I  suck, i suck,i suck!!Yes i know i suck at this blog thing.Since, i got  back from Lagos, i have not been feeling very blogg-ish!Plus, i have  been busy restocking the Chic Therapy Accessories Store(Most of the merchandise sold out in Lagos).

So  how is everyone doing? Hope 2012 been good so far,any resolutions?As for  me,as always;my resolution is to shed some weight by eating healthy  and exercising. Usually,this resolution lasts for about two hours. This year i am hoping to at least make it till the end of January -lol *now posting a J  Hud picture over my bed*. My second resolution is to move out of this dead boring city i live in.I desperately need a change.

Old/New Fuschia Skirt

Hi, it is your girl Chic Therapy, reporting from the extremely sunny and humid city of Lagos,Nigeria.One of the good things about being home is that i get to rummage through my mom's old stuff.I was searching for treasures the other day when i found this fuchsia pink skirt. Coincidentally,I have been on the prowl for a pink pencil skirt so you can imagine my delight when I found this. It is not exactly pencil, but it definitely is close to what I had in mind. Anyway, I was going out the other day and decided to pair my new found skirt with this aquamarine dress (yup!it is a dress) I got from Marshalls...

Cobalt Blue Fête

Last week I went on a mission to find brightly colored denim and at the end of the day, i had neon pink(which i think i am taking back),red, burgundy and cobalt blue.While shopping for the colored skinnies, i found this gorgeous top(pictured below)at Tj Max.I love, love,LOVE it!It kinda reminds me of a buba from a traditional Yorùbá iro & buba set.
Anyway, yesterday i was going out and i decided to put my cobalt blue jeans and 'buba' top to work.

I promise, i am not always on the phone.This was my friend telling me she was on her way to get me :-)

Remember my navy blue blazer(see here),I found the black at Tj Max the other day.#winning!

Big Black Furry Creature

I have always wanted a faux fur vest and i was lucky to find one at Filenes Basement this past Saturday. I was so excited about the vest that i wore it out the very next day. The weather was perfect for the outfit and the vest provided the right amount of warmth.

When it comes to Halloween, i always recycle from my closet (see last year costume here). Been the frugal person that i am, i dressed up as a school girl because i had everything i needed already. I was suppose to have pig tails but i did not have time to do them before hitting the Halloween party i attended.

There were lots of interesting character from the night. There was flavor flav, Flo from progressive, Sookie of True blood, Mario and some other redonculous costumes.In all, it was a great night and i had fun.

Newark,New Jersey:I am wearing a custom made aso ebi skirt & blouse for a traditional wedding.

Aso Ebi("cloth for family"):In some parts of Nigeria, friends & family of the celebrants choose a fabric to wear.This usually is done to show solidarity.My friend got married last weekend and this is the aso ebi we wore.(See definition of aso-ebi here)

Miss T was gracious enough to let me share her pic.I love her aso-ebi style.

Randolph,New Jersey: Same wedding as above but this is what i wore to the wedding ceremony & reception.

The skirt was made in Nigeria and the top here in the States.

I am delighted to be posting the first ever male guest feature on Chic Therapy. Today's featured blogger is none other than my extremely funny and crazy friend ****(lets call him Asterix).Asterix is a good friend and we have had some insane adventures both in Nigeria & London.

Anyway, Asterix decided to ~~copy me and~~ start his own fashion/Lifestyle blog, The White List.In his own words his blog is about "Chronicling some of my favourite things and everything in between". Asterix is one stylish guy and i am pleased he is sharing his style with us.

Why did you start a blog?

I started blogging without a ‘real reason’ really… I guess I could say I started mostly for fun and to kinda show off stuff I like – I do take a slight diversion from time to time though.

What is your blog about?

My blog is filled with photos of things that I like, photos that I’ve taken and I want to share and personal style posts. I’m inspired by photography so my blog has more photographs than it has words but they do say photos are worth a thousand words…(cheesy but you get the gist).

What is your style?

Eclectic. Lazy answer, I know… Haha! I don’t really have any style I like or dislike. I go from grungy to preppy and everything in between. I like to stand out so I tend to look for stuff that’s different– weird t-shirts, strangely cut jeans… you get my drift.

What one item can you not do without?

My watch(es). Bit of a cheat here but I love LOVE watches. Style and function rolled in one.

What is your favourite item right now?

My (full-length) onesie! Its so comfy (and I definitely love comfy)!

I'd just bought a navy blue blazer when I came across a picture of Kate Middleton in blazer with a similar cut.I liked her ensemble,so i thought i'd swagger jack and steal the look from her.She had on black wedges but i thought i'd add a pop of color with my flats.

The Thrifted Mustard Yellow Skirt

I got this skirt early in the summer from a thrift/consignment store.I was attracted to the mustard yellow color and the design on it.I have no doubt that this skirt was made by an African tailor. The seam, elastic band and the round details, is reminiscence of a Nigerian tailor's work.The fabric used is brocade, and this was very popular in making similar styles in the early 90's. I am also guessing this skirt was part of a 'skirt & blouse' set.I could have sworn my Mom's tailor, Brother Rasak(from back in the days) made this.:-)

Anyway weather was great yesterday and i decided to give this skirt a try.Though not loving the ensemble,still thought i'd share with you guys.

Dunno what my hand was doing up there! lol

Third World Profashional

I have been reading the very fab blog, Third World Profashional for a while now and i knew sooner or later i'd have to ask her to feature on Chic Therapy. Witty and gorgeous Daks is the brain behind this blog and I love her blog because she she keeps it real, 100 percent of the time. This is what Daks had to say about her style.

Third World Profashional Says:

"My personal style is very glamorous, very stylish but a good mix of over the top and understated. I don't have a particular aesthetic I constantly cater to, I love fashion and I love to experiment so I flirt my way through the different decade dictated fashions. My only weakness however is probably being a little too enamoured with "trend pieces", but I look at it as being young and wanting to try everything. By the time I get a bit older, I'll definitely have discovered my "look" and settled into what works for me. The only things I definitely abhor are androgynous and bohemian looks, I don't understand why any girl would want to look like a boy or a homeless person. I see it works for some people but its certainly not my thing.

I draw inspiration from so many places, street style, celebrities, bloggers (including your fabulous self), in the end however the deciding factor is always whether I absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. Personalities who have and continue to inspire me style-wise are Jackie Onassis, Audrey Hepburn, Marisa Berenson, Anna Dello Russo, Bianca Jagger, Victoria Beckham....and so many others. My dynamic sense of style can be seen in the very different people I draw inspiration from, each one of these women i mentioned have different ways they express themselves with fashion and I vacillate between all of them. Currently I'm really impressed by Kourtney Kardashian, I'm still surprised by the fact that a reality star could be someone I would consider fashion wise but she pulls her looks together extremely well.

Hopefully someday my experimental phase will pass and I'll find my own personal niche, till then I'm having an absolute ball trying everything."
