"A Change in Scenery..."

I wanted to take a minute and thank all the visitors that have stopped by and left great comments about my work here in Chicago.

I am posting today to let you know that I have moved, but still here in Chicago. I am going to be changing the format of this site to pictures that I take in and around Chicago.

So, for the time being Chicago Sunsets will be no longer posted on because I don't have the view from this beautiful neighborhood that I now call home.

Thank you again to all the visitors and I am sure that I will hear from you soon.

This was just a day on the balcony that consisted of a nice sunset and some of the things that I saw as I looked around. Enjoy.

This is a departure from O'Hare International Airport. It was pretty low.

Six (6) pink tabletops and a moving cab.

Sweeping clouds

Is it a bull market? A bear market? It doesn't matter when the new Rabbit is just $14,900.. Also I like the one car in the parking lot and the incoming CTA train to the Merchandise Mart station.

"Untouched and Amazed" V.6 Lightning

Last night in Chicago, we had some fireworks that "Mother Nature" lit up the sky with. I snapped around 110 pictures and I ended up with the best of the best. Make sure you check out the last one and leave a comment.

Lighting that lights up the sky.

I love the cloud outline in some of these pictures. You never know when it will strike.

This is at 12:30 CST last night. It looked like daytime. Amazing.

This is a great bolt that touched down not to far away. If you open this picture by clicking on it, you will see what I am talking about.

"No dog day afternoon after all..."

In the last 21 months since coming to Chicago, this is what can happen in an afternoon. In between the clouds and the sun, there was a wicked (that's my Boston coming out) storm and then a sunset that you will see spanned straight West to the coast of Lake Michigan. This picture is of the highrises that line the Lake. These clouds were coming from right to left looking at the picture. Enjoy.

If you open this up, you can see the rain in the distance.

More of a street view here...the definition of the building I live in gives the idea that the clouds are coming from the right.

Then everything changed...

Clouds, exit stage left and the sun disappears about 30 minutes later.

...and out the other side.

After the sun left the skyline, the cloulds turned to blue and here are some amazing colors.

This is the middle of the skyline.

...and to the right

This was unreal and it took a while before it turned dark. The weather turned to 70 and dry and then these colors lasted awhile.

"Untouched and Amazed" V.5

Welcome to "Untouched and Amazed" V.5. This is 21 shots long and it was weeded down from the over 50 shots that I took. I will tell you know, the last picture is amazing and all the pictures are in 1600 X 1200 for a great view. If you want to click on them and see them enlarged, please do. This starts out kinda dull...but hang in their.

Here is when the low clouds formed a line and the rays were coming from behind the clouds.

Kind of a halo effect and it's also when everything changed.

Then this...

I love the cloud formation and the crispness or the upper edge.

This is a favorite, because when you open it -- you can see the city buildings in the distance.

Super shot...from dull to this. It is always like this in Chicago.

Amazing what 15 hours can do...

This is the sunset in Chicago on Wednesday night. You will see in the 2nd half of this entry what it looked like at 8:30-9:30 a.m.Thursday. I was told when I arrived in Chicago in November of 04 that you have the chance to see all 4 seasons in a day. I saw 3 in that time and the only element that I was missing was snow. I took all of the rain pictures in a long sleeve fleece because it was cold temperature wise and the rain was cold as well. Enjoy.

Here come some interesting clouds that were lingering for a while after the sun went down.

Nice colors.

This caught my attention this morning... and what a difference from Wednesday eve...

Monsoon... I mean you couldn't see a city block when this was whipping in.

I'm back...

It was a nice week to be back at home. If I learned anything, don't trust ANY weather forecast. It was supposed to be nice ALL week. Not the case. It was nice on Monday and then it rained and was cloudy for 3 days. The weather was nice for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I took full advantage of it when the weather was nice. I will add, it was HOT as well. When I mean hot, I mean 90 degrees. I celebrated my birthday with my parents with a nice dinner on the water and I was fortunate to snap off some pictures of the harbor and also the sunset. Enjoy.

I took these before I left for Boston and I figured that I would share these "warm" sunset pictures. The weather here should be better tomorrow and I will get some pictures if mother nature is on my side. Enjoy these 3 and have a great day.

It has been 7 months and I am heading home. It is a visit that I am looking forward to. I am bringing my camera and I will try to get some pictures of the Atlantic Ocean and also some sunsets if available. I must use the free ticket before 8/1, so I am headed home for my birthday on the 11th.

