T.I and Tiny reveal they are expecting a baby

Rapper T.I and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle made an exciting announcement Christmas evening that they're expecting a baby!

The future arrival will be the longtime couple's third child together, as they are parents to Clifford "King" Joseph Harris III and Major Philant Harris. Tiny gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, Leyah Amore Harris on March 22, 2007, six months into her pregnancy.

T.I. has two older sons, Messiah Ya'Majesty Harris and Domani Uriah Harris, and a daughter named Deyjah Imani Harris from previous relationships.

FG removes fuel susidy

Minister of State for Petroleum , Dr Ibe Kachikwu during a tour of the Port Harcourt refinery on Christmas Day said that the Federal government is working to reduce the pump price of petrol to about 85 or 86 naira per litre by Jan 1st.

He said efforts were on to get the refinery to achieve 60 percent production capacity and to supply about 11 million liters of petrol daily.

“If you look at the new PPPRA template that we developed and which I just signed off two days ago, when it is announced you will find out that for now ,and I use the emphatic word of the President for now, the price of the refined product will actually be lower than 87 naira, It will be 85. We will probably announce that in January if the prices hold.

“Like I said, we have done a modulation calculation and it is showing us below N87. I imagine that if PPPRA publishes it today, it will become effective immediately. But the 1st of January that is when we are looking at.”

“What that does for you is that its modulating. If it goes up you move up, if it comes down you come down. So we take away the fact of having to go find funds to pay for these subsidies that we cannot afford.

“More importantly we try to be as close to the pump price that we have now as possible,” he said.

I literally stood for two hours to get fuel from the gas station yesterday, after driving to all the gas stations in Ajah. It was horrible, the traffic no be here. I was so dehydrated; I almost fainted. In fact, if you leave the queue to go pee, you are out of the line.

I read from an online newspaper this morning that the fuel situation will continue till December. Initially, I thought that the government wanted to reduce the fuel pump rate to 57 naira, Now, I don’t understand ooo. Hopefully, I will get fuel today; I will be taking my 30 litres water gallon along with me.

An open letter that was posted to Facebook yesterday urged people not to 'lay blame at the doors of the innocent' and has since gained widespread attention in the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks .

Leigh Matthews, from Cardiff, posted his feelings about anti-Muslim sentiments following the attacks on his Facebook page earlier yesterday.

It has since been shared over 42,500 times.
In the open letter, he reminds readers that: "The people behind last night's attacks weren't Muslims, they were extremists using religion as vindication for their cowardice."

Seun left her hostel last week Sunday to visit her boyfriend and that was the last time she was seen alive. “Seun Adaramoye was an 100 level accounting student, she stayed in Stadium area around Lawyer Ahmed Junction, she’s a hostel mate and also my friend. On Sunday evening (16th of June), we were all gisting outside the hostel as we normally do and around 5pm, Seun just said she’s coming and left. She was on casual outfits like all of us, so we thought she had gone to the junction to buy stuffs but she went to her best friend’s place not far from the hostel.

“When Seun was leaving her best friend’s apartment, she told her that she wants to quickly get to her boyfriend’s place in Oke-Anu around 7pm on that same Sunday evening and that was the last time we both saw Seun.

“We didn’t even notice on time that she hasn’t returned cos she’s a female and no one can monitor a grown lady, so we assume that she should be with her boyfriend Lanre(REAL NAME) not until wednesday morning when Seun refused to show up for her last paper. Her friend came to check on her in the hostel and it was then that she informed us that Seun is no where to be found, we searched and searched for Seun but all to no avail.

On Thursday morning, we decided to report her dissappearance to the school authorities, that was when we heard the news of a dead body which was discovered at the back of Jastok Guest House…On getting there, we couldn’t identify the body because several parts of her body had been cut off, her breast, one hand, half her head was gone. We were eventually able to recognise Seun by her hairdo and mark on her leg, her birth mark and the remains of her cloth on the body.

