I have been busy and trying products and just life has been keeping me busy but I want to say that I am going to start back mixing - I am just not happy that some of my staples are not available when I want them and so that is where I am right now. I am learning some new techniques and having a lot of fun with my hair. I am also getting into couponing. Updated Revlon Experience

So, when I contacted the company they said they would send me an email but I don't think I got or it went to my junk-mail. Which lead to the earlier post. But, I ended up receiving a letter from the Senior Cumer Information Rep and she said:

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick

I can't give a great review on this product because it does not go but I don't know if it is any of the shade or just this one. It is 215 Totally Toffee and I have two-toned lips so I am not sure if it's the product or lipstick but it is just two light for my lips and I like the packaging and it feels good on my lips but it does not stay for very long and it was just ok - I do feel the need to top off with a lipgloss and I am just as happy with a nice tinted lipgloss. So, this is ok - for right now I would give this it a 3.5 out of 5. I think i will go for lipglosses from now on and I think this could work with a good lipliner. It was just not that sensational to me but I think it has more to do with the color and that I am not a big lipstick person. I will probably not try other colors. This was the color on the model and so I thought it would work but no, not really. I will not be repurchasing!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Oily/Combo Skin

I don't have oily skin but color matches me and the same color in normal to dry skin does not match me. This works good if you blend out really well but it is not full coverage. You still need a concealer and it is compared to MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation and I think they are comparable but you get medium coverage with Revlon and full coverage with MAC - I still need a concealer and I have not found a great concealer other than MAC Studio Fix Concealer. After I have purchased the concealer and Revlon foundation I have paid the same price that I would have paid for the MAC foundation. Plus, I use less of the MAC so it is less effort and better covearge and it is easier to blend out. I am finding I am getting a little breakout from the Colorstay but it could just be my brushes - I clean but not everyday and I might have to start doing that. Also, I am a little salty with the service of Revlon so I am not uspet about not using this company any longer. I hear they have a good liquid liner by Colorstay but I don't care. I give it a 3 out of 5. I will not repurchase.

Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow

This is kind of a hit or miss product - first what caught my eye was is was on sale for 3.50 @ Walgreens so I said what the heck 50% off and I thought I had seen good reviews on YouTube. The Silver Fox Quad was horrrible! You had to pack on the color and when you tried to blend out it disappeared. I bought it for the teal color and it was a big mistake. The Priceless Metals had maroon, brown and gold and silver - which you have to be careful with blending but I could use it and it also works as a blush. Ths silver in this pallette can be used as nothing else but a tear duct color because it does not blend out, the gold is a highlight on brow bone or or undereye and is very shimmery, the brown is a nice blending color between lid and highlight colors and the maroon works as a lid and blush. I want to use up this pallette so that is why I am doing the double duty with them and I know the colors work together. You just have to be very careful with these pallettes they are not very forgiving when you blend. I give the Silver Fox a 1 out of 5 and the Priceless Metals a 2.5 out of 5. I bought at Walgreens and they do not let you return if you use and I emailed Revlon which I have yet to get a response but that is making me not want to purchase from them any longer. I think you should skip this producte even on sale and I would not repurchase. I have seen reviews for less expensive products which much better quality.

Eco Tools by Alicia Silverstone Makeup Case

This nice - you can carry the four brushes that come with case - which are ok if you like the MAC or Sigma stippling brush you will probably like this - I have only purchase a $45 MAC makeup brush kit because as you know one brush from MAC can cost $45 and they shed like crazy - I used them for the price but try out other brushes and have since gotten rid of them. Anyway after you wash it does not get it's shape completely but does not shed. I looked like I had dirt on my face with the MAC brush after using it. You also get a nice blush/powder brush and a concealer/eyeshadow brush - these are nice and soft and none of them shed. They are great brush. The powder brush is nice and tapered and I think is best for highlights, contours and blushes. The smaller brush is angled but a little fluffly and i think is great for eyeshadow and shading but can be used as concealer brush. You also get a eyelash comb and eyebrow brush and it is standard - I needed something quick and I used to have the EcoTools Retractable Kabuki brush which I loved and if I had to make this kit I would have thrown in a foundation painter brush and their Kabuki brush they are better for foundation and removed the stippling brush and eyelash/eyebrow brush. I think the Kabuki would be my top pick but I can work with a foundation brush.
I like that you can separate your brushes from makeup but when I am in a hurry everything goes into the makeup part. I like the color and material in the makeup part because it doesn't get dirt if you don't have time to clean your brushes but the brush side is lighter and does get dirty. It's nice sturdy construction and I don't hate it - I needed a makeup bag and for $15 it was not bad. I give it a 3.5 out of 5. It's not bad but if I would recommend something I would recommend the Kabuki.

