Who is Florence Broadhurst I hear you asking and what makes her so cool?

Florence Broadhurst was born in 1899 and died in 1977 and was an eccentric and talented Australian woman. After an amazing life overseas filled with a variety of careers, Florence started a wallpaper business in the 1950s and had created over 800 designs by the 70's.

Her work has inspired generations of designers, with a more recent collaboration with Kate Spade. 2013 Emmy's Best Dressed

Did anyone see the Emmy's? Unfortunately I didn't, but I did see the fashions! Am loving these key colours that dominated the red carpet, lots of blue, soft pink, deep purple/reds and who can forget classic black and white. As you can see jewellery was kept very minimal with drop earrings being the main feature as these gals let their frocks do the talking. I can't go past the dress worn by Linda Cardellinie, I love the layering of the fabric and how it still shows off her gorgeous shape. The colour pops against her lovely pale complexion and hair looks divine. The back is quite low which balances the proportions of the front so nicely. Which ones your favourite?

Kate Spade Spring 2014 at NYFW

There's no denying I love Kate Spade, so I was eagerly anticipating their showing of Spring 2014 at New York Fashion Week. As I had hoped, there are many pieces which I am coveting and trying to think of ways that this Australian girl can make a few purchases. Perhaps a short getaway is in order? I am in love with the navy and white dress featuring a silver zipper detail at the front, the orange coat with big side bow and who can go past that stunning pink and navy tweed coat! The make up was very 60's inspired, featuring a bright white eye and soft pink lip.Images sourced from Lauren Conrad.

If you haven’t heard of her, where have you been? Our girl of the moment without a doubt is Megan Hess! The fabulous fashion illustrator has captured my eyes for some time now. Megan is the epitome of chic classic girly style with her illustrations for the likes of Chanel, Laduree, Monet Blanc, Tiffany and Co and let’s not forget that magnificent cover for Candice Bushnell’s One Fifth Avenue that catapulted here career into the eyes of the world’s top brands. Her book, Fashion House is classic Megan Hess with each page a feast for the eyes. Not only are her illustrations to die for, wait till you see her apartment it is stunning! Recently featured in Adore Home magazine her home features original sketches, beautiful collectibles sourced from her travels and off course a simple feminine touch. On my wish list are her stunning cushions she has designed, only problem is, I can’t decide which one I want!

Wednesday Wedding Inspiration

We are in full wedding planning mode at home and I must say, it has been very challenging organising a wedding when you live in a different state! However, it makes one very organised. While we were organising a venue someone told me to stop collecting bridal magazines as dust collectors and start ripping out all the pretty pictures that I like and start making a scrapbook. These were very wise words as I have found it has assisted us to gain our own unique style. Here is some of my ceremony inspiration!

I am so excited that spring is at our doorstep! Now that I am living in Melbourne it is lovely to experience 4 seasons, however being a Queenslander at heart, I long for the sunshine and beautiful summer days. Spring/Summer makes people have a spring in their step, is motivating and did I mention daylight saving? I think this is THE best part of living down south. The thought of spring also brings with it the chance to see your friends and long lunches. Who do you look to for inspiration on this? The ladies of NYC off course! The accessories are OUTSTANDING and the hats BREATHTAKING! If you want to see more, check out Ann Street Studio. Martha and Bill where there off course. ps if you haven't seen the doco on Bill Cunningham, it is a must for any fashionista! This man despises celebrity and celebrates the ordinary individual for their individual style. His zest for life is also outstanding. Enjoy.

A Year later

I cannot believe it has almost been a year since my last blog entry and feel that my life has experienced so many changes since then. I did loose some of my sparkle for a small period of time last year which is why the blog has been neglected. But now the sparkle is back!

So what have I been up to since March 2012? I moved from Brisbane in September 2012 and am now living in Melbourne. I also got engaged to my beloved Michael in December 2012 which was a wonderful surprise. I am now finally feeling settled in Melbourne as I am slowly getting my bearings on where things are and absolutely loving all the fabulous fashion and home wares stores that this wonderful city has to offer. I have also grown a lot as a person and feel that I am starting to feel like a "real adult". This might seem silly to some but moving interstate has at times been quite challenging and now being engaged makes me feel like I am no longer wandering through the world aimlessly as we now start creating our family of the both of us (no children just yet!).

I want my blog to reflect my life and what inspires me through fashion, home, travel and the people we meet in our lives. You might also see some renovations to the look and feel over the coming weeks too.

It's good to be back!

I have been having major op shopping withdrawals lately and decided to head to a few of my favourite haunts as well as a few new ones. I definitely came home with some fantastic finds! I purchased most of these items all from different stores.

