Wahrscheinlich muss man nur knapp 2000 Kabel auseinander löten, schneiden, zusammenlöten, verbinden usw, damit schnell innert Minuten ein homemade Küchen Musik Studio daraus entsteht. Diese Jungs machens vor… muss das Spass machen ;o)

DE: Die einen nennen es Kunst, die anderen abstossend und doch ist es kreativ, oder vielleicht nicht? Na ja, mir ist es jedenfalls einen Beitrag wert… dieses etwas andere Video muss man mal gesehen haben. Es ist das offizielle Video von Diplo & Don Diablo zur ihrem Track “Make You Pop”. Den Track gibts zwar schon ne Weile, aber ein kurzen Videoclip hats noch benötigt.

EN: Some call it art, others repellent, yet it is creative, or maybe not? Well, to me it is certainly worth a post … you must have seen this video. DE: Ein neues Duo hat sich gefunden und die erste EP auf Boysnoize Records veröffentlicht. Niemand geringerer als Boys Noize & Mr. Oizo haben sich zusammengetan unter dem Pseudenym “Handbraekes” für eine EP im klassischen Stil der beiden. Dies ist ziemlich schnell unverkennbar und animiert zu noch mehr tracks. Ab ganzen vier Tracks kann man sich schonmal satthören.

Ein spezielles Video was mir noch unter die Fittiche gekommen ist, User “barzolff814” hat auf Youtube einen wahnsinns Teaser zusammengeschnitten. Kurz und knackig aber sowas von genial und lustig und passend zum Sound. Video gleich unten.

EN: A new duo has formed and released their first EP on Boysnoize Records. No one less than Boys Noize & Mr. Oizo came together as “Handbraekes” for an EP in the typical style of the two. This is quite distinctive and quickly animates to listen to even more tracks. There are four tracks on the EP to play and repeat.

A special video which I found is from a user called “barzolff814“. He has cut together a truely wicked teaser-video on Youtube. Short and sweet but really awesome and suitable for the sound. Video just below.

DE: Naldo ist ein junger Typ aus Miami, Florida, der es bereits einmal in meine Soundcloud Discoveries geschafft hatte. Ich war schon damals fasziniert über seinen Track “Close Encounters”. Nun hat er es geschafft, eine EP mit dem selben Namen auf den Markt zu bringen. Veröffentlicht wurde sie bei Deep Tech Records. Naldo geht als 13. Veröffentlichung des Labels hervor und dies mit einem bravurösen Start. Es ist die erste EP die von Naldo erschienen ist (January 23, 2012).

Wenn ich mir seine gekonnten Spielereien in den tiefen Frequenzen anhöre, klingt das als wenn ein Autofanatiker eine neue Corvette vor sich hat ;o) Hinzu kommt, dass er dem Namen des Labels voll und ganz gerecht wird mit seinen technoid gehaltenen, ausgeklügelten Beats.

Die EP beinhaltet 3 Tracks, wovon meines Erachtens “Viabovo” als Meisterstück heraussticht. Hört euch dieses Stück mit einem Kopfhörer an, welcher die tiefen Frequenzen im Griff hat und ihr werdet schnell verblüfft sein wie klar Subbasses wirken können, ohne dass sie zugleich matschig rüberkommen.

Als Newcomer in der Branche hat sich Naldo freundlicherweise auch bereit erklärt, mir in einem kleinen Online-Interview Red und Antwort zu stehen. Ich hoffe es vermittelt einen Eindruck von Naldo als Künstler. Das Interview gibts nur in English, damit die Message der Antworten erhalten bleibt. Und natürlich nicht vergessen zuunterst in seine neue EP reinzuhören ;o)

EN: Naldo is a young guy from Miami, Florida, who already made it once into my SoundCloud Discoveries. I was already fascinated by his track “Close Encounters”. Now he has managed to release a same-titled EP on the market. It was published via Deep Tech Records. Naldo ist so far the 13th release of the label and started with a big-bang. It is the first EP released by Naldo (January 23, 2012).

When I listen to his skillful games in the low frequencies, it sounds as if a car fanatic has a new Corvette in front of him ;o) And in addition, he completely did justice to the label’s name with his technoid held, sophisticated beats.

The EP contains three tracks, of which in my opinion “Viabovo” clearly stands out as a masterpiece. Listen to this song with headphones, which are capable managing really low frequencies and you’ll quickly be amazed how clear subbasses can act and at the same time don’t come across muddy.

As a newcomer to the scene, Naldo has kindly agreed to answer a few questions to Chief Thomson Blog. I hope it provides kind of a nice small portrait of Naldo as an artist. The interview is kept in English only, so the message of the artist fully remains. And right at the bottom, don’t forget to listen to his new EP ;o)

Interview:
What’s the idea or the story behind your artist name?

