Tsukauchi and Gran Torino head to the mountains to find Kurogiri‘s supposed hideout. It comes after receiving multiple witness reports in the past few days. Torino thinks the suspicious action means he‘s working on something. In any case, it‘s a great opportunity to capture the villain.

After receiving a hint from their scouting team, Gran Torino launches immediately to tackle Kurogiri. Yet instead of feeling alarmed, Kurogiri warns them that there has been a wildling lost in the forest area. He has come to find the wildling.

Suddenly, the ground shakes around them. Kurogiri notes that his master‘s prediction of the future is perfectly accurate. All For One mentored others aside from Tomura Shigaraki. The person is one of them. He is also one of All For One‘s most loyal servants, Gigantomachia. A gigantic man appears before them carrying a boombox on his neck. The ground shakes once again, and it‘s stronger.

Back at the hospital, Aizawa tells Midoriya not to feel guilty after hearing about the leagues‘ abduction of Overhaul. All the student interns have recovered and should return to school, except for Mirio, whose condition still needs observation. Since he can‘t visit Eri just yet, Midoriya opts to visit Mirio in his room.

With a Smile

He finds his upperclassman looking spry and already exercising on his bed. Mirio expresses frustration at being left behind but smiles just the same. He lost his quirk and mentor during the last fight, and he admits that it‘s hard. Even though he was strict, Nighteye always smiled at him. That‘s why he resolves to not cry and to continue working to become a hero.

Midoriya feels guilty that everything could have been prevented had Mirio received One For All. He suddenly blurts about transferring his quirk to him when Mirio cuts him off to say that it’s not acceptable. Losing his quirk would affect him greatly, and besides, he‘s Deku, the hero.

Mirio might regain his quirk once Eri learns how to use hers properly. He knows he can‘t continue studying at UA but still plans to get himself stronger after hearing Nighteye‘s last prediction.

Immediately after getting discharged, Midoriya and Kirishima get taken by the police for questioning on the Haissaikai.

Meanwhile, back at school, Bakugo and Todoroki prepare for their provisional exam.

Midoriya and Kirishima arrive late at the dorm alongside Tsuyu and Uraraka, who also got caught doing paperwork on the raid. The rest of Class 1-A meet them at the door, relieved that they‘re all safe. They shower them with treats and lots of care.

Journeys Old and New

Bakugo and Todoroki retire to their rooms early for their training the next day.

A lot has changed for the intern team after such. Uraraka gets a strong urge to help other people after feeling that she fell short of rescuing Nighteye. Midoriya remembers his journey to save Eri, along with all the sacrifices that it entailed. Even though his body was worn out, it was still hard to sleep that night.

The next day, Present Mic and All Might accompany Bakugo and Todoroki for their training. Eraserhead won‘t be present during the days as he‘ll be helping Eri control her quirk. The two heroes will also serve as their bodyguards.

The day before, Gran Torino reports to All Might that they‘ve captured Kurogiri, but the operation cost a lot. Gigantomachia is still at large.

Endeavor finds All Might at the exam venue and wants to talk. Meanwhile, the UA and Shiketsu students meet up, unaware that there‘s a harder session ahead.

Our Thoughts

This episode was heavy. Even though they were successful in their operation, the students are still left questioning themselves. Rating: 3.8/5.

After Overhaul is defeated, his second-in-command, Kurono, tries to stab Eraserhead to protect their final product. But Suneater arrives alongside the police to stop him. Tsuyu approaches them to report what happened above.

Midoriya tries to catch his breath after the fight. He‘s about to ask Eri if she‘s okay when her quirk starts acting up uncontrollably.

Unconscious, Chisaki remembers the boss telling him to uphold the Yakuza‘s dignity. He touches Eri, which returns his and Katsukame‘s body to normal. Uravity snatches Overhaul from the air and subdues him. Ryukyu then arrives bringing Suneater and Lemillion to the surface. There they find Eri still struggling above Midoriya.

The little girl panics as he fears for Midoriya‘s life. She sheds a tear after remembering Overhaul telling her about her cursed existence. Thankfully, Eraserhead regains consciousness and dispels her quirk.