P.S. - I went to the website and they have changed the color of the bag so the brush side is green and not a tan color and looks much better for the brushes and color transfer. It looks like they take out the stippling brush and add a mini foundation painter brush and a big fluffly blush brush.

Ok I know I have not been around but I will be cranking out some reviews today because lil' man is finally sleep and I have got a lot accomplished this month when he is sleep and things have died down a lot so here we go! I thought high-end was the way to go but from what I have been reading all the all the productsd have a wide range of ingredients and the drugstore is comparable at times or even better. I love the lipshine - I have tried other similar products that are tacky and come off very quickly but this is smooth, none tacky and reminds me of a nice lip balm but in a gloss. I will definetly purchase this product. The price is right and is high quality and wide availablity. Go out and try this product if you have not already! I love this product it is true to it's claims - these nails stay on much better than the Kiss nails and the held up to my 9 month old, washing hands, dishes and bathing. These are my new go to nails thanks Influenster! They did not come off once and lasted the week until I took them off but I think they could have lasted longer. Hubby loved them! How gullible are you?

So, I was talking to my sister about how people can cope and attitude if they ask you what you used on your hair - you tell them and then they call you up all upset because said product dried their hair out. I don't know what works on your hair I was just telling you what I used. Anyway, we are were also discussing why I don't straighten anymore and not that I care what people think but it can be really flattering when you get compliments on your length but the annoyance comes in when people tell you - how you should wear your hair straight all the time. This is my hair and I have gotten good and rude comments from the same people and I love my curly hair. I mean I get bombarded with stupid comments and suggestions. But, the main reason is the damage and the same day I get it straighten I miss my curls and by the end of the same am over it. My curls and I have a special relacionship.

But, then the conversation went back to products and how all these newly naturals are clueless about styles and products. So, I could not believe so many have no ideal what kinky twists, two-strand twists and protective styling are. When I went natural the natural communities was not what it is now. I mean it is so easy to get imfo which is in itself a two-edged sword, because you have to shift through the people out to prey on the weak and make a quick buck and you have to research and test products.
I was explaining all the info I was giving to a transitioner and my sister said you should tell her if you are going through all that and don't want to research then get your relaxer back. I said people always ask what new products do you use your hair hangs and my sister said you should have told her water. I said water she said yeah I tell people all the time water so that I don't have to go into detail. This got me thinking do you think that everyone out there who has a silky hair texture and are African American are 100% chemical free. I know that there are people out there who have what some coin as good hair or a loose curl pattern but I mean - some might use a texturizer or something similar. People say all I use is this - now I think this is not everyone but weather or not they are using chemicals or not you have to consider if you will every have your hair like that with or without chemicals and if your hair looks differently to deal with and learn to work with your hair.
I am not calling everyone out there decepetive but not everyone out there is honest. I have seen enough girls from the West Indies to know that some just natural have hair that is silkier in texture and if you look at Ivycharilene her father has a really loose curl pattern. Her hair is similar. Some people might not want to disclose or may feel that not relaxed is natural and other chemicals are fair game. Just learn to love your hair and what God gave you!

So, how did I start blogging. Well, I had no ideal what I was doing with my relaxed hair and much less to do with my natural hair. I did not like the relaxed experience at all - the salons the hours of waiting and sitting, the hot dryers and you know the whole experience. So, I used to work at the mall when I was in college and this girl walked by who had kinky twists so I got them. I went to this really bad neighborhood to get it done and it took me hours. She was kind of shady and then I couldn't find her anymore. Therefore, I started doing them myself. I got the product and hair to do them so I knew what to get and since some of them slide out I learned how to reattach them. Well, all the while I stopped relaxing. Meanwhile, I meet my now husband and was straighten my hair with a flatiron and no relaxer. Eventually, after the constant encouragement of others I get a relaxer. So many people can not believe how long my stretched hair is and always comment on how long and pretty my hair is and how much prettier it would be with a relaxer. My hair starts breaking off after a few relaxers.
My then boyfriend and now hubby encourages me to go natural - he sees all of struggles with my hair and I later found out he has a secret love of curly hair. He is surprised by my hair texture and is in love. Now this was after some long transitioning of about a year and I finally wore my first wash and go and it came out pretty good. Since then, I have tried a lot of products and I have made some products - with mixed results.
I had no ideal what I was doing and have been natural for approximately 6 years so the hair community for naturals was not what it is now. I found Black Hair Media and then from there Long Hair Care Forum and then from there Naturally Curly. I don't really go to forums as much anymore - the people have changed and some are not as nice as the veteran curlies and do not welcome free speech and open opinions. I like YouTubes and Blogs because I can more easily shift through the garbage and negativity and can read the comments only if I want to - which can sometimes be negative. I pretty much no what works on my hair - it is trial and error. So many want a quick fix of tell me what to use on my hair and it is just not so - you have to try out stuff - I can't tell you what will work on your hair and don't get made at me if my staples don't work on your hair. A girl got mad at me because she wasted her money on Hello Hydration on my recommendation. Which I had not used in years and she did not want to buy my more expensive recommendations that I was currently using. Now, I hear she has found her staples and makes some of her own stuff. That is just what you have to do and you will waste more money tying out products that people who don't have your hair texture recommend. I think I am going to do some more YouTube series of my favorite YouTubers. I hope you like.

