_Damien Rice

2011-03-22T20:12:00.028+00:00

Hi there :) how are you people?? It's been a while I wanted to write about this ihih :D Well, the other day we were with some friends in Bologna and we went to a music store and it happened I found this cd..

..and I was like "Yay!**" I knew the 'new' cd was out but I never looked for it in stores, so when I saw it I couldn't let go and bought it :D My friends then asked me who Damien Rice is.. here, the answer!

Damien Rice (born 7 December 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter and musician. As a musician he plays the guitar, piano, clarinet and percussion.
He released his debut album "O" on the 1st of February 2002, which peaked at #8 on the UK albums chart and went on to win the Shortlist music prize. Check out "Cannonball", "The Blower's Daughter" and "Volcano"!! ;)

Cannonball

There’s still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
there’s still a little bit of you laced with my doubt
it’s still a little hard to say what's going on
there’s still a little bit of your ghost your witness
there’s still a little piece of your face i haven't kissed
you step a little closer to me
still i can't see what's going on
stones taught me to fly
love taught me to lie
life taught me to die
so it's not hard to fall
when you float like a cannonball
there’s still a little bit of your song in my ear
there’s still a little bit of your words i long to hear
you step a little closer each day
so close that i can't see what's going on [..]

The Blower's Daughter from "O"

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her skies

I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes... [..]

As you might notice, there are pieces of the movie "Closer"(2004) in the video as this song, together with the piano introduction of 'Cold Water' from the same album, was in the soundtrack of the movie.

It's not a solo case, since many of the songs from "O" were chosen to be part of the soundtrack of many tv series as The L Word, Lost, Dr. House - Medical Division, Alias, Misfits e CSI: Miami, E.R., The O.C. and Dawson's Creek.

I have to confess that Dawson's Creek itself is the reason I found out about Damien Rice aha Here, from min.6.00 (poor Pacey..!)

Finally on the 6th of November 2006 the second album "9" came out and suddenly "9Crimes" and "Rootless Tree" reached the top of my playlist for a while :)

9 Crimes with Lisa Hannigan

Rootless Tree

What I want from you is empty your head
But they say be true, don't stay in your bed
We do what we need to be free
And it leans on me like a rootless tree

What I want from us is learn to let go
But we fade the forests, fracture the tide
We go blind when we needed to see
And it leans on me, like a rootless...

So fuck you, fuck you, fuck you
And all you didn't do
I said bleed it, bleed it, bleed it
There's nothing in you
And do you hate me, hate me, hate me, hate me so much
That you can't let me out, let me out, let me out
Of hell when you're around [..]

And this is it! I hope you had enough info to understand if you like the genre or not and hopefully you'll like it as much as I do :) Syl xx

I feel like a Hollywood star
Hand full of bills, all black cars
Rock guitar and 10 shots of whiskey
Got the chain on my neck and a massive hickey

I put on the light, I shine, I glow
Whoa is me, I’m so whoa

I’m surrounded by people, I’m cool
Everyone’s so see-through, not you
I know you think I don’t hustle, I do
Used to get up for the bus now I fly do
Drive by you, I’ll buy you
Alright, then I’ll bite your style
I try to act like a child

_La Roux

2011-01-28T10:25:00.008+00:00

La Roux are an English electropop and synthpop duo made up of singer, keyboardist, co-writer and co-producer Eleanor Kate Jackson (born 12 March 1988),and keyboardist, co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Jackson describes their relationship as "very much a half and half sharing situation... not like a singer producer outfit", but also recognises that due to her prominence, it may "look like a solo act".
Their music is influenced by 1980s British synthpop including Yazoo, Erasure, Depeche Mode OMD, The Human League, Heaven 17 and Blancmange.
The band's name refers to Jackson's red hair and tomboyish appearance, mingling the masculine (le roux) and feminine (la rousse) French terms;
she has said:
"To me, it means "red-haired one" – and it does, vaguely. It's just a male version of "red-haired one", which I think is even cooler, because I'm... well... androgynous anyway. So it kind of makes sense."

