This year, as always, Conor is selling his mince pies, Christmas puddings, brown and white soda bread in the creche. He is holding a tasting on Friday 9th December (tomorrow) from 12 noon to 1pm and from 4.30pm – 6.oopm. If you would like to sample the products before purchasing them this is a great opportunity.

Place your orders early to ensure you will not be disappointed. Last collections for Christmas Food will be on Friday 23rd December. I have attached the Christmas Food form for your perusal. All of the proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the children, parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and everyone else who has been through our doors this year a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We would like to thank you all, especially the children, for enriching our lives so much over the last year. We are delighted that you are part of our lives and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Child’s Play will be closing at 6.30pm on Friday 23rd December and re-opening for full time and part time children on Tuesday 3rd January 2012 at 7.20am. The Montessori and ECCE classes will commence at 9am on Monday 9th January 2012.

Child’s Play Health & Safety Team

We are delighted with the great response that we received from parents who would like to be part of the Health & Safety Team. We will discuss it with all of the parents who put their name forward to see who would like to be on the team starting in January 2012. Up until now we had staff and management representation on the Health & Safty Team. We are very excited to involve the parents in this and we are sure that the expereince and insight they will bring will add great value to the work that the Health & Safety Team do.

We will continue to review the systems we use within the creche and see what other areas parents would be happy to be involved in.

Child’s Play Children colouring for Ronald McDonald House

The children have all been busy making banners, Christmas cards, painting, collages, colourings and Christmas themes for the children in the Ronald McDonald House. The amazing art work is fantastic and so creative. Well done everyone. We will bring it up to the children when we are running their Christmas party for them. Well done every one.

Christmas Concerts and Santa

It’s Christmas time, our favourite time of the year. The children are getting so excited. Our Christmas tree is up, and the children are busy making decorations for their room and the hallway. The children are having so much fun, practicing their songs for their concerts. They are all looking forward to showing their parents all the beautiful songs they have learnt.

I have listed below the dates and times for your child’s concert and Santa visit. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Winter is nearly here…brrrr…

Winter is nearly here and the weather is getting colder and wetter. The children love to go out, run aruond and explore. So please bring in some outdoor gear, hats, scarfes, gloves, etc… and a change of clothes for your child so that they can enjoy the outdoor play area.

The dates for all of the parent evenings have been confirmed and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone on these dates.

Monday 7th November at 8.00pm: Frances Montessori class, Susan’s Pre-School class and the afternoon play class (full time children).

Tuesday 8th November at 8.00pm: Baby room, Wobbler Room, Toddler Room and After School Class

Thursday 10th November at 8.00pm: Pauline’s Montessori classes, morning and afternoon.

This is a great opportunity for parents to meet the staff in their child’s room and also to meet the carer that their child will have next year. We look forward to seeing everyone and answering any questions you might have.

Something small means a lot!!!

As you all know Georga and Conor volunteered in an orphanage in Kenya this summer. The children there do not celebrate Christmas. There is no documentation on most of the children so they do not know when their brithdays are. The orphanage celebrates all of the childrens’ birthdays on 1st January every year.

This year we have organised that a container of toys and clothes will be sent to these children. If you have any clothes which you would be discarding, or any toys that your children no longer use we would be very grateful if you could drop them into us. We are hoping to send all of the toys and clothes by the 20th November. Our goal is that each child will get an outfit that they can call their own, at the moment these children own nothing because they share everything. We are hoping that each child will get a present for their birthday; a doll, a car, a colouring book and crayons, etc… We will also be sending over necessary supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, copy books, pencils, etc….

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. I know it will put a smile on these childrens’ faces.

Hi to all,

Just a quick word to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to all of the people who helped in organising fundraising and especially to all those who generosly donated money towards the children in Moldova. I am back a month and have put together a small slide show to show some of the work that is done and the children that it has helped.

OutReach Moldova (ORM) has been helping these children for the last 10 years. ORM work with children and young adults that have been abandoned or orphaned, children with disabilities and children with chronic and terminal illnesses. Currently they provide integrated multidisciplinary programmes and support services for over 400 children in residential accommodation and temporary residential units.
With the number of volunteers increasing every year this is a positive step forward. If anyone reading or looking at this is remotely touched by what they see and would like to volunteer please do not hesitate in contacting ORM and plan now to make a trip over to see first hand what a difference you can make, no matter how little experience you ay think you have. www.outreachmoldova.org