Midoriya hugs her in relief as they collapse to the ground. Ryukyu orders the search for the League of Villains. The police and rescue personnel round up everyone from the underground facility.

Midoriya hands Eri to the paramedics as she starts suffering from a high fever. Red Riot and Lemillion are heavily injured, while Sir Nighteye is in critical condition. He tells Midoriya that he changed the future. Midoriya responds that he and All Might should meet and patch things up. He has to do his best and survive.

Although there were a lot of injuries sustained during the fight, Ryukyu thanks Midoriya for a job well done.

Repercussions

Overhaul and the other Shie Haissaikai members are taken by the police team headed toward a hospital. Suddenly, the convoy carrying Overhaul meets a sinister force in front of them. Shigaraki and the league have gained a position from the reports of Himiko.

The Sand hero Snatch defends Dabi‘s initial flame attack, but their cars get tumbled from Compress‘ beads. Shigaraki goes for Overhaul‘s restraining bed while Compress and Dabi defeat the hero.

Shigaraki disintegrates Overhaul‘s arm while Compress takes the other. They take Overhaul‘s bullets. Shigaraki laughs as his enemy loses everything he has ever built. The villains leave Overhaul screaming.

A new group of police and heroes survey the crime scene and marvel at how only a few of the nearby residents and properties were affected. Nejire tells them that it was all thanks to Deku for fighting the enemy on air and carefully targeting his strikes.

Reprieve

The doctor tells Midoriya that much of his body is fine, except for his arm. Aizawa calls him in to meet with the others. He apologizes to him for not being there at the crucial moments. Kirishima, Fat Gum, and Amajiki suffered from recoverable injuries while Rock Lock was lucky that the knife missed his organs.

As for Eri, she‘s still in a coma due to fever. There‘s no sure way of taking care of her without Aizawa‘s presence. If he wasn‘t there to erase her quirk when he did, the outcome could have been much worse. Putting her in quarantine would be the best course of action given that they don‘t know her state of mind yet.

They arrive in a room with All Might, Recovery Girl, Centipede, and Bubble Girl. Sir Nighteye is in such a critical condition that Recovery Girl‘s quirk no longer works.

All Might apologizes to Nighteye. Nighteye admits that all he ever wanted was to change the future, something that Midoriya had shown to be possible. Perhaps it was his relentless energy, and other people‘s trust that brought it. Mirio barges and pleads for him to keep living, but soon he takes his last breath with a smile on his face.

Our Thoughts

Eri, Overhaul, and Nighteye‘s endings are all very tragic in this episode. These bolder choices give the anime an edge. 4/5.

At the Shie Haissaikai Lieutenant Residence, Ryukyu subdues the villain Katsukame and leaves them to the police. They‘re about to continue inside to help the others when the heroes and police suddenly feel lightheaded. Katsukame, whose quirk is the ability to absorb energy through touch, just got a boost from the pills he took earlier, and the effects are kicking in.

Ryukyu fights the villain alongside Nejire as the others are incapacitated. Suddenly, Deku arrives to call Uraraka for support, leading them to the underground spot where Nighteye and the others are fighting.

Hearing it, Uraraka lets the Katsukame float. Tsuyu carries him and Ryukyu to the spot that was indicated. As they smash through the concrete, they‘re surprised to see the real Deku fighting underground. It turns out that Himiko was the one they met earlier using a disguise.

Twice and Himiko watch from above with their copy of Mr. Compress.

The real Midoriya tells his friends to take care of the wounded Sir Nighteye as the battle against Overhaul continues.

Overhaul slings himself and Eri to the hole in the ceiling to escape. Eri finds Lemillion‘s cape flying through the wind and tries to reach out for it.

In a flashback, the boss told Chisaki to look at his granddaughter‘s dangerous quirk. After brutal inspections, he realized she had the ability to rewind others.

Rewind

Eri reaches for the cape and inadvertently disables Overhaul‘s connection with Nemoto. She escapes and jumps toward Midoriya.

Finally, Midoriya catches Eri and promises to never let go. Overhaul goes into a fit of rage and attacks with a barrage of pillars, but Midoriya gets a new determination to become the type of hero he wants.