"Untouched and Amazed V.4"

This is "Untouched and Amazed V.4", a series that I started in the past year of having this site up. I have taken around 3000 photographs of the sunsets in Chicago. I will say that this started out dull, and amazed me that I had to keep going back to get the camera. Saturday Post & New Renter...

A "hole" lot of sunshine...

This started out as one HUGE cloud with what looked like a very small opening. I was thinking that their was no way that the sunset was ever going to happen. I was wrong. Enjoy!

" A Yellow Glow..."

This was a cool sunset and it developed nicely as it ended. I like the yellow in the clouds on this shot.

This cloud arrangement stayed for just about the entire time, even though the wind was present.

Just a huge glow here...through the lens it reminded me of a sunflower.

"On a hazy afternoon..."

This was a hot and hazy afternoon and the sunset proved it. It was almost like the atmosphere created a matte finish on the pictures automatically. The colors were gorgeous and the clouds were set up just perfectly for this afternoon sunset. This is a set of three because it all taken within 5-8 minutes. Enjoy.

This was a cool looking sky with the clouds whisping from side to side and the straight lines that were present.

Colors here were great after the sun just disappeared. It is so nice to watch these from almost the highest floor in my high-rise. I just resigned my stay here and will be here through the summer and into the fall. So the sunsets will keep on coming. If things change, I will let you know in advance. "Sneak Attack"

This was the sunset that was set up as a "sneak attack." It was sunny during the day, then it cooled down, and then this red ball appeared under the clouds and it looked their was some electricity around the sun. Enjoy.

"Sweet Set..."

First off, I would like to thank everyone for the kind comments and the nice emails that I receive on the pictures that I take in Chicago. I will tell you that I am hesitant to put up just a few, thinking that they won't be that good as the "Untouched and Amazed" series. Well, here goes and I hope that you like these. I did a nice panoramic shot at the end for anyone that wants to add it to you desktop and arrange your icons either above or below. Enjoy.

These are the only clouds that made it in for these shots...

This is the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The colors were amazing in person as well. It was a blue hue and the apartment building in the background had a sharp reflection on it from the sunset.

"Untouched and Amazed" V.3

This is another installment of "Untouched and Amazed" Volume 3. The sky changed so many great colors and I wish that you were here in to see it in person. Enjoy.

This was cool because it looked like smoke from the sun after the set.

Wide view and sky became brighter.

A multi-colored sky.

Then within minutes the sky opened up and the colors were beautiful and breath taking to say the least.

...and a close-up. I was amazed at the colors that were present here. Their were blues, browns, bright reds, and of course the collage of all the colors in the end. I have another sunset that will go up in a few days that is "glowing" to say the least. I hope that you enjoyed the set. "Dramatic..."

What a great weekend in Chicago. I decided to stay here instead of heading home for the long weekend because of some medical reasons. I am glad that I didn't head home because some of the pictures that I took were amazing. Enjoy and please leave a comment, even if is a short one or to tell me that you stole a shot for your wallpaper to your desktop. :)

" Friday Night Lights "

This was a great night and has many different variations. Some of the last pictures are really great to see how they turned out. I also like the clouds and the colors that were reflective from the sun. Enjoy.

"All Seasons" V.1

This was a crazy day. I want to take you through all the seasons here in Chicago. It was cold, it was warm...it hailed (snowed) and it was windy. We also had a fire on the west side due to the weather. Check out the time line and how the day ended up.

Here is the hail that was coming right at me and at one point, I had to go back inside. It was coming at me on the deck, so I took cover.

Looking West and it almost looked like a tornado was coming down the commuter train tracks.

Sun rays coming through...

...and then sunshine. Amazing.

Sunset.

I like this picture the best because if you click on it you will see the highrises that are located in the community to the Northwest of Chicago. I hope that you enjoyed the photos.

Ruby Tuesday

This was from last night here in Chicago. The cloud formation was wild and I love the fact that the sunset was set below that great long cloud that looked like a mountain in the distance.

This was about a 1/2 hour after the sunset. I hope that you enjoyed this set and I think that we might have another one if the thunderstorms hold off. Take care.

Can you touch the rain clouds...??

I know that their hasn't been a post in a while, but the weather has been miserable and not much worth shooting. I have some pictures that I have taken that I will use for fill-ins in the future. This set is kinda cool because directly in front of my balcony were rain clouds that are present in the first few pictures. The sunset was nice because it fell into a cloud that was above the land line. Enjoy and it's nice to be back.

You will see the dark cloud above that stretched for miles to the north.
