As I promised last weekend, here's what I created to put in my office for Valentine's Day. The little display above sits on a round work table in the middle of the office.

This is the whiteboard that is behind my desk.

Here's a close up view of the banner. It spells out Employee Relations.

I think it turned out cute considering it was my first attempt at a banner. I wonder what I can do for Easter...hmmm??

My goodness! What were you expecting?
I ran some errands today making my way through Michaels Crafts and a quick trip to Wal-mart. I know...I hate going in there (Wal-mart) but I needed some Valentine's Day candy for the office. I found these delicous little candies while there. They're over in the Valentine's candy display. These little "fruit chews" (think Jelly Bellys) are "made with real cherry juice" and are "high in antioxidant vitamin C" which I'm sure makes them "healthy". Right? There are nine flavors in the 10 oz. bag including Cherry Vanilla, Kiwi Cherry, Cherry Daiquiri, Cherry Cheesecake, Cherry Cola, and Chocolate Cherry. Also, they're Made in USA with an affordable $2.25 price for the bag.

Michaels had 40% some of their Valentine's Day decorations plus there's a 25% everything coupon for Sunday. I picked up a few things to decorate the office with. I'm enjoying having an office to decorate for the seasons. I decided a week ago to create my first bunting/banner/garland or whatever they call them. I covered some cardboard hearts with scrapbook paper and my plan was to spell out "Employee Relations" but then I realized I didn't have any letters to spell it out.

I did some research and found a Cricut machine for $149 that I thought was reasonable. It's a cool little machine and it was pretty easy to figure out. Now I have my letters and more! I know it's kind of a tease since I'll wait until I get it hung up in the office this week and take a photograph of it. I think it turned out cute.

Here's a wreath I bought at Michaels that I'm going to embellish. This is my "before" shot with the "after" to follow later. Have a fabulous week!

You know it's time for a blog update when a friend sends you an email asking if I you're going to replace the Merry Christmas greeting...lol!

Pretzel & Candy Kiss Morsels from Heaven...

I know...it's a bold title for this post. But honestly, have you seen all the wonderful pictures of food posted on Pinterest? Never have I been inspired to try so many new recipes before. Most of them have been wonderful with only a few that I won't be repeating. I did the little treats above at Halloween with Pumpkin Spice kisses. They were a hit at the office. This time around I used peppermint chocolate kisses...another big success!

Candy Cane Kisses Brownie Bites...

I tried these last week. If I did them again I would use a regular size cupcake pan. I used mini muffin size pans and it was just too hard to get them out of the pan. I had a little extra batter left over and I put two in a regular size silicon pan. It was much easier to get them out in one piece plus more batter around the candy kisses made them softer when you bite into the brownie. Minty! :-)

Pumpkin Pie Snickerdoodle Bars...

I made these during Thanksgiving week. Big Hit! Two guys at the office even asked for the recipe. They turned out perfectly and the cinnamon in the frosting was just wonderful.

Mini Pumpkin Praline Trifle...

These little beauties were a lot of work. I found some tall shot glasses at Wal-mart to use but I think I needed larger ones. I wasn't able to get as many layers in. Still they received "ohh's and ahh's" at the Thanksgiving dinner I took them to. I think I should have let the pudding thicken a little more so that it wasn't so runny when I tried to pipe it into the glasses. I used toffee chips and pecans instead of the granola in the recipe. I had leftover ingredients that I put into a crystal goblet. It was delicious. I would make this recipe again for sure.

Easy Chicken Marsala...

Just so you don't think every recipe that I've tried has sugar in it...here's a delicous chicken entree. This is awesome. I've actually made it twice now.

Crockpot Beef Stroganoff...

I've made this three times. It's so easy to throw everything in the crockpot in the morning before I leave the house. I add fresh mushrooms, too. When I get home all I have to do is drop in the cream cheese and let it melt. I've been serving it over white rice. It's really hearty and great when it's been chilly outside.

Well, I think that's enough food for now. Next time I'll share some of the decor/crafty things that I've been inspired by Pinterest to put together. Let me know if you try any of the recipes and what you think about them.

Christmas 2011~ Birth of a New Tradition

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse ......that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is!
It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?
Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber?
Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.
Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates. Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plonking down the Benjamines on a Chinese made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.
There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.
How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?
Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.
My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.
OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.
Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theater.
Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.
You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine. THIS is the new American Christmas. Spread the Christmas cheer!

I happened to be on my Facebook page Sunday and saw that Mary Engelbreit had posted something about her old magazine 'Home Companion'. I hopped over to her blog to see what was up.
Well......it's hard to believe that it's been 3 years since she stopped the publication! It looks like she's thinking about "giving it another shot". "So to convince a publisher and advertisers that this would indeed be a worthy endeavor, we need you to write in and tell us why you’d like to subscribe to the magazine again."

So far there are 373 responses left on her blog. If you want to see the magazine back on the shelves you might want to pop over to her blog and show your support by leaving a comment.
She has a new Facebook feed on her blog page, too. It's funny to see familiar faces there. I saw Jeanne, Christy, Dawn, and Terry that I recognize.
Much success to you Mary with the come back of your publication!