Well It’s a shortened version of my middle name “Arnaldo” taking out the A and the R which gives you “Naldo”.

How long you already produce music?

Interms of Raw/Tonal music about 9 years, but digitally only 6 years.

How comes you started producing music?

I started producing Music at first to get ideas from my head into a recording so I could remember. This started when I was in my Metal Band and I wanted to switch up Guitar parts with Bass parts on a Program called Acoustica Mixcraft. From there I started experimenting with more Anolog Instruments and Drum Machine style sounds when I started messing around with FL Studio. After a few years I switched to Logic, Pro Tools, and currently I use Ableton to Produce my House/Techno/Nu Jazz/Hip Hop Material.

Do you do djing as well? If so, what kind of music?

Yes I do DJ, I started djing to understand how to make house/techno tracks. Its been A lot of fun due to the fact that the process of finding tracks is like a easter egg hunt, and then when you have a stack of great tracks you personally enjoy its fun to feel the rhythmic trance you get into and the improvisation involved when mixing them together. In terms of type, I really enjoy deep/tech/house, as well as Minimal Techno when I feel like mixing something very intense.

Do you play any instruments? If so, what instruments?
Yes, Guitar, Piano, and Violin.

Do you use real instruments (hardware stuff) in your music or is it only digital (pc generated) stuff?
I use everything, Its all about the modulation of sound, in order to create a fresh sound. I’ve used a few conversations; I’ve also recorded myself playing various instruments. I think there is a true art to sampling, the fact that it is something you have to do on your own makes different sounds blending very interesting as well as very time consuming and difficult at times to get it right; but it all pays off when I listen to a finished idea.

What is your favourite VST synth for production?
To me I have no Favorites I love using anything and everything with the right amount of tweaking, but some of the synth’s I’ve been digging lately is Massive by Native Instruments.

Did you study music or did you learn it by yourself?
I have studied music in a Conservatory setting for Jazz and Classical Guitar. But most of the production is all by ear and a little bit of observation from a pop label I did a few sessions of Guitar studio work for.

Is “Close Encounters” your first EP?
Yes, the Close Encounters Ep with Deep Tech Records, is my first official release under my alias “Naldo”.

How comes you signed for Deep Tech Records?

Well I’ve been talking to Duky who I’ve become to be good friends with. Duky is the owner of Deep Tech Records. We both have similar beliefs on what music we enjoy listening to and what music we make and the message behind our music.

What are your sources of inspiration in music?

Creativity, Courage and Improvisation is my main source of Inspiration in music. This is something I have gained from learning and performing tonal music throughout my early life. I also look at my surroundings, the music I put inside my tracks can sound very metallic while also containing harmony that invokes a emotion to the listener while making them shake to the swing inside the beat. Some of my favorite dj/producers from what I’ve seen/heard thus far have to be: Maya Jane Coles, Sven Vath, Duky, Loco Dice, M.in, tINI, Chris Lattener, Gaiser, Ethyl, Flori, &ME, Ricardo Villalobos, Worthy, J. Phlip, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Lone, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, and many more, these are just a few names that come to mind.

What are your targets in life? (meant musically)

To be able to make or play any genre of music. To me all genres have their good and bad songs. To me a good musician/dj/producer is a person who looks at a song they dislike and is able to remake that song/track into something that sounds great!

So heben wir das Glas auf die italienische Personifizierung der Technoszene. In Neapel gross geworden hat er bald die Szene nebst und mit dem Italo House unsicher gemacht, bis er sich in den späten 90er dem Techno zuwandte. Mit seinem damals gegründeten Label Design Music hat er der Szene reichlich guten Stoff verpasst und war auch beim 1000 Imprint nicht geizig. Anfang 2000 hat er sich mit seinem Open System Album reichlich gute Kritik eingeholt und ist seitdem wahrscheinlich mehr denn je unterwegs um seine Fans zu beglücken. Also Prost! Marco Carola.

EN: Happy Birthday Marco Carola.

So we raise a glass to the personification of the Italian techno scene. Grew up in Naples, he was soon in and arround the scene of Italian House until in the late 90′s he swapped over to Techno. With his founded label Design Music he made some really good sounding gifts to the scene and even with his 1000 imprint he didn’t keep back any good music. Beginning 2000, he earned plenty of good reviews for his his album Open System and is, I assume, therfore even more on the road to groove arround with his fans. So cheers! Marco Carola.

DE: Weitere 2 Monate sind vorbei, da es ja im Dezember keine Charts gab. Der Grund, ich habe meine ganze Musik Library mal rigoros aufgeräumt und daher fast keine neue Musik gekauft aber umso mehr alte Schätze ausgegraben ;o)

Speziell erwähnen möchte das Album von Planetary Assault System und Mr. Oizo. Die 2 haben beide ein herrlich synthetisch digitales und irgendwie inspirierend durchgeknalltes Stück Scheibe auf den Markt geworden. Sehr zu empfehlen für Ohren die über Club Tracks hinausgehen.

