Every year after the farming activities were over he would start his journey to Tirupathi. He would offer a major share of the grains, which had grown in his lands and return back after having Darshan of the Lord.

This yearly once darshan was enough for him to cherish the same till the next year. "Oh, Lord of seven Hills", he would call out when ploughing the fields, "Govinda, Govinda" he would call when sowing the seeds, "Balaji, Balaji" he would shout loudly when weeding the fields and "Venkateswara, Venkanna" he would chant when watering the same.

Years dragged slowly when his devotion increased and also his age. Having grown old he was losing the stamina he had for so many years. The harvesting season also neared. With a walking stick in his hand he slowly walked in the fields watching the fully-grown paddy field.

His gait was a slow tired walk. I may not be able to make it to the Hill to see my lord this year. He was getting dejected at the very thought that his health may not permit this trip. How can I miss witnessing the Kalyanotsavam of my Balaji with his consorts?" He was seen worrying all through the day. He would murmur to himself and sigh to himself. He would start weeping uncontrollably sometimes. No one could console him. He would go into a trance sometimes. Slowly he stopped taking food and fell ill. Few days passed like this. One-day early in the morning, he felt like someone waking him up. "Get up my Child!" A radiant figure was standing before him.

It was none other than his beloved deity Balaji. "You need not come to the Seven Hills for seeing me. I have come to you. I am inside an anthill near your fields beside the small Siva Lingam. Only Lord Siva knows my presence. He has been keeping it as a Treasure till now. Now you can take me out and keep seeing me here itself. I am in a single idol with both of my consorts."

To protect temple

Sundhareswara Swamy - Lord Shiva in the form of Linga at Chilukuru Balaji Templs attracts over 60,000 devotees every year. Suresh Sharma Maharaj - Archaka starts Abhishekam at 3.00 am. and also arrange Fruits and MILK for 60,000 devotees for abhishekam at free of cost, devotees wish to participate.

Chilkuru Balaji Temple - Plastic Free Zoneilkuru Balaji Temple.

Not only Environment but also Animals, Birds and Lakes too getting affected by the PLASTIC BAGS.

Devotees are REQUESTED to carry ONLY CLOTH BAGS

Chilkur Balaji is extending his benevolence to weavers. Once this wish comes true, the recipient has to go again and take 108 Pradakshinas.

This is one of the few temples in India which does not accept monetary donations.

Chilkur Balaji temple is one of the most famous temples in Hyderabad area. The nice concept that is implemented in darshan of the Lord Balaji, is that all the devotees must stand in queue with utmost discipline. When people ask for wish from the god here, they have to do 11 pradakshinas and ask their wish with the witness of Lord Anjaneya. When the wish gets fulfilled, they need to do 108 pradakshinas. The 11 pradakshinas have a significant meaning according to the temple priests. When people wish anything from god, mind has to think about only god and one's self i.e 11(1-1) signifies that god takes care of everybody and everybody should understand that.

HISTORY

Set in sylvan surroundings, the temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every year and is an ideal place for sequestered retreat and meditation. It enjoyed in the past, great days of pomp and glory.

The temple is one of the oldest in Telangana, having been built during the time of Akkanna and Madanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramdas. According to tradition, a devotee , Madhav Reddy who used to visit Tirupati every year could not do so on one occasion owing to serious ill-health. Lord Venkateshwara appeared in his dream and said, "I am right here in the jungle nearby. You don't have to worry." The devotee at once moved to the place indicated by the Lord in the dream and saw a mole- hill there, which he dug up. Accidentally, the axe struck Lord Balaji's idol covered by the mole-hill below the chin and on the chest, and surprisingly blood started flowing profusely from the "wounds", flooding the ground and turning it scarlet. The devotee could not believe his eyes when he saw this. Suddenly he could not believe his ears also when he heard a voice from the air which said,"Flood the mole-hill with cow's milk. The unique feature of this idol is that lotus flowers are held in three hands and the fourth hand is in such a position towards the lotus feet which signifies the doctrine of Saranagathi.
About the Temple
Good news for the devotees who are willing to donate to the temple.

