I was invited to experience Paris in one night thru the Bizu blogger event last September 7, 2011.

It was indeed a night to remember. French Cuisine is originated in Paris, France. The French Cuisine is also known to be European Dining; you will be served with multiple courses or meals. Paris is also known for pastries, the dessert and sweet treats that we enjoy.

Pastries here in the Philippines are now achievable thru Bizu Patisserie.

Bizu, which came from the French word Bisous meaning kiss or beso, has managed to change the pastry landscape in Manila as it introduced artisan cakes (unique, handmade, and delicately designed cakes) in personal sizes that are both appealing to the eye and the palate. It was the first patisserie to bring in cakes with modern flavors, textures and forms not yet known or experienced by many Filipinos.

Our Le diner (dinner) consists of 3 courses.

Our hors d'œuvre or entrée is soup and salad,

our plat principal or main course is roast beef and

dessert is a combination of cakes and pastries.

French Onion Soup, classic onion jus braised with balsamic vinegar, croutons, and gruyere cheese

Truffle Salad, warm mushroom with asparagus, truffle jus dressing on mesclun

10-Hour U.S. Roast Beef, slow-cooked USDA beef belly, potato gratin, grilled vegetable, horseradish and mushroom espagnole

Trio Desserts, Strawberry Chiboust, Opera Cake, and Macaron de Paris (Lemon)

During our stay in Bizu we were not only filled with delicious dishes but we were only given Kodak Cameras. These are not digital cameras, mind you, these are manual cameras , we were asked to take pictures of the “joyful moments”. They will develop the pictures and will post it in their facebook page. The gimik is their on-going photo contest, Joie devivre Photo Contest - a French term which means “The Joy of Living”, a photo contest that seeks to capture life’s joyful moments. Bizu, now celebrating 10 good years of joyful living , is inviting you to join and share your own captures of joyful moments.

Before we head home from a Paris inspired evening, we were given sweet treat to take home. Macarons de Paris was first introduced here in Manila by Bizu and since then it was a sweet hit! I so loved the personalized note that comes with my macarons. Thank you Bizu, it was indeed a memorable night for me.

Bakersville Hand-made Bagels

It was my mom and dad who introduced me to eating bread in the morning, since then I love hot pandesal with butter and a hot cup of coffee for my breakfast. Breads nowadays is more than just Pandesal, I recently tried a hand-made Bagel given to me by a friend. I was given two packs, one plain Bagel and the other one, topped with black and white poppy seeds.

The instruction that was given to me by my friend is to re-heat it in the toaster instead of microwave. I love the crispy and a bit salty exterior of the Bagel and the soft and chewy interior. I even place butter and garlic powder on my second plain bagel and loved it even more. I wish I tried jam or cream cheese or even ham and cheese! I will do it next time.

Bakersville Bagel is found in Mercato Centrale, and costs p100 per pack. I believe that delicious and healthy food is always worth your money. The same goes for this Bagel.

My love for eating caused me to start this food blog and hopefully start learning how to cook too. My cooking skills though are limited only to frying, sautéing and boiling. I can prepare simple meals with the help of cooking books and online recipes. Just recently, I attended an event in that does not only teach me valuable lessons about cooking, but also lessons on food and its nutrition, Magsaysay Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Arts or MIHCA is the hosted the place for the event.

The Great Dole Cook Off is a launch of the Dole Philippines Tomato Sauce. Dole, being the world’s largest producer and marketer of highly fresh fruits and vegetables and packaged foods, has committed itself to further health and nutrition in their wide array of quality products such as canned pineapple solids, canned mixed fruits, canned beverages and packaged fruit snacks.

I was a bit late and when I arrived it was almost the second half of the program. The event was divided into 2-segments, cooking demonstration and cook-off between the bloggers. Chef Jeremy Favia demonstrated two easy-to-cook culinary delights with Dole’s new line of tomato sauces.

