The last two items I got were the Essence Got A Crush On Apricots Lip Oil and Essence Essence Got A Crush On Apricots Blush. The blush smells divine, but it's not very pigmented. I may need to use up a thin layer for it to show more pigmented.

I also bought some new curly-approved shampoo and hair balm. The shampoo is called HairTry Date With Exfoliate also is an acid scalp shampoo (needs to stay on for several minutes) and I absolutely love it! I am a fan that it comes in such a nice size. Too bad for the hair balm that it's only available in small sizes. The balm is meant for non-porous hair and it's called HairTry Shine Flow.

With my order, I got two mini sizes for some nice products. I will take them with me on my vacation!

In May, well actually at the end of April, I went to our main town - Ljubljana where I stopped in Lush. It's been so long since I went into a Lush store that it was pretty overwhelming. I needed to grab the always-amazing Lemony Flutter. I then remembered that I needed a hair balm because I loved their curly one. But I think that one was the American Dream? Not sure. I didn't get that one, but instead, I got Candy Rain.

Also, some refreshing blue shower gel that smells like cucumbers and a fresh drink - Fresh AS.

The mini perfumes are for my sister, I decided to get a regular one because I couldn't smell a damn in-store (talk about overwhelmed).

Ohhh, in May I discovered my newest obsession - lip oils. But with a very special texture that is between a lip gloss and lip oil. I Loooove these ones from Catrice!

I went back to my old roots and picked up an Artdeco case with two eyeshadows. A nude matte, a shimmery purple taupe. And a Hi-Sense gel for my pedicures. My Indigo Nail gels don't work for me anymore (except their colored ones, their bases peel off in 2 weeks).

We finally got a Decathlon store in my town. That's a sport store that is pretty affordable and I can always find something for myself. I get my microfiber hair towels from there, too!

And of course two extra lip oils, one from Essence and another from Catrice. Plus a mattifying face powder that was on sale by BellHypoallergenic brand.

I couldn't pass the opportunity to grab 2 more Artdeco eyeshadows (shimmery white and shimmery black), their eyeshadow primer, and their black kajal. The waterproof version really doesn't budge!

And of course when. I said that I bought a lot, I meant it! I bought A LOT.

I needed a new mascara so when I saw that there was a new Catrice mascara, I had to get it. It's the one I wrote a review of - Catrice Fake It Mascara.

I got a black eye pencil because I bought the Artdeco a day or so later. Honestly, I don't know what to do with it. :P

Another Catrice Lip Oil was a must (okay, okay, I know ...) too! For good measure, I also got an Essence Lip Oil so I could compare them.

I grabbed a new corrector by Maybelline because my last one needed to be tossed. And I paired it with an Essence Baby Got Blush blush that comes with a sponge applicator tip.

Of course, this isn't the end - I got some more items online.

A favorite of mine is the Uniball One P pen which I absolutely adore. The black ink is the blackest you can get (there were some studies), I love how chubby it is, and you can fit it with their regular refills. I love it!!

I also got some keyboard switch grabbers because I managed to break 2 that I got with my keyboard.

But the main thing was the Intimina Ziggy 2 Cup as I really want to go back to using a menstrual disc. I should rather say, that I really want to learn how to use it. As I never mastered it.

the same day I got an intimate cream by Intimina which is lovely, especially after shaving.

The next part is mostly skincare. I got targeted by an AD and couldn't resist. So I bought some items for our vacation - like the oil cleanser that I thought would be small and chubby, but it is not.

Of course, I had to get another Lip Oil, this time by NYX. I do enjoy it very much! I love all my lip oils. :D

Some items are doubles because there was a 1+1 sale on them. Like I got two packs of blotting papers instead of one, two eyeshadows (the same ones, shimmery rose).

The next part was a Mystery goodie bag I got with my order. I am actually pleasantly surprised it's something I will actually use - a rose eyeshadow (heh), some B12 serum (IDK really), and a coffee body scrub.

In my haul I also ordered one of those "throw all you can of your skincare/cosmetics" and then pull the string and done - now you have a travel bag. It also came in a 1+1 sort of sale, so I gifted the other one to my sister.

Ohhh, of course, this post wouldn't be complete without my favorite (but non-cosmetics) purchase. These two lovely rings. Both are silver but with different stones. The right one is a peridot (wanted one for ages!) and the left is a tanzanite which was also on my WL for a long time.

Sadly I bought both one size or half of it (IDK, am a noob!) too big and was too stubborn to return them or exchange them. So I got myself some ring adjusters and now they fit fine!

