Toowomba Flower Festival

Hi All,

Last weekend we had taken a little break to visit Toowoomba Flower Festival. It's a nice and easy 2 days trip. Toowoomba is a garden city. Once we arrived, I have been attracted with the tidy planted trees along the road, they are like huge broccoli haaa ...

Eng and I too have a great time together. Sometime it is good to take a break from your daily routine and enjoy the golden sunshine and beautiful greenery, take a fresh breath in the open nature.

Hello Lovelies !

Hi all,

It has been a year since we moved in to this house. Still working on the garden though and need to get new curtain, probably a dishwasher too, and ... the list never end. Remember once we met a friend he said when you own a house no matter how long you take, the list will be still growing. I think it is purely because it is our HOME that's why, we love our space so we make it a better place. :)

How has everyone been ? me? , ... nothing much changes. We went back to Penang visited our family for 2 weeks. Still miss them so so much, the feeling is more and more intense. This is the hardest part.

Back to Gold Coast, in August, we participated in Bridge to Brisbane 10km Run! Can't imagine the crowd could be that packed ! With little or say zero training .. I am quite happy with my result. I completed the 10km in 1 Hour 4 Minutes. I could do better if I didn't stop for photos. Haaa but what's the purpose of the run if I didn't stop to admire the beautiful scenery and how others run the breath out.

In work, we're delighted to have completed couple of lightboxes for singer/song writer Nick Howard, Brooklyn, USA and music media house Pitchfork Media in New York, USA. With our works mostly delivered to the US, sometimes I am thinking is my move to Australia a right choice ? hmm .. just have this funny thoughts pops up. no no no .. don't worry we are not moving again.

Since moving to the sunshine state, Queensland, I have no one day lack of vitamin D. haaa..

We drop by Regatta Lake near by our house before breakfast. Beautiful sun ray touches every leafs. Love the lake on the quiet morning like this.

Not only me.. but the doggies too. They even like an early morning dip.

I would say it's a good morning walk at Regatt Lake. Drop by if you are in Coomera area. The evening is beautiful too, the sky is spectacular colored by the sunset.

First Quarter of 2016

Papa and mama came to stay with us for 2 weeks! Have had the greatest moment with them. Only miss them more ... ** sob sob ** But I am going to see them again in July .. real soon in Penang ;) .

Visited Ean last weekend. And have had a wonderful time with my little niece and nephew. See how adorable she is... and the never ending Birthday song.

I'm 44. Can't imagine how quick time passes by.

what do I achieve ? well from a soft weak girl I am now a stronger woman, from not able to do a kneeling pumping now I can do 10 complete pumping easily and going .. and from I couldn't even complete a 1 km run now I run 10km in 62minutes .. from a frequent lay on bed migraine patient now I rarely have a headache .. from one who not willing to wake up for the day now wake up 6am everyday without alarm clock kicking start the day with yummy breakfast .. will continue to enjoy my cooking enjoy my work and enjoy my workout!

And. here are some latest changes to our home ..

Finally Here We Are ...

After long sought, here we are .. HOME 家.

It's now one and a half month since we moved in 1/9/2015, lots of work have been done. re-painting the wall, changing floor board, clearing the garden .... fixing up cupboards, tables ...etc. and still there is still a lot to upkeep .. here are some in progress photo.

In this one and a half month, besides upkeep our home, I have been busy with our online shops, Bingkai and Warnaa. More and more custom order requests, there has been some challenging one but all worked out perfectly. Happy customers. :)

Also we have booked our flight to Penang for Chinese New Year this 23/Jan and also have booked the mid year trip too in July. Can't wait to see my family. First time, that I am away from family for more than one year.

I promise to share more photo of our home when she is more ready.

We're Moving Again ...

Hi All,

Life is full of excitement. And, best of all you won't know what is next awaits you.

Last year this date, we were packing in Geelong and moving to Gold Coast. And, this year today we are packing again but this round we are moving in to our own place here in Gold Coast.

workshop has been all cleared and packed ready to go!

We are too excited ! We will have our own wall where we can put nails to it to hang our artwork wherever we want ! Love to have the freedom.