Deku blasts through Overhaul‘s attacks with one kick and flies to the sky using wind pressure. He‘s surprised that he used One For All fully and worries if his legs are still intact.

Overhaul breaks down Katsukame to use his body.

Ryukyu wants to help, but Nighteye gets a prediction that Midoriya will die. Uraraka wants to run after hearing it, but her legs give out. Nighteye tells her and Ryukyu to take him to the surface.

Midoriya lands and finds that his legs are still intact after using 100% of his power. His injuries have also been healed. It must be due to Eri‘s power, although it isn‘t perfect as he feels a slight backlash.

Overhaul explains that her rewinding power is out of control and can cause people to return to nothing.

Surpassing Predictions

Midoriya refuses and opts to speed himself up more to nullify Eri‘s aftereffects. He goes Full Cowl 100% and asks for her help once more.

Overhaul attacks using Katsukame‘s abnormally titanic flesh. He can‘t give her up as she has the ability to erase mutations from humans, including their quirks. But Midoriya‘s speed proves too much as he smashes the villain to the sky.

Uraraka takes Nighteye to the surface to watch them. Midoriya feels Eri‘s power grow stronger and thinks about their limits.

Overhaul remembers the path he took to make the Haissaikai great again, ignoring the old boss‘ ideals to create his drug empire. He even planted a sickness in the boss and promised to fix him after he was done.

Overhaul reconstructs Katsukame‘s body again in a frenzy of rage, but Midoriya dodges. He responds with a barrage of punches to Chisaki and disintegrates the villain‘s body, blasting him back to the ground.

Sir Nighteye witnesses it all and smiles after seeing his prediction go wrong.

Absolutely epic end-of-arc episode with emotional twists and clever power combinations. Rating: 4.2/5.

Overhaul offers to clean up Lemillions‘ delusion as the hero continues to fight despite losing his quirk. Suddenly, the wall breaks to make way for Midoriya.

Sometime earlier, Sir Nighteye and the other heroes scramble to find their way back to Eri. They were lost due to Mimic‘s power, who has no more energy to reverse the damage. The police worry that Toga and Twice could still be lurking somewhere.

Midoriya remembers Eraser Head‘s promise to stop the operation if the league gets involved, but Rock Lock tells them to continue and leave the league to the police. Ryukyu, Suneater, and Fat Gum paved the way for them to move on. They‘re so close to their goal and shouldn‘t hesitate any longer.

It motivates the group to continue. Rock Lock was hesitant about the students at first, but they‘ve since proved to be more than capable. He wants Deku and Nighteye to keep their word and save the girl.

Somewhere above, Himiko and Twice overhear the heroes‘ conversation. She wants to follow and see Overhaul get beaten. Twice gets an idea and shares it with her. She hopes that after the battle, both the heroes and Yakuza would break themselves further.

After finally catching up to Overhaul and Mirio, Midoriya greets Overhaul with a quick punch. Eraser Head nullifies the villain and calls for Nighteye to rescue the girl. Nighteye scans the situation and assures Mirio that Eri will be ok.

He Who Meddles

Eraser and Midoriya move toward Overhaul, but the villain Chronostasis stops Eraser with his quirk. Midoriya dodges but his teacher‘s speed is hampered. As a result, he closes his eyes and frees up Overhaul.

Overhaul absorbs Nemoto into him and becomes a huge monster. Chronostasis subdues Eraser and slows him down to a snail. Overhaul curses Lemillion and blames the loss of his quirk in his meddling actions.

Nighteye fights the villain and orders Midoriya to defend the two wounded ones. He‘s proud of Mirio‘s actions and swears to protect everything he stands for. Suddenly, he remembers All Might and their argument. He feels guilty that perhaps looking into All Might‘s future sealed his fate. Gran Torino tells him he‘s overthinking, but since then he promised never to look into another person‘s future again. As he fights Overhaul, he swears to find the best possible outcome.

Midoriya checks in on Mirio and Eri and tries to make an exit path. Eri apologizes to them.

