Summertime Sadness

Although it is a very exciting time when summer rolls around it also sad for many of us when we realize we are NOT bikini ready.
thus I have put together some images of wonderful one piece bating suits that will ensure we look our best. After all fashion does inspire interiors!

This bathing suit is very traditional in its colours and style as well. The blue and white with the separation of the belt is very similar to what someone would wear everyday to work. It also emulates the colours of a traditional light house inspired cottage.

This bathing suit I would say encapsulates my style in fashion and interiors. The dark seductive colour paired with mixed metals in the straps and her accessories suggest classic elegance with a touch of a vintage feel. I like to mix different medias in unexpected ways to layer lots of texture, much like the effect her bathing suit gives off. It also reminds me of one of my favourite time time in history, the roaring 20's - Great Gatsby Esq!

This whole image for me is a mood board waiting to happen for a very laid back cottage. Imagine the white linen couches, sandy beige woven carpets, and blue sea accessories!

I would like to add that not only are the one pieces above stunning but so are photo shoot sets!

I recently stumbled upon a website that has everything you could ever want in stationary and then some! Minted.com has several options; such as invitations, announcement cards, personal stationary, ribbons, journals, gifts, and decor - oh my! There is no lack of options that is for sure.

Minted offers unique designs from an assortment of designers. There are a few quick steps to go through to create your own personalized invitation making it a user friendly process. You simply choose a style that a designer has created, the orientation of the card, flat folded, etc.. You can add your own photos to personalize, or a landscape you enjoy, even a printed pattern. For the indecisive person you can try your photos in several card options at once to make a quicker and easier decision.

They have endless options in terms of event planning for the DIY'er. If invitations and announcements were not enough add more sparkle to your event with their party decor options. Their offerings do not stop there they also have art prints ! They start with a simple invitation you can edit and continue with decor and gifts for your guests. They not only have great journals and stationary as gifts they also include art prints. These prints vary in style, colour, etc... There are custom prints, limited edition, and they even have a styling assistant for you.

They offer different wall design ideas. They have different styled walls in many genres ex. bohemian. They then allow you to shop that wall for ideas to add to your very own walls. An assortment of artists curate different styles and varieties of prints.

They also have a blog Julep. The blog offers several seasonal DIY ideas. All which are super cute! The blog is also super easy to navigate. It has many posts to indulge in; designer interviews, favourite fonts, contests to participate in, products they love, and a whole lot more. The blog is split in different sections which offer more in depth choices. Again very user friendly as they make it easy to find what you are looking for.

The contest looks so good I just may enter myself!

None the less Minted offers many options for stationary, invitations, decor, and a wonderful blog! The site is very user friendly and allows for lots of unique touches to be added to whatever you choose to create. It is a resource that DIY'ers can use frequently and the average person can try to create a unique event easily. I will definitely be visiting the site soon to purchase some art prints of my own! IDS 2014 Faves!

As most of you are aware this past weekend was the IDS 2014 show. I have a wonderful time and met great people. The highlight of the show for me was the gorgeous flirting options. All the tiles and different patterned hardwood options were fantastic. Below you can see all my fave from the show and do not worry there is no shortage of photos! ( all photos via moi curtesy of IDS exhibitors!)

I love marble no matter what type of vein! From simple subway tiles to a wonderful pattern like above the marble always shines !

A herringbone pattern can also add character whether it be a hardwood floor or a showers tiling!

I just loved ikea's booth this year! The gold tiling just to die for, I liked that they layered gold on gold with the frame and tiling. It is a bold statement that would look awesome in a brass or silver! Urban barn really took it to another level and upped there visual display!

Fave Colour Palette!

Although I had promised my DIY gallery wall as my next post I have something else for now! (I did finish off the wall and it looks phenomenal !)

I thought I would show you 2 things the first is a fireplace mantle vignette.

This fireplace is a custom fireplace I designed for a special client! My lovely mother! I chose to use a rougher stone for lots of texture. I also went with a stone that has a variety of colours which will allow for more variety in the colour palette.