So the police and the SUG were invited and they went after the boyfriend who had obviously absconded, so he has not been arrested as been speculated but his best friend was arrested. People thought he was arrested because of the search and the arrest of his best friend but he hasn’t been found till now, he’s gone into exile…On Searching Lanre’s house, the police found mysterious things like Calabash, Ladies Bra, Panties, Nails and several underwears.

Our friend Seun was NEVER a runs girl, she was a very gentle and loving soul, she was just unlucky to have fallen a victim of some desperate souls. She has since been buried by her brother here in Ogbomosho because the body was already decaying with worms all over and moreover it’s an uncompleted body and they won’t bury her like that in her hometown…May Her Soul RIP Forever”

A 200level Mathematics student of the University of Benin known as Snazzy was shot in the head by an unknown gun man around 2pm yesterday afternoon during the biometrics registration held in the university sports complex.

Eye witnesses say the gunman dropped the gun and disappeared into the crowd before he could be identified. Snazzy was immediately rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. Don't know for sure if he died or survived. Will update as soon as I have confirmation.

A scrap plane formerly owned by the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries, Ajah, Lagos, caused panic in the city on Thursday as rumour spread that another aircraft had crashed in Lagos.

It was learnt that the plane, which was recently released to Capt Matthew Ekeinde, husband of Nollywood star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, was being dragged to Badagry area of the state before its tyre burst. The incident forced the new owner to dump the plane in a nearby filling station.

Hundreds of residents trooped out with their smart phones and camera, and queued behind the gate of Dapsey Oil filling station at Igando where the plane was parked.

A senior employee of the filling station said the plane, with registration number N972TF, was being towed from Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja to Badagry when one of the tyres burst.

He said, “The plane was brought here around 2am after one of its tyres burst. It was being towed by a red vehicle, but after it got to Igando, they discovered it would be difficult to get it to its destination with burst tyre, which was why they brought it here.”

The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the police provided escort for the plane.

He said, “About 12.45am, the command got a directive to escort the jet from MMIA Ikeja to Badagry by road.

“The operation was led by one Capt. Matthew Ekeinde, but in the process of the journey, one of the jet’s tyres burst at College Bus Stop and the jet could not move.

“It was parked at Dapsey Filling Station along Igando for repairs. We have provided security for the plane until it is moved to Badagry.”

PUNCH Metro observed that men of The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were on the ground to “ensure the safety of people” living in the area.

The Igando Divisional Police Officer, Adeoye Olugbemiga, came with his team around 12pm to control on-lookers.

In a short time, some of the residents turned the scene into an amusement park and began to pose and take shots near the plane.

One of our correspondents observed that the plane’s two wings had been chopped off and the cockpit was stuffed with nylons.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Nnamdi Udoh, in a statement, said the aircraft had long been within the agency’s facility till Wednesday night when it was removed.

Udoh said, “The aircraft that was sighted by the residents was actually a junk one belonging to the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries.

“The aircraft was actually released to Capt Ekeinde who will be using it for educational purposes in Badagry, Lagos.”

Ekeinde confirmed on the telephone that the scrap plane belonged to him.

He said, “The aircraft will be situated in a multipurpose and entertainment centre which wlll be open very soon.

“When opened, the centre will be the first of its kind in West Africa.”

A Nigerian girl of about 30 years old, and goes by the name Jessica was found dead few weeks ago in the industrial area between Carinaro and Gricignano, near Morris bicycle factory, Italy.

The body of the deceased was found naked and without documents for identification and two clean knives was found beside the body. Thou the body didn't show any visible trace of violence or injuries from firearms and sharp weapons, but she may have been strangled to death.
An employee of a company in the industrial zone gave the alarm when he
found the dead body of the lady and the police were called in.

NEWS: MAN WHO SELLS HUMAN HEAD FOR 1000 NAIRA

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a grandfather, Mr. Segun Kayode, for allegedly exhuming and selling human parts.

According to the police, the suspect, who works at a cemetery in Epe area of the state, sold human parts for a living, adding that he had become notorious in the area for selling human parts.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested following a report by a resident who saw him displaying a skull for sale.

