Decades of research focus mostly on the risk factors and causes of heart disease in men. It is only in recent times that more research is being carried out to understand cardiovascular disease in woman.

Signs and Symptoms

You might think that women share the same signs and symptoms as one. This is a common misconception even among doctors. Typical symptoms of angina or chest pain includes crushing stabbing pain at the chest lasting more than a few minutes, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, light-clear-headedness, sweating and fainting. Most of these symptoms appear in males but in the female gender symptoms are more vague. They typically present in females as an overwhelming sense of fatigue, sudden urge to lie down, indigestion, shortness of breath, anxiety or nervousness.

Women with heart disease also have higher morbidity and mortality rates. For example women are more likely to suffer repeat attacks and also more likely to experience complications during bypass surgery. Younger woman with a family history of heart attacks are more likely to succumb to the disease. Younger woman are also unlikely to recognize the symptoms of angina than older women. The number of women dying from heart attacks also far surpasses women who die from breast cancer. These statistics might paint a grim picture on heart disease in women but the reality is that more men have a higher rate of cardiovascular problems.

Risk Factors

The risk factors for getting heart attacks is pretty much the same as in males. Modifiable risk factors include diet, exercise, smoking and lifestyle. Non-modifiable risk factors are race, family history and a background history of cardiovascular disease. You can do a lot by paying close attention to your modifiable risk factors.

So what can you do if you are part of the statistic?

If you are on a high fatty diet, need I say more? Cut down on these fatty foods. Regulate your intake of salt and red meat. Fish is good because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acid which reduces clog went of the arteries. Smoking speeds up atherosclerosis which is basically clog went of the arteries and if you are smoking, cut down and if possible cease completely. Lifestyle may be a difficult thing to change. There are certain things you can do to help change your lifestyle. Take a break or a short holiday from work. Pay close attention to your health and do not force yourself to do more than you can. Most doctors recommend 30 minute walks five times a week. This might not be feasible for some. My advice would be to start slow and build up.

Final Words

I hope you will find this article useful especially for my female readers. Heart disease in women is a disease that needs to be recognized and identified as early as possible to reduce morbidity and mortality.

Bryan Wong YH

Anxiety attack symptoms in women-the simple ways to cure anxiety attacks

Anxiety attack symptoms in women are no different than that in men, both men and women almost the similar symptoms of this problem experienced. Doctors who guessed it was "all in their head" could be wrong not to treat these women for heart attacks.

Symptoms of a heart attack

Just like heart disease in women can take various forms, a heart attack may look different, too. Many feel short of breath, without having exercised.

Women rarely have chest pain, while most men of chest pains about six hours before the attack burden. About half of the women do not feel pain, or shortness of breath and trouble breathing deep, but not the sharp pain that we associate with a heart attack. Instead, cardiovascular disease in women who turns in an attack often shows itself in the back and shoulder cramping. Women rarely have numbness of the arms, but often develop numbness and cramp in their shoulders. Some women also say that she had pain in their jaw and neck a few days before the attack. Doctors still don't know why this might be the case, but a surprising number of women reported this problem.

Many women have a heart attack actually feel like they have the flu-up to and including sneezing. Weakness, fever, dizziness and similar flu-like symptoms are very common. Because of this, it is difficult to diagnose the issue, but when back, chest and neck pressure or pain are also present, the problem may be an impending heart attack. Anxiety, indigestion and panic attacks in the hours before a heart attack are also common. The indigestion actually can begin a few days previously and is not relieved by over-the-counter medications.

Reversing heart disease

In addition to knowledge of your symptoms, you also need to think about how to get rid of the problem. By eating well, you can get plenty of exercise, and live a healthy lifestyle, you will actually improve your heart health – even if you've had problems. In response, action cardiovascular diseases most in women than in men.

One of the causes of heart attacks in women is the inactivity women after delivery is linked to. This is more reason women under scrutiny after delivery to prevent the emergence of this deadly disease should be placed.

According to the American heart association report is heart attacks account for a third of all deaths in women and also the leading cause of death in women over 50 in America.