This is a little milestone that we achieve so far after arriving in Australia. Yay!

Hi All,

It has been a busy week and it was a great one !

And it is even lovelier to see ROMANCE is heading to her new home in Virginia, USA. This is the best motivation for me to move further in this journey. Thank you so much.

And, in Bingkai we have completed a custom order for a company in Perth. It's a repeating order! How good is that! She would like us to hand-paint "PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED" signs for her restaurant, in a rustic off white background with black lettering. Framed with Tasmanian Oak frame dark stained with Teak Brown. Completes with a slim LED lights for economical long hour of running.

On the other hand, another exciting project! we hand-dyed the electrical cord to complete this cute little Tripod Table Lamp. The lamp shade is paper mache made from recycled newspaper. It's now listed on our Etsy store, please click here to read more about the table lamp. Please let us know what you think about it!

Hi all,

This is just a random post .. a little bit of this and that :)

Cooler weather now that I could spend more time in the studio which is in our garage.

Have just completed Grace. I always dream to be able to dance gracefully ... well more of an imaginary thoughts. And, in my painting, my peacock would always have the grace to dance in its beautiful garden.

Also visited Fingal Head little light house. Absolute beautiful scenery, and we were welcome by a family of dolphins.

Some Vintage Chairs Restoration

Hi All,

Life is interesting !

I have a little project last week, restoring a few vintage chairs. Cleaning up, sanding down, waxing all round and upholstering the cushion ! And now I am in love with this beauties.

They are of the bentwood chairs, one of Ton's design. Which was imported and assembled by James Richardson in NSW.

Let me show you a bit of how they looks like when I first picked them up. Looks kind of miserable wasn't he.

Kick Start 2015 !

Hi All,

We have been with our family in Malaysia for the past 3 weeks celebrating the new year 2015. Also, this trip back to Penang, I have had the most wonderful moments accompanying my niece to her first week in primary school. A new stage for her to start exploring a whole new world. My parents and I were at her school every recess. Happy to see her smile.

And now, I am back in Gold Coast. Continuing my journey. As you guys might have noticed I have not been painting for awhile. Yes, I miss painting so much but I have been tied up with my kind of 'day job'. Eng and I have been putting our mind in designing and creating light boxes and lighting for Bingkai and warnaa. After moving to Gold Coast, we have decided to run our business purely online, turning our garage into a home studio. Also, Bingkai and warnaa is now selling via Etsy. Time and effort spent is worthwhile, Eng and I are very happy with the result. We have been getting heaps of orders not only from local but overseas. And, we are getting custom order request for light boxes. warnaa lighting also is gaining good response although it is just 3 months old. Our pendant and lighting table stands have been delivered to UK, Spain, Norway, German ... in the past months.

Things are shaping up slowly and we are feeling good!

First to share is I sold my original peacock textured acrylic painting, "Flourish" over the weekend. And am totally flattered with the comments from the buyers :

and on Etsy review, Karen has also wrote me a beautiful review:

Guess What?! ... We're Moving to GOLD COAST, Queensland!

After 1 year and 10 months in Geelong, we are moving again! Though I love living in Geelong, but it's time to move on for the next stage of life.

Seems like 3 years in Australia, we have stayed in 3 different states. Start with ACT, Victoria and now Queensland.

We have chosen Gold Coast in Queensland. I think its beauty of nature and relaxed lifestyle would suit us. Have been visiting Brisbane, but not sure if we could cope with the busy city life.

Eng has been started getting some sub-contracting job in Gold Coast and leaving me alone here in Geelong. How easy he just get by .. haa.. always be the clever one. Here I am alone packing and packing and packing in 10/12 Cedar Grove, Highton; selling most of our furniture and keep only personal effects, some really old albums, books, my artworks and Bingkai's collections. Which we are going to fit all in Belingo! hmm.. I am still cracking my head on how to make this possible. Eng will be back on the 23/8 to join me. Finalizing on our lease here, then we will be making a big drive from Geelong to Gold Coast.

Oh yes, last weekend I have a little walk from Rutland Street to Pakington Street. Looking back on how Bingkai started and moved out from Rutland St. Heart feel sinking ... though the move means another good start but still it is hard ..

