Pre Wedding Photoshoot Tips

A pre-wedding photoshoot is tricky sometimes, especially when your partner is not into the camera and you love the camera. Yeah, I feel that situation. I am blessed with a man who doesn't really care about his look on the camera, but it also challenges me when we plan for our pre-wedding photoshoot. Did I get stressed? Obviously. This moment only happens once in a lifetime, of course, we want to make it memorable and sweet. So, since we successfully passed this phase, I am urged to share with you my pre-wedding photoshoot tips so you can make the best of it.

1. Set a budget

First things first, budget. Make sure you and your partner have discussed the budget for the photoshoot, including the photographer, videographer, studio or photoshoot location, outfits, and stylist (if you prefer to use). For my fiancé and I, we are very blessed to collaborate with Indonesian photographer and videographer based in Surabaya, MATE. They specialize in pre-wedding and wedding photoshoots and I can tell that they're really professional and friendly. By collaborating with them, of course, it cuts the budget for the photographer and the videographer, plus I am my own stylist. Super blessed!

Notes: When you do research for the photographer, make sure their portfolio aligns with your dream photoshoot.

2. Create more than one moodboard

Going with one concept is fine, but you can't expect what happens in the location. Hence, opt for more than one concept so when the first plan doesn't look satisfying, you can try with the second plan. For my fiancé and I, I made two concepts: West Meets East and Alpha and Omega. I brought those concepts because he comes from Western culture and I am from Asian culture, and also, he is the firstborn while I am the lastborn in the family.

On the set, he initially wore a cowboy hat, but it turned out the location was not as good as we expected, the sun was also too bright, and the cowboy hat doesn't really represent a cowboy. Thank God we still have more moodboards, so we can go ahead with another one.

Notes: I use Pinterest to collect the references, then I put them on my Google Slides.

3. Do not follow trends

Stick to what will everlasting instead of following the trends because trends will fade with time. Imagine if you hang your pre-wedding photo on the wall and you did it based on the current trends (for example: Y2K trends), 10 or maybe 20 years later, you might find it weird or silly. For us, we stick to simplicity. Plain background, homey studio, neutral color scheme, so the photos will be more focused on our moments, not the ambience. Please remember that the location is just to support your photoshoot, not to become the center of attention.

4. Communicate with your photographer team clearly

Explain your ideas, concerns, and difficulties at least a week before the photoshoot. Make sure they are aware of your insecurity, for example, I prefer my left side profile rather than my right side, and I also asked them to speak in English because my fiancé cannot speak in Bahasa Indonesia.

5. Build mood with your partner before the photoshoot

I still remember that time in the morning, I was quite cranky because of a lack of sleep (I stayed up all night to make the bridal veil, lol). Thank God, my fiancé really knows how to win my heart. He comforted me on the way to the studio until my ice broke, so we could have a very good connection during the photoshoot. Trust me, your mood truly impacts the result (watch the video below).

A small addition of SPF would make this lotion even more versatile and protective.

Overall, I am happy with the result of Xtrabarrier series, it keeps my skin glowing, healthier, and plumpy. If you're more into whitening series, they also have another series, Xtrawhite.

Everyone has a various experience with nature-based skincare. It’s more like a “plenty of fish in the sea” kind of thing. It’s very accessible, and easy to find even though some formulas feel way too strong while some are just perfect. However, I just had an Xperience with one brand that combines natural ingredients with high technology to create innovation in our skincare journey for skin restoration. How cool is that? Shall we get to know more about it?

As we all know, a good skin barrier is a baseline to know if our skin is healthy or not because once there’s a problem, higher chance for the skin to get irritated or infected. However, based on the current environmental situation, especially in the hustle bustle city life, it seems impossible to keep it healthy and firm. Thus, PT Interbat as the leading pharmacy company in Indonesia also introduced salmon DNA to us), launched its very first skincare line, XTRACARE.

Based on what I learned from dr. Edmon Sebastian, Business Unit Head Interbat Aesthetics, Xtracare is the first ionic skincare system in Indonesia that combines ion-balancing minerals (Calcium and Magnesium) with Intercellular Lamellar Emulsion. I swatched some of the products to understand the texture. I would say both variants have their own characteristics : Xtra Barrier’s Ionic Nourishing Cream’s texture is slightly heavier than the Xtra White’s Ionic Glowing Cream - however, both have a pleasant, calming scent.