The grandfather, who could not give his exact age, said he started selling human parts because he was poor and jobless.

He said:

“I live at 2,Tungbehin Street, Epe. I have two children and I am a grandfather. I have always been poor all my life because I had no formal or informal education. I used to be a fisherman but when there were no longer fishes in rivers in my area, I became a gardener at Epe Local Government Secretariat.

“About four years ago, the LG said they no longer needed my services so I started trimming grass at a cemetery in the area.”

The suspect, who did not deny the allegations, said there was nothing wrong in selling dead people’s parts since the dead never used them.

He said one day, while he was clearing weeds in the cemetery, he noticed a human skull which had been dug up.

He said, “Most times, when a corpse is not buried with a coffin, the possibility of the corpse resurfacing is very high. So, what workers at the cemetery do is to gather some of the corpses and burn them instead of burying them again.

“I realised that this was not a smart thing to do since it would be better to make money from it. The families of these dead people never care about them once they are buried and weeds had taken over the cemetery.”

The suspect said he sold only two corpses while he had on numerous occasions given them out for free.

He said, “I have sold only two human heads. I sold the first one for N1, 000 while I sold the second one for N1, 500. Last week, a resident approached me saying an herbalist needed the head so I got a decomposed head, for him, washed it and put it on a fence to dry.

“A resident saw me and raised the alarm and that was how I was arrested.”

PUNCH Metro had reported last week that five people, including an herbalist, were arrested for selling human parts.

A police source told one of our correspondents that the trend was common in areas where public cemeteries were situated.

“Areas which are not located in the metropolis and have cemeteries have become the hideout for cartels which specialise in sale of human parts. We (police) have reason to believe that some of these human parts dealers also engage in ritual killing,” he said.

The source added that efforts were going on to arrest other human parts sellers in the area.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed Kayode’s arrest. She said he had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

WHY SOME WOMEN DON'T HAVE KIDS AFTER AN ABORTION

Just so y'all know, i'm not encouraging abortion, its happens and when you want to proceed, you know how to protect yourself for future purposes. This is Nigeria, abortion is illegal, you can't just walk into any hospital to get the procedure done.

I have seen a situation were a woman dating a guy for 7 years with 5 abortion and no marriage. She eventually got married to a different man and no children because of multiple abortion.

Also, i read a story were the woman had no child for her present hubby because of careless abortion. Sometime, not all the long term relationship are meant to be, you could separate for so many reason and sometime men are heartless, they know they wouldn't marry you but advise you to get rid of the pregnancy because of their image or whatever excuses they cook up. After so much abortion and years of dating they leave for another girl.

Now ladies, having an abortion is to your own detriment. The man would neither feel your pain nor care, so, you can as well have your baby and forget about him.

We all know that abortion is the medical process of ending a pregnancy so it does not result in the birth of a baby. There are many reasons why a woman might decide to have an abortion. It could be because of personal circumstances, health risk, and maybe the baby has a medical condition.

There are risks in abortion which is unlikely, for example, Haemorrhage( excessive bleeding) damage to the cervix, damage to the womb, and Asherman's syndrome.

The main issue or problem why so many women don't get pregnant after an abortion (D&C) is called Asherman Syndrome. You need to watch out for that.

Asherman's Syndrome, or intrauterine adhesions/scarring or synechiae, is an acquired uterine condition, characterized by the formation of adhesions ( scar tissue) inside the uterus and or the cervix. In many cases the front and back walls of the uterus stick to one another.

Pregnancy related D&C have been shown to account for 90% of Asherman's syndrome. There is a 25% risk of developing Asherman's syndrome from a D&C that is performed 2 to 4 week after delivery.

The risk of Asherman's syndrome increases with the number of D&C performed; after a single termination the risk is 16%, however after 3 or more D&C , the risk increases to 32%.

Each case of Asherman's syndrome is different, and the cause must be determined on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, Asherman's syndrome may have been caused by an "overly aggressive" D&C.