I used all our excess artwork to create a mantle top vignette. They key to making it cohesive is artwork which have common colours. I used several warm tones similar to the stone hues. To ground everything I used a earth tone green on the walls.

As it is a basement, and we had a limited budget, a drop ceiling was used. This also helps with enlarging the space as it is a light colour.

This is the second. This is my fave restaurant in Niagra Falls, Bravo. They have the most delicious Italian cuisine and a great decor.

There is no lack of design within this space. Attention is paid to even the smallest details.

The textiles, upholstery, tiles/ stone, and wood finishes are amazing. They work together impeccably !

When I look at the decor within this space it definitely reminds me of my fireplace mantle vignette. These tones are one of my fave's to use within spaces. They have such character and depth when layered.

Time Flys . . .

How time can fly! Looking back at my last post it was spring! And here we are ready to welcome winter! In the months that have past I have been quite the busy bee. A new job with lots of event planning involved! As well as a birthday or two - make that a few! It has been a long and wonderful summer and I am ready for the winter! Let it snow! Although before the ground is glittered it must be leave covered. Who doesnt love a good autumn season!

It is just as romantic as winters snowflakes. I will actually be pumpkin picking soon, as it has become tradition! I also want to start a new tradition and go apple picking followed by homemade apple pies!

Add a little fall flavour to your door with a wreath , they aren't just for Christmas!

Or add a little rustic touch to your mantle piece for an autumn effect, pairing an existing modern mirror with rustic candle sticks will do just fine. Or use your existing candlesticks and buy bark rapped candles. If budget is low try hot gluing twine around the candle or simply tie in a bow.

Other great fall things are carnivals and fairs. My town has one every year. With rides, games, cotton candy, a petting zoo, and more! Of course the Ferris wheel is always there as well! Check it out @ Bolton Fall Fair!

Another crowd pleaser is the Toronto Fall Home Show which just wrapped up this past weekend. It was fantatstic. Lots of great companies and products. Not to mention the wonderful speakers they had! Leigh Ann Perrault and the Property Brothers just to name a few!

As always she was fantastic! Never disappointing! Also there was @NicholasRosaci looking as damper as ever! Hanging out at the Digs lounge area. Gorgeous lounge/booth area.One of my favourite things this year were the tile patterns my top pick can be seen below - wouln't it look gorgeous as a backsplash or as a shower floor?

This pattern is to die for! I also love a herringbone they featured at the show this weekend and a few other marble patterned options! I am kicking myself in the but for not taking any pictures!

There was much more going on at the show, like the habitat for humanitarians Restore a door project. So many unique ways to make a door into something that can used everyday. It is such a good way to reuse, recycle, and give back to your community. It just goes to show how easy and helpful a DIY can be!

On that note visit next week for my next post where you can get a look at reusing picture frames. I made a simple ten dollar investment for a gallery wall that will look back at me forever!

A Little Spring in Your Step

With the warm weather approaching and a taste of it this last week everyones backyard is on their mind! Even if you don't have a backyard then you are thinking about the Toronto Waterfront, walks on lakeshore boulevard, a picnic in High Park. The list is endless and as are the possibilities. I have come up with my favourite spring and summer picks. These encapsulate my love for decor, event styling, fashion, and my inner foodie! I hope you love it all as much as I do!

This is the essence of summer for me! A comfortable chair and umbrella! and of course my pool! My fave item is the oversized lounger. Many can be found at a lost cost from Walmart, Crate and Barrel, Target, and even at a higher price and much finer quality from Andrew Richard Designs.

One of the best relaxing things to do while in the sun is getting a manicure! My fave colour for the summer is a gorgeous light pink that is pearlized with a shimmer to the tips! It brings out even the slightest tan!

All That Glitters...