Overall, it’s really good to understand how the innovation in skincare industry keeps evolving like this. All the explanation from Interbat Aesthetic is completely makes sense yet mind-blowing. I would say their innovation is important for those who live in big city with high-level of pollution, including me.

Personal Color Analysis Journey

If you never try, you'll never know.

Most of us have known that personal color analysis is trending right now, not only in fashion or beauty industry, but worldwide. Why? Because everyone is actually have their own color palette based on their undertones and they need to know their own personal color - which color suits them the most, which color gives them harmony or which color gives them disharmony.

Have you ever experienced some outfits or makeup makes you look washed out but some makes you look glowing? That's what color analysis used for. It can be applied to find the right clothing, makeup, jewelry, contact lens, nail colors, so on.

As a person who works in fashion-beauty industry for more than 9 years, of course I would love to know my personal color too. I've done color analysis two times, one was done by a beautician and the other one through color analysis website. The beautician said I have COOL UNDERTONE while from the website it said my season is AUTUMN.

So random.

I can't believe them because when I tried the palette, I can clearly confirm those are not my colors. That's why, instead of going to another color analyst, I decided to learn it by myself. I learned it almost everyday from some websites and personal color experts, I learned how to define personal color, including 4 seasons and 12 sub seasons. It was so difficult to define the use of hue, chroma, and value! However after practicing a lot and doing trials and errors - I become more sensitive with colors and familiar with those terms.

I used to be the client and I got wrong analysis, TWICE. But finally with the knowledge I got from learning color analysis, not just understanding my own personal color palette, but I also got some privileges to be a speaker and share my knowledge to others, TWICE. I can't describe my gratitude with words because I feel it's a gift from God.

I love how to see them finally figuring out their best colors and their worst colors. Not just to be the best version of themselves, but we can also cut expenses buying the wrong colors and just focusing on colors that flatter us.

Glutathione : to help even out skin tone and its antioxidant makes skin healthier, moisturised, and brighter.
Vitamine E : to maintain skin firmness, elasticity, and skin moisture.
Shea Butter : to maintain skin youthfulness and make skin firmer.
Aloe Vera extract : to soothe mildly irritated skin.
Titanium Dioxide : to protect skin from bad effects of UV rays.

How to use:

Start with clean, dry skin to ensure maximum absorption of the product.

First things first, I really want to point out its scent because it’s definitely my favourite! I really admire the elegant yet seductive and fresh scent, I think it’s all because of the musk. Fyi, I am so into musk, woody scent so this variant is my ultimate choice! I like to use it everyday, especially after a shower or before sleeping. Since the scent is quite strong compared to other variants, this body lotion is able to stay up to 5 hours. Pretty good isn’t it?

Pros:

Safely sealed with double lock
Elegant yet seductive and fresh scent
Lock moisture very well up to 5 hours
Moisturizes, soothing skin
Doesn’t leave a greasy feeling

Cons:

Basic packaging (comes in one size only)
Requires time for it to completely absorbs into skin

From the picture above, probably you can’t really tell the difference but I can say that my skin used to feel dull and less moist but now that I use this body lotion regularly it looks more fresh and glowing. It doesn’t give an instant brightening effect indeed, but my skin is well-moisturised without any sticky feeling and that’s pretty much what I need.

For me, when it comes to body lotions, the scent plays a significant role in the overall experience. Tips Merawat Rambut Agar Awet Muda

Aku baru sadar akhir-akhir ini kalau ternyata nggak hanya kulit aja yang bisa mengalami penuaan tapi ternyata rambut pun juga sama. Sebelumnya aku nggak pernah sadar tentang hal ini sampai aku merasa rambutku sekarang cenderung lebih cepat kering dan rontok, kalau sering keramas rontok, tapi kalo jarang keramas juga rontoknya makin banyak! Selain itu, kalau sering pakai catok rambutku jadi makin kering, tapi kalo jarang pakai catok, rambutku juga kelihatan kusut. Ada yang bisa relate?

Setelah aku cari tahu, ternyata ini nih kebiasaan yang bikin rambut kita mengalami penuaan (selain faktor usia ya):

Cuci rambut setiap hari - terlalu sering keramas bisa bikin rambut makin cepat kering.
Sering terkena panas - baik terkena sinar matahari maupun sering mencatok rambut bisa menyebabkan rambut cepat kusam dan kering.
Sering menggosok rambut setelah keramas - bisa menyebabkan lapisan kutikula rambut terbuka dan teksturnya menjadi kasar.