Fate‘s Judgment

At the same time, Sir Nighteye gets caught by Overhaul‘s attack. He pleads for a future where Eri and everyone else can return home safe. The last thing he predicts is Midoriya‘s face as blood slowly obscures his eyes.

Midoriya sees it and retaliates using Full Cowl at 20%. He swears to go against fate and attacks Overhaul. He knows Overhaul will never give up Eri even in death. Overhaul dodges his Manchester Smash and counters.

A bleeding Lemillion staggers to lead Eri to safety even after watching Nighteye get hurt. He falls and struggles to stand up, so he tells Eri to go upstairs to find the others. Eri stares at him shocked.

Midoriya suffers from spikes to his arm and leg. Overhaul gets annoyed at their persistence and uses Nemoto‘s quirk to yell at Eri. She confesses she doesn‘t want anyone to get hurt any further and promises to come back if Overhaul returns everyone to normal.

Sir Nighteye reveals he saw a future where they failed to save Eri, but Midoriya defies it and promises to rescue her. Suddenly, the ceiling caves in to reveal Ryukyu fighting against the brutish gangster from outside.

Our Thoughts

A lot of great themes revolving fate and cycles of abuse get explored in this arc, and I‘m surprised how well they‘ve paced it. Rating: 4.5/5.

Grisha watched as Kruger‘s Titan destroys the Marleyan soldiers along with their ships. Kruger freed Grisha from his bonds and introduced himself as Eren Kruger.

Grisha wondered why he‘s the only one left alive as a human, when Dina was better suited for her royal blood. He asked Kruger why he held off for so long, but the man knelt to the ground in heavy breaths.

He has turned many Eldians into Titans before but trusts that it was for the sake of Eldia itself. Kruger explained that the injustice Grisha witnessed during his childhood was one of the factors for him to be chosen, as he was the same way as a child.

Kruger‘s father was part of another revolution, but they were burned alive by the Marleyans as he watched. Since then, he sought the restoration of Eldia, but all he did was turn others into Titans to keep his façade as the Owl. Kruger gave Grisha the crucial task of infiltrating the walls and retaking the Founding Titan by inheriting Kruger‘s powers. Kruger received his powers 13 years ago, which means he‘s about to die soon. This is called the “Curse of Ymir,” mimicking the number of years Ymir lived after her powers awakened.

If the power isn‘t passed on when a Titan user dies, it gets inherited by a baby who‘s a subject of Ymir. One of the inheritors mentioned seeing the many paths that connect all Eldians, and the path converges into one coordinate — the Founding Titan.

Freedom

Grisha hesitated if he could do it. Kruger urged him to stand and fight to restore the dignity and freedom of Eldia. He handed Grisha a photograph of his family, but Grisha still felt the weight of his sins.

Kruger reminded Grisha that he had the courage to go outside the walls when he was young. Due to their respective sins, they must move forward. He explained that the Titan he‘ll inherit had always pushed for freedom in whatever era it existed. It fought for the sake of freedom, and its name is The Attack Titan.

Historia read the letter from Ymir brought by Reiner. As she touches the letter, memories of Ymir‘s fate flooded into Historia‘s mind. Levi, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin enter the room, and she thanks them for their success.

They soon proceed to convene with the military leaders to discuss the contents of Grisha Jaeger‘s books. Hage testifies that although they lost Commander Erwin, they were able to retake Wall Maria and stole the Colossal Titan‘s powers. However, humanity inside the walls still remains in danger. She explains what she learned from the outside world and the Subjects of Ymir.

The Memories

Kruger explained that the King of the Walls will not be their ally due to their pacifist stance. In addition, they altered everyone‘s memories and told them that humanity has perished beyond the walls. Kruger aimed to strip them of the Titan powers as they aren‘t meant to be king.

Kruger and Grisha succeeded in their goal, and it was passed down to Eren. They also learned that the Founding Titan instilled the same pacifistic view to the next of royal blood who wields it. However, Eren used it once to command regular Titans. Perhaps they can find how to do that as well. He remembers that it only happened after getting in touch with Dina Fritz‘ Titan. He keeps it a secret, fearing for Historia‘s fate.

