Creative & Natural Ways to Look Stunning

As we're headed into the Holiday Season (I base the Holiday Season every year as starting when Starbucks comes out with their Pumpkin Spice Latte) we all need to save a little dough for Christmas presents. "But how do we stay beautiful, Stephanie?!?" you might ask. Well ladies, don't fret, I've compiled some little beauty secrets that you may have heard of and forgotten, or a few that are new.

Microdermabrasion
Oh the glow of serious exfoliation! I love microdermabrasion, but it's pretty spendy. Even the at-home versions can put a dent in your coveted "shoe fund". No no no.... Baking Soda. Yep, this wonder product (well, my personal wonder product just happens to be Vaseline, remember?) has the same fine texture as microdermabrasion crystals. I put a pinch in my palm and rub over a damp face. Sometimes, I'll mix it in with my cleanser for a softer exfoliation. Gorgeous.

Deodorent
So you're at the club, drinking a Michelob Ultra, and dancing to Kanye West (just kidding, I would never talk to you again if you did either of those things) when you realize your lady pits are a bit gamey. What is a girl to do? Head to the bar, ask the bartender for a few slices of lemon, (don't forget to say thank you with a wink) and jam to the ladies room. Squirt the lemon juice on your armpits then rub the lemon on the skin. The acid in the lemon will kill the smelly bacteria and you are back on the dance floor!

Hydrating Facial
In Southern California, the Santa Ana winds are a definite skin KILLER. (don't even get me started on what it does to my hair, ugh.) Being a Mid-West girl myself, I know the dry winter months will also wreak havoc on your pretty poser. So to keep some moisture in your skin, mix some honey and tumeric (just a pinch please) slather on your face for 15 minutes and finish your last chapter of Twilight. Hint: She becomes a Vampire. After about 15 minutes, rinse it off and put on some fabulous moisturizer. Don't you look smart!

Acne
Two words for you: Dial Soap. This is one of my most cherished beauty secrets and every beauty and skin expert would love to hang me for saying it. I get acne, but not from oily skin, from hormones, and Dial Soap is the only thing that keeps me clear. Remember: soap stays on your skin for just a few moments, but moisturizer stays on all day. So spend your money on an amazing moisturizer and let the hardworking Dial do it's jobby!

Teeth Whitening
You need to be ready for all of the holiday pictures, so a white smile is a must. Hydrogen Peroxide is a natural debriding agent (that means it removes plaque) and is an oral cleanser. I learned this special trick from my mom: every morning just rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide, spit and immediately brush your teeth. Do not rinse your mouth before brushing your teeth, the extra oxygen bubbles will help in the cleaning. Sparkle, sparkle!

All Over Radiance
To get that full body glow, Apple Cider Vinegar is the key to everlasting beauty. A tablespoon or so in your water 2-3 times a day will do some amazing things to your body. For one, it's known as an appetite suppressant, woo hoo! and is used a lot to aid in whatever kooky diet you are trying right now. Because of ACV's acidic properties, it aids in helping the body become less alkaline which means that digestion will be better, skin will be clearer and hair will be shinier. Side story: I started to put it in Ducky's water as a natural flea repellent and also started taking it myself. I used to get eaten alive at night by the mosquitos as we slept and after about a week of drinking the stuff, Ducky nor I were getting bit anymore! Steve won't drink the stuff, so he's being preyed upon by the little suckers... sorry babe. The ACV must be organic, not clear, so get it from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.

Well, hopefully that frees up some moola for Christmas presents... or that really amazing Badgley Mischka clutch you were looking at, yay holidays!

We all have those little pieces in our wardrobe that just make us smile when we wear them. For me, it's a little copper wound ring with three little blue pearls in the middle. It looks like a nest with robin's eggs in it. It's just too cute.
