The Chiefs apparently had a player taken away from the practice field by ambulance after the media members watching the opening portion of the workout were escorted from the field Monday. An ambulance arrived at the practice facility in the latter stages of the workout. Coach Todd Haley didn’t confirm the Chiefs had an incident at practice other than to indicate something might have happened to one of the team’s injured players. “There’s nobody I know of right now,” Haley said when asked about the issue after practice. “The guys out there practicing practiced hard. I didn’t see anything occur where … We’re fighting through some things with some guys you’ve been aware of.” Tackle Ryan O’Callaghan, defensive end Alex Magee and linebacker Cameron Sheffield are the three players on the active roster who were conditioning rather than practicing during the media access portion of practice. O’Callaghan and Magee were spotted in the locker room after practice.

He recorded 59 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 9 1/2 sacks in four seasons at Carson-Newman. TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company, a subsidiary of the adidas Group, has introduced a new line of hats and visors, which features the primary colors and logos of all 32 NFL teams. Golfers across the country can now fly the colors of their favorite teams on the golf course (not on Sundays of course).

Fans can choose from all 32 NFL teams at on-course and off-course retail locations, in addition to select sporting goods retailers. If you are a displaced fan and don’t think you will be able to find your favorite team locally, go to www.taylormadegolfgear.com for a complete selection.

Each hat and visor will feature an NFL team’s logo blazoned on the left panel. The team’s name will also be stitched onto the left corner of the hat/visor. The TaylorMade logo will appear in 3D embroidery on the front panel of the hat.

The hats will be available at retail at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $27.99.

Not a lot of surprises on the projected 53-man roster that the Star published earlier today. I think the words “only two quarterbacks” made every Chiefs’ fan throw up a little in their mouths, though – I’m trying to figure out who would run the team if Cassel and Croyle both got hurt. Chambers, maybe? Run the Wildcat?

I am a little surprised they are electing (probably) to go with three tight ends. Jake O’Connell doesn’t strike me as…well, good. I think I would rather pass on Jake’s skillet hands and keep Alex Magee – thus sparing us from another high draft pick spent on the defensive line flaming out. At least he wasn’t a top-five overall pick though…

I also just noticed – Jarrad Page is not listed on this roster. Good riddance. Someone needs to remind him that’s he’s a 7th-round pick…he’s lucky to be here. We only need him twice a year anyway when we play Oakland. The other 14 games will be manned by someone who understands that occasionally, the teams will run something called a “play action pass”, and the mean old quarterback will fake out the defensive back. Enjoy watching the game and eating Doritos, Page – at least you and I will have something in common this season.

Here’s one estimate of what the Chiefs’ roster will look like on Saturday:

QUARTERBACK (3)
Matt Cassel, Brodie Croyle, Tyler Palko.

•Don’t be surprised if the Chiefs go into the season with only Cassel and Croyle. But Croyle’s preseason injury could scare the Chiefs into keeping three. The Chiefs also might look for a third quarterback to take Palko’s place.

RUNNING BACK (4)
Thomas Jones, Jamaal Charles, Jackie Battle, Tim Castille.

•Fullback Mike Cox looks as if he’s out. He’s not playing on some of the special teams, and last week the Chiefs gave his main job as the lead blocker in short-yardage and goal-line situations to Derek Lokey, a defensive lineman.

WIDE RECEIVER (6)
Chris Chambers, Dwayne Bowe, Dexter McCluster, Terrance Copper, Jeremy Horne, Jerheme Urban.

•Copper sticks because he’s a standout on special teams, and Horne because he’s fast and has some potential. Despite the fact Urban was playing in the fourth quarter of last week’s game, he’s probably safe.

TIGHT END (3)
Leonard Pope, Tony Moeaki, Jake O’Connell.

•There appears to be little for the Chiefs to discuss about this position. O’Connell dropped more than his share of passes, but the Chiefs don’t appear ready to give up on him yet.

OFFENSIVE LINE (9)
Branden Albert, Brian Waters, Casey Wiegmann, Rudy Niswanger, Ryan Lilja, Ryan O’Callaghan, Barry Richardson, Jon Asamoah, Ikechuku Ndukwe.

•This plan gives the Chiefs either Wiegmann or Niswanger as a backup at center, Ndukwe, Asamoah and Niswanger as reserves at guard and Richardson and Ndukwe as spares at tackle.

DEFENSIVE LINE (6)
Tyson Jackson, Ron Edwards, Glenn Dorsey, Shaun Smith, Derek Lokey, Wallace Gilberry.

•Alex Magee would be a surprise if he’s cut — but only because he was the Chiefs’ third-round pick last year. The Chiefs may keep him for that reason even if his play doesn’t warrant it.

LINEBACKER (9)
Mike Vrabel, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, Jovan Belcher, Andy Studebaker, Cameron Sheffield, Corey Mays, Demorrio Williams, David Herron.

•This assumes Sheffield will be ready to play soon. If not, the Chiefs might keep Pierre Walters or more likely go with eight. The Chiefs like Herron as a special-teams player.

DEFENSIVE BACK (10)
Brandon Flowers, Brandon Carr, Javier Arenas, Mike Richardson, Maurice Leggett, Eric Berry, Jon McGraw, Kendrick Lewis, Donald Washington, Reshard Langford.

•This assumes Leggett will be ready to play soon. If he’s not, the Chiefs might keep Travis Daniels or go with nine. Ten is a lot of bodies for the secondary, but the Chiefs will find a way to play all of them — even if just on special teams.

SPECIALIST (3)
Ryan Succop, Dustin Colquitt, Thomas Gafford.

•The Chiefs have no decisions here unless they go without a kicker, punter or long snapper.