Susah juga ya? Karena selama kita tinggal di Indonesia pasti sulit untuk bisa menghindari terik sinar matahari dan kalau kamu memiliki profesi yang mewajibkan rambut kamu selalu terlihat rapi, pasti nggak bisa lepas juga dengan yang namanya catok rambut.

Terus solusinya apa dong?

Mempertahankan produksi minyak di kulit kepala. Kenapa begitu? Karena kondisi penuaan rambut adalah kondisi dimana produksi minyak di kulit kepala berkurang dna folikel rambut yang lebih kecil, jadi ada kemungkinan rambut yang tumbuh jadi lebih tipis.

Nah, sebagai pemilik tipe rambut yang gampang rontok dan gampang kering karena terlalu sering di-styling, aku mau share beberapa tips mudah caraku merawat rambut dari pendek sampai panjang dan tetap awet muda!

TIPS 1 : PILIH SISIR RAMBUT YANG TEPAT

Jujur aku jarang banget sisir rambut, apalagi setelah keramas karena cenderung akan rontok lebih banyak. Tapi tentunya aku nggak bisa dong nggak pernah pakai sisir rambut. Oleh karena itu, aku pilih sisir rambut yang bahannya lembut dan menghindari bahan plastik karena cenderung akan bikin rambut rontok lebih banyak.

TIPS 2 : RAJIN MINUM KACANG HIJAU

Saat rambutku panjang, aku sering banget minum kacang hijau untuk mempertahankan rambut nggak gampang rontok. Kacang hijau mengandung zinc dan memiliki manfaat untuk mengatasi kerontokan rambut dan merangsang pertumbuhan rambut. Selain itu kacang hijau bagus banget buat kesehatan kulit loh! Tapi ingat ya, jangan terlalu sering minumnya, karena semua yang berlebihan kan nggak baik.

TIPS 3 : CUCI RAMBUT 2-3 KALI SEMINGGU

Meskipun awalnya sulit apalagi aku rutin olahraga, tapi aku selalu usahakan untuk cuci rambut 2-3 kali seminggu supaya produksi minyak rambut tetap normal. At first, I didn’t have any clue why this product became so popular among beauty lovers - not until I tried and experienced it by myself (during that period my face was quite sensitive because of redness and acne). How to use:

Take out the product by rotating the tiny tube, then apply the mask all over the face. Avoid eyes, lips, hair area. Leave it for about 15-20 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

Review:

I didn’t expect this clay stick to be this tiny but can be used many times. It has a lid to secure the creamy product so it won’t spill out everywhere. When I first applied the clay mask, I really enjoyed the soft yet creamy texture so it can be spread evenly over the face easily. It also has a cooling sensation and the scent is quite calming in my preference. From the before and after pictures (after applying and after 20 minutes), the mask dried a bit but it didn't make my skin dry nor itchy. It’s easy to rinse it off, however based on my experience, it doesn’t really cleanse the pores as the next morning I got some white heads and doesn’t really calm my acne wholly.

I don’t know exactly when, but ever since I knew deodorant, I can’t pass one day without it. First of all, deodorant plays a crucial role in managing body odor. Our bodies naturally produce sweat, which can lead to unpleasant odors when it mixes with bacteria on our skin. All this time, I only used one brand of deodorant, the basic one - not until one day I figured out about LOVANA, because it claims to be 3in1 deodorant (as deodorant, antiperspirant, and brightening). Then what’s the difference with the other deodorant? Let’s get to know more about it!

What it is:

Roll-on deodorant to brighten underarm and also to maintain, protect for daily activities. It contains:

Niacinamide: to brighten underarm.
Glutathione: antioxidant to brighten and maintain underarm’s skin elasticity.
Sunflower oil: to moisturise, brighten, and reduce underarm’s skin irritation.
Jojoba oil: to maintain skin’s moisture.
Vitamin E: to nourish and maintain skin’s moisture after shaving.
Allantoin: to soothe skin.

How to use:

Apply everyday after showering or shaving.

Packaging:

It comes inside a basic paper box, dominated with its brand colours which are white and blue. The shape is quite long as a deodorant because I get used to deodorant with small, rounded tubes. All the descriptions, instructions, and ingredients are written in Bahasa.