Cardiovascular disease in women who mild in nature is called Angina. This is a mild heart attack that is characterized by reversible chest pain that up to five minutes. Women heart attack symptoms of this nature are feelings of pressure or feeling of numbness, heaviness behind the breast bone or across the chest.

What causes heart disease in women of this nature is usually poor circulation and reduced oxygen supply to the muscles of the heart. This type of cardiovascular disease in both men and women but more often in women. It is relieved by rest or special medication.

In general, begins cardiovascular disease in women 10 years later than men due to the protective effects of the female hormone, estrogen, menopause. However, after the menopause, when the level of estrogen is low, of heart attack increases.

American Heart Association reports that smoking the risk of heart attack triples. It certainly is some of the most feared diseases that a women can think of, but it is the biggest killer of women over 50 years old?

Surprisingly shows research and statistics that cancer is not the culprit in this case, no heart disease takes the credit for this one. We often think of ourselves as invulnerable to heart attacks and strokes, but if you are a woman in menopause phase of your life, then now is the time to pay attention.

According to research, women certainly has a very definable advantage compared to men in terms of cardiovascular disease, but we certainly catch up very quickly and by the age of 65 have the same risk of having a heart attack, stroke or other coronary disease as men do. Shocked by this age has us women a greater chance of dying from it.

Work and the physiological differences between men and women hearts only studied now, it became clear that these differences are literally killing us.We discuss the reasons:

1. women symptoms are different

A woman can never be sick as they are always to be ready for the spouse, children and for themselves, so they sometimes might feel a bit "under the weather" and can easily mistake these as normal aging or just exhausted. Many times cardiac disease is when a woman symptoms of cardiomyopathy is missed is different and more subtle. They could have the classic symptoms that are known by the dooming chest pain and it all known pain down the left arm, but not always as they can sometimes minimal disruption and no chest pain. Women will usually be the following brands when there is an underlying cardiovascular disease:

Profound fatigue
Difficulty breathing
Feeling dizzy
Nausea
Vomiting
That an impending sense of doom
Profuse sweating
Pain or discomfort in the neck or upper back, shoulder blade
Burning abdominal pain
2. consideration and response to treatment

When a woman is diagnosed with a heart disease or heart attack, they are treated with various medications as men. When women treated for cardiac disease, works the medication used not as effective with women as in men. It is shown that some anticoagulants just works better for men than women.

3. diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases

As the treadmill stress test and angiography normal test procedures typically used for the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease are not useful to diagnose women from cardiovascular disease. An angiogram is used to determine the health of the blood vessels, but give false information in women a ship a significant plaque lining has clearly and therefore will appear. This happens when the plaque lining has not intruded in the vessel.

4. women "tough it out"

Nobody ever want to admit they are having a heart attack and usually try to convince themselves if they have symptoms of a heart attack that it's probably just indigestion or heartburn. Women tends to minimize the inconvenience of pain and a heart so long wait will admit they are having a heart attack and medical assistance.

Women also have a higher tolerance for cardiac pain and will therefore not experience it as painful as men. This sound may already be good, but it's not like it could mean that women with chest pain will not be treated as aggresively as in the case with men.

REDUCE YOUR RISK NOW!

Although you are not your age, gender and family history can, there are many other factors that you can to reduce your risk of getting heart disease. You can certainly change your lifestyle and your social behavior. Changes in the right lifestyle can reduce your risk of heart disease by as much as 50% within 10 years. Here are some of the most important changes:

1. stay on top of your health

It is extremely important to annual check-ups to determine potential threats and problems. It is very important to your blood pressure checked and to do a cholesterol screen. It is also very important should you suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure monitor and within normal limits. This will help your body to go with all the stress and have a more healthy lifestyle and eventually live longer.

2. quit smoking!

Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health and it is very hard on your body. This is even worse for women than for men, but we don't tell them that they would otherwise think they have reason to keep. Statistics show that women who smoke has a much higher risk of cardiovascular disease much faster than those who do not smoke.

3. diet and exercise

I know that it's that ugly word again…. diet! If it was easy for all of us would be thin and fit, but it's not. More moving and getting used to a low fat diet are both things that can be easily monitored and managed, and it will add years to your life.

