Spectrum Noir Markers

I just ordered new alcohol pens from Crafters Companion called Spectrum Noir. I received them yesterday and tested them out. WoW! They blend well and I like how they feel when I color. I have been using Copics but they are getting too expensive. With these markers they are about 1/4 of the price and color just as nice.

There are 12 sets of 6 markers which is the essential colors. Then there are 4 packs of 24 that build around the core colors giving you 168 colors total. I know that Copic has more colors in their color chart and are wonderful markers, these markers are perfect for someone like me.

Cute cards with WOTG Typeset and Cricut Philosophy

Hello Everyone,

Today I wanted to show you a few cards I made using the CTMH Typeset WOTG and the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. What is really neat about this cartridge is that there are several card shapes that can be cut a different size making it a gem for card makers.

The stamp set in the kit has some images that coordinate with the Cricut Cartridge which made making these cute cards a breeze. I used the Typeset WOTG kit, wooden buttons, Cocoa ink and re-inker, and some thread. Hint: When using this kit, save the tab at the top of the pattern paper. You can use it to help embellish the cards.

Old House with Studio J

Hello Everyone,

Today, I have a 2 page layout of a very old house using the Studio J digital studio. I like how I could take the photos and rearrange them, resize them and even go black-n-white with a click of the mouse.

I am not sure what happened with this house. I am sure there is a story but I really liked how the house was sitting with the trees. Here is the picture of the left page:

I ordered this layout to be printed and with that I received a jpeg image. Nice to be able to post it to my blog.

Canvas Mini Album

Hello Everyone,

I have been in such a creative funk. I have made a few things and wasn’t inspired to put them on my blog because they didn’t do much for me. Today, I received the Limited Edition Kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I love these kits. There is so much in them. I had browsed their blog and saw a designer create a mini album with the canvas sheet that came in the kit and suddenly I was inspired.

I found some older photos that were sitting around and thought they would be perfect for this album. I took the 12x12 sheet and cut it into 4 6x6 squares. Using my color catcher, I Glimmer Misted and Pearl Ex sprayed each square with various colors. For the cover I used several of the die cuts that came in the kit to create a layered affect. I added pearls to the butterflies and punched two holes on the side for the ribbon.

I used various flowers and die cuts to the pages framing this photo taken back in 1939. I used a prima vine that came in the kit along with some rub-ons to create the adjoining page. Some fussy cutting was also used in the frame on the right page.

On these two pages I cut out some frames that were on a 12x12 sheet of paper from the kit and used it as a backdrop for the photo on the left. I placed a die cut crown over the little boys head and thought wow at such a young age…Dream Big!

The photo on the left spans 4 generations. I glimmer misted the white flower yellow and something happened where parts of the flower turned pink. I loved the affect and had to use it with this photo.

All in all I really love how this turned out. I am amazed how I am able to create different artwork by just being myself.

That scrapbooking thing has got me for sure; I start with the best of intentions! Just let me check the CK website-- Oh look! A list of conventions!

Snacking is good to help with my scrappin' Though I tend to overindulge. Cakes and cookies and chocolates galore! My bulges are starting to bulge!

Oh my! How I buy the things I don't need Eyelets and ribbons and vellums. If anyone asks, "I've had it for years!" At least, that's what I tell 'em!

A scrap room? What's that? Stuff's all over the house I suffer from *CHAOS,* you know, No one comes, no one visits, except UPS He's my very best friend, that Joe!

Buy now! It's on sale! They won't have it again! The gadgets, the papers, the glues Look at the money that I can save! How can I possibly lose???

Organization is an area where I am certainly lacking I need help with that, others say But how can I do it? I've got things to do! How can I waste a whole day?

So here I sit amongst all of my clutter Housekeeping's a thing of the past Dusting and vacuuming and tidying up What's the point??? It just doesn't last!

I have too many ideas and not enough time They say that denial is rough I have it...I know it....can't find it.... Oh well....I'll just buy some more stuff.

I know that they pay me to do a good job But this 8 to 5 job gets so stressful I need a vacation...I need to relax... And then I will be more successful!

I spend time at work doing scrapbooking things I search for a phrase or a verse The perfect layout is all that I need My addiction is more like a curse!

I tell my husband that if I should die The best thing for him to do Is to have a garage or a fire sale And be sure to include all of Y-O-U!

I guess I'm a sinner, so give me my penance And hurry! Send me on my way! I've a 40% coupon right here in my purse Oh my gosh....it expires today!

Layout and Blog Candy Winner!