A personal favourite touch to any room is the addition of metal accessories. I love anything metallic that shines! I know very mag pie the bird of me! But as we all know diamonds are a girls best friend! I love a good crystal door knob, brass cabriole leg, silver frame, or rose gold sequin accent. I find that a little bit of shine can really lighten a space up. Layering different metal finishes can add character to a room, whereas having to many scattered about can be confusing and chaotic. Runway Meets Interiors

It is a new year and many things have come with it! Like a new job, you can now find me at Hope Designs were I am a staging assistant, although the position hasn't started just quite yet it is very exciting. Also this year brings new television shows, new recipes I have found and award season! The golden globes have come and gone the academy awards, grammies and oscars are to come. I love to see all the stars and what they are wearing. As we all know what we wear is a direct reflection of interiors and interior trends. So I decided that it is once again necessary to show some of my fave interior decor work from other designers and gorgeous runway and thrift find outfits.

To show you my fave outfit that works hand in hand with this interior I have taken to polyvore one of the greatest sites for fashion bloggers to create wonderful boards.

I choose to create this mood board/set to resemble Meredith's interior for several reasons. I chose soft colours to compliment the drapery and to act as the draperies. The gold coco chanel earring not only helps to bring out the vintage elements of the vignette shown but also in the framed cherry blossom picture. I used the tory burch purse to balance out all the light pinks. The pattern of tory burch and the style of the coco chanel earring is similar to the feel of the room you get from just this one vignette.

Below is another set I completed on polyvore, it is created from the picture within the set. It is very bold and bright and although i created this set a while ago I feel it is still on trend today and will last the test of time with minor changes. Any thoughts post a comment!

The colour palette is both neutral with a pop of colour, and traditional with a thick stripe. The louis chair will almost never go out of style as I find it a staple piece to any space when in a rut. It can easily be modernized with both new fabric and paint.

A Bar Cart Essential!

As an avid decorator planning events goes hand in hand. I am always happy to throw a party or organize an event. It is something that I love to do! With the holiday season arriving entertaining is a must as people will always drop in and parties will always take place. This christmas season I have decided to focus my efforts on making entertaining being pulled off seamlessly. Last year I did tags and gift wrap and a large assortment of all kinds of things. All of those things are important but this year I am focusing on the experience guests will have. To be even more specific I have decided to focus on a staple that every host needs to have. Refreshments! Although some parties congregate in the kitchen while others in the dining or living area it is always important to be able to transition easily. I find the best way to do so is with a bar cart or refreshment cart if alcohol is not your thing. Although as the holidays are coming up quickly a new bar cart may not be in your budget. In this case i have come up with a way to create the same idea. You can easily clear off a shelf at counter level and transform it into a bar. Or you can re purpose an old side table by adding wheels which can be found inexpensively at any hardware store. By placing things on trays it makes it easier to transfer to a different space. a side table can also be used. Below you will find my rendition of what a bar cart should consist of and how it becomes functional in each space.

I have created my own bar cart rendition in my own home. I used a shelf as a cart stand in to show how easy it can be on a small budget. I used simple greenery sprigs with a few holiday touches to keep it simple. As well as traditional decanters and a tray for transportation reasons. This makes it easier to transition from space to space. I also used a vintage glass to add an extra something to the vignette. It is easy to create this look for under a hundred dollars by using thrift store finds, which will add a vintage touch. I hope you enjoy the cart and the ideas and it makes life a little easier for you this holiday season.

Meet & Greet w/ Trick or Treaters!

As we all know Halloween is just around the corner! It is one of my favourite holidays of the year, as is christmas which is also really soon too! For this halloween I decided on a few treats for you lovely readers. The first is a styled front table with delicious treats to meet your trick or treaters! The second is a different take on the traditional carved pumpkin. The third is the floral arrangement, treats, and a DIY kids halloween game! So lets dive right in!

Carving a pumpkin is such a traditional halloween activity that I could not resist! So I carved one small/ mini pumpkin and I paint my other. This is a great DIY activity for kids that is less mess. They can paint a halloween scene or a funny face and all with paint. As for me i painted on a zig zag pattern, I allowed the cracks to remain uncovered to break up the black a bit. You can also add black glitter to the paint for a bit of sparkle and shine! I used Scoth Blue Tape to ensure clean lines and precise painting!