It was my very first time ordering from a Slovenian site with jewelry and I am honestly impressed. The packaging was on point, and the messages with the rings too! Loved it!

And finally, I am not sure if you know this, but this Summer I am OBSESSED with self-tan. I have about 6 of them and I'm not even kidding. I wish I was, lol.

The Cocoa Brown is the latest (and probably last for a while) addition to my collection. The Face Serum was gifted, but the glove and body serum I purchased myself.

I need to make a proper review of them because that surely was an experience. :)

Catrice FAKE IT Volume & False Lash Mascara

There's a new mascara on the block! Luckily for me, I was searching for a new one when I found it in the store. It's called Fake it and it's from Catrice. Which is one of my favorite brands. Because it is usually inexpensive and of good quality.

I have very light eyelashes that need a bit of "oomph". Volume and length.

Let's see how did this mascara work for me.

I like the chunky packaging as it feels easier to hold in my hands. The wand has a special shape so it grabs the external lashes (which are usually the shortest).

Plus the yellow design just called my name as it's so fresh, so Summer, and it feels a bit trendy. Especially considering it's a mascara.

We all like seeing before & after photos, so here's one to compare my lashes with and without mascara.

Please excuse the dry flakey skin. I swear the camera picked up all the stuff it shouldn't. :P

It is a bit messy on my hooded eyes as it leaves a tad of marks on the upper eyelid (and sometimes the lower one). But I feel it does so less than most mascaras I've used. Especially the big, volume ones that I love so dearly.

But I do love the effect it gives me. Instant big lashes. Enough voluminous. Perfectly black. This time I didn't pick a waterproof mascara (I don't think it comes in a waterproof version). I don't mind, tho. It stays on for the whole day and even with some water, I can see it clinging to my eyelashes. It won't survive anything more than some rain, so don't go swimming it. :) It doesn't crumble during the day. That is important to me.

Beauty Tip
After you have applied your other eye-makeup, the mascara will help you to complete your expressive look with volumized lashes. Pull the wand with the fiber brush out of the bottle and ensure to use the right amount of product to avoid clumping. Begin to apply the mascara at the base of your upper lashes and wiggle the brush back and forth while pulling it to the tip of your lashes. Pay attention to apply most of the product at the roots to make your lashes appear longer and more curved. If you want, you can apply several layers for a bolder and more intense look.

OVERALL:

I am a fan of Catrice mascaras. Usually, I pick the sister brand Essence, but as I grow older I find myself choosing Catrice more and more.

The Catrice Fake It Mascara has a perfect consistency (not too dry and not too wet), the most amazing black color (what, I used some weird mascaras), and the staying power of a determined woman.

Plus the price is a fraction of other brands (6 euros vs 15 euros). For me, it is a win! Now I need it to come in a waterproof version.

My Current Skincare Routine

Today I am writing about my updated skincare routine. That's because I feel I'm finally back into the "fun" part of skincare, compared to when I was slathering my skin into heavy creams (because of allergies). If you are curious you can read my last skincare routine. When I was buying all the fun pots of magic (pretty Korean cosmetics). I still enjoy pretty pots, but now I'm more about finding something that works for me and sticking to it.

This time my skincare routine wasn't solely composed by myself, but I got help from Hana (who runs a lovely cosmetics store in Slovenia - Dragocena.si ). Shout out to Hana! :)

Without further ado, let's see what I'm currently using.

CLEANSING

I prefer to use double cleansing with the first step being a nice oil emulsion or a cleansing balm and the second a regular, gentle cleanser.

This way I can be sure that all the SPF is removed from my skin before I continue with my skincare routine.

I forgot to take a picture of my second cleanser - it completely escaped my mind. :o

I usually like thicker oil cleansers, but in a pinch, this Balea Cleansing Oil works for me. It's a very thin type of oil so I end up using more of it. But I don't mind as it's very inexpensive.

I also picked up a new product from Balea - a cleansing balm with 3% squalane. I tried it a couple of times and it's actually lovely. It has no scent per se.

For my second cleaning, I use Skintra Hug Your Skin, which is a creamy gentle cleanser. It's a very gentle cleansing product.

In addition to gentle cleansing ingredients, the emulsion also contains ingredients that support the hydrolipid barrier, so it not only cleanses the skin, but also helps to maintain an adequate level of hydration and has a nurturing effect already at the washing stage.
Let your skin enjoy a little pleasure. Our emulsion has a velvety, creamy texture that makes every cleansing not only a beauty ritual, but also a moment of relaxation for your skin.

