Introducing "Gretel"

In my last post I stated that I was pondering whether or not to trade in my 2007 VW Eos. It was time for a change. I needed trunk space. I just needed space period. I was over the hardtop convertible scene. What I still needed was some decent off-the-line speed despite wanting a four door sedan. Can't I have both? I also wanted as many bells and whistles I could afford. So I caved (with great hesitation) and sent the Eos off to the land of wholesalers.

Introducing Gretel. She's a 2013 deep black pearl metallic Jetta GLI Autobahn edition (the sportiest of Jettas). I love her. She has both inner and outer beauty. Better yet, I love to drive her. As I enter the vehicle, she reminds me to breathe a sigh of relief and embrace my inner zen. "Namaste", I say to myself.

Although I was never a fan of black on black, especially in an area that gets close to 300 days of sun, I didn't have much of a choice with this particular edition. The plus side is the black seats have red stitching, a very nice and sporty touch. But, am I going to burn the heck out of my legs after a one hour shopping spree? Nah, I make it a point to park in a shaded area and she's garage kept. Problem solved.

FEATURES

Heated seats - while living in Southern California, this feature will probably never get used unless I move back to Chicago

Voice Activated/touch-screen infotainment system with Navigation - used daily, user friendly. How did I ever live without this?

Power Sunroof - used daily, although I'd prefer a push button (as in the Eos), this one is a dial. Not a fan.

6-way Power Driver Seat - wouldn't buy a car without it

Fender Premium Audio System - I like my music loud and crisp. Great sound. Good job VW.

Push-button start - don't most new vehicles have this? Note to self: press the brake pedal first.

Enormous back seat - haven't owned a vehicle with this in years. My 5'10" hubby says there's plenty of room. Was he hinting at something?

Bi-xenon headlamps with Audi-esque LED accents and Adaptive Front Lighting system - one of my favorite features. Gretel looks sexy and mysterious at night. She sure knows how to light up my life.

Red brake calipers - I love brake calipers with color. For someone who sometimes gets a little too matchy matchy with her clothing ensembles (per my fashionista daughter Sammi), this feature is another one of my favorites. They match the red stitching in the seats.

Rearview camera - a must in EVERY vehicle. nuff said.

Leather-wrapped, multi-function steering wheel with shifter paddles - no, she's not a Porsche or a Lambo, but those paddles sure are fun.

Brushed Aluminum Pedal Covers - just like in "real" sports carz!

CONCLUSION

Greta doesn't disappoint. She does the opposite. She's fun and spunky. I love her smooth ride, responsive steering and excellent handling. There's a very slight turbo lag but I noticed it more in the Eos so I'll overlook it. She's quick and flexible like my niece Molly, the cross country runner and gymnast. The seats are cushy and I love the chunky, racecar-shaped steering wheel (the bottom part is straight across). It's another solid build and finish from VW. But no surprise there.

Like the old VW ad slogan (as seen below on my t-shirt), I'm experiencing Fahrvergnugen, the joy of driving.

Letter To My Eos

My Dear Eos (The Goddess of Dawn),

It has been almost six years and 42,000 miles. I remember the day I brought you home. It was as if I was bringing home a baby from the hospital. All the oohs and aahs from the neighbors and co-workers. "It's like a transformer" said my boss Michael. "That is so cool, I've never seen anything like that" said my friend and co-worker Heide (who, less than a year later, also bought an Eos). Even my husband was in awe of you and still is to this day.

Unlike all other cars I've purchased or leased, you're the one I feel the most comfortable in. I just knew we were meant to be together. I fit so snuggly inside your seats and I'm attracted to your sunny disposition.

You aren't my first hard top convertible, but you are the first with a built in panoramic sunroof. Oh the many times I've taken your top down (in 25 seconds) to feel the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. It's just you, me and nature at its' finest.

I love your confidence, comfort, handling, steering and the way you keep me safe. You never cease to amaze me. The zippiness of your 4 cylinder turbo charged engine (sans the occasional lag) is a turn on. I adore your fuel efficient ways that prevent me from visiting the gas station. It's always high octane for you, my swift little nugget.

I appreciate your rain sensitive windshield wipers and heated front seats. You really know how to spoil me. You may not have a lot of storage, but I don't have a lot of stuff. You may have faux leather seats, but no one, including me, can tell the difference. I'm glad we spared the cow anyway.

