced at $269 in the US, down from $299. The 4G wireless version now starts at $399, compared with $499 before, Amazon said.

It looks like the iPad domination is about to end in 2013. Analyst is predicting that Android Tablet shipment will overwhelm iPad shipment in late 2013.

A growing variety of smaller and cheaper Android tablets from Google to Amazon.com Inc will catch on this year with more consumers and chip away at Apple's dominance since the first iPad launched in 2010, International Data Corp said.

Cheap Good Tablet PC is a growing market, with giants such as Google, Asus and Acer are entering the market with their product lineup. But, what is the key deciding factor in choosing which tablet ?

The key deciding factor is usage. If your primary use of a tablet is reading ebooks, then it's hard to go wrong with the Kindle line, particularly the bright, vivid Kindle Fire HD. It can play movies, it offers a decent Web browser and Netflix streaming -- plus the book reading experience is front and center in the user interface.

While the Daily Camera article itself points to Android vs iOS, the argument presented is still valid. The main factor is not actually price, but usage. What is the tablet going to be used for ? The answer for most people is light browsing, e-book reading and entertainment, such as watching movies and listening to music. Thus, the exact requirements are very light and can be met with inexpensive tablet.

16GB Acer Iconia B1 Available Now

After the 8GB Acer Iconia B1 was released earlier this year. In MWC 2013, Acer announced the availability of 16GB Iconia B1. Acer Iconia B1 made the headline due to its low price and limited availability. It is still not available in United States.

The newly announced 16GB model of 7 inch Acer Slate is put on sale immediately for €139. It comes with a 1,024X600p display, lightweight plastic fluid and a 0.3 megapixel camera. The 7 inch display is comfortable for web browsing, e-reading. It may also provide a better gaming experience. The company claims it is be an ideal tablet for a busy individual looking for a convenient mobile companion.

Chinese Tablets with Google Nexus 10 Power

Ramos, a Chinese electronic manufacturers is planning to develop a tablet with ARM15 processor. The same processor used in Google Nexus 10. Why it matters ?

Because the ARM15 has the power of a low end desktop PC. This means, tablets are going to replace the desktop very soon.

Ramos is reportedly planning to use the same Samsung Exynos 5250 processor found in the Google Nexus 10 — but if previous Ramos tablets are anything to judge by, the upcoming tablet could be even more affordable than Google’s tablet (which is built by Samsung and sold for $399 and up).

Quad Core Hyundai T7

Hyundai is a Korean brand, like Samsung and LG. In the mobile market, however its brand is relatively obscure. Hyundai T7 is a 7-inch tablet that will enter the market at $166 from Pandawill. The processor core is powered by Samsung quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, which means it is more powerful than Google Nexus 7. The other specs ?

The tablet features a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and Mali 400 graphics. It has a microUSB port, microSD card slot, HDMI output, a 2MP rear camera, and a 0.3MP front-facing camera.

It runs Google Android 4.0 and features WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. I don’t know if the Hyundai T7 is officially certified by Google, but it comes with the Google Play Store preloaded and runs most apps available from Google’s app marketplace.

While it is great specs wise, Liliputing notes that the tablet is has a lot of deficiencies due to poor quality components being used.

Before I broke the tablet, I also had time to notice a few quirks:

The tablet would sometimes shut down entirely after it had been left plugged in and charging for a while. If I left it overnight and came back the next day I might have to wait for the tablet to perform a full boot before I could use it.

While the Hyundai T7 and Google Nexus 7 both have 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel displays, everything looks smaller on the T7 screen, because text, images, and other content aren’t scaled the same way as they are on the Nexus 7.

The tablet does not come pre-rooted (as some Chinese devices do), but it’s reportedly easy to root using ExynosAbuse.

My unit had at least one dead pixel, and the screen seems to scratch very easily.

So, when you buy this tablet, make sure you check everything is good before you take it home. My recommendation would be to stay away from this tablet, unless you are a thorough person and can check for physical deficiencies in the tablet before purchase.

Asus and Intel Join Together To Create Fonepad

Intel is desperate to enter the tablet market. It has joined forces with Asus to create Fonepad. A 7-inch tablet running Android. There are two main selling point with the Fonepad, it can make phone calls and its price. For $249, it is quite a bargain.