PREVENTION
Read well, prevention of Asherman's syndrome is the only and best solution. Either you use the drug method of abortion ( misoprostol) or you do D&C. To prevent it while you do D&C tell your doctor not to CURRETTE ( scrape) you to avoid injuries.

Let me explain in a layman's language. You know how the procedure goes, the doctor opens your virginal insert a tube to suck the blood out after that, he also insert a long iron and start to scrape your womb wall,. You understand now. When you see the iron (long iron) alert your doctor, tell him not to scrape you, you can tell him before he commence.

Asherman's syndrome causes infertility or miscarriage

Ladies, get a reputable D&C doctor, don't just walk into any hospital and assume that any doctor you see can do a D&C. You need a practicing doctor, a doctor that has been in that field for years. You can't get a dentist to perform a surgery, likewise you can't get anyhow medical doctor to do a D&C for you. Avoid quack doctors.

NEWS:FIVE NABBED FOR EXHUMING CORPSES, SELLING HUMAN PARTS

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five men for allegedly exhuming corpses and selling their parts for ritual purposes.

According to police authorities, the suspects –, Jamiu Adeleke, Ajibade Rafiu, Fatai Akiwowo, Kazeem Sanni and Agboola Kolawole – had at different times sold human parts in Owode, Ogun State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ngozi Braide, said Adeleke was arrested by the police and through his confession, were able to apprehend the others.

She said, “On May 15, 2013, Adeleke was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad while he was trying to sell human hands for N21,000. Upon interrogation, he confessed that he bought the parts from Sanni at the cost of N6,000.

“Police arrested Sanni and he in turn confessed that the eight hands which he sold belonged to his siblings- his two brothers and sisters. He confessed that he went to their graves and cut off their heads. He confessed that he sold the heads for N8,000 each while he sold the hands for N4,000 each.

“Investigations led to the home of an herbalist, Rafiu, who is also the receiver. He uses the human parts for rituals. In his house, police recovered fresh hands which he claimed was meant for jobs for his customers. We also saw a bottle which he said was crushed human skull mixed in fluid. He said it was for power and he uses it to make medicine for people.”

Braide said investigations showed that prior to his arrest, the herbalist had hired some of the suspects to help him get a living human being at the cost of N40,000.

Braide added that Adeleke, who is an Islamic scholar, however, died while trying to escape from police custody.

The suspects, who did not deny the allegations, said they never killed anyone but only exhumed corpses from graveyards.

Kolawole said he went into the business because he needed money to pay his children’s school fees.

He said, “I am a farmer and I live in a graveyard in Owo, Ogun State. In December last year, I went to see my friend and begged him to lend me money to pay my children’s fees. He then said if I could help him to get human skulls, he would pay me N8,000 for each.

“He came to my house at night and after he had exhumed two of the corpses in the graveyards, he gave me N16,000.

“In May, 2013, I needed money to purchase examination form for my child and I went to meet him again. He said he would give me N16, 000 for two more skulls, so he exhumed two more corpses.”

A 25-year-old suspect, Sanni, who claimed to be a commercial motorcycle rider, said he had only exhumed two corpses, adding that he ran out of the business when his clients started demanding for a human being.

He said, “Akinowo told me to get two skulls for him and I did. He gave me N6,000 and N8,000. He later told me to get a live human being for him but when I could not find one, they started disturbing me with telephone calls. I only sold two skulls.”

The herbalist, Rafiu, said he never exhumed any corpse rather, it was the other suspects that were always pestering him to buy body parts.

Rafiu, who claimed to be 28 years, said he did not use the corpses for money rituals but used it in preparing a potion which people drank for protection.

“I never sent anyone to supply me human parts. They always bring the parts to my place and beg me to buy,” he said.

Asked what was in the bottle recovered from him, he said, “The bottle I am holding contains a burnt and crushed human skull and schnapps. Anybody who drinks it will be immune to all forms of attack. I have been doing this for about seven years now but I have never drunk the potion. I am even scared to use it.

