NOTD: Birthday manicure

Hi!

Since yesterday, when I saw a teddy manicure on a blog (I forgot which one, eh!), I decided that my birthday manicure will be the one with a teddy bear.

I mean, of course I am getting older, but what is cuter than a teddy bear? :P

So I drew two cuties on my nails, one on each ring finger. The drawing on my left hand was supposed to look weird, since I'm left handed, but it somehow almost looks better than the right one. Oh well, practice, practice and practice is all I have to say.

From far away the bear looks fine (this is my left hand).

The closer you get, more mistakes you can see (and realize that I don't have a steady hand).

And my currently favorite ring - it's an old one but has a very special stone for me. Aquamarine.

Review: Beauty Angel Turn-Up Long Mascara

I got this mascara months ago. At first I wanted to test it for good, but then it was just so good that I couldn't write a review for it. I kept delaying it.

But now, that the mascara is long gone (all used up!) and I have tested it for good, it's time for a proper review.

First of all, I got it from KKCenterKH for review purposes. My opinion is always honest.

The wand itself it's nothing special. A regular mascara wand. But it's the mascara formula that does the trick!

My bare lashes:

They are really light and the ends look nonexistent.

And now two coats of mascara - it's incredible.

This mascara was my favorite of them all.

Why?

Because I could cry with it, rub my eyes and nothing. It wouldn't budge.

The only way to take it off was with make up remover and even then there were little pieces of mascara (you remember the tubes mascara?) coming off my lashes. It didn't hurt, it didn't burn... it just looked funny.

Those weren't fibres, but mascara. I loved it!

Pros:

+ waterproof

+ lasts all day long

+ gives volume AND length

+ it's cheap (compared to most mascaras)

+ easy to apply

+ easy to remove

+ the mascara packaging comes in three colors (pink, blue and green)

Cons:

- honestly I can't think of any, except that I run out of it :P

Price: ♥♥♥♥♥ ($13.00)

Overall:

Yes, I loved it! I can't wait to get another one, because so far I didn't find anything like this!

I love that it's long lasting, waterproof and even rub proof (tho you have to be gentle! since the pieces of mascara can easily come off this way) and that it comes in a nice packaging. Oh and the best part? It didn't irritate my eyes, which is a problem I have quite sometimes.

I would recommend it!

Pregnancy from week 1 to 16

I know, I promised to post a weekly update of my pregnancy, which well.. didn't happen.

Why? Well I'll break it up for you week by week.

Week 1 - Week 4:

Hmm.. I had no idea I was pregnant. Well yes, my breasts were tender but that was it. And my mood went off here and there. But this was it. The forth week I did the pregnancy test. And yes, it was positive. So I did three more. All positive. At that point I called my Gynecologist to get an appointment to confirm it. I switched doctors, because I moved to our capital city two months before.

Week 6:

At this point I was still feeling pretty fine. I learned I put on weight (like 5kg!!) and the pregnancy was confirmed by my new doctor. She's super nice. I got another appointment in 6 weeks. Of course my breasts got bigger and were still damn tender. Otherwise it was pretty much normal.

I got my first ultrasound baby picture! I also saw him on the monitor. It was 65 mm big. Tiny little thing. He looked like a circle.. :P At this point I wasn't feeling anything for him/her. Well a tiny bit of love, but I still didn't realize what it meant!

Week 7 - Week 12:

Holy Molly! I didn't know that the 'morning sickness' will go on day after day and the whole damn day!! This was the worst period of them all. At this point nothing helped. I learned one trick tho. Eat all the time. ALL the time! Before you wake up, when you're awake and before you go to bed. All the damn time. Small portions, light food. I fought with the urge to eat everything I saw and the nausea at the same time. I WAS hungry, but also sick. Terrible combination. The worst thing that could happen was me overeating or being hungry. At those times the nausea kicked in harder than before. So I munched on stuff all the damn time.

In week 12, I got my ehr... Mother booklet? Hell, I have no idea how it's called. It's a little book where all the doctors write stuff about your pregnancy. It's a confirmation that you're officially pregnant. You take it with you to all the doctor appointments and tests.

Anyway I also got another picture from the ultrasound. At week 12, the baby is pretty much bigger and it actually looks like a baby. This is when the mother instinct kicked in. I could finally see him (why him? I have a strong feeling that it's a boy from the whole beginning). The head, his tiny little fingers and his tiny body. So cute! But when it was picture time he moved, so it's not a great picture.