Although some say you're not as sexy as a Goddess should be, I say your looks are perfect to me. And isn't that what counts anyway? You're like me, you don't care what anyone else thinks - you're secure in your own skin and I can leave the house without makeup.

I apologize for all the little dings, dents and scratches. I can assure you they were not caused by me. I would never cause you such harm. I cannot control the disrespect others show when they open their car doors onto your smooth, grey body.

But now there's something you need to know. It has been gnawing at me for several months. Lately I've been having thoughts about trading you in and I can't help it. God knows I love you to the core. People change. Carz change. What's a girl to do? I sense your retractable hardtop is getting somewhat arthritic. Your tire pressure monitoring system is getting a little schizophrenic just to name a few. I'm getting older and arthritic too - see, we are alike in that respect, only I'm not schizophrenic or maybe I am!

I think I miss the roominess of a sedan. That's right. I said it. A sedan. A four-door sedan. And besides, you're two years over the basic warranty and one year over the drivetrain warranty. This is when repairs start to add up. You get the picture, right? Can you blame me? An infotainment/navi system would be nice too.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate all that you've provided me and I am forever grateful. You've been the constant in my ever so hectic life. It's just that I think a change is in order. I'm not 100% sure, that's why I used the word "think" twice.

If there is a positive here my dear, sweet Eos, it's that I'm considering your larger VW relatives. Oh don't be jealous. The carz I'm pondering won't be as fast as you and won't bring me in touch with nature. My next car will never and could never compare to you.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, 2.0T

Last year I had the pleasure of renting a 2012 Hyundai Genesis (4-door sedan) during my visit to Chicago. It wasn't the car I requested, it was an upgrade. I had never before set foot inside any Hyundai so I was pleasantly surprised by all the bells and whistles. More importantly I was impressed with its' handling and smooth ride.

Because I enjoyed driving the sedan and had a new-found respect for Hyundai, I decided to check out the 2013 Genesis Coupe (2-door), 2.0 Turbo (entry level). I'd read about all the cosmetic and power changes and had to find out what all the buzz was about.

EXTERIOR: LOVE IT OR HATE IT

The Genesis has been around since 2010 but Hyundai decided to give the coupe a facelift for 2013. At first glance, I wasn't completely taken in, but after a few minutes it grew on me. The coupe doesn't even come close to looking like its' sedan sibling, nor does it resemble the first generation. For starters, the faux hood vents look like a set of eyebrows. The front end has a very large grille: a big schnoz with an opened mouth design. The angled headlights and the addition of fog lights add to the overall aggressive look.

Although first generation coupe owners don't care for the new design, I, along with the majority of automotive reviewers think it's a sharp looking vehicle. Here's an example of what one Genesis Coupe forum participant said, "The vents go with the redesigned front end...some don't like it but for me it's what separates this car from the pack. The earlier models look boring just like the G37 (Infinity). The new look and performance upgrades are why I'm buying the car. If I wanted clean lines and no balls I would have gotten the G37. But I decided I wanted a man car!"

INTERIOR AND FEATURES

The Genesis coupe cabin has a nice design with faux stitching, but I wasn't overly impressed. It just didn't have that "wow" factor. As with most vehicles in this price range, there's somewhat of a plastic-y feel to the interior. But then again, the Camaro and the Mustang both have that same feel (i suppose the manufacturers gotta cut costs somewhere). The dash is soft and curvaceous making it pleasing to the eye. One thing for sure, I didn't feel cramped. The cloth seats are perfectly shaped and quite comfy. I could easily take this baby on a long road trip.

The rear seats are crampy, to say the least. I can't imagine adults sitting back there for more than two minutes. There's plenty of room for the kids, but a family car it isn't.

The controls are perfectly placed, easy to read and user friendly. The three circular displays depict mpg, oil temp and boost pressure (turbo). Standard features include Bluetooth, USB/iPod interface and satellite radio. New for this year is Hyundai's BlueLink telematic system which includes voice text messaging, trip computer and monthly vehicle reporting. The six-speaker Infinity stereo with CD player also comes standard but the sound quality was a little too "tinny" for me.

Also new for this year is the telescoping/tilt steering wheel, which allowed me to get in optimal driving mode. I'm on the short side, so this feature is a must.

