The Green Lot at Chemeketa’s Salem Campus has re-opened, making it possible to park closer to the library (Building 9). The only entrance to that lot is via Winema Place and South Campus Loop. (A portion of the Green Lot will be blocked off for painting through approximately June 21.)

The outdoor book drop is still located in the 20 minute parking spaces on the north side Building 2, near the stop sign on Satter. The book drop will remain at that location until paving work is completed and the main entrance to the college reopens.

Chemeketa’s Salem campus is undergoing road work this summer, which affects access to parking, buses, and the library’s book drop. Satter Drive will be the only access from Lancaster Drive NE until the re-opening of Winema Place from South campus (July 22?).

Due to lack of access, the parking lot nearest the library, the Green Lot, will be closed until Winema re-opens. The library suggests that if you enter via Satter from Lancaster Dr. NE, you park in the Blue Lot (See map). From the end of the blue lot you can enter Building 2 and take the skybridge system to Building 9, the library.

Starting Monday, June 22 the Cherriots routes 2 and 11 bus stops for the Salem campus will be relocated to Lancaster Drive stops nearest the college entrance until further notice.

The exterior book drop is being moved to the parking area near the west-facing corner of building 2, just past the stop sign on Satter.

Chemeketa’s librarians have long collected web sites that may be useful for students of the college. Now they have created a set of specialized search engines for different subjects. Each one searches a specific set of sites which librarians often use to help students answer their questions.

The page has searches for subjects from Art to Writing. Give it a try and please comment. The searches are still a work in progress and we anticipate that they will be improved, so please give us specific feedback on searches you tried that didn’t work out (or worked great), and why.

The library has purchased a new shared collection of NetLibrary electronic books. This collection joins the 4,000+ e-books already in the library catalog.The collection is one specially geared to community college libraries and includes a range of topics, including careers, nursing/allied health, management, and more, including many technical subjects.