So Bingkai Geelong is all starts here. .. this number to call.

And.. Bingkai last seen here in Rutland Street, Newtown, Geelong.

And next ... we will be in Gold Coast!

New Work : Mysterious 13 x 30 inch

Hi All,

Welcome back! Have been really excited on this piece. Abstract, mysterious, deep sea odyssey or outer space perhaps .. just me .. my mind has been going flying away.

Getting my feet back on earth ... ;) .. life is still going on here in Geelong. It has been 1.5 years since we moved here. Since then .. we are busy running Bingkai, exploring around the region (Barwon Head, Portarlington, 12 Apostle, Apollo Bay, Ballarat, ...), away for couple of family visits, creating a few new products (i.e. recycled timber frame, light boxes, chalk board etc. .. check us out at Bingkai Etsy, please if you can follow us... ), trying new food (i mean cooking new recipe, I promise will try to share them here soon.) .. ;) lots of attempts and trying in this new life. Honestly speaking it hasn't been easy. But it is a chapter of my life that puts my life to a different passage.

Oh my my... "An Affair of Love" is SOLD!

All this while, this piece has been my favourite. I have put in lots of time, effort and love to it. And I am glad that she is now heading to her good new home in Arlington, USA. I really hope that one day I could make a visit to the States after my paintings. ;)

New Year New Attempt: Dance Figurative Painting - Leaps

I have always wanted to be able to dance freely, jump expansively in the air, move over the beats of the music... an impulsive art form. Well, I haven't actually attempted serious dancing haa just been doing some Zumba lately, and I did attempt on some dance figurative paintings. Sharing with you here, Leaps. Would love to have your comments.

So it is 2014 ! how was your Christmas and holidays break?

Eng and I haven't been doing much, we just drove around Geelong region and have had a fun day out at Ballarat and Daylesford.

And have also making some Man Tou haa.. surprisingly it is so soft, fluffy and bouncy! We love it! Thanks to Yi Reservation for the recipe! In the recipe Yi was using the bread machine, but I just hand knead. It is good for some workout haa... I do enjoy kneading.

Universe - New Work - Rangoli Pattern Textured Painting

Ho ho ho..

December! It's Christmas .. and also it's our birthday .. 4 Dec is mine and 6 Dec is Eng's. It is my 42th birthday, imagine 42th birthday, my nephew was trying to count with his little fingers and messing up with the numbers haaa.. that's too hard for the little one who has just had his 6th birthday.

On my birthday, as a present for myself, I have completed Universe! There's been a long journey to this date and I have enjoyed every bits of it, ups and downs and the scenery along. I feel grateful for all the opportunities and challenges made available for me to attempt on, making my life truly interesting. The opportunity is never ending if you do not stop looking.

"The Rising Peacock" Risen !

I had been contacted by Suparna Partners on incorporating an image of my painting "The Rising Peacock" on their website. After a few discussion, we have worked on a licensing agreement and "The Rising Peacok" is now on Suparna Partners website and also related materials (such as handouts, slide presentations, and business cards). Suparna Partners is a business consulting company in Wisconsin, U.S.A. They have recently taught in India and have strong connections to Indian culture from way back. Suparna, is a divine bird from the Vedic traditions. Several of my paintings seem to capture the essence of this divine bird. And they have chosen "The Rising Peacock" and said that, "We all agree that your work is just beautiful, and this image in particular fits perfectly with what we do."

And, this is how "The Rising Peacock" risen on Suparna's website header. A little changes on the orientation is agreed upon our discussion.

I am happy with how it turns out.

Highton - the Suburb where I Stay

It is spring again, Eng and I have start to get more outdoor fun now, going for a jog and cycling along Barwon River.

And last week we just found out that Buckley Falls is just nearby! A weir and water race was built above the fall to supply power to the Fyansford Paper Mill in 1876.

Oh by the way, I have done a bit of baking lately too.. let me show you my chocolate butter marble cake !! (sorry ignore the one sitting behind the cake) .. thanks to BBC Good Food recipe ;) it is yum!

Haa.. I better stop bragging ..