Week 13:

I was kind of late to get my appointment for my nuchal translucency. But I managed to get it anyway on December 30th. Yes I had to google that. I had no idea how it's called in English and honestly, Google translate sucks. That's quite an unusual date, since no doctors will work the day before New Year. But I was lucky!

I went there with my partner and we saw our baby together for the first time! <3

Before the procedure we went to eat (yes, hungry mom and all that stuff), so when we got the ultrasound the baby was moving for 30 seconds and then fell asleep. Of course showing us his back.

I had to move around a bit, jump, well exercise so he may wake up. And did he? NO. He slept like it was the best sleep of his whole life.

Anyway because of this we moved to the vaginal ultrasound which woke him up instantly. He then moved a bit, and put his hand right on his neck. LOL. Anyway it was so funny I had to try really hard not to laugh :D.

So we have one special and healthy baby ;).

Plus the nausea kept going on, and I was also tired all the time (from week 6 on).

We saw him in 3D and it was awesome!

Of course some pictures are just like 'wft is that?'. But still.. :D

Week 14 - 16:

The tiredness is still going on, but the nausea is quietly disappearing. One day I really wanted to eat Mexican food, so my dear took me to such a restaurant close to my home town. I ordered garlic soup and a salad. The soup was quite good (I am used to better ones). But the unlucky part is that I started vomiting violently like the moment I got out of the restaurant. It was terrible. I felt so sick, that even a short walk couldn't help me. I vomited three times and I thought I'd die. The worst part is that there were garlic pieces in the soup and they got out... from my nose D:!

Anyway it was disgusting. No Mexican food for me for a while.. I also felt very nauseated when I ate my favorite salad (that has LOTS of garlic in it). Which means.. no more garlic. :< I love garlic so it breaks my heart. In week 15 the nausea stopped! But I am still very very tired. After 3 hours of being awake, I feel so tired that I'd want to go to sleep for one whole hour...

Tomorrow I have another appointment with my doctor, she will tell me my blood group and if I am Rh + or - and some other stuff. :)

NOTD: Dots, dots, dots

Hi!

It's been a while since I did any nail art, so I decided to go easy and do just a dotted nail of the day.

I used two pastel greens/turquoise.

The main one is Kiko 345 (2 coats) and the one of only 1 finger is Wet'n Wild Garden House (3 coats).

The Kiko nail polish had a much better formula than the WnW one.

The dots are made with white acrylic paint.

And yes, my cuticles are in bad shape ;_;. I need to take care of them properly.. I know.

Review: Essence Volumizing Lash Powder

Hi!

I remember that when I saw this product on the preview post, I thought "oh I'd love to see what that powder does!". And after a couple of months when I spotted it in the stores (the first time I didn't want to buy it), I decided to give it a go. But only after I read two reviews (I couldn't find more).

I bought it because I saw that it contains micro fibres and I remember that I loved the mascara that my sister had with such fibres.

This one is from the Vampire's Love TE, but in the Spring there will be more of these babies coming to the regular Essence line!

It comes with a small wand, for easier application.

As you can see, there are tiny white fibres in the jar.

When you dip the wand in the jar, you get the fibres on the mascara wand!

The application is quite simple. At first I was scared that it would take me so much more time just because of the possibly not so easy application.

But actually it's really easy! You apply one coat of mascara.

Then you quickly apply the fibres on the mascara. And apply another coat of mascara. You get the best result if you don't breath while you transfer the fibres to your lashes (because they get off really easily before being sealed with mascara).

Mascara on both lashes:

The difference is quite visible, especially if you prefer thicker lashes. I do! And I always had the problem of finding the perfect mascara that would do both - give me volume and length!

But with this powder I don't have to worry about volume anymore!

The best part? The application takes me maybe 30 seconds more than usual!

Pros:

+ Cheap

+ There's a lot of product in the packaging

+ Does what it says (gives volume)

+ Lasts all day!

Cons:

- You have to master the technique before it gets super easy to apply

- There may be some fallout before you seal it with mascara

- The packaging isn't travel friendly

Price: ♥♥♥♥♥ 5/5 (2,5€)

Overall:

I must say that I really like this product! I only have it one heart less, because I'd prefer if the fibres were black and in a mascara like packaging - like similar products. It would be easier to apply. Otherwise I love the effect it has on my lashes and I have nothing to say against it!

Little Christmas Walk

So for Christmas I went home. My two dears went with me (;D), of course. That's why before the family gathering (lunch) we decided to go for a walk. And what better place is to go for a walk, than right next to the sea?