4. dont's stress, happy

Stress and depression are very hard on your heart and have adverse effects on your life. Always try to reduce your stress and enjoy a healthy lifestyle as this will some of the pressure on your heart.

5. take aspirin

Aspirin can be very good to the load on your heart to reduce, but only after a consultation with your physician should be taken. Aspirin can also be a very deadly medication during a stroke if it is an anticoagulant and lead the patient to will to have continuous bleeding. Always consult your physician before using a new or long-term medication.

6. never forget your roots

It is always advisable to know what diseases were prominent in your family history. Knowing this can help you and your doctor to get the best treatmant and lifestyle based on your risk factor to plan. Prevention is better than cure did my mother always use to say, and I'm sticking to it.

7. education, teaching and education

Educating yourself on each topic is the best weapon against anything. Always read about your health and the stages of your life to know what to be careful, what to avoid and what is normal and what is not. This way you will immediately see it as something abnormal. When you have learned about it, spread the word and warn all your family and friends, they will thank you for it and you might save their lives. Let's help each other to stay healthy.

And now, repeat after me: I'm irreplaceable! Now the believe and live like you mean.

Chest pain anxiety-Panic strikes

Panic disorder has been described by repeated panic or anxiety that usually happens unexpectedly: "out of nowhere ... without warning I felt chest pain and fear." Easy situational (phobic) panic may be present, but usually there is no consistent prevention. She thought she was with an episode of acid reflux and delayed calling her doctor. When she finally her doctor, he asked her to go to his Office at his request, and had an EKG (electrocardiogram). He faxed the EKG to a cardiologist who told him to send his patient to the hospital. A week later had Cindy a triple bi-pass surgery.

The story is real, not the names. I write an article for a local newspaper about the need for women to recognize that their symptoms of a heart attack are probably very different from the symptoms of a man. The goal is to get the word out that women, especially women over 50, should have regular checkups with physicians other than their gynaecologists.

Colleagues, this story is just as important for you, because I am that you have a mother, a wife, a sister, a significant other who am betting if Cindy thinks she should also know except that women have heart attacks.

What I have learned is that the situation for Cindy common. Women who have atypical symptoms, such as arm or back pain or nausea, might not realize that they have a heart attack. Then, when they need assistance try, doctors sometimes misdiagnose them or treat them with the same urgency as they do with men complaining of possible heart attacks.

Dr. Pamela Marcovitz, Director of the Ministrelli women's Heart Center in Royal Oak, Michigan, explains that women still do not think of himself at the risk of heart attack. They also tend to excuse their symptoms, and slow down emergency go because they don't want to make a mistake or someone the trouble. Some women just don't think their pain signaled something and did not warrant immediate medical attention.

Doctors advise women to learn the various symptoms of heart attacks and 911 when one of these characters to appear. The longer a woman waits before your treatment to open the blocked blood vessels to the heart, the more damage is done to the heart muscle. If there are a lot of heart muscle that is damaged the woman is a greater risk of heart failure.

In addition to the acute chest pain and numbness left arm that are common symptoms in men, for women are other symptoms: shortness of breath, weakness, and unusual fatigue. Other symptoms for women are nausea, dizziness, chest, upper back pain and discomfort that feels like indigestion.

Keep in mind that a woman heart attack quite different from the symptoms of a man watching can.

If you feel discomfort and drive the feeling you have attention not to the hospital. 911 call so paramedics evaluation can begin as soon as they reach you. Why talk about heart attack symptoms specifically for women?

Well, in a sense a heart attack is a heart attack, but at the time of the attack, it may vary between a man and a woman. However, the end result is the same for both, though.

(P/s: a heart attack occurs when part of the heart muscle due to lack of blood flow die of; it means usually a blockage in the artery heart)

Let's see what are the most common symptoms of a heart attack first, then only zero-in for those who are more specifically for women.

