Casual Spring Pieces

My two fashion choices tend to be an overarching selection between (workout clothes, yoga pants, etc) for the very casual days and being dressed up for work or an evening out (dresses, heels, carefully curated accessories, etc). The latter takes considerably more effort than throwing on a pair of Lulu Lemons and a t-shirt while running errands or popping into a workout class. However, this past weekend while my sister and I were exploring Boston, it was the kind of day that warranted something a bit more than the normal workout outfit but something less than professional or evening attire.

Having a collection of casual pieces that are comfortable, easy to wear, and that can be paired with
wrap sweaters, wedges or sun hats! Shift dresses offer a relaxed feel that allow you to be ready for any plans! This Crochet Shift Dress ($50) is one of my favorite pieces - wear it with the Cotton Wrap Sweater, Metallic Wedges and Stripe Scarf, for put together, casual style!

When I first saw this dress, I knew it would be the perfect transition into Spring piece

that I could wear it with a lot of different bags. I had my eye on the

Rebecca Minkoff Leo Envelope Clutch and the

navy paired with the pale coral is a classic combination. I also love adding

statement jewelry pieces to dresses with high necklines. It adds a focal point

without taking away from the geometric pattern of the dress.

Leslie is graduating from College in May, and this is a definite option as we are

going to brunch and out to dinner to celebrate. I also have a couple of weddings to

attend this summer and this is a flirty, feminine option. I would pair it with a fun pair

of heels to dress it up. The best part of this dress, is that it is extremely comfortable

and at $128, it is a versatile option that can be dressed up or down!

I planned this photoshoot with Lorna a week in advance, and when the day

finally came, it was beautiful, however the clouds kept shifting - the sun

would peekaboo behind the clouds and then come back out at full strength.

I didn't want to include sunglasses as I thought it would make the outfit too

casual for the feel I was going for, however, looking through these photos,

it is definitely evident that I was squinting every time the sun came out!

In true Boston fashion, it was also extremely windy and it's hard to have

picture perfect hair when it's blowing everywhere and sticking to my lipgloss!

Anti-Aging Skincare Routine

Ask any skincare professional and they will tell you it is never too

early to start thinking about protection, prevention and overall care of your skin.

For a while now, my focus has been protection from the sun.

I am embarrassed to admit I have used a tanning bed, not worn enough

sunscreen (it as high school and college, sorry!) but now, I am all about protecting

my skin from the sun. I love using Tan Towels and have mastered the art of natural bronzer.

However, I have also started focusing on prevention. Anti-aging to be exact. My favorite

anti-aging skin care is from Trish McEvoy and BeautyCounter, along with most of their skincare and makeup products. (Darphin is amazing, but pretty pricy!)

I am starting with baby steps - beginning with my under eye area using:

Beauty Boost Eye Serum + Beauty Booster Advanced Repair Retinol Eye Cream.

Next is the Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Serum (this is for all over the face) and helps stimulate natural collagen production (anti-aging). I follow this with both BeautyCounter Lustro Face Oil to add mega moisture and the Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster SPF 30 moisturizer.

Last (but definitely not least since I always need this) is the

Laura Mercier Lip Balm with vitamins a, c and e and SPF 15!

At this time, my skin is prepped and ready for make-up to be applied

and at the end of the day, I use a gentle Makeup Remover and everyday face cleanser!

White + Navy | Navy + White

I am all about Navy and White. I find navy to be the most flattering color (I wear it a lot) as it isn't as harsh as black and can be paired with almost any color. (Yellow, Blush, Green, Orange, Mint...you name it!) In my wardrobe, about 80% of the pieces are navy. So when I put this outfit together, and walked out of the house, I almost rolled my eyes because yet again, I was wearing navy! I just can't help it as I find it is slimming and preppy - two things that are important!

An outfit like this, white jeans (on sale), cute navy top, espadrille wedges, a functional bag and a

fabulous pair of statement earrings (also on sale), is easy to wear while walking around the city,
at lunch with your girlfriends, an evening at the movies or even just running errands.
I love that it is so versatile and the top can be switched out if you wanted to incorporate a little bit more color! I can definitely see myself wearing this outfit for a weekend trip on Nantucket or to grab a cup of coffee at Cafe Zume's down on main street in my new neighborhood.

Floral Basketweave Pencil Skirt

When I first saw this skirt (it's on sale!) - I was drawn to the floral pattern and bright colors.

When I tried it on, it added such a flirty and fun dimension that could be dressed up

for a more dressy, professional look or dressed down for a casual dinner out. Lorna Stell

and I did this photo shoot at the same time as my fruit smoothie photoshoot, so of course I

wanted to incorporate the bright pink of my smoothie into a couple of these images!

I also recently learned how to curl my hair - I use my straightener and it actually

just happened by accident! I like the messy kind of curls, and it works out

because that's the outcome that results!

Morning Routine {Fruit Smoothie}

I'll admit, i'm not a morning person, which also includes

that I am not a big fan of breakfast. I love every other meal,

but just can't get into breakfast. Recently, however, I have been waking

up early to attend a work out class and delicious smoothie has become my new

breakfast routine and it is amazing how healthy and refreshed I feel after drinking a

combination of coconut water, fresh strawberries, raspberries and pineapple!

I like a bit of a tangy taste and berries are my absolute favorite fruit!

I use coconut water (it's delicious!) and really

gives me the hydration I lack from not drinking straight water.

I also like to use more raspberries than strawberries or pineapple, and it gives

the smoothie a bit of a tart taste! Some mornings, i'll even add chia seeds to add a bit of

fiber and protein and help aid in exercise performance!