I created an entrance setting to welcome the trick or treaters with treats. I started with candle sticks, one with a carmel corn treat, a different spin on the use of a candle stick, I also used organic decor as well. I then put to use my pumpkin inside as well as black and white 1960's books. I tried to create a small scene that represents halloween with a chic undertone.

I also used a rubber stamp of a pumpkin to create playing cards, this is an easy activity to kids to complete. They can create the cards and then play games with them such as Go Fish. They were easy to create. The floral arrangement is from hilltop flowers, we created it together. It is easy to create fall/halloween pieces, flowers always add that extra touch! And it is nice to have them around when they are fresh!

Throughout putting together this idea I thought about what would be interesting. I thought that a meet and greet with the trick or treaters was a cute idea, I tried to achieve a spooky chic theme. I used a lot of black and white as well as beiges and browns to soften it up. I used the pop of orange in the traditional pumpkin and the purple to contrast. Hopefully this will inspire you all to create a welcoming halloween entrance to welcome your trick or treaters into!

As I have graduated I did have a party though it was just a family bbq. I took the opportunity to try new desserts and different recipes. As well as style the event to look gorgeous! You have all seen the invitation so you have a taste of what the party should look like and the theme as well as colour scheme. So enjoy! I put a lot of work into it and I think it turned out extremely well!

Backyard Bliss, fun in the sun!

Today I thought I would share a project that I completed in the sun! It is also a portfolio piece, it showcases my table top design skills as well as my styling abilities! Hope you enjoy it!

I started out knowing I was going to do it in my backyard. There for I already had a set colour palette. Blues and oranges, they are complimentary colours so I knew it would work out for the best!

All of this had a very beachy feel with a sense of chicness. Starfish are one of my favourite things and these glass dishes were just to die for! I though they were the cutest things ever! I really tried to incorporate the colours and have some accents too, I wanted a variety of textures as well. The tweed string played a great role and really reinforced the look i was trying to achieve! Overall it went very well although it was a hot day!

Surprise!

So the long awaited photos of the 50th surprise party are here! Excuse the photographs if they aren't the best - sorry! Some background information the theme was originally to be purple as that is her favourite colour with charcoal grey and gold accents. Unfortunately seat covers for the chairs were not in the bit so the colour palette had to be tweaked to accommodate this. The chairs were a red burgundy with gold accents so I pulled out the gold and made that the main focus. I then incorporated a golden orange to accent the tone of the red burgundy. I also used a lot of cream to add dimension to the dark richer tones within the chairs. So here are the final pictures! All Via Moi!

All the desserts are home made except the two cakes, then i would have gone crazy making desserts and baking! Otherwise I made it all, I also made all the label tags that are in such great shapes! Hope you liked my ideas! and get some inspiration from it! Soon to come 2 room sets/event planning posts!

Compositional Graphics

As I told you I have some graphic compositions in store, the first was done for my mother as the graphics are predesigned by her company I composed them with her title etc.. to create the following for her to use as her twitter picture, Facebook, other social media sites, business card, etc..

I have also done a few other minor compositions of graphics which I will soon post as I am awaiting the final touches to be finished on them!

A few tips:

1 - when working with composition it is important that everything flows

2 - symmetry is important whether it be asymmetrical, radial, etc..

3 - have fun with it and also get a second set of eyes on it

I am sure there are many other tips to be given but essentially it is all about the principles and laments of design and how they effect what you are working on, but otherwise these are the tips and tricks I constantly try to follow that I find the most useful.

Glamorous & Graduating : Celebratory

The last little while has been so crazy. I know you are probably thinking this is what I say and what I tell you you every time I write you! Although it is true. I have been working on planning parties with tons of decor, reading many a books and magazines, as well as working and doing some room sets! Now although I am jittering with excitement I will save the room sets to a later post when I have more to show you! The surprise birthday post is on its way as i am waiting on the photographs, and finally I will share with you my current party planning extraordinary celebratory graduation bbq! As many of you know I am graduating this summer! I finished off my final projects in april and had a few design showings of my work which were so fun and fantastic! They were a great networking experience, they just went to show how important it is to attend design events. So I am now awaiting my convocation ceremony to happen towards the end of this month, and as it approaches I am continuing to plan my graduation bbq. Unfortunately it s just a family thing although I am looking forward to doing something with the girls. The theme : glam, chic pool party bbq! with hits of teal/turqouise/sea foam green and coral/raspberry. A bit vague with the colour combo but they are all in and around the same area, I think it will be coral and teal. Below is my invitation...