Texture:

Watery, non-sticky texture with soft, powdery floral scent.

Review:

At first when I pressed the tube, there’s airy room inside the tube. However, I like the texture because it’s watery and not sticky at all, it absorbs into skin quickly as well. Although the scent is not my favourite, I like how my underarms stay fresh and clean throughout the day, even though sometimes I get sweaty. As you can see from the before-after picture, after I use it for around a week, I can see that my underarms look slightly brighter. Fyi, I have this habit of shaving during the shower, later after that I apply the deodorant and it makes my underarms well-moisturised. I never get any after-shaving problems since I use this deodorant.

Pros:

Brighten underarms in just around a week
Moisturise underarms’ skin

Cons:

The scent is not my preference
The tube size is quite bigger than others.

Overall, I have no problem using this deodorant everyday because it maintains underarms’ freshness for a whole day so it makes me feel more confident. I would highly suggest you try it especially when you do activities a whole day. I may only use it for around a week, but I am sure I’ll see a significant result afterwards. In conclusion, compared to the previous deodorant, I can see the difference and I would continue to wear it daily! After trying this, it confirms to me that the use of deodorant has become indispensable for many individuals (including me) due to its ability to combat body odor, provide freshness and confidence, regulate excessive sweating, and adhere to societal expectations of personal hygiene.

By the way, LOVANA deodorant has been legally registered in BPOM, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Skincare is something that I can’t skip a day without. I’ve been trying various kinds of skincare products - keeping the good ones, skipping the bad ones (of course not all skincare suits my normal-dry skin type). The most disappointing moment is when the skincare is quite pricey plus it doesn’t suit my skin because I can’t force myself to keep using it anyway. On the other hand, if I got skincare that suits my skin and it’s affordable, I would call it a blessing!

I can read what’s in your mind, “How could it be possible?”. Same question pops out in my thoughts when I first knew it. Lucky me, I got a chance to try them out so I can share with you my experience with this viral skincare that claims it is made from natural ingredients. Let’s get into it!

1. GLAD2GLOW POMEGRANATE 10% NIACINAMIDE POWER BRIGHT SERUM

One thing that I really like about this serum since the first time is its lightweight and non-greasy texture, making it suitable for all skin types. The key ingredient, pomegranate extract, as the antioxidant properties, helps combat free radicals and promote a more youthful complexion. It absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any residue, thanks to the watery texture. It’s also quite economical because I only need 2-3 pumps to use all over my face and neck. Although I am not a fan of the scent, I like how it makes my skin feel plumpy the day after (as always, I like to test during the night time to see how it gives an impact the next morning).

Once my skin was in a full redness because of wearing too much makeup, then I applied this moisturizer, it gives extra moisture and my skin feels better the next morning!

As you can see from the picture above, my skin was in a bad condition - inflamed skin, acne on the chin. I was quite stressed about it, so I used this combo. I can see that my redness is reduced and I am pretty sure the moisturizer contributes a lot to this. My skin feels brighter and plumpy as well. However, as I mentioned before, I can’t use this brightening series during my hormonal period because the acne keeps on coming, therefore I need to combine it with Salicylic Acid skincare to calm my skin.

Magical Christmas 2023 at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Here comes again my favorite time of the year! This time, I wanted to highlight one of the most exquisite Christmas decoration I saw at the most iconic shopping mall in Singapore, Marina Bay Sands. Collaborated with Christian Dior Beauty, this year's decoration is truly magical : the carousel, golden Christmas trees, and the lights!

I came to this mall late at night around 9 PM, all the stores were closed already but all the Christmas lights were still on. It became even more magical and wonderful, quiet and peaceful - surrounded by the lights here and plenty of Christmas trees. Unfortunately I was alone there, no one helped to take picture but that didn't stop me to memorize this moment, so you can check the TikTok video I made for this exceptional moment.

Halloween 2023

This year's Halloween might be different compared to previous year. Since I am not into horror stuffs anymore, Halloween is all about having a blast with colleagues, friends, and unleashing creativity through costumes. It's not just about the spooky season, but also a chance to let loose and have some fun. Don't you agree with me?

The festive event started since last Friday when I joined a cocktail party at the well-known Italian restaurant in Surabaya called Alba Ristorante. Fyi, I am not good at drinking but I thought a glass of cocktail will be fine - apparently it's not. I got tipsy once I drank it! It was a fun time there with friends but I had to deal with headache the morning after. I should just drink juice or water, lol.