Cherry Cheesecake Cookie Cup

I saw the picture for these little darling on Pinterest and fell in LuRvE! A quick Google search and I found the recipe out there on the wonderful world wide web.
I made them this past Thursday night and took them in to work on Friday. Of course, they were a big hit. I'll be nice and share the recipe. ;-) They're not too sweet...just perfect!

Ingredients

1 pkg. (16.5 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar Dough
2 pkgs. (8 oz. each) cream cheese, room temperature
1 can (14 oz.) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 325° F. Paper-line 24 muffin cups. Place one piece of cookie dough in each muffin cup.
BAKE for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookie has spread to edge of cup.
BEAT cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, eggs and vanilla extract in medium bowl until smooth. Pour about 3 tablespoons cream cheese mixture over each cookie in cup.
BAKE for additional 15 to 18 minutes or until set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Top each with level tablespoon of pie filling. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Twenty four cupcakes is alot so share them with friends. Who needs all those calories?!!

I share with you today an excellent tutorial on what "Pinterest" is all about. I came across this informative blog this morning titled "The Blog Stylist". Bree pretty much explains in easy terms what the Pinterest site is about. A few friends have asked me to explain it. From now on I will direct them to this post.

I learned something new today from having read the post. If you want to find out if any of your blog or website images have been pinned on Pinterest all you need to do is use this URL, replacing the cherrychickjewely.bloglist.com with your own domain name...

You'll then be able to see where your images have been pinned to. Kinda cool...right?

I had a relaxing weekend. How about you? One of my favorite tea places closed their door this Saturday and I am so sad to see them go. I did my part and joined in on Saturday afternoon for their 50 to 80 percent off sale. I have a cute "little something" that I will wait to share on Rednesday this Wednesday.

Do Oreos go with White Zinfandel??

Yesterday was a particularily long day at the office. I came home hungry so I popped a Lean Cuisine in the microwave, with a little extra fresh broccoli added, soon after I arrived home. I poured myself a glass of Beringer White Zinfandel, my favorite, to go along with dinner. Now mind you I'm not much of a wine drinker so one glass goes along way with me.

Well then I ran out of food but I still had wine leftover. Personally I like a little something "sweet" to end my meal with. I remembered that I had some Oreo cookies so I grabbed a few. I looked at my wine and thought I can't throw the rest out. But then I thought "Is it okay to have white zinfandel with Oreos????"

The light went on and I thought I would ask my fellow bloggers if you've every had such a weird combination. I still prefer milk but I was too frugal to just dump the wine. Any thoughts on what you would have done?? ;-)

It's hard to believe and it snuck up on me but this is my 300th blog post. I feel like I should have planned for a better celebration. I'll save that for #325 I think. Who'd have "thunk" that I've had that much to share. I remember how hard it was originally to come up with an idea for a post. Some of my first post were pretty lame as I now look back at them. Here's one of my first ones....not a real page turner..LOL.

Once again I'm joining up with my fellow bloggers over at Little Red House to share a mosaic of photographs for Mosaic Monday.
In case you don't know these are Fuchsia flowers. I just love the plants but I've not been successful with keeping them alive here in Florida. Do you ever look at things, smell things, or hear things that remind you of your past? I find this happens to me often.
Whenever I see fuchsia plants, and there are many different varieties, I think of my friend Steve who once lived in San Francisco. The plants seemed to be very abundant in California. I have many wonderful memories of trips to SF to visit my friend Steve all the way back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. This is my post to those wonderful times. We are still friends to this day and I had the chance to see him, again, when he came to Florida in June. There's nothing like old friends who you share great memories with.

Beautiful Hydrangeas to share...

I was able to find some charming pink hydrangeas this past Sunday at Publix so I brought them to work. I had a lovely little bouquet on my desk at the office that received several compliments.
I found this delightful mosaic of the flowers while poking around Pinterest (how to spend an afternoon) that I thought I would share this week. Just Beautiful!!

It's a Saturday night and I'm posting pictures of my cat who is joining a "Kitty Cat Kitty Party"?? Seriously....I need to join a dating website!
My friend Sarah over at "Hyacinths for the Soul" had me laughing so hard with her post about "Baby Kitties" big day. Then I went over to see what the party was about and laughed some more. There are some very creative bloggers out here.
Debbie over at "Confessions of a Plate Addict" is having a party for her cat "Baby Kitty" and it's a hoot. If you're a cat lover you will appreciate it. If not....I feel sorry for you.
My cat, Missy, has decided to join but she is late. Some dog must have eaten her invite. At least that's what she always tells me about her homework. I hope Baby Kitty likes roses and jewelry.....Enjoy!

I know I'm a little late to the "party" but it's still Saturday, right?? I found this wonderfully, fabulous Summer setting while crusing around Pinterest. I would sooooooo enjoy an eating room just like this with all the lovely light from the windows. I love all of the greenery in the room, too. Just yummy looking and so many wonderful shades of PINK.
