But you’ll never expect that the billionaire and his wife would be accidentally captured by the CCTV on the street as bystanders when recording a documentary serial.

Interestingly, the government-run TV station did not “block” the couple as the government blocking Facebook for censorship.

Instead of appearing as a “nasty 404 error,” Mark Zuckerberg was seen with a big smile on his face on CCTV’s Chinese Police Documentary, which was just aired recently.

Chinese netizens were quite amazed, and quickly spread the video clip showing the very coincident moment on the websphere. They called the couple “the most powerful by-standers in the history.”

By cooperating with their counterparts in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Fiji, Chinese mainland and Taiwanese law enforcement officers successfully cracked down a large transnational crime ring operating a telecom scam on mainland, and seized a total of 482 people involved in the operations, with 177 from Chinese mainland, 286 from Taiwan and 19 from Thailand and Myanmar.

On May 24, a first batch of 126 suspects from Chinese mainland were transferred to mainland police by Malaysian and Thai police on the two chartered flights.

The gang is believed to have swindled Chinese mainlanders out of 73 million yuan in 510 telecom scams from 2010 to 2011.

“The fraud case unraveled in November, when a financial manager surnamed Sha from an investment company in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu province, reported to local police that she had been swindled for 12.6 million yuan through telephone fraud,” according to China Daily.

The criminal suspects pretended to be local police officers, and then staff from an anti-money laundering special work team too, to make Sha transfer the company’s financial fund to a “safe” designated account.

Check out the photos below of suspects being handed over to Chinese police.

The local police of Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province were blocked by thousands of angry residents for over 2 hours yesterday, after they accidentally hurt two kids when using pepper spray against the crowd.

According to eye-witnesses, in the beginning the police officers confronted with an elderly couple, after the couple’s electronic tricycle they used to collect garbage to earn their living was confiscated by the officers during a crack-down against illegal scooters in front of a market center of the Zhuhai City.

The police subdued the old couple in confrontation, which however resulted in a protest from the local residents.

When more and more people joined in, the police used the pepper spray to try to disperse the surrounding crowd, but it accidentally hit one 10-year-old boy and one 2-year-old baby girl.

The pepper spray is considered dangerous. It could cause temporary blindness and even death, according to previous cases.

A large cruise ship as tall as a seven-storey building hit a bridge in Wenzhou City on May 23, when it was being dragged by four tugboats to pass through the bridge on Oujiang River.

With a loud bang, the luxury liner Pearl No. 7 lost its chimney and left a mark on the bridge. But no casualties were reported at the moment.

It was said the luxury cruise ship that is equipped with shopping mall, entertainment center and restaurants and can hold more than a thousand tourists a time had its sea trial on May 22.

The incident is believed to be caused by miscommunications of the liner’s height.

Some netizens satirized the Wenzhou bridge is not shabby this time, while some others warned people to be careful over the safety of the bridge now after the collision.

Yang Rui, the host of Dialogue on CCTV International, has caused a huge wave of controversy, especially in the western media, for his remarks on his Sina Weibo account calling foreigners “trash,” and “spies.”

The English-speaking host’s post came amid Chinese government’s 100-day crackdown campaign against illegal foreigners in Beijing, and the disturbed feelings online provoked by two recent videos showing expats behaving terribly (British citizen molesting a Chinese woman in Beijing street, and Russian cellist insulting a Chinese woman on a train).

Yang was thus accused of fanning the flames of racism, and being an xenophobe.

He was also satirized as doing a great job as a communist party mouthpiece for his support behind the 100-day campaign.

Many web users were seen as well flocking to Yang Rui’s microblog to demand for his dismissal, to which People Daily did not support however, by citing a previous case that CNN host Jack Cafferty was not sacked by CNN either for calling Chinese people “basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they’ve been for the last 50 years” in a TV show in April 2008.

Yang’s post has been removed, but you can read a full translation of the post by The Wall Street Journal here:

“The Public Security Bureau wants to clean out the foreign trash: To arrest foreign thugs and protect innocent girls, they need to concentrate on the disaster zones in the [student district] Wudaokou and [drinking district] Sanlitun. Cut off the foreign snake heads. People who can’t find jobs in the US and Europe come to China to grab our money, engage in human trafficking and spread deceitful lies to encourage emigration. Foreign spies seek out Chinese girls to mask their espionage and pretend to be tourists while compiling maps and GPS data for Japan, Korea and the West. We kicked out that foreign bitch and closed Al-Jazeera’s Beijing bureau. We should shut up those who demonize China and send them packing.”

Responding to the controversy caused by his remarks and accusations against him, Yang then sent a statement to The Wall Street Journal:

For a long time, many young Chinese took it for granted that Westerners are well-educated and polite since they come from industrial nations, where the rule of law prevails. Most of them are friendly. They travel, do business and make a living here honestly. But, some are not, as a number of recent videos involving the apparent attempted rape of a young Chinese girl on one of the main streets of our capital and the disrespect shown to a middle aged woman on a Chinese train.

The sensational nature of the empowered new media means that some isolated events can ignite strong public reactions. After looking at these incidents I termed these expats “foreign trash,” and I believe they should be brought to justice if they are found to have violated our laws. I want to separate them from the silent majority in the expat communities who obey and respect our culture and society. Singling out these Foreign Trash serves to protect the good reputation of decent Westerners. My posting of May 16 is a wake-up call. Western and Chinese, no one should be above the law.

In writing my blog that day I was reacting to the cyber videos I saw and used an unfortunate example, a group whom I percived to be hostile to China and its people, whom had been recently expelled from China. It was a reaction of the moment and nothing more. The more serious part of the accusations against me is the mischaracterization of what I said in Chinese; pofu (泼妇) if you look it up on Jinshan Ciba (金山词霸), one of the most popular Chinese traslation sites, and A Chinese English Dictionary (汉英词典; Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Third Edition, Jan, 2010) means “shrew.”

I hope this will put this issue to rest for those who are willing to listen.

Recently, a Weibo post revealing a 3-year-old girl was punished by her female teacher by inserting a kidney bean into her vagina aroused an uproar online.

The microblog post said the girl’s parents did not realize it until they sent their daughter to the hospital to take out the bean, 4 days after the bean was inserted by the female teacher, in her 20s, from the Gelin Shuangyang Kindergarten in Yangpu district, Shanghai on May 11.

The parents learned that the girl was punished by the teacher because she did not go with other children for the games at the playground.

The local police have launched an investigation into the horrific case. But there is no result yet so far, according to the victim’s parents.

Chinese netizens condemned the teacher’s sick and abnormal behavior, while they felt confused over her intention. “If it was done by a male teacher, he could be believed to have sexual perversion,” said a netizen.

A middle school of Gongyi City, Henan Province ridiculously gave three different explanations to the public in the same day, after its students were captured kneeling before the national flag in hot weather as a punishment stirring up a wave of controversy online.

First of all, at 11 a.m. of May 21, an officer of the school told the local media that the photo was a fakery, and the report was fabricated.

Then at 13 p.m., when CNTV reporter reached a director of the school, sunamed He, he said the students were actually cleaning the playground.

In the late afternoon, Gongyi City’s propaganda department gave the third explanation for the school after investigating the incident: over 20 students forgot to bring their earphones when attending an English exam which had the listening test as its first part, so in order not to disturb other students during the listening test they were told to do push-ups on the playground before resuming the exam.

The middle school’s principal has confirmed the third explanation, adding that they would hold a meeting to criticize the teachers involved and prevent similar punishments to students from happening again. In the same time, the principal defended the first two explanations too claiming that the two officers were not familiar with the incident.