EN: Another 2 months passed by, because I didn’t collect any charts last month. The reason, I completely reorganised my whole music library, therefore bought almost no new music but the more I’ve found some old treasures ;o)

Would like to mention specifically the LP’s from Planetary Assault System and Mr. Oizo. Both produced a gorgeously synthetic, digital tracks and somehow spread some manic inspiration over the markets. Highly recommended for ears beyond club tracks.

Remember: Reese & Santonio – Truth Of Self Evidence (1988)

DE: Dieses Stück liegt doch schon ziemlich etwas länger her. Da war ich gerade mal 5 Jahre alt und Martin Luther King Jr. hatte bereits seit längerem das zeitliche gesegnet und doch ist es bis heute einer der wohl bekanntesten Texte der Welt: “I have a dream…”. Auch dieser Track des Duos Kevin Saunderson & Santonio Echols hat sich der Rede bedient und und ist bis heute noch ein wahrlich guter Techno Track.

EN: Yeah, this piece is quite a while ago. Since I was only 5 years old and Martin Luther King Jr. had been blessed for a long time already, it is anyway one of the most famous texts of the world: “I have a dream…”. Also this track by the duo Kevin Saunderson & Santonio Echols has taken these famous words from the Luther speech and so it is still a really good Techno track.

DE: Ein Hoch auf IDM. Vor Monaten hatte ich ein Portrait geschrieben über einen in England ansässigen jungen Künstler, der sich dem IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) verschrieben hat. Es geht um Ranvir Bassi. Ich folge immer noch seinen Spuren auf Soundcloud und so kams, dass ich letztens über einen seiner neuen Tracks gestolpert bin. Der Track wurde Mitte Januar online gestellt. Wie man also hören kann, hat ihn seine Kreativität nicht verlassen und beglückt immer noch viele Menschen mit IDM. Viel Spass also mit seinem Track “Mad-Lost”, welcher auf seinem letzten Album (1. Januar 2012) “2 Zero 1 2″ via Bandcamp erhältlich ist.

EN: Highly praise IDM. Months ago, I had written a portrait of a young artist based in England, who has joined the IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) scene. It is about Ranvir Bassi. I follow his footsteps still on Soundcloud and so it happened that I recently stumbled over one of his new tracks. The track was published in mid-January. As you can hear, he still is full of creativity and still delights the world around him with IDM. So enjoy the track “Mad-Lost”, which is released within his new album “2 Zero 1 2″ on Bandcamp.

News: Azealia Banks Next Record on Universal Music

DE: Zugegeben, das war ja nur eine Frage der Zeit. Mit ihrem Werk “212″ hat Azealia Banks sowas von abgeräumt in the Youtube-Charts und im gleichen Zug sind auch noch the Major-Labels ringhörig geworden. Einerseits mag man ihr gratulieren, andererseits schade um so eine gute Sängerin. Auch sie wird nun wohl zu einer dieser Kommerz-Drosseln mutieren die einen Chart Hit nach dem anderen auf den Markt wirft. So kommt es nun, dass Azealia Banks demnächst (May?/Juni?) ein Album bei Universal rausbringen wird. Gespannt bin ich ja trotzdem mal, denn stimmlich muss sie sich absolut vor niemandem verbergen…

EN: Admitted, this was only a matter of time. With her work “212″ Azealia Banks highly poped up in the YouTube charts and at the same time the major labels have payed attention. On the one hand, one may congratulate you, on the other hand, a pity for such a good singer. She possibly will mutate into one of these charts-girlies, which throws a hit after the other on the market. If all works out, Azealia Banks may release a new album soon (May? / June?) on Universal Music. I’m curious anyways, because vocally she has to hide from absolutely anyone…

DE: Unglaublich genialer Vortrag von Viva Vox Choir. Durch eine Facebook Kollegin, danke Andrea, bin ich auf dieses Video gestossen. Ein Serbischer Chor hat ein Medley aus “Out of space”, “No good”, “Smack my bitch up”, “Omen”, “Breathe” und “Firestarter” von The Prodigy zum Besten gegeben. Ich hab es beim Entdecken sicher um die 10 mal hintereinander angehört. Das verdient eine Trophäe in meiner Sammlung der Goldstücke, welche man in seinemm Leben so findet ;o)

Es enthält unter anderem auch Interviews mit Dizzee Rascal, Plasticman, Zed Bias, und ein paar weitere. Die Radioshow stellt im spezifischen auch Dubstep mit UK Garage gegenüber. Trotzdem dass sie schon von 2003 ist, enthält sie doch noch gute Informationen und ist keinesfalls fernab der Gegenwart.