So this is the invite it was printed on regular white/cream card stock and was mounted on a teal card stock creating a boarder. I got the idea/inspiration from a bunch of other decor and party planning blogs. Here are some other inspiring images...

I love this arrangement, the vase is wonderfully chic and vintage with gorgeous flowers, that is a great flower arrangement! It is really the main inspiration for the party and I hope to be able to create great piece like that.

I love this kids party because of the adorable tags in the cups cakes and the ribbon flags, another have is the zebra flower pot. I definitely want to do the ribbon flags as I do have some lying around pre cut and I would love to paint a pot like this! It would be fun for the pot to act as a dessert tray, it could have mud and worms inside, cookie crumb pudding and jelly worms!

Another have of mine is the cute flag, although it is not a birthday it would be cute to have a phrase hanging above with some lace to give it a chic edge. I would also love to do the water bottle labels. I have done the extensive dessert table with the labels per plate and such and this time I want to do it but a bit different. I want to do cute ribbon flag tags of course and a nice banner! I would also love to....

A cute rectangular jars with a great ribbon or paper ribbon filled with popcorn instead of candy with decorative paper cones inside to place your popcorn in.

Those are my ideas/inspirations although I will be tweaking and adding and subtracting aspects and colours this is the general direction I am heading in. Hopefully I will have enough time that day to take a lot of good photos and be able to show you all the finished product! Cannot wait to show the finished product to you all; also to come this month a look at some of my graphic design - compositional work, hopefully the surprise birthday photos, the finished bb photos, and the new room sets/ portfolio pieces! Possibly the new layout of my portfolio and reworking my twitter, branding handle? - glossy chic, chic gloss , something like chic glossy decor/chic gloss decor??? thoughts , send them my way would love the input!! as a side note is it worth it to change will it be recognizable, does everyone already know me as chic innovative design, again your thoughts very important and vital to my final decision!

Chanel goes Versailles!

Although I have promised a post on other things, which will happen I could not resist to post about this:

Chanel recently had a fashion show for their upcoming line, and it was in France Versailles!

This show was obviously in versailles held at a wonderful venue! It was the home of Marie Antoinette! and was were the movie was shot as well! So naturally the fashion, styles, and looks were all partially inspired by this time period!

This is one of my favourite looks! I love the layering of the jewellery and the texture of the over coat! There make up is simple and reminiscent of a past time but their outfits modern and vicarious! There hair styles play between both of these playing on wonderful chalky and greyed colours!

In every outfit the same glorious feeling is presented! From swim suits to off the shoulder dresses! In the above picture I just love the gold embellished necklace! I think of outfits as interiors in a way. The image with the layered jewellery and textured over coat remind me of heavily layered patterns in a space with key colours to link them whilst texture adds a bit of interest as does different surfaces such as the gold embellishments' of the above necklace!

The dress to the right is my absolute favourite! I love the crispness of the white and the edginess the lovely blue pattern gives. The peek a boo effect is just to die for! I really love the feline touch added by the royal blue adornment.

Again we see the gorgeous gold and silver in the dress beside mixing different finishes to create a one of a kind look! The swim suit is one anyone would be lucky to wear! Where as the outfits to the right are those that are fit for a queen! Or maybe just Kate Middleton!

I found this picture and thought how very similar to the past marie antoinette it is but classical like Chanel! The Chanel bags that are tied with ribbon add a touch of elegance to the sketch/ rendition. It is wonderful to see these chalky pastel colours with golds and silvers and other luxurious textiles. This is one of my favourite lines from them if not my fave! This is probably because i can see one of these outfits as an interior that I would love to live in!