The next Sunday, I found a cute drink shop fully decorated with Halloween stuffs. It was pretty cute and my sister said that my outfit is similar to Wednesday Addams (with no braid), so I took pictures there!

While on the peak day, which is today on October 31st, we had a Halloween event at our office with Hogwarts theme. We all dressed up as Hogwarts students and took picture together. I initially dressed up as Hermione, not sure if I successfully resembled her, but I am quite satisfied with my costume today.

In my opinion, Halloween is a moment when you can truly express yourself and let your personality shine through. Gather with friends, get those costume ideas flowing - because when you're surrounded by great company and creative outfits, it's bound to be an unforgettable night of tricks, treats, and endless memories!

Most of us know that using sunscreen is necessary, no matter which activity we are doing, indoors or outdoors. Spending time outside exposes our skin to damaging ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet A and Ultraviolet B are sunlight that harm our skin while blue light that comes from gadgets might be dangerous for our skin as well.

One of the primary reasons why we need to wear sunscreen is to protect ourselves from the risk of developing skin cancer. By applying sunscreen regularly, we can significantly reduce this risk and ensure that our skin remains healthy.

I always wonder, “Do I need higher SPF sunscreen to protect my skin better?”. I explored through some articles and I finally got the answer that really makes sense but first things first, let’s talk about SPF.

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, which means it is the amount of time the sunscreen will protect skin from UV rays. The higher SPF, the longer protection will last. For example, with SPF 30, it would take 30 times longer to burn skin than if we weren’t wearing sunscreen. Therefore, in ideal conditions, sunscreen with higher SPF protection offers more protection against sunburn, UVA damage, and DNA damage. However, with high SPF that doesn’t claim we’re fully protected - that’s why we need to re-apply it (at least every two hours) and wear shades when we’re about to do outdoor activity. Moreover, if the sunscreen offers UVA and UVB protection, it is labelled as Broad Spectrum which means it provides protection from both damaging forms of radiation, isn’t it perfect?

Based on this knowledge, I would say now I know well which type of sunscreen suits me. TEXTURE:

White-yellowish, creamy, thick texture that makes it quite hard to blend but it has a fresh, pleasant scent.

REVIEW:

I only need 2 knuckles to apply this sunscreen, then I apply it onto my face and neck after applying day cream and yes! It needs a while for it to completely blend and absorb into my skin. The scent doesn’t bother me at all although it’s not my favourite. What I like the most about this sunscreen: it moisturizes my skin very well, makes my skin brighter and fresh. It hydrates my skin and makes it glowing but it doesn’t leave any white cast. Here’s the hack: I usually layer the sunscreen with loose powder so the moisture is still locked, but it doesn’t make my skin less greasy. From the picture above, you can see the before-after using the sunscreen, my skin looks brighter (less dull) and smooth. However, I should admit that after 4-5 hours, my skin starts to look oily although I mostly stay indoors.

As It truly protects my skin from UVA & UVB rays, I will keep using this sunscreen, but maybe without moisturizer before because I think this works as moisturizer too! What do you think? Summer Holiday In Bali 2023

When it comes to summer holiday, Bali might be our one of the top list destination no matter where we currently stay at the moment. Lucky me, Bali is just less than one hour flight from my city so I don't find it hard to get there. This summer holiday, I spent it with the best companion (my sister and my best friend) for 5 days and I would say Bali always has new things to offer - although it is not my first time coming to Bali this year (I went there last April for my close friend's wedding). Anyway before the summer ends, I wanted to share my experiences in Bali, hope you can feel the excitement by reading this article!

DAY 1 - Exploring Seminyak (Part 1)

We arrived in Bali on Saturday noon around 12 p.m so we couldn't check-in the hotel yet. Therefore, we decided to just have lunch in our all-time favorite Japanese restaurant, Rayjin. They offer the best teppanyaki and the taste never changes since years ago. Then after checking-in, we continued strolling around Seminyak, and accidentally found Bali Beach Bowl. It's a vegan/vegetarian restaurant as it offers plenty of plant-based meals and smoothies. We ordered plant-based snack, smoothies, and whole coconut - lucky us, they gave a free whole coconut if we submitted Google review, so I did it! Frankly, this place is really worth to visit if you're into plant-based meals!