70% of people will experience a kind of symptom in their chest but it may not necessarily be a pain; It can be a pressure or burning and can be up to their shoulders, or jaw or neck or back. On the other hand, some people don't have a lot of chest pain at all-they only have discomfort or pressure in their back or between their shoulder blades is experiencing many also shortness of breath; get nausea; maybe even vomiting and thinks they're the stomach flu could get some very sweaty and clammy and break into a cold sweat; palpitations or feeling lightheaded

You can see that the symptoms wide.

Now, we will see what are some symptoms that more specifically for a woman when it comes to heart attack.

The truth is, there are no real symptoms that can be referred to as ' women Symptoms "when it comes to heart attack.

However, if we look at the wide range of symptoms (for men and women), women may be more likely not have pain in their chest but maybe in their shoulders or between their shoulder blades and possibly more of GI symptoms, nausea or vomiting, sense or feeling of an upset stomach.

But ... There are still of men who have lots and lots of women have typical chest pain ....

What women need to find is so this-to know what all the symptoms.

Having said that, you still want to know what a woman should do if they are not the typical symptoms, correct? Maybe she has nausea or dizziness or feeling sweaty or clammy .... and she is concerned that this may have a heart attack.

What should they do?

Well, I think they should do this 3, at least:

If this is a new symptom is that she never had before and the sustainable more than a few minutes and she really feels unwell, she has her doc or 911 call on the other hand, if it is a symptom that they had before and is an antacid has worked for the, it's fine to try the antacid and see if that works

If they could be a heart attack suspect, they should tell her doc that (because her doc can be especially do not know if they do not like the typical heart attack "type look") and get tested for a heart attack

Heart attack symptoms for women-no chest pain?

Notice that the mother just doesn't look right and you ask her if she ok. "I'm just tired, that's all, it's no big deal." You sit down and talk with her for a while longer. How about women? Research shows that she could look very different from each other. According to a recent study by the National Institute of Health (NIH), women are less likely to have "classic" symptoms during a heart attack. What are you looking for? How do you know? The study found that the 3 most common symptoms women experienced before from a cardiac event were: unusual fatigue, sleep disturbance and shortness of breath.

No chest pain for heart attacks?

Wait, no chest pain? According to the NIH said 95 percent of the women they surveyed that she knew that their symptoms were new or different a month or more before their coronary attack.

During the actual heart attack, women reported these symptoms, most common first:

Shortness Of Breath Weakness Unusual fatigue Cold sweats Dizziness

Note that pain is not even among the top five symptoms reported!

The symptoms of the pre-heart attack women reported most often were:

Unusually tired Disturbed sleep Shortness Of Breath Indigestion Fear

Many women never had chest pain

Less than 30 percent said they had chest pain or discomfort for their attacks, and nearly half (43%) said they had no chest pain during a part of their attack.

This is a great concern, because most doctors still chest pain as the main character of heart attacks in both men and women think.

Women's symptoms are not so predictable

Patricia Grady, PhD, RN, Director of the National Institute for nursing research, said, "... women symptoms are not as predictable as men. This study offers hope that both women and clinicians the wide range of symptoms that can indicate on heart attack will realize. It is important not to miss in order to prevent or ease as soon as possible ... the number one cause of death in both women and men. "

Doctors still don't know that the importance of the symptoms women reported a month or more for their attacks. This may someday be used to predict an upcoming heart problem. But note that many people have these symptoms. If you asked, millions of people would probably admit is tired, problems with sleep, is short of breath, indigestion and fear.

So what can be done about it?

--Women should keep in mind that they have a heart attack, even without any chest pain can have.

--They need to pay attention to symptoms. A woman needs a doctor or an emergency clinic to see if they have the symptoms reported in the study. It's never a good idea to gamble with your life.

--And women can help their chances against a heart attack by getting some exercise regularly, eat wisely and taking good addition.

My personal favorite supplement is omega-3 fish oil. Thousands of published medical studies have shown the benefits of fish oil in cardiovascular disease, and it is the first ever supplement recommended by the American Heart Association.