Before turning him, Kruger told Grisha to build a new family inside the walls so that the past is not repeated. It‘s the only way for them to save Mikasa and Armin. Grisha asks who they are, but Kruger can‘t recall as to whom those memories came from.

Our Thoughts

This exposition feels like drinking out of a hose, but the build-up and mystery leading up to it makes it so satisfying. Rating: 4/5.

In a flashback, Overhaul finds that his latest version of the serum has more permanent effects as it effectively preserves Eri‘s cells. Still, it took them months to produce five bullets due to their rough equipment. Now that All For One is missing, it‘s time for them to strike.

Himiko and Twice introduce themselves to the Shie Haissaikai, but their true feelings emerge. Overhaul apologizes for having killed Magne and tells them to assist with their plan. He asks for their respective quirks, but they refuse. A member named Shin Nemoto uses his quirk: Confession to get it out of them. Twice can make copies of other people after using careful measurements, while Himiko can transform into other people after ingesting their blood.

Nemoto then asks if Shigaraki has intentions of betraying them, which they both deny. Overhaul accepts them and puts them underground until they gain his trust.

Back in the present, the two League members mock Mimic and the Yakuza, causing him to go angry and transform the whole underground network. Twice and Himiko are at their limits, so they mess things up and hope the heroes will fix things for them.

Midoriya tries to locate the source of Mimic‘s voice as the ground above them starts to break. After one of the gangster‘s raging screams, Midoriya reveals his location by smashing through the wall. Eraserhead follows up with his quirk. Mimic gets caught.

Eri‘s Rescue

Mirio finally catches up with Overhaul‘s group. He tries moving for Eri but suddenly feels drunk. A villain named Sakaki arrives from above with a bottle of sake and mocks him. He dodges a gunshot as Nemoto appears and asks for his quirk.

Nemoto makes Mirio admit that he turned a blind eye to Eri‘s situation. Mirio starts to waver as the villain accuses him of only coming to cleanse his guilt..

The two villains shoot at him with guns and throwing knives, but Mirio uses his special move: Phantom Menace to strike at them both. He admits to having been weak back then. In fact, it was Eri‘s actions that got them to safety. She went back to Overhaul‘s hell to save them. Now he has come to get her.

Lemillion goes for Overhaul. The villain dodges but Chronostasis gets the boot, causing Eri to fall into the hero‘s hands. Eri warns him of the danger, but Lemillion swears to become her hero.

Overhaul admits he isn’t Eri‘s father and creates spikes on the ground. He isn‘t afraid of damaging Eri as he can restore her immediately. In fact, she had already experienced it before.

Her Hero

Lemillion uses his cape to dodge Chronostasis‘ shots and disappears underground for a strike. Eri watches back with his cape as the hero courageously fights both villains. He manages to hit Overhaul in the face to declare his win.

Overhaul, once named Kai Chisaki, remembers his father telling him that their status is going lower. He has plans to reform their group, but the boss doesn‘t approve of his inhumane path.

Nemoto yells at his boss that he still can help, so Overhaul hands him the quirk-erasing bullets. He aims but is left hesitant because the hero can permeate. He then remembers Eri and fires at her.

Lemillion changes course, thinking about Eri‘s situation, where nobody would save her. He remembers his promise to never make her feel sad again. Eri sees Lemillion take the bullet with a smile.

Mirio remembers his father telling him that their quirk is hard to master. Still, he‘s determined to become a hero.

Overhaul laughs at the irony after seeing Mirio suffer the quirk of the girl he‘s trying to save. Still, Lemillion continues to fight hand-to-hand.

Our Thoughts

Lemillion is such a worthy successor, and his heroic presence is only second to All Might. Sorry, Midoriya fans. Rating: 4.2/5.

As young Grisha and Fay stepped out of the Liberio Internment Zone, they found everyone giving them threatening looks and pushing them around. Still, Grisha persevered until they reach the airship‘s hangar on a nearby field.

Two safety officers found them outside where they shouldn‘t be and made them choose between labor or beating as punishment. Grisha picked beating and volunteered to receive her sister‘s punishment since it was his idea.