Excerpts from Deccan Chronicle: Hundi-less temple gets new scheme

Hyderabad, April 1: Think before donating at Sri Chilkur Balaji temple as the hundi-less temple, which became famous as Viswa Balaji all over AP, will now accept donation only through notified banks. But since many of us go by bus/shared autorikshaws , then the best route is to reach Mehdipatnam from wherever you have put up your accomdation as the frequency of buses to Mehdipatnam is high from almost all parts of the city. And when you reach Mehdipatnam, do take 288D buses which ply almost every half an hour. So your travel becomes easy if you reach Mehdipatnam and there is a good frequency of buses every 30 minutes. Nevertheless, you can catch a shared autorikshaw if you are in a hurry. Visiting early in the morning is however better for anyone who has plans to make 108 pradakshinas, in view of the large crowd of pilgrims.

Directions from Mehdipatnam

From Mehdipatnum, follow the road to Langar house. There are so many Sahasranamas of Vishnu, but among them this happens to be the most cardinal and important one because right from Sankaracharyalu there are so many Sages and Saints who have recited and commented in their own way. Even today, it is recited with the fervor and gaiety in all the temples of Lord Vishnu.

The Chanting of following names of Lord Vishnu, immensely helps us in overcoming the obstacles in our daily life.

1. From the style, structure and appearance, it can be inferred that the temple was built half a millennium ago. Set in sylvan surroundings, the temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every year and is an ideal place for sequestered retreat and meditation. It enjoyed in the past, great days of pomp and glory.

The temple is one of the oldest in Telengana, having been built during the time of Akkanna and Madanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramdas. According to tradition, a devotee who used to visit Tirupati every year could not do so on one occasion owing to serious ill-health. "When the devotee did so, a Swayambhu idol of Lord Balaji accompanied by Sridevi and Bhoodevi(a rare combination) was found, and this idol was installed with the due rites and a temple built for it.

Sri Balaji venkateshwara, the Pratyaksha Daiva in kaliyuga, is thus available at Chilkur to shower blessings on His devotees who for any reason are unable to go to Tirupati. The unique feature of this idol is that lotus flowers are held in three hands and the fourth hand is in such a position towards the lotus feet which signifies the doctrine of Saranagathi.

The temple has been visited by great Acharyas from time to time. A visit to the temple is a must for the Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt every time he visits the twin cities, and in the temple is installed the idol of the first Jeer. The Tilakayaths of Sri Vallabhacharya Sampradaya have been regularly visiting the shrine. Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt and his disciple graced the efforts of the trustees in improving the temple.

temple views

Today many famous and ancient, once glorified temples are in dire situation without minimum Aradhana (rituals) like Dhupa, Dheepa, Naivedhyam. From the ancient period temples holding prime role in preserving and teaching lifestyle and also played vital role in providing education, medical, moral values. Temples are cultural centers which have kept our traditions alive and introduce devotion and faith to generations after generations. We have seen God in its idols, got peace in its environment.

The noblest element in a person is brought out by the technique of spiritual living. It is, thus, not a question of option left to people or a theme to be discussed as to whether it is necessary or unnecessary, for it is the only meaning of all existence. Temples that teach this science and art of life are the spiritual organisations of the world and their existence is naturally a 'must' for the benefit and the peace, plenty and prosperity of mankind.

Due to some departments and few selfish people motives temples have become commercials centers few are totally destructed rest are closed.

Endowment department, a Frankenstein created by us, whose methodology is leading to dilution of the sanctity, and piety of the temples. Authority in hands of different undeserving people (Government) who are just doing their duty as a profession at temples than having bondage with the temple has only created complexities, negligence leading to mismanagement.

These being reasons today 32000 temples are dire situation, minimum aradhana (rituals) like Dhupa, Dheepa, Naivedhyam are not performed.

               1. When one comes to Hyderabad / Secunderabad, quite a large number of buses, taxies, auto-three-wheelers, etc. are available from any place. Chilkuru (or Chilkur) is the name of the tiny village where the temple is located. The nearest places from where one can find buses, taxies etc. in the city leading to Chilkur is MEHDIPATNAM or LANGAR HOUSE. Shared three-wheeler/auto charges are somewhere around Rs. 10-12 per person, one way. Bus charges are also in the range of Rs. 9 or so, one way. Travelling from Mehdipatnam takes about 50-60 minutes. Since the village is very nearby to Hyderabad city, coming back to the city by night is recommended for outstation pilgrims.

Balaji Temple

Chilkur Balaji Temple popularly known as Visa Balaji Temple or Visa God (Telugu: చిలుకూరు బాలాజీ గుడి), is an ancient Hindu temple of Lord Balaji on the banks of Osman sagar lake near Hyderabad, India.