Heart attacks in women-causes and symptoms

For years the idea that women were unlikely to experience a major coronary event due to the protection of certain female hormones. While there is truth is tearing up this long held view that we now know that by age 65 women are just as likely as men have a serious heart problem and more likely to die. With the average age of a heart attack is 66 years old can be a quickly to the conclusion that women and men equally in danger.

A heart attack occurs when near total blockade of one of the coronary arteries occurs, this condition is known as a myocardial infarction. In most cases this event to a crescendo when a blood clot forms in a part of the coronary already smaller by the accumulation of arterial plaque. This would explain why an unexpected heart attack can occur in women without any warning signs or symptoms.

Heart attack symptoms in women are generally serious with some description of the event if someone sit on their chest. In general, the pain begins and the tightness in the chest, quickly spread through the upper body in the neck, arm, shoulder, or the jaw, and does not go away with the rest. Symptoms in women are more often than not of generalized pain instead of the more specific and localized variety seen in men.

For women who are older than 60, or those with diabetes who had a heart attack can occur with no pain. This phenomenon is known as a silent heart attack.

With or without pain symptoms in women will almost always one or more of these heart related symptoms: sporadic or constant pressure or squeezing in the chest; pain originating from the chest to the shoulders, neck, arm, and the jaw; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing without chest pain; rapid or irregular heart beat (palpitations); an abnormally rapid or weak pulse; a change in facial coloration (graying); extreme tiredness, fear or weakness with no apparent cause; cold sweat; dizziness; and stomach complaints.

Note: One of the is of a serious coronary blockage in women above jaw pain. This is a common heart attack symptom in women and often overlooked by both carers and both doctors. If you are experiencing jaw pain and no reason can be found for your discomfort, you should immediately seek medical attention to determine whether you are a heart attack.

If any of the above signs are noticed immediate medical attention. It is important to note that as a serious heart attack occurs your cells are deprived of oxygen and will begin to die in 4 minutes or less.

If you want to know more about cholesterol (one of the main causes of arterial blockage leads to a heart attack) or a safe and effective all natural cholesterol lowering supplement containing of policosanol click here

How heart disease Is different In women

In the last few years, we have an increase in the emphasis of cardiovascular disease in women. The perception has somehow been cardiovascular disease is "only a man's problem". Not so! Cardiovascular disease can act differently in women, but it is equally serious.

Many know the classic symptoms of a heart attack-crushing chest pain and pain radiating to the left arm or back. Did you know that these classic symptoms are more common in men who are women? True, chest pain is still a very common symptom, but women often have other symptoms. These symptoms can extreme fatigue, shortness of breath (with or without chest pain), pain in the upper back or abdomen, nausea and vomiting. Because cardiovascular disease can itself so different and go unrecognized, it is valuable for women to learn about the risks and learn to recognize these symptoms in their own body as something that can be serious and need immediate attention.

Key statistics about heart and vascular diseases

How large is a real risk of heart disease for women? If you think that it's not really that important, consider this:

About half a million women die annually of cardiovascular disease
This means more lives lost to heart disease and stroke in women than to six the following of death causes
Each year approximately 435000 women have heart attacks, and there are six times so many women die annually of heart attack from breast cancer
Currently, eight million women living with heart disease of some sort. Let's put it another way--10% of all women ages 45-64, and 25% of women over the age of 65 have cardiovascular disease.
Who is At Risk?

Several risk factors play an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases. I'm sure you may have heard them all before, but we will review the causes. They are important to know, and important to check if possible. It is so much better to try and prevent cardiovascular disease than to treat heart attacks and strokes after they happen.

High Blood Pressure -causes damage to both the heart as a pump and blood vessels. A third of the adults in the us have high blood pressure, and about one in 10 high blood pressure and don't even know it. Untreated high blood pressure will lead to cardiovascular disease.

Obesity -overweight puts an additional load on the heart. Over time, the obesity lead to high blood pressure and diabetes. Your weight will reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Diabetes -with diabetes is now recognized as an award from the same risk for a large heart event (such as a heart attack) as someone who is already known that cardiovascular diseases. What does this mean? Well, women with diabetes 2-3 times more likely to have a heart attack than someone who doesn't have diabetes.