I was surprised that there are other dishes that delight into tomato sauces other than pasta. Chef Jeremy did not only give tips on cooking pasta and sautéing spices but also the nutrition of the ingredients of the dishes. The two dishes are very easy to prepare and cook. Chef Jeremy demonstrated how to use tomato sauce in pasta and even in fish thru these two dishes he prepared, Cherry Tomato and Eggplant Ragu Penne and Dory Braised in Tomato Sauce.

DOLE Tomato Sauce is naturally rich in lycopene, Vit A, Vit C and is a good source of Vit K which promotes good eyesight, builds resistance to infection and healthy blood functions. The sun-riped cooked tomatoes found in the flavorful sauce have up to five times more of the antioxidant Lycopene than fresh tomatoes. I know always think of these every time there’s tomato sauce on my food. Haha!

After the cooking demo, the bloggers were challenged to demonstrate their cooking skills in the cook-off competition. They are to imitate the first dish and make it the finest dish among the others.

Among the 5 blogger contestants, Enzo’s dish favored the judges’ taste buds and won! Congrats Enzo!

It was indeed a healthy and informative night, not to mention delicious event, for bloggers.

There were two chefs from Fonterra that was invited to give a little talk about their products and their service to Yellow Cab. The dairy that Fonterra has like the Cheese, Milk/Cream, and Butter are on of the all fresh and natural ingredients in Yellow Cab’s pizza and pasta. I learned the different kind of cheese and I somehow picked up how to make cheese, the natural way.

My family uses Anchor Butter all the time and it’s perfect with the dishes mom prepares for us. We grew up with Anchor Butter in our fridge. And now that Anchor has culinary cream, my mom will definitely enjoy preparing food for us because of the wide us of cream.We were told that the cheese used in Yellow Cab's Pizza is from Fonterra also.

The night of course will not be prefect without having a taste of Yellow Cab’s signature dishes from pizza to pasta. The table was filled with pizza and it was such a feast!

Yellow Cab also gave us the chance to visit the kitchen, watch how to prepare a Four Season Pizza and also gave us the opportunity to make our very own pizza! I will blog about it on a different post. For the meantime, enjoy the pizzas!

Everybody loves to eat, but not everybody can cook, like me. Good thing there are cookbooks, recipe books, and cooking TV shows. Good thing there is Asian Food Channel, the region’s first 24-hour food channel dedicated to airing the best food and lifestyle programming from around the region and the world.

I was invited to attend an event that showcases the best in Asian Food fare and feast in Avenue Hall, Makati last August 13, 2011.

Eats Asia 3: Thrice as Delish is an annual event and this year is hosted by Asian Food Channel and is partnered by country's # 1 cable provider, SKY Cable.

The appetizing culinary and food expo this year was participated in by renowned and respected culinary schools in the country, GCIC (Chinese dishes), Institute of Culinary Arts and Food Service (Korean dishes) CSB ( Vietnamese dishes), MOST Institute (Japanese dishes), Enderun and CCA (Filipino dishes).

The different schools prepared sumptuous dishes, depending on their assigned country, for the guests. It was a fun food expo as the guests explored and really had to journey from one “country” to another to have their food stubs signed and of course taste the dish. Once completed, the food stub turns into raffle stubs. Sadly though, I did not win.

The event was hosted by Karen Pamintuan and together with Bjorn Ching.

We also witnessed cooking demos from world distinguished chefs, including Chef Laudico’s very own, Chef Jackie Laudico.

There was a Gyudon Eating contest before the event finished. The first batch of candidates are from the guests to which Angel joined. The candidates will eat the Gyudon and first to finish will be the winner. The second and third batch came from the students in the participating schools.

Besides from the schools that prepared delectable dishes, the guests also experienced mouth-watering savories, sweets and thirst quenchers from Chef Laudico, Adobo Republic, Coffee Beaner, Yoshinoya, Nestle D Lite Cream, and Nestea – all for free! The event was supported by BDO, Selecta, San Marino, Lady’s Choice, Knorr, Cusinart, Fax Parcel N Print and Bannaple.

I truly enjoyed a one of a kind culinary celebration. Eats Asia 3: Thrice as Delish absolutely captures Asia, with the AFC flare!