All Natural Ingredients

So, if you talk to different people what natural means to them means completely different things. If you decide that you want all natural hair products because you are chemical free - you consider what you put on your skin, i.e. face creams, cleansers, body washes and makeup. Any change is good because verses putting 100% of harmful ingredients on your skin - using 50% is always better. But, sometimes people forget about these products and when they think about it they may decide to go 100% natural. Some people think that dying your hair is ok if you don't use a relaxer while others feel that you are still using chemical services and therefore are no longer natural. You have to decide for you - always I get a lot of newly naturals/non-relaxed which every way you decide and they want to know what I use. The truth is you have to find what works for you. There have been some reformulations of products I used when I first went natural and they no longer work on my hair. So, even though most people don't want to search and find out what works and want someone to tell them you really have to find out what your hair likes. I am sorry but that is what a lot of people have done and you have to get to know your hair. I can only give you the low down on my hair and I can't tell you what will work on your hair. I use what works and I find that more natural products work on my hair and that is what I need. But, there are gorgeous naturals out there that use drugstore products or a combination of the both. People want to stay in a price range and I have no ideal how there hair reacts to certain ingredients and want recommendations and I can tell them what I like but it might not work on your hair. I am so happy that so many are going natural and it is a fun experience so they have to find what works for them.

EcoStyler Argan Oil

So, initially I was just not impressed with this product but after playing around with it, it really does work. You just need a really good leave-in or moisturizer underneath if not it can be really crunchy and drying. I would give this product a 4 out of 5 and an interesting fact is that hubby is liking it and told me he thinks he likes my gel more than his because he gets a harder hold and his gel does flake on his pillow and I have not noticed this with the EcoStyler. I try to tie my hair up so I don't have the felaking problem at night. I am starting to see that with oil or leave-in that most of the EcoStylers are about the same and they give great hold. They area easy to work with and pretty readily available to most unless you are looking for a specific gel from this line. My Sally's carries three types while they do not carry the pink, they care the brown, olive oil and argan oil. The problem that I have is gels increase my single-strand knots and do make my hair a little more dry. So, I hope this review helps some - I think if you like Eco Styler you should not have a problem I don't think the oils added actually help with moisture but that could be different for so many.

I love a good quality foundation and I have used the Mac Studio Fix Fluid and th comparable Revlon Colorstay Foundation. I like both of these products but if I use the Revlon Colorstay I have to use a good concealer and the one I like is the Mac Studio Fix Concealer after I buy both the Revlon and the Mac Concealer I have paid about the same for the one Mac Studio Fluid so I like that this is an all in one product. Mac told me that drugstore products can start to break you out and I have not heard this happening I think they just want you to buy their products, but I did do a side by side comparison and I got much better coverage with the Mac Fluid. I have seen reviews that the Mac Fluid which is not targeted towards oil free skin has broken some oily skin people out. But, the Revlon has an oil free formula that I personally use not because I have oily skin but I get a better color match. You can also get the pump with the Mac for and extra fee which the Revlon does not come with the pump but you can always just transfer the product. So, if you are looking for an alternative and have a good inexpensive concealer that you like you might want to give the Colorstay a try. Hope this helps some out there looking for a foundation.