The trunk is 10 cubic feet, but the rear seats fold down for more room. Two nice size drink holders and a sunroof add to the many nice features the coupe offers.

THE RIDE

On the road, I was impressed with the balanced handling and quick, tight steering. Corners were taken with ease. Kudos to the suspension engineers. Although I attempted to take a highway drive, the 5 freeway was bumper to bumper. I had no choice but to open her up on a long side street. I love the throaty and roaring sound of the engine with its' brisk acceleration. What I also commend Hyundai for is that I didn't experience any Turbo lag (like I do in my VW Eos 2.0T). Smoothness at its' finest.

Although the appeal is geared toward the GEN 'Y-ers', this middle-aged chick had fun driving the Genesis coupe. You get a lot of bang for your buck with plenty of nice features, a long warranty and decent gas mileage. This car deserves some serious respect. Hyundai is definitely in it to win it.

TARGA TROPHY ITALIAN CAR FEST

It was a cloudy, hazy morning yesterday at Oakley Headquarters in Foothill Ranch, CA. My photographer/husband and I were one of the first to arrive at 7:30am (for the 8:00 start). Targa Trophy employees and the DJ were starting to set up. We wanted to be in perfect position for welcoming and photographing the most beautiful carz on the road.

We established our position at the check-in point and impatiently awaited the arrival of some of the most beautiful and sexiest carz of all time. One of the fun parts of waiting was listening to the sounds of the engines as the carz whipped around the bends and curves. I love to challenge myself by matching the sound with the car before it appears. Kudos to me cuz I nailed it!

DODGE FEVER RETURNS

Remember the Dodge Dart from the '60's and '70's? I saw a few in my High School parking lot but preferred my 1973 Olds Delta 88. My friends Candy and Gary had one in army green. She despised it, he loved it. Gomer Pyle drove a couple on his television series. Several hundred movies showcased the Dart. But the fourth generation Dodge Dart ceased production in the U.S. in 1976.

Thirty-six years later the Dart has returned to replace the (deplorable) Caliber as Dodge's entry-level vehicle. This is the very first Chrysler Group car infused with Italian DNA, based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform.

According to Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Dodge Brand, "this is optimal timing for the return of the Dart due to fuel prices and the uprising of the compact car. Midsize roominess with a compact car footprint makes Dart ready". He added, "Dodge wants to bring features and content to the compact car segment". That's exactly what Dodge did with the Dart.

COMPETITION FOR DART

Some of Dart's competitors have raised the bar for the compact car class by offering convenience and tech features. Compact segment competitors include Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Chevy Cruze and Hyundai Elantra. Reid Bigland says, " Dodge's quality is rapidly improving; prior to 2009 (when Chrysler formed an alliance with Fiat), the quality of our interiors were sub par". With the Italian influence, Dodge clearly refined its' vehicles.

FIRST IMPRESSION

The exterior styling proves that Dodge is going in a brand new direction. The sleek lines, flared front and rear fenders and sloping roof give it a more spirited and agile look. The "racetrack" LED taillights and crosshair grille are similar to the Charger. I'm not a big fan of the Challenger or Charger from an aesthetic point of view, but the Dart's softer lines certainly enticed me.

INTERIOR QUALITY

The Dodge Dart has one of the nicest and roomiest cabins I've seen in a compact car. It has a modern feel with a hint of European flair. Two features that I love are the extra-large glovebox and the extra storage located inside the front passenger seat (see picture below). The soft-touch dashboard, stitching and higher quality materials prove that Dodge is in it to win it.

TRIMS, STYLES AND OPTIONS, OH MY!

With the 2013 Dart, there are over 100,000 ways to customize; 12 exterior colors, 14 interior colors and trim combos, six wheel options, three engine options, three transmission options and over 150 Mopar accessories. Talk about personalizing a vehicle - whew!

Five trim levels are available. For $15,995 the SE (base) is equipped with the standard engine: 2.0L 160hp/148 lb-ft Tigershark (29mpg combo), 10 airbags, power windows, 16" wheels, height-adjustable driver seat, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, CD player with 4 speakers and folding rear seat. What doesn't come standard in this trim? Keyless entry and A/C. Hmmmm.