Hello Everyone

Today, I first wanted to show you a layout using the August kit from My Creative Scrapbook with a picture I took of an old abandon house. I was inspired by the view of the house and thought the papers in the kit would show it off nicely:

For my base I used a pale piece of script paper and inked the edges with CTMH Blush ink. Then I took another piece of paper from the kit that had the doily design and cut out the doily and then inked the edges with CTMH Blush ink.

In the upper corner of the left side I folded back the gray doily and added a chipboard die cut that I inked with the blush ink and added some flowers that were included in the kit.

There was a piece of lace that came in the kit, using the technique described on their blog, I stitched the lace to create a circle and then added to the center of the lace a broach that came in the kit.

I added two pieces of chipboard die cuts underneath the photo. I inked the photo edges with blush ink and popped it up on foam. I added a cluster of flowers to the lower left edge of the photo. I have never really used die cut flowers because I can never seem to get the look right. However, K & Company had some really beautiful die cuts so I played around and created a really nice bouquet.

Under the photo, I cut a piece of pink paper to offset the black-n-white photo and added a white doily that I inked the edges with Blush ink. In the upper right I again created a bouquet of flowers from the flowers in the kit which really balances the layout and it all most looks like the wild flowers extends from the photo onto the page.

Updated Scraproom Pictures

Hello Everyone,

After I filmed my scraproom, I decided that it didn’t flow well so I made some changes. I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased 4 more of the white cubes and reorganized my room again. Below are some of the pictures of the newly updated room:

This picture is the view as you wall into the room. I organized my desk area, changed the chair and added the cubes on each side and a light.

On the left wall, I created a paper storage unit with the extra cubes I got at Hobby Lobby. I organized my paper and chipboard. It flows really nicely with the book case and the shelves. I added my books and some containers to the top with gives it a nice touch.

I kept the old desk as my sewing machine but cleared it off to allow for more room.

Together Layout–My Creative Scrapbook Kit

Hello Everyone,

For today’s post, I created a layout using the material in the July kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

I originally tried a technique demonstrated by one of the design team members and it didn’t turn out right. She did quite a bit of fussy cutting and I am not the worlds best cutter. Here is what the layout started like:

About the only thing I left from this original was the bottom piece of 12x12. I inked the edges with SU new In Color Coral along the edges and then used SU’s Chocolate Chip to ink the very edges of the paper. I did use a masking technique on the page as well. I trimmed down the page to 11x11 and adhered it to another piece of Webster’s pages at an angled. I took a piece of dimensional elements borders from CTMH and inked it with Chocolate Chip and then sprayed it with Pearl Ex Copper. I snipped it at 7 inches and adhered it on the left side and the top right.

For the photo, I cut a piece of Webster’s Pages as my center. I added to pieces of chipboard in the lower corner and then added the photo mat on top. The mat is chocolate chip and I inked the edges with SU chocolate ink. I placed dimensionals underneath to prop it up a little. I used a piece of rose lace that came in the kit and adhered it on top of the green paper and had it extend to the edge of the layout.

On the upper left flower cluster, I used a variety of prima flowers and a charm that came in the kit. I had an extra piece of chipboard left over from another project that I used to anchor the flowers.

In the lower right corner, I colored a dimensional element heart from CTMH and sprayed it with Pearl Ex copper and attached it slightly under the photo. I added a chipboard element on top of the heart. I attached various prima and kit flowers to the page.

Finally, I learned that my layout should have a triangle like formation of color so in the lower left corner, I added a chipboard element along with a button from CTMH with some hemp in the middle. I had some chipboard words left from another project that I added to the center of the chipboard piece.

Hello Everyone

Today, I have a layout where the photo has a very special meaning for me. We met 23 years ago and stayed together for about 2 years when I left to join the Army. Twenty-one years later, we have reconnected. I came across this photo in an old photo album and decided to create a page to showcase the photo.

I used the My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found Market Street collection as a starting point for the layout. I first mounted my base page on a piece of cardstock for stability. I then inked the edges with SU Regal Rose and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo. I really liked the birdcage so I fussy cut it from a piece of the collection and then attached it using dimensional elements.

I used two other papers from the collection distressing the edges of the one and using a scallop border punch on the other. This was the backdrop for my photo. I tucked the one edge under the bird. I added some Prima gems to the photo corner.

On the top left, I used a Tim Holtz vintage frame with some glossy accents and attached it to the corner. I added various Prima and wedding flowers to the corner.

On the opposite side, I used a cameo from Bo Bunny and framed it with various flowers from Prima and a Swirlydoos kit.