Hair Gel

So, something I really want to talk about is hair gel. Now, some naturals avoid this like the plague and others love it to style their hair and have it looking fresh all day. So there are some popular gels out there and one is called Kinky Curly Curling Custard - hence the name many think this is not a gel but believe me it is a gel and an extremely hard hold gel that takes some time to get used to and learn how to use on your hair. It seems to be different for every person. It is quite expensive and has recently went up in price and I personally think it is too expensive to have to work so hard to make it work but there are many curlies who love this product for the look it gives you once you find your niche, can get multiple day hair and love the all natural ingredients. There is a easier product to work with that has similar natural ingredients called Uncle Funky's Curly Magic that is gaining popularity and gives a softer hold.
There is also a comparable less expensive alternative to the two products mentioned above - called Eco Styler and Fantasia IC gels they have a wide range of different hold gels in these product lines they both have clear gel, color treated blue and olive oil versions and I think they both have pink gels. You get more for your money with the Eco Styler and you get great hold with both. Most of the gels mentioned will probably have your hair wet most of the day after application. There are many other like homemade flaxseed gel and aloe vera gel - some of these aloe vera gels like Fruit of the Earth are not all natural and some curlies stay away from that - so that is something to keep in mind.
So, is hair gel bad? I would say no. Now, at the same time I would say that some people can not use certain gels or not use everyday if they are protein sensitive or if they have a problems with thin edges like I do. It is nice for wet sets such as twistouts and roller sets. I think each curly has decide for themselves, but I have seen many curlies that do not use gel and have gorgeous hair and curlies that have gorgeous hair that use gel everyday. When I mean gel I mean the cheaper Eco styler or Fantasia IC - with all gels you should probably use a good leave-in and or moisturizer. I hope this helps some out there!

Toothpaste that is, I have been using the new Pro line and I love it. I have used the Sensitive, Gingivitis Help and now the Whiting. Your teeth feel oh so clean with these toothpastes my favorites are the Gingivitis help and the Whiting, they get your teeth so clean and polished. I also like their new Pro mouthwashes. So, if you are in the market for new toothpaste and/or mouthwash I highly recommend this product.

EOS LemonDrop Lip Balm

I love this stuff and have been wanting to review it for quite some time, but initially I did not like it. I had seen good reviews on YouTube and then my sister was raving about it so I purchased about 2 months ago. I didn't like because I am not the biggest lip balm applier, but for this to work you need to apply more than once a day - I would say 2 to 3 times a day in warmer weather and maybe a little more in colder weather. But, it last a long time because it is pretty dense. Also, for babies who like to put everything in their mouths this is nice because the top will not pop off and get lodged in their throats like traditional lip balm caps if they do figure out how to screw it off - this of course would depend on their age. So, I like that for now it is child-proof and and even when that changes he will not chock on it - maybe eat it but not chock. Now, it has a slight sweet, lemony smell and it maybe even a slight lemony taste. If you have a habit of really packing on the balm you don't have to do this with this product. When I didn't like it, my sister said she likes the others better - the medicated ones but I was not using correctly and have not tried the others but my lips are so moisturized with this product, when I went online I found out this is the only one that has spf 15, plus you look like you are wearing a natural lip gloss - it is a natural lip enhancer. My makeup looked complete after doing my face and eyes and just applying this to my lips. I had a nude lip and I like nude lips - because I have naturally colorful lips and some lip sticks make me look like I have paint on my lips because of the two tones. I love that it is a double duty product - lip balm and lip gloss type product this is for you of and my lips are so soft with this product. Let me know what you think?

Suave Almond & Shea Conditioner

So, I have been eying this product for a while even though ya'll know I do not do Shea Butter. So, I had
went to get the Shea Moisture African Black Soap Purification Masque because I thought it was on sale be it was not at my Walgreens and the other products were not on sale. So, I remembered that I have had success with the Tresseme Naturals and the Suave Naturals Conditioners but of course this caught my eye and even though it was more expensive per ounce I tried the Suave Almond & Shea Conditioner, compared to Suave Conditioners - I did not check Tresseme. So, I tried it twice and I am so glad I did, my hair loves this conditioner, it is a pretty good drugstore product, I give it a 4 out of 5. It moisturizes and detangles nicely, nothing comes close to my CJ Beauticurls Strengthen Conditioner but the price is much better and is great, my hair does not mind the Shea and it does have a water soluble cone. My curls were full and springy with this conditioner in my hair which I loved. My hair still had that curl after I rinsed and it does help get rid of shed hairs in the same way the Beauticuls does, I have been looking for a local alternative and this is really fitting the bill. It reminds me of salon conditioners, kind of thick and smooth, reminds me of the Garnier Frutcis conditioners and creams. It is compared to the Aveda conditioners on the back of the conditioner. This conditioner gets points for detangling and removing shed hairs - something that is very important to me - this comes close to Beauticurls, it is moisturizing but Curls Coconut Dream and Beauticurls does do better it does moisturze so it gets points, it is has nice smell nothing special, and lastly it gets points for making my curls pop - love that! I hope this review helps and let me know if you have tired this. This product is still under review but I might add this to my staples, and it is doing much better on my hair than the Herbal Essences which I have used all up.