On the evening we managed to visit art gallery named Feliz' Eye, located nearby Seminyak Village (they also have branch in Ubud). I always find joy whenever I come to art gallery and this place gives all the mood I need. Although the place is not very spacious, but the place is decent enough for us to enjoy and buy painting from various artists. Later after that, we went to Motel Mexicola. I would say it's the highlight of the day because it's my first time coming there for, well, a party. I thought it would be too much for me, turns out it's not. I enjoyed the musics there because most of the musics are not too loud and the people there are decent enough, they don't bother each other. I probably thinking to go back there again when I come to Bali!

DAY 2 - Exploring Seminyak (Part 2)

Still in Seminyak area, early in the Sunday morning we went to Livingstone. I had almond pistachio croissant paired with Canggu blend latte, best pairing before a long day ahead. While for lunch, we went to El Greco to try Greek foods for the first time. Unexpectedly super good, we really enjoyed all of them . They taste more like Italian but with less spices. The waiter gave us free Limoncello as drink compliment, unfortunately it contains alcohol so I can't drink it.

Later after that, we went strolling around Seminyak, stopping at some local boutiques, shops, and Kim Soo for perfume and reed diffuser. Anyway, we ended up chilling at Mano Beach House, had a bottle of Kombucha and snack, until a friend from Belgium came and said hi. We had a nice chit-chat and caught the sunset together. It was a beautiful day and we ended the day by having dinner at Mad Ronin, the viral ramen house at Seminyak. We managed to have quick photo booth there!

DAY 3 - Ubud

Going to Bali without visiting Ubud feels like something is missing. Ubud is definitely my favorite place in Bali because of the nice weather, plenty of arts, nice resorts, and Sayuri. I went to Sayuri last year during summer break in Bali to meet a friend and I had a nice memory there, so I visited it again. It's a vegan/vegetarian restaurant with plenty of menu options and they have lot of activities such as yoga class, cooking class, language class, etc. The place is very homy and the foods there are my favorite!

After finishing lunch there, I accompanied my sister to have lunch (yes we have different preference of food, she is more into meats while I am more into fruits and plants, lol). We went to a super unique restaurant named Clear Cafe, the place is super cozy, surrounded by plants and woods, they also required us to take off the footwear before entering the place. My sister said the pasta is really good, I ordered the veggies juice but it was not my taste.

Feeling fulfilled with vegan stuffs, we went to our resort, Suara Alam Ubud, managed by Ini Vie Hospitality. This resort supposedly a honeymoon resort, but well, I spent there with my sister which I know it's kinda awkward but anyway - we enjoyed the resort so much. It's not far from the main street, very quiet, convenient, surrounded by the nature. The signal is pretty good and it's easy to order Grab or Gojek, breakfast foods are really good as well - however they don't have spa and gym facility yet, only 1 medium size pool and 2 small pools.

DAY 4 - Canggu & Jimbaran

After a peaceful day in Ubud, we moved to the most hyped area these days, Canggu. I drove around 2 hours to get there. The traffic was so bad and I had lacked of sleep, so 7.AM Bakers to the rescue. Their latte is really good and awoke me, however I didn't manage to try their well-known avocado toast (recommended by Belgian friend) because my sister got so pissed off with Canggu's traffic already. So we gave up our hotel in Canggu and just immediately booked another hotel in Jimbaran. Blessing in disguise! The hotel, Jimbaran Bay Beach Hotel & Resort where we stayed is just in front of the beach and it's very convenient. From the rooftop we can see breath-taking view and we managed to catch the sunset again before we leave the day after. We also had a decent dinner at hotel's restaurant, had a deep talk with my sister and I feel so blessed that we moved to Jimbaran instead of staying in Canggu.

DAY 5 - Pizza Feast, Art Gallery

Finally the last day. We didn't do much at Jimbaran as we rushed to buy some stuffs to bring back home for family and friends. We just had lunch at L'Osteria, Italian restaurant in Jimbaran (they also have branches in Canggu and Ubud). The place is very thematic and the foods are amazing. We had pizza and Bruschetta, the portion made us food coma but we really pleased! Later after that, we just had some killing time before going to airport. I drove to Kuta to initially visit an art gallery there but it's so hard to find parking! Thank God my sister found another art gallery located near the airport so we went there, Gallery Zen. It's not bad, all of the arts we enjoyed are contemporary arts - very cute and colorful!