The cop immediately beat Grisha while the other takes Fay. After the beating, the officer told Grisha to enjoy the view as it was what he came for. The next morning, they found Fay dead by the river. Even though they were the victims, the safety officer scolded Grisha‘s parents for the death of their daughter. Hearing such as a young child made Grisha hate the man with all his heart.

Eldian children learned at a young age that two millennia ago, their ancestor Ymir Fritz made a contract with the devil to obtain the power of the Titans. Upon her death, Ymir’s spirit split into nine Titans, which the Eldian Empire used to defeat the great nation of Marley. Thus began the dark ages as subjects of Ymir oppressed the world‘s races. That was until the great nation of Marley brought seven of the nine Titans under their control to put an end to the oppressive empire.

The Eldian King left with his people and built three walls on Paradis Island as their refuge, while many other Eldians, including Grisha‘s ancestors were left inside Marley. Grisha watched with empty eyes as his father lectured him about their history, pleading that he and her sister had nothing to do with it. His father couldn‘t do anything as the alternative would be worse.

The Owl

Grisha grew up in obedience and learned the doctor‘s profession until he joined a Restorationist Movement among the Eldians, guided by an insider from the Marleyan Government called the Owl. The Owl led Dina Fritz, a descendant of Eldian royalty, to their group. She provided them with information that only her family knew. They learned that the Eldians were defeated when the last king turned away from the conflict and built his settlement on Paradis.

Grisha roused his men to retrieve the Founding Titan then and defeat Marley. Grisha married Dina soon after, and they had a son named Zeke.

A day came when the Marleyan Government recruited Eldian children for their Titan program to continue using Ymir‘s Seven to keep up with global powers. But Marley isn‘t keen on attacking Paradis head-on as the first king threatens to retaliate with an attack of millions of Titans from inside the walls.

Now the Restorationists have the same goals as the Marleyans: to infiltrate Paradis and take the Founding Titan‘s power for their own. Grisha concocts a plan to get Zeke into the program, and he indoctrinates him on their plans. It backfires as Zeke turns them in to the police to protect himself and his grandparents.

Kruger

Grisha is sentenced to wander Paradis as a pure Titan along with the other Restorationists. In a twist of fate, Kruger, who punished him as a child, and Gross, who took Fay, served as their executioners. Their punishment was to inject them with a serum before pushing them down the walls, turning them into Titans. Grisha watches in horror as Dina turned into a Titan.

Eren wakes up from the nightmare in their containment cells. He recognizes them as his father‘s memories and figures out that Dina was the one who ate his mother.

Grisha is left atop the wall, facing the man who fed his sister to the dogs. Gross decides to drop Grisha while he turns another Restorationist into a Titan to eat him. He‘s about to drop Grisha when Kruger pushed him down instead.

Kruger reveals himself as the Owl and severed his own hand to transform into a Titan, sweeping away the other soldiers below and destroying their ship.

Our Thoughts

Wow, the sequence feels as deep and rich as the three seasons that came before. Rating: 4/5.

Overhaul complains about how his members are more loyal to the boss, even if he‘s the one who respects the boss‘ beliefs more than anyone in the gang. He is joined by Chronostasis, who is carrying Eri as they try to escape. With their finished serum, the Haissaikai will soon rise to prominence. A “drug that heroes fear” will surely attract the underground‘s big bosses. He calls on his “temp squad” — a team of Himiko and Twice from the League of Villains — to cover their backs.

A skinnier-looking Fat Gum tries to wake Kirishima up, but the intern starts mumbling incoherently. He remembers the boy‘s ambition of becoming like Crimson Riot — a hero who protects others.

Suddenly, Rappa wakes up. Fat Gum braces for another fight, but he‘s drained of energy. The villain leads them to a nearby room where they can nurse their wounds. Tengai tells Rappa to enact his duty but gets subsequently knocked down. Rappa can‘t even move his arms. He used to be a prized MMA fighter in the underground who always won. All he wanted was a good fight, and Fat Gum and Kirishima provided that. He tells them to heal themselves for a rematch someday.