The weather was fantastic - there were full 9 degrees Celsius!

Sea ghouls found their favorite spot!

My dog paying attention to.. hmm I am not sure what. Lets pretend he's paying attention to me, just because he likes me ;D.

And now some food that was available for lunch. Most of the dishes were delish but sadly they aren't photogenic. Especially my favorite salad.

New DOG!

You all know that - I love dogs. They are like children 'trapped' in a cute body. I have one lovely fellow with the biggest smile on planet Earth (Pablo, yes!) but since he ate my last dog - a plush - I got a new one.

Well it was a gift from my dear, because I couldn't sleep without hugging anything. And when my lovely dog wasn't around I was hugging what? The pillow, and it surely wasn't a comfortable sleep position.

Many peluches were destroyed by Pablo. He went for the hardest parts - the eyes and then made a huge hole in them (I had two The Dog's).

This time we went for something larger. In fact this toy is almost as big as my real dog! So yes, I am talking about a new toy :D!

It's a bull terrier plush, and it still needs a name. Any suggestions?

Yes, I love naming my furry fellows (toys or not!).

Hi!

That's exactly what I had in mind when I was swatching my two top choices for X-Mas make up.

I thought of using just the mascara topper or combine it with the golden Essence eyeliner.

I am not really sure why it is called glitter eyeliner, since it works as a regular cream (and very opaque) eyeliner.

But then when the D-day came, I went for the mascara topper only. I forgot to bring my eye shadows with me, so blush had to work as it.

I loved the simplicity of the make up, but next time I am going for something bolder!

My staple nail polish removers

The favorites series continues! ^^

I am a big fan of nail polish, but the removing process isn't always the most pleasant thing. That's why I need my regular nail polish removers to do the job for me. And luckily I do not feel nauseated by the scent of these two.

I usually use a nail polish remover from Essence and then I also have another one, this time it's Sante's which I love! I love the way the bottle is made (you just press on the pump underneath it and there it is - polish remover comes out!).

The extra bonus the Essence remover has - it leaves your nails pleasantly smelling after the removing process.

I know it may disturb some people, but this scent is very summery like and for me it works.

Of course I am not a big fan of the dyes in the remover (it's pink!), but alright. My nails can survive that.

What are your staple nail polish removers?

NOTD: Glitter for the lazy ones

HI!

Whenever I think of nail polish - I feel nauseated. Don't get me wrong, I love a good manicure. But at the thought of the fumes of nail polish - well it makes me feel sick to my stomach.

That's why I haven't been wearing nail polish for a while. Well more than a week, which is A LOT for a nail polish freak like me.

I wanted a quick manicure, that would still look good. That's why I decided to go with Jessica - Funky Town (Paint the Town LE).

Sadly the formula went thicker over time (I have it for more than two years). And since I don't have any nail polish thinner at hand, I had to go with what I had.

It took me 3 coats to get an even (or almost) application.

And since it's only glitter - it should last a while, yay!!

Weeks in and outs

It's that time again, blogging time! :D

I wanted to cam whore a bit, but.. this brings us to a huge - from this week (and a couple of weeks more).

Ins:

+ I'm at week 11 with my pregnancy, which means I'm out of the 'risky' period. Or at least the one everyone keeps scaring us about.

+ Less work hours (which is also a -) = more free time! Time to live! :D

+ A day spent at my home place, meeting with the girls. It was fantastic!

There was a kids show going on and people were afraid to enjoy it fully (like laugh, applause, and so on).. (which is quite typical in my home town).

Outs:

- Camera lenses aren't working anymore. And sister won't admit she broke them (since she was the one who used them week after week after week). Bleh! And surely it is very expensive to fix them *pissed*.

- Less working hours = less money. I mean I am happy that I work less, but I am extremely disappointed that it happened the way it did (unexpected and unannounced). I am still looking for a new job.

- The tiredness that is keeping me company for the last week. :( I am extremely tired most of the time. But at least the nausea is gone most of the time!

That's it. I feel much better after some rambling :D

Hi!

I got the nail polish combo from Essence's Circus Circus TE. I am not a big fan of circus themes (because of the poor animals!), but otherwise this collection is well done.

I applied two coats of Deborah mini Burlesque Red (#37) and two coats of the glitter part of the Essence Applause, Applause top coat.

I actually really like the result, and you?

The application was flawless, and the brush is something quite different than the regular Essence brushes. I approve!