Smoking -if you smoke you have a chance of having a heart attack a whopping 19 years earlier than you otherwise would. STOP SMOKING NOW!

Race -percentage of cardiovascular diseases is higher African-American women, with the rate of heart attack is twice that of white women ages 55-64. And Pacific Islanders, Latinos and American Indians have a higher rate of diabetes and therefore more cardiovascular diseases as well.

Cholesterol -high cholesterol levels are an important risk factor in both men and women. It contributes to a build up of plaque on the inner wall of the blood vessels, which in turn to heart attack and strokes can lead. Cholesterol tend to creep in women after menopause when hormone levels fall.
How can I get my risks under control?

Most of us know how important it is to a healthy weight, exercise regularly, and eat a healthy diet high in vegetables, fruits and cereals. I can't tell you there is an easy way for good health without doing all these things, because it's all still true. They are just as important as they once were. But realistic weight goals, and try for consistency. After all, will lose a pound a week means that in a year that you have lost 52 pounds! That's a lot, even if you really, really overweight.

Care and visit your Health Care Professional regularly for screening of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. You must be early and immediate action to address these risk factors to check. The optimal treatment of hypertension (HOT) study confirmed that lower blood pressure-120-125 mmHg systolic (the highest number) and 80-85 mmHg diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) on treatment had reached better results that those with higher blood pressure. If you are a diabetic trying to get that number under 125 mmHg systolic pressure. This is much lower than the 140/90 mmHg we heard earlier that the "magic" number was. The study showed even lower number as important in lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Women have a much higher incidence to the problems of the thyroid gland. A low thyroid can contribute to weight gain, higher cholesterol, and higher triglycerides, which in turn can increase cardiovascular risk. In particular, women get a thryoid panel as part of their screening, especially as they age.

Don't forget the fiber! The average American eats only 10-15 grams of fiber per day when you have about 30 grams. Whole wheat bread, cereals and soluble fiber (such as barley grains), the fiber content of your diet. Even so, we have trouble getting that much fibre in their daily diet.

It is important you identify your own risk factors and change your life style to check what risks you may have, and of course feel better in the process.

How to treat fibroids abdominal pain naturally

If you would know how to treat fibroids abdominal pain, of course, there are a number of steps you can take to get help. Let us know more about what symptoms of heart attack women are likely to experience.

Research studies conducted by the National Institute of Health strongly suggests that some women have a slightly different set of symptoms can occur when a heart attack (medically known as myocardial infarction). Although there are many similarities, women heart attack symptoms are rather special in a few ways.

Heart attack symptoms different women

The ever more frequent in men than women. Because there are less cases of myocardial infarction (MI) in women, is the fact that symptoms of this condition is different in women only realized recently.

Many studies have consistently found that many women always acute chest pains during a heart attack. While many women some tightness in the chest area experienced severe chest pain, that hallmark symptom of heart failure in men, often not seen. Many years ago, doctors were not aware of the differences in its symptoms that they the severity of heart attacks in women misdiagnose.

Symptoms in women can be "Milder"

Shortness of breath, general feeling of weakness, palpitations, upper abdominal pressure and unusual fatigue are the most common symptoms of MI in women. Indigestion klam sweating and sleep disturbances can also be indicative of a heart attack in treatment. Women feel these symptoms are usually mild and small and can be experienced on a regular day.

Women's Symptoms are not as Predictable

It's pretty clear by now that the symptoms of the women may not be as predictable and comprehensive as that in men. While symptoms in men more overwhelming, can often symptoms of heart attack in women seem to mask other less potentially debilitating diseases such as arthritis, indigestion, pulled muscles, gastrointestinal upset or fear.

Great effects in women

Because of the differences in symptoms often find women not sure whether or not to take seriously the symptoms. This would not be the case. No matter how mild the may experience symptoms, it's always best to consult a physician.

If you go to the doctor with stomach pain, it can only prove some gastrointestinal problem and not a heart problem. But sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry. It pays to err on the side of caution, especially if your risk factors are high.

Common symptoms in women

A symptom that women have in common with men is that women are also breast-related symptoms of heart attack can occur.