After Angel and I attended an event courtesy of Perlas and Luna, we spent some time chillin’ in Greenbelt since we will not see each other this weekend. It was a good thing I still have some vouchers which I purchased online and luckily we have a Cold Rock Voucher courtesy of Metrodeal.

Angel’s family and I were looking for a place to dine, one Sunday evening. We passed by Galleria and I told them that I wanted to try Papa John’s Pizza because of the good things I have been hearing about it, too bad though we are going to Megamall.

When we arrived to Megamall, it was to my surprised that they already opened Papa John’s there. So problem solved. We were of course in line because of the several people who want to also eat at Papa John’s. The place is a bit small and “masikip” children can’t really run around the area.

Papa John’s Pizza, the third largest pizza chain in the world with 3,500 restaurants in the United States and Philippines is the second country in Asia where Papa John’s Pizza is present, the first being Malaysia.

We didn’t order much; we just wanted to try their pizza. I say that when the Pepperoni Pizza is good, then their pizza is good. So we just ordered their Pepperoni Pizza, together with a pasta and 2 finger food.

Cream of Mushroom (p49)

Pasta Bolognese with Meatballs (195) - we were told that this is their pasta specialty. The serving is for one person only. This applies to all their pasta too.

Potato Wedges (p90) - a bit expensive for a single serving side item, nothing special. The sauce is different though as you can choose either garlic sauce or pizza sauce.

Chicken Strips (p169) 4 pcs. - white chicken breast fillet with you choice of dipping too.

You might be surprised, the pizza comes in with Garlic Butter Sauce and Pepperoncini or the jalapeno. This is eating pizza, the Papa John's way. You may bite the pepperoncini first before the pizza or the other way around. I like dipping my crust in the butter sauce. Awesome.

Classic Pepperoni (290p small) - The pizza has a generous amount of pepperoni slices and the chewy thick crust tastes really good. It has a distinct flavor I can't quite explain.

Their tagline "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza" really shows in their food servings. The dough used for their hand-tossed original crust is prepared with finest ingredients such as high-protein flour and clear-filtered water. The secret on their special sauce is that it is all natural! It's made from fresh-packed tomatoes, not from concentrated.

I enjoyed Papa John's Pizza! I will definitely go back to try other pizza, specially the Ultimate Super Papa's!

3. Post a photo with you and at least 1 (one) family member or friend (more people in the picture, the better) and choose the category/categories you would like to join. Tag 5 (five) of your friends on the actual post as well. Include a short caption to describe your entry. Start your caption with the CATEGORY you are joining: 80s, 90s, Year 2000, and the Present Day. Not placing the intro caption shall deem the entry as invalid.

Entries will be accepted from June 30, 2011 (12:01am) to July 27, 2011 (11:59pm). Judging will be on July 28 and Announcement of Winners will be on August 1. All entries submitted shall become property of San Miguel Corporation and maybe used for future activities without prior notice.

Be as creative as you can with the photo entry and continuing the caption as it will be judged with the following criteria:
Criteria for judging:

Photo creativity: 50%

Caption creativity: 30%

Number of likes: 20%

Top 10% per category - 20%

Top 20-50% per category – 15%

Top 51-75% per category – 10%

Top 76-100% per category – 5%

The judges’ decision will be final.

D. Category D (PRESENT DAY): Nintendo 3DS

REDEMPTION MECHANICS: 1. Tender Juicy will contact each winner via Facebook private message/email. Winners will also be announced on the Tender Juicy fan page 1 week after the judging.
2. Metro Manila winners are required to personally claim and sign papers for his/her prizes and are required to present 1 government issued Id only and print-out of the email.

In case of provincial winners, the transaction maybe done via scanned signing of papers or having a proxy to claim the prize, provided that the proxy has an authorization letter and a photocopy of a valid ID of the official winner.

Accepted identification cards are as follows:

• Passport
• SSS ID
• TIN ID
• Driver's License
• Voter's ID
• Postal ID
• Philhealth ID

I.D.s not specified here will not be honored.