A BIT OF HYDRATION

What to say, I love random skin toners even if they are just plain old water. I used a rose hydrolate for a very long time, but now I use a toner with galactomyces which my skin loves.

At least it did in the past, for now, I'm still trying to learn as I go. :)

Luckily for me, this product has both my loves in one product (rose water + galactomyces). It's the IUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner. I use it before I apply anything else and I use it mostly during the evening routine.

Then I use one of the two fun serums from Skintra (because it has very simple and gentle formulations that work for my skin).

The first one is named Everything That Your Skin Will Love which is this lovely hydrating serum. I used it while I was switching my routine and it honestly worked wonders. My skin was very dehydrated and when I induced this serum into my routine, it got back to happy and bouncy. I am not saying that it's a miracle product, but that it has enough moisture that it helps my skin. And funny enough I just realized that it also has galactomyces in it (I never read the label, uhh). :)

A tonic whose task is not only to restore the physiological pH of our skin. It has a multifunctional application based on multifunctional ingredients. Thanks to its ultra-light emulsion formula, it can be used as a cream, whose moisturizing, smoothing and softening properties were achieved mainly through hydrophilic (water-loving) ingredients.

The second serum/tonic is Let Your Skin Drink Up which is a similar product to the one mentioned before, but stronger. Thus in a stronger bottle.

An abundance of prebiotics and ferments intensively condition the skin microbiome to physiologically calm bacterial acne, soothe eczema and stimulate repair mechanisms. Hydrophilic active ingredients have a strong sebostatic effect, reduce active acne, soothe and accelerate regeneration processes. You will experience the full range of properties after several applications and they will last for a long time.

Both are wonderful and both are used differently in my routine. The lighter one, Everything That Your Skin Will Love I use daily before my moisturizer. While Let Your Skin Drink Up I use after stronger products (retinal, acids). It helps to give my skin a bit more of an ommmph.

Next in line is a wonderful cream which I love using very much. It's the APIS Hydro Evolution. It is very moisturizing which I enjoy.

Before this one, I also had another brilliant cream by APIS that is now discontinued. It was called Cleopatra's secret. It was a tad heavier but still amazing.

Intensive moisture participation – Apis Hydro Evolution ultra-light face cream effectively binds water in the skin. This smooths the complexion and makes it supple. It protects the natural barrier of the epidermis and thus prevents drying out.
Excellent composition – the intensively moisturising face cream Apis Hydro Evolution contains a unique Aquaxtreme complex and hyaluronic acid. The cosmetic also contains pear, flax and aloe vera extracts.

SUNCARE

We all know that sunscreen is a must, right? Especially during warmer days and well, daily if you're using active ingredients like retinal, acids, etc.

This time I was looking for a very light chemical sunscreen and I got exactly that. This is the Abib Heartleaf Sun Essence.

The sunscreen is very watery but easy to apply. It has no scent which is always lovely. It is very light and finally, I'm not all sweaty after using sunscreen!

The biggest downside is that it will slowly move towards my eyes which will in turn feel heavy or even sometimes burn after a prolonged wear.

CALMING SUNCARE: Protect your skin with a drop of Houttuynia cordata every day. 50,000 ppm of heartleaf extract not only calming your skin but also providing sun protection.
LIGHT ABSORB: Ultra-light essence textured sunscreen leaves no whitecast and is completely invisible on the skin with the moisturized finish.

SPECIAL PRODUCTS

With my newly updated skincare routine came a special cream with retinal. Not retinol because it's now banned in Europe in higher concentrations (over the counter).

Eeny Meeny Active Cream with Retinal is a lovely cream with 0,05% retinal and it works perfectly for me.

It is such a low dosage that my skin gets only a tiny bit dryer when I use it every 2nd day. But the benefits from use are immense. I can notice an immediate (okay overnight) change in the redness of my skin (rosacea) and it even helped me with that small pesky acne.

But seriously, seeing my skin without any redness was such a life-changing moment. As in I knew I had a neutral undertone but I felt like it was pink with all the redness. And after a night of using the cream, I woke up with my skin looking good. No more redness!

ACTIVE CREAM WITH RETINAL is a product recommended for the people who want to effectively prevent skin aging, as well as improve its condition and appearance. The cream is suitable for the care of all skin types, especially mature, lacking firmness, elasticity and acne prone to imperfections. The cosmetic rich in retinal of natural origin, i.e. a derivative of vitamin A, has a visible anti-wrinkle, regulating and smoothing effect. It evens out the skin tone, supports its regenerative processes, and participates in the synthesis of collagen, thus delaying the aging process. The cream, enriched with moisturizing and soothing ingredients, also prevents possible irritation and dryness. Long-term and regular use of the cosmetic visibly improves the appearance and condition of the skin.