Fat Gum tells him he‘ll be arrested soon, but the villain doesn‘t mind. Since they‘re both still alive, it‘s a draw. Fat Gum looks at his intern, who‘s not only acknowledged by him but also the enemy.

Temp Squad Strikes

The wall-transforming villain, Mimic, gets desperate as Midoriya and the pro heroes gain in on them. He shakes the ground up again to disrupt their positions.

Fat Gum learns from Rappa that he joined the gang because he was defeated by Overhaul. The man suddenly showed up in the ring and invited him. He died at their first fight, but he was revived in a second. Overhaul chose to escape because he has plans to be the top Yakuza gang by distributing their prized product.

Rock Lock counters the moving walls by using his quirk to make them stay in place, but it has a limit.

Midoriya tries to smash through the continued attacks of the enemy, forcing him to split them up into separate rooms.

Sir Nighteye tells them to be cautious of the sudden change in strategy. That‘s when Himiko arrives to stab Rock Lock in the back. Midoriya smashes the wall to find him wounded by an impostor. Eraser nullifies Himiko‘s quirk as she continues to attack happily. Aizawa binds her, but she wiggles past them. He worries that the league‘s involvement will make things more dangerous. Midoriya recognizes Himiko‘s transformation as the same one he saw during the license exam.

Wreak Havoc

It was Overhaul‘s choice to have Twice and Himiko work under him for a time as a way to start a good working relationship between the two groups.

Twice then faces Sir Nighteye and the police. He has a copy of Rappa alongside him, but the fake gets instantly knocked down by the hero. Twice runs away but not before his mask gets torn. He worries that it might cause his personality to split again. Thankfully, Himiko arrives and wraps a bandana on his head.

Himiko praises him for coming out despite having their companion killed by the Yakuza. They objected to joining Haissaikai at first after what they went through, but Shigaraki shockingly shows his face to them and expressed his trust that they will do what they can to get their organization ahead.

Twice and Himiko proceeds to tease the gangster Mimic, which causes him to snap. The whole underground facility falls into chaos.

Our Thoughts

These two villains are honestly the best. Rating: 3.8/5.

During his sleep, Armin catches a glimpse of Bertholdt‘s memories. He wakes up on top of the wall to find Sasha in terrible shape. Eren catches up to him and hugs him, glad that he has returned. He asks them what had happened, so Levi tells Eren to explain it to him.

It all comes as a shock to him that only nine of them had survived from the hundred Scouts that came. It has been four hours since the battle, and there hasn‘t been another sighting of any other survivors. Armin asks why he was chosen instead of Erwin. Levi admits it was his choice in the end, although Mikasa and Eren will be punished for insubordination.

Hange agrees that Erwin should have been chosen, but Levi had the last call. The responsibility already lies on Armin to justify that decision along with the weight of losing Erwin. Armin feels the pressure of filling such big shoes, but Levi tells him to do his best and make his friends‘ decision count.

Now that Hange is commander, she orders Eren, Mikasa, and Levi to go and reach the basement once and for all.

Eren and Mikasa feel the nostalgia of venturing back into their old home in a place that is already in ruins. Alongside these are memories of the ill-fated attack on Shiganshina that ruined their lives. Thankfully, the fires from the earlier Colossal attacks did not reach their home. Eren finds the trapdoor leading to the basement, so they clear it of debris and huge rubble.

The Descent

They descend through the staircase. Eren uses the key to unhinge the lock, but it doesn‘t budge. The key isn‘t meant for the door, so Levi kicks it down. The lamp illuminates Dr. Jaeger‘s laboratory and study, filled with books and medicine that look inconspicuous enough to fool Interior Policemen.

They all search the study until Mikasa finds a keyhole hidden in the desk. Eren uses the key, and it unlocks, but finds it empty until Levi notices the false compartment that lies within and pulls it off. Inside is a book with a bottle of oils to protect its pages.

Back in the Military Headquarters, Commander Nile talks about Erwin‘s hunch that there could be humans outside the walls that weren‘t wiped out by Titans. The young Erwin saw within the government‘s history books that their records weren‘t objective enough to conclude the opposite was true, and now the thought haunts them. An officer reports the return of the Scouts, so citizens outside rejoice as they learn that Wall Maria has been retaken.