“I have a wife and child and it is this job I use in sustaining myself.”

Another suspect, Akinowo, said poverty pushed him into the illegal business. Akinowo, who spoke amid tears, said he was paid N8,000 for each body part.

Akinowo said in his statement that he cut the heads of his late brothers and two sisters buried in private graves in his compound and sold them for N8,000 each.

If anyone had told Blessing Ikhumhi that Okosun Cyril, the man she once loved, would turn around and bath her with acid, she would not have believed it. Neighbours and friends used to see the duo as Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. But they were wrong.

Even Blessing once saw him as “the best thing that could ever happen to her,” because she never believed the words of William Shakespeare, which asserts that, “there are daggers in men’s smile.”

Their romance turned sour with tragic consequence for Blessing, a 23-year-old student of Edo State School of Health Technology. If she would ever regain her sight she would see all men as “monsters” because she has seen “hell” in the last three months as a patient at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City.

Doctors in the hospital believe she may never see again except she is flown to a specialist hospital in India, where her sight could be restored.

Blessing’s story is a sad one. Her ordeal began when she told her boyfriend, who is now in police custody in Benin, that she was no longer interested in what she described as “uninspiring relationship.”

The news did not go down well with him. He visited her house and asked for a talk.
The victim had gone outside to meet with the man whom she thought might have come to settle with her and probably, persuade her to continue in the relationship, but to Blessing’s shock, she was bathed with acid. From that fateful day, she has seized to see and has been on admission at the UBTH.

“He was my boyfriend and we had arguments in February. He beat me to the extent that I was not able to go to school for three days. I told him I was no longer interested in the relationship. He later tried to forcibly take my telephone, but I refused to give it to him. I told him he was not the one who bought it for me.”

“On March 23, he called and asked me to meet him in front of our house. I refused initially, but he insisted, so I came out. He asked: “Do you mean you don’t want me again?” I said: “No! I was no more interested in the relationship. And immediately, he poured the acid on my face.

Since that day, I have been on admission at the UBTH and the doctors say I might not see again except I am flown to India where my eyes could be restored. “
She noted that Cyril was the last person she expected to treat her so badly.
“I never knew he would have the heart to pour acid on me. I made a mistake. I have learnt the biggest lesson of my life. My prayer now is that God should touch kind-hearted Nigerians to come to my aide so that I would be able to get treatment abroad, since my parents cannot afford it.” Ikhumhi, a native of Fugar, Etsako Local Council of Edo State, has pleaded with public-spirited Nigerians to come to her aid.

Osondu, said to be in his early 30s, does no serious work for a living. It was reported that he had approached several young women in the community for friendship, but none reciprocated. So, he neither has a wife nor is he courting any one at the moment.

He could not even afford the ‘luxury’ of an hour with a call girl. Still, he wanted to satisfy his sexual urge.
In meeting his desire for sex, Osondu resorted to raping elderly women whom he later claimed were better than many young girls around. But having carnal knowledge of these elderly women, many old enough to be his grandmother, did not come cheap.

Osondu reportedly scouts round the community in the day time, for his prey, and once he gets them, he goes after them at night. Since the alleged rapist could not lure these elderly women with any material item, he reportedly threatened them with a knife he usually concealed in his trousers.

Apart from threatening to kill the elderly women should they refuse him sex, Osondu also carefully selected those women who live alone in their homes.

For months now, Osondu had successfully raped about a dozen elderly women whose age averaged 60 years old. Luck, however, ran out on Osondu Tuesday, last week, when a victim rebuffed his threat to kill her and managed to raise the alarm which drew the attention of passersby. That was around 4:30p.m on a bush path in the community.

It was reported that a day before Osondu planned to carry out his crime against the fair-skinned elderly woman, he had visited the woman pretending to want to buy an item from her.

The woman was reportedly alone at the time Osondu visited her. With the knowledge of the woman going to the market the following day to get some items into her shop, the rapist traced her to the market.