It's a wrap! Five days summer holiday in Bali is finally come to an end. This makes me realized how I have this love and hate relationship with airport. However, since Bali is pretty close with my city, I am sure I'll go back there soon - fingers are crossed, this time with my lover!

It doesn't leave any greasy, sticky feeling, plus it makes skin instantly hydrated and moisturized. When I use it before makeup, it makes my makeup perfectly set and stays longer. When I use it on the evening, the next morning my skin looks glowing, fresh, and plumpy! Although I haven't seen the result of reducing fine lines yet, this serum doesn't harm my period acnes (which means their ingredients are safe for sensitive skin as well). That's why I am currently sticking to this serum everyday!

Review:

Fyi, my skin type is dry-combination and I use this brightening serum during PMS period, which means my skin becomes more sensitive. From the before picture, you can see how dull and dry my skin is, plus it’s sensitive to acne as well. However, after using this brightening serum several times, my skin feels hydrated, moist, and radiant. I like to use it every night before sleep and layer it with moisturizer.

The texture of a serum can be a major factor in determining how effective it is. I would say, I am not a big fan of the texture because it’s between watery and gel, plus it requires some time for it to totally absorb into the skin. Unfortunately, I find it the texture of this serum to be unpleasant. This can make it difficult to use them consistently, as the texture can make them unappealing or even off-putting. Fortunately, there are ways to adjust the texture of this brightening serum so that it is more comfortable and pleasant to use. By understanding what causes the unpleasant texture and adjusting accordingly, you can get the most out of this brightening serum without compromising on comfort or result, and we’re talking about the greasiness. What I like the most about this product is because it doesn’t leave any greasy or sticky feeling. Although I can’t see the result on how it is able to even skin tone and remove acne scars, I would say this is a great product to try if you’re not into vitamin C as main ingredient.

It might help to reduce the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and other discolorations on the skin. As every skin type has different result, I would recommend this serum for dry to normal skin instead of oily skin because the texture might not be oily skin’s favourite.

Yesterday, I had a little conversation with one of my colleague that makes me consider about one two things about myself. Long story short, she showed me her photo in wedding dress for a photoshoot and said that she really loves the dress that makes she wants to get married. I feel happy when I see her getting excited talking about her dream wedding dress - but in other hand, I started to ask myself : What about me? Do I have a dream wedding?

I've been single for quite long time and currently just focusing on my career. It's not like I don't have time for dating, of course, I do really want to! But it's just getting more difficult to meet the right man as I get more mature, or I would say, older. All of these times, we are only familiar with body lotion but nowadays there are plenty of beauty brands that produce various types of body care which seems similar to body lotion, some of them are body serum, body cream, and so on. Sounds confusing sometimes that we may end up using body lotion all over again. However, aren’t you curious about the difference between all of these body care products? Because I am!

Recently I’ve been introduced to Scarlett Whitening’s version of the body care series consisting of body serum, body cream, and body lotion. I’ve been using their body lotion several times but this is my first time trying their body serum and body cream. All of them are coming in Jolly series so that helps me to make comparisons.

1. BODY LOTION

Body lotion is a lightweight moisturizer that contains higher water content than body cream. Body lotion tends to feel less greasy and absorbs quickly into skin. It suits for all skin types, but normal to oily skin might find it works very well.

With the help of Hyaluronic Acid, 5 Phyto Oil, Shea Butter, and Aloe Vera extract, this body cream claims to be able to moisturize 4x times deeper than usual body cream.

5 Phyto Oil: to moisturize and smoothen skin, helps to maintain skin’s health.
Shea Butter: to maintain skin’s rejuvenation, makes skin feel firm.

Glutathione: to even skin tone.
Titanium Dioxide: to protect skin from side effects of UV rays.

How to use:

Apply body cream on the dry part of skin to help add moisture. For me, the best time to use body cream is straight after a shower when skin is still a little bit damp because it helps to secure more hydration into the skin. I like to use it at night before sleeping as well.

Tall yet sturdy plastic bottle packaging, securely sealed with plastic lock on the neck of the pump. You can secure the lock by turning it to the left-right, just like how the body lotion packaging. The product is sealed with plastic wrap as well.