The already blurry line between larger and larger mobile phones and smaller and lighter tablets has now become even fuzzier with Asus’s announcement this week of the “Fonepad,” a 7-inch Android * tablet powered by an Atom™ Z2420 processor platform. Yes, it’s a tablet that makes phone calls. Call it a “phablet.”

The Intel processor used is the Atom family processor, Z2420. A processor that Intel hopes will be able to break into ARM controlled market.

Apps Marketplace Need to Filter Its Apps

Privacy is a major concern right now. Social media and mobile apps are arriving in droves daily. To use them, we do need to provide real life information. It is therefore prone to misuse by the apps providers. A recent article from The Droid Guy indicates that "iOS Apps Collect More Personal Information than Android apps, says Study".

A good take from the article is that both Google and Apple can actually do something about it by filtering apps to use only what is needed.

Apps on App Store as well as Play Store, generally take up more permissions from user than required. For instance- Why does a shooting game need permission to read SMS/ make calls? Why does a newsreader app require permission to capture photos? If Apple and Google could filter the permission owned by each and every app and make sure they only do what they intend to do, maybe we would have less privacy concerns. Also, while downloading/installing, apps should clearly mention what permissions they need and why they need it. Everything should be mentioned in plain, easy-to-understand language. Most people don’t understand complex tech jargons. And, Apple as well as Google should devise mechanisms that prevents apps from identifying user preferences and collecting personal data.

I completely agree with that article, it is the Apps Marketplace Owner task to filter them and requires that apps use permission that is needed. But, I do not think any of them will do it. It takes too much time and strict requirements means less apps.

Nexus 7 or Galaxy Note 8.0 ?

Still on the sideline in buying an Android tablet ? Want to get the Nexus 7 but still holding out for Galaxy Note 8.0 ? Well, check out the specs for specs comparison of those two in iTech Post "Nexus 7 vs. Galaxy Note 8.0: Battle Of The Budget Android Tablets".

Overall, the Galaxy Note 8 is better equipped specs wise, except in the display department. And Galaxy Note has an S pen. The price is expected to be a little more higher than Google Nexus 7.

Personally, I will go with the Nexus 7. It uses plain Android OS, compared to Galaxy Note use of Samsung TouchWiz. Price is also a factor, since Nexus 7 specs is still powerful enough to run any apps you throw at it today, why bother buying a more expensive one with similar specs ?

News Corp Announces Educational Tablet

Educational tablet is a new market. News Corp has just announced at SXSWEdu 2013 in Texas, their $299 Amplify tablet, aimed at school children.

The tablet was showed off by Joel Klein, president of News Corp. division Amplify and a former chancellor of New York City schools. Klein revealed the 10-inch tablet and said that it can assist both students and schools in furthering education.

Klein said, “When I left I was convinced of two things. If we didn’t see a dramatic technological change, we were not going to be able to move this country forward. Second of all, that the private sector had to get much, much more involved.”

The tablet’s learning model will first be aimed at middle school students before being rolled out to all grades. Amplify began testing the model with schools and student last November and is hoping to get it into as many schools as possible in the Fall. In addition to the $299 version, there is an Amplify Tablet Plus for $349. Either version also requires a two-year $99 subscription fee.

Cheap Good Tablet PC Running Windows 8 Coming

Windows 8 is a late entry into the tablet PC market. Its price is rather high, mainly because it does not support small tablets in the 7-8 inch range. Coming from a desktop OS, it primarily worked on 10-inch and higher tablets. Thus, the price are expensive. That is going to change.

Reports Tuesday in Taipei-based Digitimes and the Wall Street Journal indicate that Microsoft will lower the price of Windows 8 for PC makers in the coming months.

Not surprisingly,that should result in cheaper Windows 8 tablets and hybrids, according to IDC's Bob O'Donnell.

"It lowers the vendors' total cost, which allows them to get to a lower price point," he said.

But maybe more importantly, Microsoft has offered another incentive: to spark the market for small Windows 8 devices, any product with a display size of less than roughly 11 inches will get a discount plus a free copy of Office 2013, according to reports.

Looking for a cheaper Nexus 7 but better specs compared to Acer Iconia B1 ? Storage Options Scroll Excel III is a great fit.

For $165 a pop, you get a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 Boxchip processor underneath the hood, although the 7” display at 1024 x 600 resolution does not really impress. Still, it does have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board right out of the box, alongside 1GB RAM and accompanied by 8GB of internal memory which can be further expanded, thanks to a microSD memory card slot, not to mention a 3,000 mAh battery that ought to last the distance.