La Roux - I'm Not Your Toy

La Roux - Quicksand

La Roux - Bulletproof (Live @ Jimmy Kimmel)

_Alors on danse

2011-01-24T11:20:00.007+00:00

Hello!

Does it happen to you to get up in the morning and want to go back in time?
Oh yeah, I want to return to this summer! When after months of unbridled study, travel around Europe, work commitments, we decided to take a break from everything and refuge undisturbed in a small town in Liguria.
Our program?
We got up at lunchtime, slipped into bikini, fled to the beach and swim till 5pm, then it was time for an ice cream! Happy hour: could not miss a drink in the bar of the town square.
We can never forget their mojito! :D
Then we came home, shower, dinner and still out on the streets of this small paradise.
What could we expect more?
So for 9 days we took care of ourselves, no parties, dancing, but really enjoying everything Lerici offered.
Of course, once back home we were more stressed than before, but that trip is a really good memory.

And here is the soundtrack of our summer!

To be continued...

_Nicki Minaj

2011-01-23T18:55:00.004+00:00

I was in the car when I heard on the radio this evening one of our favorite singers.
Here you Nicki Minaj!
Here are some of the songs in which she duets with artists who we love so much;)

What do you think?

I cant believe it
its so amazing
this club is heating
this party`s blazin`
I can`t believe it this beat it bangin

Hey barbie, Can i call you Barbara,
Hey barbie, Can i call you tomorrow and today?,
Cause when she goes black you never go back,
And when she go wayne everybody else is whack, ,
The she threw that ass back back back,
Then i fell to the matt and i said EH! then everything went BLACK

I fly with the stars in the skies
I am no longer trying to survive
I believe that life is a prize
But to live doesn’t mean you’re alive

And here is a picture of Emma and Katy as usual doing strange stuffs ...
but yeah.. how do they say? 'much love' ...

_Girls I wanna party with u

Every time you hear a song you probably remember a particular moment in the past.
As soon as I heard this song I could not avoid thinking of our holiday in Spain.
We stayed only a few days, but enough to fall in love with Madrid.
The atmosphere, the main streets full of people, parties, clubs ... it was all so fucking beautiful!
That's why we want to go back soon.
Here are some photos of those days!

love you_

_F**kin' Perfect

2011-01-22T19:43:00.005+00:00

Here we are with the second single from Pink!
Who is really perfect?
That is said by perfectionists who hate perfection...

You’re fuckin’ perfect to me
The world stares while i swallow the fear
The only thing i should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in lying and I tried tried
But we try too hard, it’s a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics, cuz they’re everywhere
They don’t like my genes, they don’t get my hair
Stringe ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that?
Why do I do that?
Why do I do that?

_DJ Luke Worrall

2011-01-20T16:41:00.010+00:00

Luke Worrall, born in 1989, was discovered in 2007 by his future agent while he was back with his friends from the skate park in Camden, London. It all started as a joke, and within a year his life has totally changed: the adolescent boy who wanted to be a punk rocker and more specifically studying to become an electrician, in a very short signature with the Agency and Public Image Worldwide in August 2007 made the first cover of the magazine Dazed & Confused. In November there will be the second, while the ID flag as "rising star" of fashion and French Vogue chose him for an editorial. In 2008 appears in the campaign of Custo Barcelona and becomes the face of Topman, a British brand adored by Kate Moss, and above the line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Photographer Stephen Klein for W along with Hillary Swank and V with Jessica Stam.
Still appears on Dazed photographed by Mariano Vivanco, on the cover for Arena Hommes Juergen Teller, next to the icon Agyness Deyn on Vogue. Many insist on defining it as "the boy Agyness" even though he mocks and "just wants to be Luke Worrall" and buy parts for his BMX. Meanwhile, however, poses for campaign accessories from Vivienne Westwood and has just signed with the agency VNY Model Management contract "rather than respectful.

Luke over to dedicate to the fashion world by leveraging his beauty (which certainly does not go unnoticed) decided to devote himself to the world of music.
With his DJset began to shake the most famous clubs in New York, London and then Milan.
Here is the classic example of someone that besides his pretty face has been able to get busy and cultivate a passion.

Do you agree with us that behind this beautiful face there's a guy who makes let us say really good music?