My favourite find would have to be my gorgeous 1960's Kriesler radio! I could not believe it when I found her... It was most definately love at first sight. She was very dirty and grubby, but with a bit of cleaning she has come up a dream. I have been wanting to purchase a "Blush" radio (reproduction retro look alike radio) for a while, but now I have my very own authentic retro gem.

Fashion Icons: Iris Apfel

During New York Fashion Week recently the iconic Iris Apfel collapsed and later passed away. I have always admired her style as she was never afraid to take risks, always enjoyed being different and was never seen without those oversized glasses!

For those of you who do not know her, Apfel worked for the iconic Women's Wear Daily and for interior designer Elinor Johnson. In honour of her, MAC cosmetics has recently launched a limited edition range. I am so very excited as the lipsticks are nice bright luscious colours which look so stunning! I know what I will be doing this weekend... MAC here I come!

Oh my how quickly time can go!! I am soo terribly sorry that I have been M.I.A! There has been so much happening in my world it has been all systems go as of late! I recently held a stall at a local farmers market and it was such a great success. I was so thrilled to hear all the wonderful comments from all my wonderful customers. Hearing such wonderful things somehow makes it all seem worthwhile. I will now do it on a regular basis. I have also recently scored a new job which I am extremely excited about and am really looking forward to learning and applying my knowledge to.

Having said all that, enough about me and more on what is inspiring me at the moment! Lets talk about Fashion Week.... Oh My God!!! Where do I start!!!! How about with Preen ss12. All I can say is bring on the pastels and my favourite... the pretty peplums, collars, longer sleeves and stunning graphic prints. Which outfit is your favourite?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours surprisingly enough was focused on putting together our new bed frame for our spare room yet we had no intention of buying anything new for our house. I love it that when you are not looking for something, you might go to a few shops and in our case 1 shop and find exactly what you are looking for. We must have had lady luck on our side. I am so excited to tell you all that last night I listed a handful of products onto our etsy shop! I am very excited about this all finally coming together!! The plan has changed so many times, but now we are finally online through etsy.

As a first time etsy seller, the experience has been surprisingly easy. I thought there was going to be a lot of hoops to jump through in order to list something through your shop, but I was presently surprised. The only difficulties I did face was linking my shop with my facebook page, however I seemed to have figured it out... I think?!

One of the best things about etsy is the shop statistics which you can view to gain insights into the number of visitors to different products, your shop in general and different traffic sources. I am sure this info will become very useful once the store develops a little more and hopefully can gain repeat customers.

Below are the things that are currently for sale in my etsy shop. I will be listing more items throughout the rest of the week. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can really sense that 2012 is going to be a fantastic year!!

I am so excited for 2012!! The last week has been very busy as I have been going through all of the things for our online shop in preparation to start selling. I have set up my little office which I will photograph all of my products, answer buyer questions and package all of my items to send to wonderful customers.

As I have been addicted to vintage since I was in high school I have always dreamed of one day selling my wares and spreading the joy that comes with vintage items. I understand that it's not for everyone, but it is something that I truly love.

I will be selling my items online through etsy. I have never purchased or sold anything through this website but I am looking forward to joining their community of sellers and who knows where all this might lead to? I will start of selling small items like handbags, belts, earrings, shoes, sunglasses. Once I get hang of selling these items and how etsy works, I will start to sell clothing, and boy do I have a lot of wonderful clothing pieces to sell. At the moment, I am photographing lots of items and will hopefully have these listed by the end of this week.

I thought I would share some photos of my office that I have set up. The desk and 2 bookcases are all from IKEA. The cute chair was built by my great grandfather and I am currently seeking a cute checkered cushion. The pretty painting is called the "weeping rose" and is by Tretchikoff. It was given to me by a colleague at work. It is such a stunning picture, I absolutely love it so much. I love the colours and I often find myself wondering about the meaning of it. My other items include a cute cath kidston tray which was a gift from my mum and the various nick nacks which I have placed on this tray are all thrifted finds. I particularly love the pin cushion which is made from a teacup. It is absolutely adorable. I recently picked up the peach coloured shell from a thrift store and purchased the eiffel tower book ends from target last year. I was given the magnetic white board for christmas and it is from Typo and I have had the cute cupcake and cake magnets for a while which now have the perfect new home. My macaroon tins are from spotlight.

Today's post is something I have lusted after forrrreevverrrrr!! I wouldn't necessarily use it for the purpose it was used for but I would definately love for it to feature in my house. What is it you ask? Well, it is an antique cash register. They are very rare in Australia and very very hard to come by. If I ever find one for sale in excellent condition and at a great price I know my thrifting angels are looking after me.

Is a constellation mirror from Laura Ashley. For a few years now I have always picked up a copy of the Laura Ashley catalogue and have lusted after their starburst mirror. I am not sure where I would put it, but I am sure I could find a spot somewhere.