Cheap Good Tablet PC Flooding Australia

Australia, despite its relative geographic isolation with the rest of the western world is finding no boundaries for cheap good tablet PC.

Well, after that hiatus, this past couple of weeks the flood appears to have begun again — but in a smaller form factor, following the success of Google’s Nexus 7. Perhaps the most high-profile device to be flagged for imminent local launch is HP’s Slate 7 (pictured above), which CRN tells us will sell locally for $199, but there’s also ASUS’s MeMO Pad, also a 7″ device in a very similar form factor to the Nexus 7 (no big surprise, given that ASUS built the Nexus 7 for Google), and this afternoon Kogan joined the Android love-in with 8″ and 10″ tablet models starting at just $119.

We’re sure there are a few other 7″ Android tablet launches out there which we haven’t laid our eyes on, but frankly, we’re finding it hard to really care that much at this point, given the sheer amount of similar devices launching in Australia at the moment.

Tablet Repairability Scores

iFixIt has released their latest tablet repairability score. Dell XPS 10 takes the top spot, followed by Amazon Kindle Fire, Dell Streak, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

Two tablets on the list are cheap good tablet PC: Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

The iPad series, in the meantime are amongst hardest to repair.

Archos Family Pad 2

Big is beautiful. Archos has announced a 13-inch tablet called Family Pad 2 labelled coming soon. Price in Europe is quoted at €299.

The Archos FamilyPad 2 also has a 1.6 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with quad-core graphics, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a pair of 2 MP cameras (front+rear), and Wi-Fi. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Its dimensions are 337x230x11.6 mm, and it weighs 1.3 kg. Thankfully though, it’s going to ship with the ‘quick stand’ you see in the image above included free of charge. Otherwise, this may be a bit tough to handle.

HP enters tablet market with Slate

The rumored HP entry into the tablet market is now a reality. HP Slate was announced during MWC 2013. The price ? $169. Availability ? April 2013.

The Slate will run a 1.6-GHz, dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. There's 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA camera on the front. HP also touted the embedded Beats Audio and the HP ePrint app for home and on-the-go printing. A micro USB port allows for the transfer of files.

HP is offering a two-year HP Care Pack warranty for $29 or a two-year HP Care Pack with Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) for $49.

It is pretty standard features on the hardware side. The top selling point however, is its printing capability. Unfortunately it is still untested. As noted in another PC Magazine article:

The tablet's most impressive feature was one I wasn't able to use. (Isn't that always the way?) It prints.

This isn't just HP's downloadable ePrint app. According to HP's senior vice president of mobile, Alberto Torres, printing is plumbed into the OS so you can print from a range of different applications. You'll be able to print via Wi-Fi or, even more excitingly, by plugging your tablet directly into a printer with a USB cable.

"We know that one of the pain points from users in the mobile world is the ability to print," Torres said. "That's something we're definitely going to be addressing in a lot of ways."

Torres didn't have details on which printers could be plugged directly into the tablet, but said it wouldn't just be HP models. A list of supported printers will be available soon, he said, and other future HP tablets would share these capabilities.

Archos 80 Titanium Available Now in the UK

Archos 80 Titanium is now available in the UK. It is available in 8GB and 16GB, both which can be purchased through Carphone Warehouse. The 16GB is exclusive to Carphone Warehouse and is not sold anywhere else. The rest of Europe in the meantime can purchase directly from Archos website. The price for 8GB is £129 and 16GB version is £199.

Archos has said that the 8GB 80 Titanium tablet will be available with Carphone Warehouse and that the 16GB 80 Titanium will be exclusive to Carphone Warehouse. No word as to when, or if this exclusivity on the 16GB model will expire, but at this time — that is where the purchase will have to be made. The retailer has the 8GB model priced at £129 and the 16GB model priced at £199.

Aside from the internal storage space, the features of the 80 Titanium tablet will include a display resolution of 1024 x 768 along with a dual-core 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, microSD card slot, HDMI, USB, front-facing webcam and a 2 megapixel rear-facing camera. The tablet is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will have access to the Google Play Store.

Acer Iconia B1-A71 available now in Europe

Acer cheap good tablet PC, the Iconia B1-A71 is now available in Europe, Africa and Middle East. The price ? €139 for the 16GB and €119 for the 8GB version.

The tablet specs include dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 7-inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution.