The second product is a prescription cream for acne. During my IVF cycle, I couldn't use a retinal product, so I switched to Skinoren.

It's a strong formula of azelaic acid. It helps with acne and melasma. I remember getting it when I was a teenager with exactly zero instructions. So I just applied a bunch of the cream and went to town.

But this cream is unpleasant, to say the least. It is a bit dry (weird texture tbh) and makes the skin feel super dry when applied. But that's not all. It is also very white and itchy. The itchiness subdues after a couple of minutes, but it is bad if you don't know what to expect.

Luckily I use it just a couple of times per week and in such small quantities that I can survive the itchiness. However, it's a very unpleasant cream and I do totally understand why it's on prescription only.

This is practically it for my skincare routine, I may sound a bit confused, but that's only because it's been a while since I wrote a skincare blog post. Hopefully, it wasn't that bad to read. :)

While those "young lady" days are behind me, hello confident, awesome almost-old-lady (whoa, let's rephrase that – I'm totally rocking my prime!), it's time to embrace fabulous plus-size swimsuits. Speaking of fabulous, I spotted a brand on Instagram with stunning options for beautifully "nicely filled" figures like mine. Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish Compact Foundation

Lately, I've been going mostly bare-faced. Most makeup I use is for my brows, some mascara, and if I am shiny (sunscreen galore), I use the Rimmel Compact powder.

It's exactly what I've been looking for - which is a dupe (okay not really, but similar) to the AC Studio Fix Powder Plus compact powder foundation. But let us talk more about it in the post.

Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish Compact Foundation

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Compact Foundation is a lightweight, soft-touch powder foundation. It controls shine without feeling dry on your face. The fine powder blends seamlessly to provide medium, buildable, natural looking coverage that lasts all day. It comes in a convenient compact container with pressed powder for easy on-the-go make-up refresh. Available in a range of 12 shades.

I had in mind that for sure there aren't 12 shades of this, but then I went to check out and found that yes, it comes in 12 shades. Even here in Slovenia and honestly I'm shocked. I don't think I had such a problem finding my shade, so maybe that's why I can't remember there being so many options.

Anyway, I have it in the shade 002 Pearl which is a light pinkish shade.

The powder itself is very finely milled and feels like nothing on the skin. It takes using the sponge to get some coverage. It also doesn't have any perfume, it smells powdery.

Here's an original photo from Rimmel for easier picking of the shade. Looking at it I should have chosen the 001 Fair Porcelain shade because my hair is currently dyed in a deep mahogany color.

But nonetheless, I am very happy with my pick of the compact foundation. It's everything I wanted and needed it to be. Plus it comes with a small sponge under the powder compartment. I never thought I'd use it, but it's practically the only thing I use to apply it.

It packs enough powder for a nice and even layer. Of course, if you need a lighter layer, you can use another brush. I like using a kabuki with dense bristles. That gives an even application.

I use it after using a cream or sunscreen because it mattifies quite a bit. And if you have dry skin it may accentuate those dry patches. But comparing it to the compact powder I was using before - MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus - it's less drying and unforgiving.

The Rimmel compact powder also gives me a more even skin tone. I have some overall redness and some marks from random acne, but with the powder, all is well. I can go out looking semi-human again.

The staying power is fine. I don't know how much it does exactly because I can't keep my hands off my face, but it will easily survive a day out. I may get a bit shiny if I get sweaty with it on, but otherwise, it doesn't budge.

Also please keep in mind my phone camera likes to dramatically enhance all the nice things on my skin. Especially if I use the back camera. It just likes to enhance all the fun parts of having skin. :)

There aren't many products that I own that I have to search for their negative properties so I can write about them. But honestly, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Compact Foundation is a simple product. It does what it's supposed to and it does so without drama.

The packaging is sturdy, and the sponge included is decent and does the job well (I know, I know, it's a sponge and who uses them?! Well, surprise, I do lol). I get enough coverage so I don't have to use a liquid foundation, which makes me happy.

With age, I realized that I enjoy simplicity when it comes to decorative skin products and Rimmel does deliver.

I also like that it's inexpensive too. My Mac powder was all fine and dandy but in the end, I couldn't get the powder from the ridges. I felt like I threw money away. However, I broke those pieces off and used it as a regular powder for a while, but I hated it. Give me compacts all day!