Table Decor for Thought

Although I promised pictures of the 50th surprise birthday i arranged unfortunately i haven't received a copy yet. I the mean time I would love to share with you my latest table decor setting. You have seen christmas and of course thanks giving and you saw how I transformed items from event into purposes for another. For easter I did the same once again. Instead of filling my large jar with pine cones I filled it with kinder surprise eggs! This is a great for every easter, everyone loves to open these eggs young or old! And they are very cheap at costco, although we can't get to carried away with big box store shopping! Rachel Ray did a great piece on her show with a few rules to follow, you can find her tips here! Anyways some DIY ideas I came up with this time around is reusing old plastic eggs that were used for easter egg hunts when kids were smaller!

As you can see I repurposed them by adding some colour to the vase, the colour is now at the bottom and the top were the tulips are creating visual flow between. The stems of the tulips also make us look downward as many flowers stems do, most of the time there is nothing to look at but now there is visual interest. This is an easy DIY centrepiece that takes very little work but adds that extra touch!

I also added a kids touch but creating a candy / dessert table. I bought tiny jars to hold the candy at the dollar store! These jars are the cutest things ever and can be repurposed for many other things as well. Jars and vases always come in handy! ( I actually repurposed one of the jars at a design show to hold my business cards while the other jar held candy, I tried to be clever!)

Another great idea I had was a cute easter wreath on my door! Although the one I have is store bought I can easily make another for next year! I can even make tiny ones as well! All you need is paint, Styrofoam eggs, a nest from the store, and a few strands of fake flowers or real depending on how often you would like to replenish the wreath. If you start with the nest you can weave in the strands of fake flowers or real, you then can paint the eggs in funky designs or simple, whatever you feel best suits you and your home! You then simply attach the painted eggs onto the nest itself but poking a branch into the egg! You can also make miniature size wreaths and place chocolates in the centre as table decor thank you's for each guest! If you go the miniature route I suggest no styrofoam eggs as real chocolate ones will be present and there is o need to get confused!

This picture is similar to what I had in mind, maybe a few small scale flowers can be added to the nest but none the less a gorgeous job!

Finally I used a cream coloured table cloth with a damask pattern. As we can't expect to buy new table cloths for every occasion and every theme we choose I tried to stick with a neutral colour that will best suit future colour schemes. I also chose a cream and grey printed patterned napkin. Although it cam in turquoise I felt the bright centrepiece and dessert table said enough already! I love to mix neutral tones and layer lots of pattern to crete visual interest not only within an interior but on a table top as well!

I also played with mixing the shine of the glass, silvers, and golds to create a mix of materials as well as textures! Now that I have shown you my easter here are a few great easter ideas I found elsewhere!

Both pictures are fabulous and great ideas! Although my pictures are nothing to compare, that is why I have decided that this is my new venture. Dress for Decor Perfection

It has been quite a while and a lot has gone on! To catch you all up the following has happened; wrapping up my final semester in the interior decorating program at humber college ( i am done school! forever, maybe!), the second was finish up my internship at the steven and chris show which was fantastic-as well as attend the season wrap party at steven and chris's penthouse!, additionally i have begun work on my portfolio again!, as well as a job search! With all this going on I had little time to blog as many of you have undeniably noticed! But now I have some time on my hands and there is no need to worry!

So now to begin were I left off , which was essentially catching you up with what has been going which I have done I can now continue to talk about design. I wanted to first take a look at how fashion influences design and decor. We all know that there is a direct correlation between the to and some even go as far to create spaces based on fashion straight off the runway. So lets take a look at a few examples below, why they work, what I like and what I would change and why.

The image above was featured in apartment theory blog, where they talked about the use of mustard within spaces. It was a great post and definitely something to check out! In the picture we can see the use of mustard in both her skirt and the headboard. As this is a picture it is hard to tell what type of fabric is used but ideally I would have used a velvet. This colour on the of the velvet and the shape of the headboard would have really enforced a victorian feel that we can see within the headboard. The neutral tones are wonderful and a favourite of mine.