But on her way from the market, he reportedly waylaid the woman at a nearby bush brandishing his knife at the woman, and then asking her for sex. The woman, identity concealed, rebuffed his death threats and started shouting at the top of her voice hoping to attract attention.

The woman soon got help from other villagers returning from the market, who surrounded Osondu and gave him some beating before he was handed over to law enforcement agents. Osondu was later transferred to the Enugu State Criminal Investigations Department where he is reportedly cooperating with the police.

When confronted with the allegation that he was using the women for rituals, Osondu denied the allegation, but claimed that he only ‘used’ the women to satisfy his sexual urge.

“It is not true that I use the women for ritual. The truth is that I have a big appetite for sex and none of these young girls around is ready to befriend me. So I resolve to going for the elderly women,” he said.

Narrating his modus operandi, alleged rapist Osondu continued, “I always get the women in the night or in the bush mostly when they were returning from the market. If anyone wanted to resist me, I only use the knife to threaten them so that they can let me have my way. I never harm them with the knife.

The truth is that young ladies in this town make life difficult for you once you do not have money to spend on them,” he said. Ebere Amaraizu, Enugu State Police Command spokesman, who confirmed the incident, thanked members of the community for apprehending the suspect.

THREE SOLDIERS, 10 BOKO HARAM MILITANTS KILLED IN DAURA ATTACK

Three soldiers and at least 10 Boko Haram militants were killed in an overnight battle in Daura, Katsina State. Daura is the home town of former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd).

A military source at Nigerian Army headquarters in Abuja, speaking to SaharaReporters from Daura, said that the Nigerian troops recovered from the fleeing sect members sophisticated weapons as well as millions of Naira loaded into two cars.

Many of the sect members, according to the senior military officer, fled into the Daura area with bullet wounds, and the troops have commenced an intensive search for them.
He said the sect had attacked the Daura Police base and a prison located near the Emir’s palace, as well as about four commercial banks.

At the time of this report, SaharaReporters was learning that troop reinforcements were being dispatched to Daura and its environs with the aim of overcoming any possible offensive by the sect.

The General Officer Commanding One Division, Kaduna, Major General Garba Wahab is said to have confirmed the death in action of the three soldiers.
It may be noted that Katsina State, in North West Nigeria, is not one of the States for which President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency this week.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN FANI-KAYODE AND DELE MOMODU ON PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY IN BORNO, YOBE AND ADAMAWA STATES

Fani-Kayode – “I am impressed and encouraged by the tough talk that our President indulged in tonight but I have never heard of a State of Emergency where the governors and other political office holders in the affected states are given the opportunity to “remain in office”. This has never happened before in the history of Nigeria. As far as I am concerned President Jonathan’s declaration of a State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states is too little and too late.
“The governors and ALL political office holders in the affected states should have been completely removed and the whole state should have been run by a Federal Government appointed civilian Administrator who would then have the full backing of the military. That is what is meant to happen when a State of Emergency is declared. Sadly Jonathan did not have the guts to go all the way and to remove the governors and this half-measure that he has put in place will not have the desired effect. This is another lost opportunity. What a pity.”

Dele Momodu – “I wish to disagree with Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on his position against the decision of President Ebele Jonathan not to sack the State governments of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa after declaring a State of Emergency! The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not empower The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces to arbitrarily sack a duly and constitutionally elected government in the States.

“The fact that President Olusegun Obasanjo did it with impunity and got away with it because we had gutless Governors does not make it right. This culture of rambunctious rascality and rabid vindictiveness cannot be allowed to continue. On this one I support President Goodluck Jonathan and salute him for not terminating the lives of elected Governments in Federalism. It is not the fault of those State Governments that Boko Haram has ravaged their States. In reality, how many States are truly immune from wanton destruction of lives and properties? Security agents were killed like rats in Bayelsa the other day.
“Many lives have been wasted in Plateau State. The mother of Coordinating Minister of the Economy was kidnapped and only escaped by the whiskers and after serious deals. Dead bodies were seen floating in Anambra State. The general malaise has spread even to Lagos. To sack those Governors is to also indict the Federal Government for its inability to crush the viral rebellion with all its Federal might!
“It is to sack the entire Nigerian State for failing to secure the lives and properties of citizens. The solution lies not in the over-militarisation of North-East Nigeria or Nigeria in general. It is for our leaders to terminate the culture of Poverty they have instituted through their reckless profligacy. The all-pervading state of insecurity in Nigeria is symptomatic of a brewing Revolution of cataclysmic proportions. Guns can never chase away hunger but politicians CAN if they are serious, sincere and determined!”