Texture:

Review:

Because the texture is thicker than body lotion, this body cream needs a longer time to fully absorb into the skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy feeling and the scent is as strong as the body lotion. I like how it gives extra moisture to my dry skin and gives a fresh sensation after use. Just like body lotion, the scent stays for quite a long time as well.

If you're an aromatic scent lover like me, congratulations! You have arrived on the right page. Recently I’ve been introduced to the newest variant from Indonesia’s most hyped beauty brand, SCARLETT WHITENING. The newest scent is called Jolly, and I have to say this scent makes me intrigued to try it as soon as possible when I first receive the product (somehow it gives a certain positive vibe for me too, lol). For your information, I have tried almost all of the Scarlett Whitening body care series (you probably can check out my previous review about Scarlett Whitening’s body care series at the search button), but among all of them, this one caught my attention the most. Jolly, is the combination of 3 different scents : coffee, white flowers, and vanilla - that makes it defined as a Floriental Gourmand scent. How interesting is that?

This time, I’m sharing my honest opinion about two of their body care products which are shower scrub and body scrub, both in Jolly series. So, let’s keep scrolling to get to know more about them and what’s the difference and specialty compared to other variants!

1. SHOWER SCRUB - JOLLY

What it is:

It helps to maintain skin elasticity and moisture, brighten skin, maximizing during the shower. It contains:

Glutathione : to brighten and even skin tone, maintain skin moisture, and make skin smooth and soft.
Vitamin E : to maintain skin tightness and prevent skin damage.
Hydrolyzed Collagen: to maintain skin elasticity and moisture.
Gentle scrub particles to regenerate, moisturise, and brighten skin.

Scarlett Whitening’s shower scrub also comes in other variants: pomegranate (fresh, sweet scent), mango (fresh), cucumber (fresh), coffee (sweet, calming), charming (floral, ambery woody), freshy (citrus-floral fruity).

How to:

Apply shower scrub onto the body evenly and rub gently, then rinse with water (lukewarm or cold water).

Packaging:

Sturdy see-through plastic bottle with flip top cap, securely sealed with plastic wrap.

Texture:

Thick gel texture with super gentle scrub and pleasant coffee-floral-vanilla scent.

Review:

There are two ways to use this shower scrub. You can apply it onto your body right away or use a foaming net. For me personally, I like to use a foaming net because I like it foamy rather than just directly applying it on to my body. I really love this scent! It’s very rich yet calming, sensual at the same time (can you imagine that?). Although the scent doesn’t last longer than the coffee variant, its staying power is quite decent. It’s able to stay approximately 2-3 hours after a shower. It leaves a slightly greasy feeling after use, but it doesn’t bother me at all because the greasiness fades afterwards. It makes my skin clean and moisturised, fresh at the same time!

2. BODY SCRUB - JOLLY

What it is:

This body scrub claims to help exfoliate dead skin cells, helps to brighten and even skin tone, maintain skin moisture, and helps to make skin soft and smooth. It contains:

Glutathione : to brighten and even skin tone, maintain skin moisture, and make skin smooth and soft.
Vitamin E : to reduce mild skin irritation, maintain skin tightness, elasticity, and moisture, plus keep it away from side effects of UV rays.

Packaging:

Standard plastic jar sealed with plastic wrap dominated with orange-pink design, while the product is securely sealed with foil. I would say it’s quite difficult to open the foil seal, lol.

Texture:

Super dense creamy texture scrub with strong aromatic Floriental Gourmand scent (similar with the shower scrub but stronger).

Review:

I like to use this body scrub before washing, when the skin is still dry. Despite its dense texture, the body scrub can exfoliate dead skin well without hurting my skin. Just like the shower scrub, I love the scent of the body scrub as well! My skin feels super clean and smooth after using this body scrub. Although it claims it can brighten the skin, I don’t really see the obvious result yet but one thing for sure it makes my skin feel refreshed. Does it leave a greasy feeling? The answer is slightly yes. I just need to rinse it with plenty of water. However, I like how the scent stays for quite a long time after use (around 3-4 hours perhaps) and it gives a relaxing sensation too. Fyi, I use the body scrub 2 times a week (too much exfoliation is not good for skin).

Obviously because of the pleasant scent and the staying power! Its rich, sensual scent makes me want to use them every time I shower. I would say it’s my favourite scent from Scarlett Whitening so far and I hope they will innovate with a more aromatic scent like this (most likely I might skip using another brand).