The above picture although not related to fashion interiors is one of my favourites. The sea foam green, turquoise, and neutral white are some of my favourite colours. The texture adds a lot of interest and makes this piece wonderful. I would consider using these pieces as focal points on a wall, or accessories on a shelf, even an added visual feature atop a stack of books on a night table to create visual interest. This piece also relates quite well to the outfit below.

This outfit incorporates the colours as well as the same shapes of the accessory itself. The white framed sunglasses add to the likeness in colour.

With just a few simple pictures we can see how interiors and accessories take inspiration from fashion. A key example can be seen of european interior design and decor.

Checking In.... So Little Time!

I know it has been a while and I apologize for that, but there is lots to report! For starters I spent my christmas vacation in the Dominican Republic!!!

It was gorgeous and fantastic! But it was a relief to come home! After my return from vacation I received one of the greatest emails ever! I had sent an email to the unit producer from the Steven and Chris Show and needless to say I am their new decor intern!!

It is a wonderful opportunity that has thus far been lots of fun, it is a great opportunity to network and a wonderful work experience as well as design experience.

Obviously you all know that additionally the IDS 2012 show happened and I hope you all went! It was fabulous as always!

Additionally to the show I have been busy with school as always! I am coming up on my graduation! It is only a few short months away! So I maybe be distant for a while as this is my last gasp of air in my last stretch of crazy projects till I am finally at the end! A Christmas DIY!

This christmas I tried something new! A recycled DIY! I used house hold items and old craft paper, re using, recycling - up cycling! I created my very own holiday christmas present cards with only things in my bag of tricks! ( a craft bag I bring when I babysit!)

In my craft bag I have the essentials, construction paper, fancier pattern craft paper for scrap books, scrap book stickers, glue, glitter sticks and glues, jewels, pencil crayons, you name the art supply and it is in this bag! I additionally needed an old newspaper - recycling!!! I used my craft scissors plus these other supplies to cut up the tags....

Once I had them all cut I assembled them....

Once assembled I added more layers of different papers for a nicer effect and added glitter and old ribbon to create bows and give it a cute look! I then wrote everyones names as per the gift!

Once I finished my tags I proceeded to make more tags as name plates for my dining table for christmas lunch that was held at my house!

As you can see I used an old cream coloured damask table cloth - my colours were gold, green, and cream, with a hint of red! I used a green damask printed napkin to pick up on the pattern from the table cloth, and you can see the silver ware inside the rolled napkin which is tied with a green bow that holds the name tag on! The tags are similar to the gift tags as to keep the theme consistent!

The centre piece idea is a spin on something I saw! I used jars that I found in my cupboard and filled them with different levels of water and added cranberries! I wanted to use white cranberries and throw in a few blueberries but I figured that the red was festive and added a pop of colour!

I arranged the centre piece in two ways in a line down the table or bunched up, both were cute - we do a buffet style for christmas so that and drinks are the only thing on the table - the less clutter the better! I also reused my jars of cinnamon scented pine cones from thanksgiving. I rolled the pine cones in white liquid glue and then gold glitter - it added a bit of sparkle to christmas and reused an old centre piece as a new one for the dessert table!

All That is Gold!

This thanksgiving I decided to go all out with the table decor - as the decor guru it is my responsibility to! (side note - decor guru, thoughts - i threw it out there last post, i have been thinking of a sign off name for the blog here , you all know my twitter is chic innovative which is what my blog is but i feel like i need an actual sign off... thoughts)
My colour palette - brown, gold and green!

I started with a centre piece idea - different types of jars, sizes and shapes to create an eclectic but chic look, then i filled them with scented pine cones. The pine cones represent the fall season, and can be used for christmas decor by painting the tips white to look like snow or adding glitter to the tips to look like snow. I then brought in the brown as the table cloth colour as well, having a big family with lots of kids means a huge mess so lighter colours aren't always the best idea! I then went with a gold charger plate and used thick green ribbon to tie together the party favour- plate decor. I baked thirty dozen cookies for table decor and dessert! I stacked 3 cookies and tied them together with a ribbon and attached a tag with each guest name! the flavours - cinnamon shortbread, cranberry shortbread, and chocolate shortbread with smarties - gotta have a kids dessert!