Grisha‘s Life and Secrets

Back in the basement, Eren finds a picture of Grisha‘s old family using a technology that isn‘t present inside the walls. Grisha‘s book explains that humanity lives outside the walls. He wrote the book to explain all of his experiences.

A young Grisha and his little sister Fay went outside wearing armbands on their sleeves to signify their identity. Their mother reminded them not to go beyond the walls of their village. Grisha promised that they‘ll be back safe as a zeppelin flies above them. They chased the large airship till its view gets blocked by the walls. Fay expressed her wish to ride it someday when they get older.

Seeing her sister‘s love for the airship, Grisha took Fay outside the walls to find where the airship lands. The naïve decision would soon drive his fate and the future of humanity.

The reveals can‘t come any quicker! Rating: 3.8/5.

Amajiki tries to catch up with the others, but he’s too weak from his fight, so he falls unconscious.

Fat Gum and the rest of the heroes continue to traverse through the tunnels. Kirishima worries about his upperclassman, but Gum tells him to trust Suneater. Aizawa suspects that the one who can control the corridors can move through it and spy on them. If ever he shows himself, Eraser Head plans to catch him.

Centipede and Bubble Girl round up the gangsters from upstairs, who tell them that they‘ve been only doing it to avoid Overhaul‘s wrath. Their loyalty is with their boss who has fallen ill. They dislike the villain route that the gang is headed toward. They even suspect Overhaul of exacerbating their boss‘ illness. Still, they don‘t think he could be caught due to his power.

As expected, the enemy goes on to target Eraser Head with a pillar attack. Fat Gum jumps in and receives it instead, which causes him to fall to a lower floor. Unbeknownst to him, Red Riot also tried to help his teacher and got sucked in with him.

Sword and Spear

A powered-up villain attacks them with his massive fists. Fat Gum panics as the enemy breaks through Riot‘s hardening. Fat Gum attacks but a barrier forms on the enemy.

The two aren‘t on the list of quirks from their intel. Cannonball fists and shields are a strong combination.

Kirishima worries that his quirk is breaking, but Fat Gum tells him to go Unbreakable and fight the enemy‘s will. They shouldn‘t give up.

The villain Rappa attacks Fat Gum with a barrage of punches, which burns through his fat. Punching through Tengai’s barrier seems too much. Fat Gum invites Rappa to fight alone, which gets the villain pumped.

Kirishima watches as the hero makes a risky move to protect him. Fat Gum is starting to lose, so Tengai sees the fear in Kirishima’s eyes.

He remembers trying to defend a classmate against bullies once, but he failed because he was weak. His friends mock him for idolizing Crimson Riot. They follow the bullies, but Ashido comes in to fix the situation. His classmates tell him that Ashido is a more suitable hero. After the incident, Kirishima trained harder.

Live Without Regret

One day, he finds Ashido‘s friends being confronted by a gigantic creature. He‘s left paralyzed in fear, but Ashido comes in again and saves them. Kirishima regrets not stepping up for them.

He goes home hating himself until he finds a video of Crimson Riot. The hero explains that he is scared to go into danger. But what‘s more frightening than death is the look on the victim‘s face and the pain of not saving them. Living life without regrets is the way to becoming manly.

Kirishima apologizes to the girls for not helping them and decides to train himself even harder. Ashido tells him later that he shouldn‘t feel bad about it. As soon as he overcomes his fear, Ashido promises to tell everyone how far he has gone from his middle school days.

At the moment, Kirishima musters up the courage to move. Fat Gum‘s body has shrunk due to the damage caused by Rappa‘s blows. But unknown to many, he also has the ability to store the energy he received from impact. Now he has a spear that can shatter any shield.

Rappa challenges him to show it, but Red Riot steps in to receive the enemy‘s blows. He goes unbreakable but gets knocked by Tengai‘s shield. The villains‘ think his move was in vain, but Fat Gum follows up with a barrier-shattering punch that destroys the two enemies.

Our Thoughts

Kirishima is one of my favorite characters, and I‘m glad he got his own feature episode. Rating: 4/5.