Fani-Kayode – “Which court said that the constitution does not empower the President to suspend state governors? Which court declared OBJ’s actions illegal? OBJ got the necessary approvals for his actions from the Nat. Ass. Will someone ask those that say that OBJ’s actions were not constitutional whether OBJ was there when all serving political office holders were removed in the Western Region when a state of emergency was declared there in 1964.
“At the end of the day only one thing matters and it is not my interpretation of the constitution or anyone else’s. What matters is whether this hitherto untested system of having a serving governor who has not been able to maintain law and order in his state still running it when emergency laws are in place. It will lead to chaos, abuse of power, the persecution of political enemies, confusion and more atrocities. It will not succeed in stopping BH but it will strengthen it and cause it to spread.
“The logic of allowing those that have failed to protect their people to continue for the prescribed period of six months and avoid suspension is beyond me. The fear of a state of emergency by the governors and political office holders is what makes them sit up and do their best to avoid it. It is a very heavy hammer and once wielded the consequences must be felt by all including those that have failed in their duties in the state. Once they are assured that they will be allowed to continue in office even after that hammer is wielded the deterrent is removed and there is no longer any incentive for them to ensure that there is peace in their states.
“In fact some of them would even want a state of emergency because it would give them awesome powers to deal with their enemies and commit all manner of human rights abuses and atrocities. There is nowhere in the constitution that says that a governor cannot be removed in a state of emergency and until a court declares it otherwise I shall deem it lawful, necessary and expedient”

Dele Momodu – “I insist that the bullying of State Governors under President Olusegun Obasanjo was unconstitutional, all gas and of no substance or significant consequence. It was this chicanery that produced the mess that we’ve all found ourselves in today. Femi should kindly tell us what Obasanjo’s sledge-hammer had achieved in the long-run. It is that realisation of monumental failure that has turned President Obasanjo to the most vociferous critic of Jonathan today.
“Femi should also educate us if any Governor in Nigeria has a State Police to contain insecurity. If President Jonathan can’t do it with all the soldiers, Airforce, Navy, SSS, etc, at his beck and call it would be callous to hold Governors responsible for our collective failure. Finally, may we find the courage to resist Jonathan whenever he graduates to the full-blown dictatorship of the Obasanjo era. I stand with President G. E. Jonathan on this one occasion for not sacking any Governor to serve a bloated ego”

Fani-Kayode – “A last word for Dele Momodu: The governors are described as the Chief Security Officers of their respective states in the constitution and they are charged by that same constitution and by oath before God and the people to provide security for the state. Yes, we all know that the security agencies are Federal institutions and it could be better but nevertheless that is their duty and charge.
“I am not aware of one case where the Commissioner of Police, the Director of SSS or the Brigade Commander in any state has refused to follow the governor’s orders in his state. If a governor cannot handle security in his state with all the soldiers, SSS officers and mobile policemen at his disposal then he should resign from his position and re-apply to become governor again after the constitution allows him to have a state police force as opposed to a Federal one.
“Our governors surely cannot abdicate the responsibility for security for their respective states to the President alone. They also have a key role to play because they are physically present in those states and they are on the ground. The truth is that in reality the governors are like little emperors in their respective domains.
“They are exceptionally powerful and the power that they wield is awesome and often unchallenged. Surely even Dele Momodu knows this. If they really put their mind to it they can do far better than most of them have been doing. Over and out!”