Review: ES A829 (Mini Black Lashes)

Hi!

I got another pair of faux lashes from KKCenterHK. They asked me which lashes I'd like to review and I picked these ones. They looked interesting and smaller than the other ones.

See? They do look quite small.

And the fact is - they are very tiny. I didn't need to cut them so they would fit. In fact because of their size

I had quite a problem with the application.

But I managed to apply them nonetheless!

Even if they are short, they give those HUGE eyes look. The lashes are a bit too long for my liking. I mean I do like fake lashes, but not when I cannot look normally, because they are poking on my eyebrow.

Huge much?

I had a bit of a problem with them bending to my lash line. Even if they are super soft it was quite a hassle!

Plus my camera died on me, so no real cam whoring pictures :(.

Pros:

+ They are handmade

+ Plus they are super soft! One of the comfiest lashes I got from KKCenterHK

+ They don't need to be shortened (because they are tiny)

+ They make your eyes huge looking!

+ They cost about $1.4 per pair

+ They can be re-used

Cons:

- I had a bit of a problem with the application (because they are short)

- The lashes are too long to be natural looking

- The glue isn't included

- Can get similar lashes for cheaper price on Ebay

Overall:

I was expecting quite a lot from these lashes when I first got them. I mean they are super soft, really comfortable but waaay too big for me. As in huge and dramatic. But the length is short, which means you have to properly place them. Plus the glue isn't included, which can suck when you run out of your lashes glue. They are actually pretty good, but I'm sure you can find cheaper ones elsewhere (or even on the same site!).

Top 7 Favorite Eye Shadows

A while ago I got asked to do a post about my top 5 eye shadows. And well, I couldn't pick just 5 of them, so I picked 7 instead. Which is still quite good, no? ;D

Anyway it was a really hard job, because I have many eye shadows that I love. But this time I went from the ones I used the most (or have used) to the more extraordinary ones.

So first we have my very-used UD Naked palette... :) Of course one of the favorites eye shadows had to be from it! Even tho, at first I wasn't really interested in nudes, lol.

The pigments/minerals (without the Mac sample one just because it looks ugly).

This has to be my most used eyeshadow ever! I used it like almost every single day. I know, my looks got quite boring because of the Naked palette, but still. It is also very usable as a highlighter <3! Now I am looking for a dupe in case I run out (and I don't want to spent $50 for a new palette just for this one shade - Help?)

I got this sample from a forum friend, quite a while ago. It's the gorgeous Pink Bronze pigment from MAC and I'd love to get a full size of this thing.

I used this eyeshadow A LOT before I got my naked palette. It's perfect to use in the crease or for drawing eyebrows (when I had dark red hair). Now it's mostly untouched. :( But it will get some love quite soon!

I wanted this eyeshadow for a very long time. But each time I was ordering from Fyrinnae I thought 'bleh!'. And then for some reason I went to check the swatches - and wow!! Gorgeous <3.

The only orange shade I like on myself. And the bonus - it's from Fyrinnae. By now you could guess I love Fyrinnae's eye shadows.

This is quite an interesting shade. Between blue and green. And in some light it's quite pale looking. It is still very wearable or if you'd like to add some wow factor - well just combine it with black. ^^

This shadow is pretty much complexer than it looks in the pictures. It goes from purple to blue. I once wrote a review about it (and some other shadows) - here.

And the most important part - The swatches! They were done on dry skin without any primer. Cool, right?

I wanted to take my own photo, but at the moment I was quite shocked (and yes the other two tests - I was still in shock).

That means... that in a couple of months (7 :P), we'll have a baby.

Oh this will be an interesting journey, for sure..

Hopefully in a couple of days I will be back to blogging (I have some plans for my blog) and the nausea will go away .. like finally? Tho it's still one good month for it to be gone. :)

Now whenever I smell something chemical I feel sick. Or if I think or something similar.. ew. Tho for some reason nail polish doesn't cause me any problems! ^^

Bar stools of my dreams!

I know it's not normal to dream about bar stools, but we all have our quirks. The sad fact is that there's something about a nice bar stool that sets my mind racing and my heart pumping. It's not about the beverages one might consume on a bar stool, at least not mostly. In a funny way, though, a bar stool is like really good make-up or accessories in that sitting on a nice one really does make you look prettier. Anyhow, here's one of my favorites:

I just love the contrast between the black cushion and the reddish-stained wooden base and legs. Very classical, chic, and a bit sexy. And now here's an awesome variation on this theme.