For $2,000 more you get the SXT trim - everything from the SE trim plus 17" alloy wheels, power mirrors and door locks, remote keyless entry, 6 speakers, A/C, upgraded cloth upholstery, upgraded instrument panel, sliding front arm rest and a 60/40 front folding rear seat.

The Rallye ($18,995) includes everything in the SXT plus projector fog lamps, integrated dual exhaust, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and a unique performance front fascia with black chrome headlamps.

Both the SXT and Rallye trims can be rigged out with several option packages: 8.4-inch touch screen multimedia center, ParkView Rear Back-up Camera and navi.

The Limited trim ($19,995) is equipped with Uconnect Touch, 10-way power driver seat, 7-inch reconfigurable TFT (Thin Film Transistor) cluster display, bright grille and door handles. Options for this trim are premium Nappa leather seating, heated front seats and polished aluminum wheels.

The high-end R/T ($22,495) includes all that the Limited has to offer plus 18" aluminum wheels, Nappa leather heated seats, heated steering wheel, the larger engine: 2.4L 184 hp/171 lb-ft Tigershark with MultiAir II, unique Hyper Black grille and black fascia and integrated dual exhaust. Options for this trim are Hyper Black aluminum wheels, Keyless Enter 'n Go, HID Headlamps and a 506-watt sound system.

Optional on all trims except the R/T is the 1.4L-4 cyl, 160hp turbo (184 lb-feet of torque). This is the same engine in the Fiat 500 Abarth.

THE DRIVE, THE FEEL

I tested the 6-speed automatic and was very disappointed in the lack of robustness. I imagine the turbo would provide that. The suspension handled bumps with suppleness but when taking corners I felt the weight of the car. Steering was quick and sharp, thanks to Fiat. All in all the Dart was fun to drive, very responsive with solid handling and excellent visibility.

WRAPPING IT UP

Consumers purchase compact cars for three reasons: 1) price, 2) reliability and 3) fuel economy. The Dodge Dart offers all three. For a compact sedan with plenty of convenience, tech and comfort features, you get a lot of bang for your buck.

The 2013 Dart certainly gives Dodge a stronger entry in the compact car segment. With all the unique features, craftsmanship and refinement, the Dart is sure to stand out.

SUMMERize YOUR CAR!

With summer only seven weeks away, there are a few things you should do to care for your car, especially if you've got a summer road trip planned. Most people can handle #2 - #5 on their own.

1) OIL CHANGE
If you live in an area with extreme temperatures, it's a good idea. Running oil through different temperatures takes a toll on your vehicle. (See my blog post "Time For An Oil Change? Maybe not.") You don't have to go to your car dealer for an oil change, unless of course it's free.

2) TIRE PRESSURE
Changes in temperature affect the air pressure in your tires. A change of just ten degrees can cause the tire pressure to change by 1 psi. Most people overlook checking their tire pressure, but it's the easiest form of maintenance. Invest in a tire pressure gauge and keep it in your glove box (if you don't have an automatic tire pressure alert system). Most carz have a sticker located either on the inside of the driver side door or inside the glove box to let you know what the tire pressure should be for your vehicle. Or check your owner's manual!

3) COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE LEVEL
This magical fluid prevents your engine from freezing in the winter and overheating in the summer. Make sure the level is full - no tools needed.

4) BATTERY
Make sure the fluid level is at the proper level. Hot weather is tough on batteries. All you need is a flathead screwdriver to pop the cap on top of the battery and you'll be able to see the fluid level. If low, fill with distilled water ONLY (to avoid mineral build up).

5) WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID/WIPERS
Check to see if your blades are worn down from overuse, freezing temps and salt from the roads. If your visibility is reduced, you shouldn't be driving. When the summer heat hits, the rubber on the blades tend to get dry - they can crack and separate from the frame. The washer fluid should be topped off (use a funnel). You can easily make your own washer fluid too.

Here's what you'll need to make your own windshield washer fluid:

10 cups of warm water
3 cups of rubbing alcohol
1 Tablespoon of mild liquid dishwashing detergent
1 clean empty milk jug (1 gallon)

Pour the ingredients in the milk jug and shake vigorously. VOILA!!! If you have leftovers, you can use this solution for the mirrors and glass in your house - just pour the solution into a spray bottle. WARNING: don't use the homemade version in the winter time due to the lack of methanol, which prevents it from freezing.