Hunter Boots + Spring Barbour Jacket

Walking Kingsley has become a daily routine, a meditation of sorts. Every day

I put on my boots and jacket (and until recently my scarf and gloves)

and Kingsley and I explore our new neighborhood. One of our favorite

things to do is to walk down to Whole Foods and pick up flowers and lunch.

It feels great to be able to wear a lighter quilted jacket and since I love accessories,

a fun pair of earrings and necklace can never hurt. I received my Hunter boots (in navy of course)

as a Christmas present and I am so excited to start utilizing them with the impending

spring weather. I'm also elated to wear my Warby Parker glasses.

(fun fact - I am blind as a bat without contacts/glasses) so it's always fun to

be able to wear an affordable pair of glasses while also supporting a great cause.

There is a Warby Parker store on Newbury Street in Boston and after riding the tiny elevator to

the second floor, you emerge into a room that looks almost like a candy shop, lined wall to

wall with different styles of glasses. I loved it! A huge thank you to Lorna Stell, my photographer

for her patience and understanding while incorporating Kingsley into our day! He loves to be

included in our photo sessions, especially since he loves to explore!

I am so excited (now that the nerves and anxiety have passed) to share my

first "street style" photo shoot with you! Last week, after what feels like

months of planning and getting the nerve to put myself out there and actually

take pictures with a professional photographer (Lorna Stell, you are awesome!), I got all dressed

up in my favorite outfit and walked around Charlestown in Boston what felt like the coldest day

of the season! I wore my Milly Zebra Jacket (it's been one of my favorite pieces since college)

and paired it with two handbags to create two different looks. The first was my new

Kate Spade pale pink satchel and the second was my Rebecca Minkoff Amorous Satchel (onsale!)

I couldn't decide what bag I liked best, so I decided to incorporate both - and they both

finish the look quite nicely! I am so excited I was able to make this a reality, since it's

been something i've been wanting to do for a while now and I can't wait for the next one!

Caring for Cashmere

Winter is still in full effect here in Boston, and as I am typing this -

snow is currently falling, creating a new layer of freshly fallen snow.

Inside, we are all trying to stay warm, bundled with blankets and cozy clothes!

One of my favorite materials during the winter is cashmere - and while

I have quite a few pieces, they are extremely difficult to wash. For a while,

I brought my cashmere pieces to the dry cleaners -

supposedly this is one of the worst things for your cashmere.

J. Crew has the most amazing delicate wash for both cashmere as well as fine silks.

Instead of sending these to the dry cleaners, these washes (and spray) help extend

the life of your cashmere and silks and make them feel and smell wonderful!

Diane Kruger's Lilac Shift Dress

I saw this article on DailyMail a couple of days ago and absolutely fell in love with
Diane Kruger's lilac dress she wore to the Golden Globes...
She looks amazing and being that purple is my favorite color (along with navy),
I sought out to find a dress similar to Diane's.

I happened upon the exact same dress designed by Marni and while it is out of my budget,

I absolutely love the color combination of the dress! The clutch and shoes I featured below are more affordable, but thought I would share the dress regardless! I found it very interesting that

lilac is not a color that is used very often in fashion (or at least the spring styles aren't out yet!).

I would love to find a dress that is similar in color and style!

Farmhouse Kitchen and Dining Room

I am so very excited, last week we finished the Farmhouse Project

we have been working on for the past year! It is part of

Peckett's on Sugar Hill, a historical landmark in Sugar Hill, NH that is

the location of the First Ski School in America. This farmhouse was created

as a diary farm (complete with silos and vintage milk delivery truck) and has been

transformed into a vacation rental. Since the space is pretty expansive, we opted for

a large granite island with Serena and Lily Riviera Backless Stools. They have been a

favorite of mine for a while now, and it was so exciting to open the box. The color is a

beautiful blue, intertwined with white - they are crisp, clean and i'm now thinking of ways

to incorporate a set into my own apartment! Since the kitchen is so large, we decided to add

brass lighting fixtures and brass hardware on the cabinets.

Especially with the historic brick chimney, the brass hues felt like the best option. We

used an aged brass to keep the integrity of the home (it was built in the early 1900's!)

but also wanted to have an updated feel to the home.

The dining area is to the right of the kitchen, allowing for a real, eat in kitchen.

We had an antique dining table from the Peckett's on Sugar Hill Historic Inn.

We decided to use these chairs around the table due to the fact that we are a

family friendly vacation rental spot. The banquette is a custom built piece

that looks out of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains

(daytime pictures to come!) The wood hutch is also the perfect location for

wine glasses (these are my FAVORITE) and add a fun, open air dynamic to the space.

Soul Cycle + Winter Workout Picks

I'm a little late to the game, but having just moved to Boston, this past weekend, Leslie and I tried our first Soul Cycle Class! While I had taken a couple of spinning classes before, nothing was as exhilarating or intense as this 45 minute workout! The music was loud, the class was dark and the energy was contagious. During the class, the instructor told us to "set an intention for the class" and while I would love to say mine was to set my resistance to the highest number and do the fancy pushups and twists, honestly, mine became just to finish the class! It was tough, but a good way to push myself and I will be going back!

Soul Cycle is in only a select number of cities, but I wanted to share my winter workout picks for anyone taking part in a workout! After Soul Cycle yesterday, walking outside into the winter air was quite a shock and I immediately knew I had to step up my winter weather workout wear with pants, outerwear and many layers!