These two sweet babies have the same color scheme as above but, where the prior model was all squarish, these two are all circular. I also love the differing heights, which is great for a lot of couples where one is a bit taller than the other. And now, how about something with a positively antique look to it?

I suppose this one might be a bit masculine for some tastes, but I actually dig the manly look when it comes to bar stools.

Moving right along, now here's something that's a lot more, well, if not feminine then at least metrosexual, if a chair can be any kind of "sexual."

Really, this one is very elegant and more comfortable for having a back to it. Really nice. But, wait, we haven't yet explored the exotic world of rattan!

I admit, some people, especially guys are going to hate that one above, but I think it's beautiful and really eye catching. How about a nice pub set to give your house that classy restaurant feeling?

Top 4 Eyeliners!

Hi!

It's again time to share my favorite products with you all! ^^

This time it's - yup you guessed it correctly - eyeliners! They are pretty essential when it comes to make up for me. They can instantly turn a 'bleh' make up into a 'wow' one. Why? Because a precise line is just gorgeous. No matter what color it is!

So which are my top four?

1. Essence I love style liquid liner (black)

2. Essence Sun Club TE - BBC all night brown

3. Essence Mother Earth is Watching you (Natventurista) - champagne

4. Unknown brand (black)

As you can see most of them are gel liners. And from Essence too! Why? Especially since I hated the formula at first? Well, I realized they are pretty easy to apply and are very long lasting plus I can use them as an eyeshadow base. That's right! As an eyeshadow base and it won't bother me, actually I can't feel it at all on my eyelids!

The last one is just my only black gel liner and I've had it for quite a while (nope, not two years yet). It's dense, deep black and you have to be very careful on the amount you use. Or it leaves those nasty stains under your brows. Not pretty! But when you manage to apply just the right amount, it can survive pretty much anything!

Keeping my skin matte - top 3 items!

Hi!

I wanted to share my little secret with you all.. For me keeping my skin matte is very important, I can't stand the extra shine on my forehead, nose and chin. That's why I try to use the products who will keep me worry-free for at least most hours of the day.

I was searching and searching for cheap products that could do exactly that - and I can finally say I found them!

Let me present you... The essentials.

First my beloved Miss Sporty - So Clear pressing powder.

Sadly it seems they have changed the formula so it doesn't help me stay oil-free for the whole day (and it's getting colder outside!). That's why I only use it seldom and on the go.

Next there's my newest purchase - Essence Fix&Matte translucent loose powder. It reminds me of LimeCrime's Fairy Dust (or whatever it was called). It leaves my skin smooth and matte, which is lovely! Also it helps me stay oil-free for more than 6 hours. And yes, my skin has gone crazy, it gets oily quite quickly and I have combination skin, eh!

I just checked the ingredients - bleh too many parabens :(.

Then there is the Essence Oil Control paper. It's not as great as I remember those Korean ones to be (I don't remember the brand, but they were blue), but they do their job just fine. I'm happy Essence came up with something as useful for oily skin as this is.

The paper is brown-ish. Which makes it harder to see if it does 'suck out' any oil. On the picture below there's an oily stain. So it does work.

This is pretty much it for now, when I find something budget friendly and that does also work for me - I'll let you know!

My top 5 favorite nail polishes

Hi!

I always loved to read about favorite items of my lovely co-bloggers, so I decided to do something similar. I have many nail polishes, but most of them are at home. Here where I am currently living I only have about 50 nail polishes, so it was quite an easy task to pick the top 5 of them! =)

I picked the polishes I use the most, or the ones I use when I absolutely have no idea what to put on. Plus the polishes had to last more than 1 day on my nails to be able to get in the top 5!

Soooo.... are you curious yet?

Essence cool and the Gang.

A lovely electric blue, with a terrible brush. I use it when I don't feel like wearing reds/pinks. I have the least of blue toned polishes.

Bourjois No chip #11

Lovely red that it actually one of my favorite red polishes of all time! The application is perfect, the brush is OK and it's long lasting on my nails.

A lovely summer color. Fresh and gentle. This is also one polish that lasts for more than 3 days on my nails!

A lovely sassy color. Complex yet simple. Gorgeous! One of those quick and good looking manicures!

Dries quickly.

I don't have a swatch of the last nail polish because it's after all just a clear top coat with lots of golden glitter from the tiniest to the bigger ones. I'll add a photo when I will post about it ^^.