Finally in the lower right hand, I used a Prima flourish to adorn the photo and various flowers from Prima and Swirlydoos.

In person, the layout is very beautiful and expresses the memories I have when I look at this picture.

Altered Box–My Minds Eye

Hello Everyone

Today, I wanted to show you an altered box I created. I happen to be at the scrapbooking store where the paper was 50% off. I ran across My Minds Eye Lost and Found paper series and decided it would be perfect to use to alter a wooden box.

I painted the box a bamboo color, then I covered the box with the scribe paper from the Lost and Found collection. I fussy cut some of the elements from the collection and added them to the box. I inked all the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink.

On the top of the box, I added Prima flowers and an embellishment from the Tim Holtz collection and used Glossy Accents in the center to give the embellishment a gem like quality. I added a cameo to the flower cluster.

On the sides I added various embellishments and papers from the Lost and Found. I added a grey lace and a black lace ribbon around the edge of the top of the box.

Time–June Swirlydoos Kit

Hello Everyone,

Its been a while since I have posted anything. I have been traveling and hadn’t had a change to sit down and create anything new. I finally got to use the June kit from Swirlydoos to show case an old faded photo I found in a glove box of an old truck. One of the women in the photo has since passed away and I wanted to create a page to honor her memory. The papers in the June kit are beautiful and I love the way the layout came out.

I used quite a few different papers, embellishments and paints in this layout. I first started out by using a piece of black cardstock as my base and took the vintage butterfly paper from Glitz girls and placed it in the upper left corner. I stamped a flourish from CTMH in SU black ink and punched out a butterfly with a Martha Stewart punch and added some mocha pearls from CTMH on the body. I used a Tim Holtz time piece and an antique brad from SU to hold the corner back to showcase the hidden paper and butterfly. I inked the paper with black ink from SU.

I used two pieces of designer paper and a die cut from the kit. I inked the edges of the blue paper with SU black ink and the die cut with Vintage Photo distressed ink. In the upper right corner, I clustered some Prima flowers and a die cut key. I painted the key using Pearl Ex Smoke Blue spray and added some blue pearls from CTMH on the key. I distressed the edges of the key with SU black classic ink. I used Crystal Effects and some paper to attach to a gem from 7 Gypsies and attached that to the key. I used 3D foam squares to prop up the gem. For the photo, I used antique photo corners from CTMH and Vintage Photo distress ink around the edges.

I used some chipboard from the Glitz Girls to create my title. I inked the letters with SU Not Quite Navy ink and distressed the edges with SU black ink. I sprayed the pieces with Pearl Ex smoke blue. For the vintage watch, I used Vintage Photo distress ink to color the chipboard and then used Pearl Ex Copper spray to add some glimmer to the piece. I place the letter M inside the watch for added interest. I added a SU vintage flower to the watch.

Finally, I added a cluster of flowers that came in the kit. I used some Prima flowers and Prima leaves to showcase the photo.

I really feel in love with this layout. I feel like its one of the best I have ever created. I gave the layout to one of the daughters of the woman in the photo as a gift.

Altered Box with Swirlydoos May Kit

Hi Everyone,

Today I wanted to show you my first attempt at altering a box using the May Swirlydoo kit. I was inspired by Arlene from Butterfly Kisses and Jade from Jade Studios to give it a try. I will be giving it as a gift to my Great Aunt that I haven’t seen in years.

I used some acrylic paint for the based of the box and the insides. I then added some of the pattern paper to the top of the box. I used a Dusty Attic chipboard birdcage and spritz it with Pearl Ex Copper spray. I attached a little key to the top. I added lots of flowers to the top cover.

I trimmed the edge of the box with lace. On the inside I lined the inside with felt and attached some butterflies to the lid. I plan on adding picture of the family for my Aunt to see.

The Button Farm May Kit

Sorry for not posting in a while but I have been super busy with work. I wanted to show you what I have been working on. I received the May kit from the Button Farm and what a kit! It contained so much stuff from companies like 7 Gypsies, Glitz Girls, ribbon, rubbon ons! Awesome!

Mini Envelope Album

Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by Dawn’s envelope album tutorial an decided to create one of my own. You can get all the measurements and see the video here. Here is what mine looks like:

I went through my stash to find a scrapbooking kit that contained die cuts and found one by Close To My Heart. It contained pattern paper, cardstock and die cuts which was perfect for me.

I used the kit, cocoa ink to distress the edges of my paper, some envelopes, scrap ribbon, and adhesive. Here are some photos of the inside of the album:
