HINSDALE — Although styles come and go, the designers at Drapery Connection will not tell their customers what their home décor should be.

“It’s not what we want, it’s what works in the room,” said Carl Movrich, one of the owners of Drapery Connection, which has showrooms in Hinsdale and Highland Park.

The business, which Movrich’s father started in 1939 as a painting and wallpaper store in Chicago, is moving its Hinsdale showroom to 22 E. First St.

The business specializes in window treatments, selling and installing draperies, shades, blinds and shutters, but also has other home decorating products and services as well. Although the showrooms have fabric books and samples of shades and rods, a home visit is a must for the designer.

During the design process- We loved the tone on tone damask currently on the Baker sofa, it’s a classic and with all the other traditional elements in the room, such as the owners beautiful collection of antiques we didn’t want to change the style immensely, so we decided to go with an updated version of the damask with a Candice Olson for Kravet pattern.

The grey pillows are upholstered in a faux mohair from Maxwell fabric and the little red gem we used real mohair from Stroheim Fabrics Wouldn’t a throw in that same fabric look divine!?

The client’s collection of antiques and leggy furniture complement the Candice Olson damask perfectly.

For the face fabric of chairs we used a Candice Olson for Kravet stripe and the faux mohair from Maxwell for the back and side fabric.

I absolutely adore the mix of textures of the mohair fabric and the chair’s structure! Doesn’t the lighter silver color subtly compliment the grey and blue in their oriental rug?

We updated the wet bar area with 2 flat roman shades with Thibaut’s Luxembourg fabric.

A Montgomery couple has filed a federal lawsuit against a Kendall County Sheriff’s Department deputy who pulled a gun on them in an altercation at a Walmart in Oswego.

Jason Thurmond and his wife, Nicole Healy-Thurmond, said they suffered “severe damages including personal injury, loss of reputation, mental anguish [and] emotional distress” in the Feb. 5, 2012, incident in which off-duty Deputy Craig French brandished a gun in the Walmart.

Montgomery couple files federal lawsuit against Kendall, deputy

LAKEVIEW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Police on Wednesday were searching for two dangerous dogs that attacked four people within half an hour in the Nassau County community of Lakeview.

Officers went door-to-door to try to find the vicious dogs, but were not successful, WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall reported.

“There is a possibility they went back to the homeowner and the homeowner is unaware of the incidents that occurred, but that’s why we’re doing a door-to-door search to see if any of the neighbors [know who owns the dogs], or possibly come upon the owners of the dogs, and lets figure out what’s going on, how did the dogs get out, why are they so vicious,” Nassau County Police Inspector Kenneth Lack told Hall.

CHICAGO – Does scanning emails and answering calls from bosses on your smartphone after hours constitute work that should be compensated? A lawsuit winding its way through federal court in Chicago says that it does.

Chicago police Sgt. Jeffrey Allen claims in the suit that the city owes him and fellow officers overtime pay for work performed on department-requisitioned BlackBerry phones. If the plaintiffs eventually prevail, it could mean millions of dollars in back pay.

The issue impacts workers everywhere, Allen’s lawyer said Wednesday after a hearing in the case.

WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports, without a word of discussion or debate, county commissioners agreed to settle the medical malpractice lawsuit filed by the Justine Francique, whose son Keith suffered cardiac arrest after surgery at Stroger Hospital in December 2011 to repair an undescended testicle.

It took five minutes before medical personnel to notice Keith’s heart had stopped, and perform CPR.