As the Boy Scouts say, "BE PREPARED". And I say, "BE PROACTIVE". You don't want to be driving on a rural highway without cell service when your battery light comes on. Take care of your car now so she takes care of you and your family every day.

ESTROGEN BASED CAR BUYING

J.D. Power and Associates recently compiled sales figures which show the top 9 vehicles women chose. Three out of the nine carz are Volkswagen, no surprise there (I'm one of them)!

The compact crossover Volkswagen Tiguan (a mix between a Tiger and an Iguana) has taken over the number one spot from the new VW Beetle, making it the top choice for chix.

The VW Beetle, with the flower vase on the dash (eliminated for newer models), has been the quintessential "chix car" since it returned to the market in the late 90's.

Here is the complete list showing the percentage of buyers who are female:

1) Volkswagen Tiguan, 61.7% female buyers

2) Volkswagen Beetle, 57.9%

3) Hyundai Tucson, 55.7%

4) Kia Sportage, 53.5%

5) Nissan Rogue, 53.1%

6) Volvo V50, 52.6%

Did you notice how all 9 of these carz are foreign? The domestic automakers are making some headway with women, but not fast enough.

Women aren't just influencers. They've been steadily growing as prime car buyers since the early 80's. Although car manufacturers still heavily market to men, women buy 52% of all new cars. C'mon ad agencies - wake up and smell the motor oil!

What are women looking for when selecting a new car?

1) Safety (visibility, side airbags, outside mirrors)

2) Good Value (affordable, fuel-efficient)

3) Four-Door Models (no explanation needed here)

4) Positive Reviews (women are more likely to do more research, visit dealerships and rely on referrals from friends and family)

Here's what guys are looking for:

1) Styling

2) Horsepower

3) Engine Design

4) Front Visibility

While the popular car choices for men (Porsche 911, Vette, BMW M3, Ford F150) have a higher price tag, are more sporty, impractical and not fuel efficient, the women's more practical and economical choices certainly mean lower insurance premiums. It could also mean that your teenage driver would most likely ask to borrow Daddy's car.

2013 FORD FUSION, A HANDSOME CHAP!

Yesterday it was me and the boys (okay, there were other women there too). I had the pleasure of attending the Motor Press Guild Conference at the Ford Design Center (in Irvine, CA) to showcase the 2013 Fusion. The ever-so-knowledgeable Erich Merkle, U.S. Sales Analyst for Ford, opened with this statement: "Ford is redefining the mid-size sedan segment, they're trying to create something much more inspirational". To that I say, "finally".

I've never been a huge fan of Ford (not even Mustang - no growls please) but after seeing the fully redesigned Fusion, this may be a game changer for me.

Immediately I was taken aback by the sleek styling and wide, athletic stance. The front grille resembles the Aston Martin (Ford sold Aston Martin in 2007) while the tail resembles the VW Pasat.

I love the fastback rear end and the narrow headlights. Overall, it has the look of a Jaguar (Ford sold Jaguar in 2008), a handsome chap it is.

The interior is open, roomy and sporty with soft leather seating and a high center console. It looked and felt like "quality", a term often used during Mr. Merkle's description of the Fusion. He emphasized one of Ford's main goals is to engage all five senses, although he couldn't come up with how "taste" would be engaged. hmmm.

Some techy and convenience features for the Fusion are:

Lane-keeping system
Blind spot warning
Active park assist
Adaptive cruise control (uses radar to slow vehicle down when traffic is detected)
MyFord Touch system (I've heard about ongoing issues with this)
SYNC - newest version (voice activated control system)

Buyers will have their choice of 3 models: 1) Gasoline, 2) Hybrid and 3) Plug-In-Hybrid. Three trims will be offered: S, SE and Titanium.

With an estimated 47mpg city and 44 mpg highway, Ford is claiming the Fusion hybrid can outperform the 2012 Toyota Camry hybrid and the 2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid. According to Erich Merkle, "Ford is trying to take share of the Japanese and Korean markets". What took them so long?

As far as safety goes, the Fusion has a 10% increase in body strength (boron is used) and added 1st row knee airbags (Ford Fiesta has knee airbags for driver only; VW Routan also has 1st row knee airbags.)

Delivery of the Ford Fusion won't take place until the fall. No pricing is available yet, but when I "built my own" 2012 Fusion hybrid it was close to $35k. I have a hunch the 2013 will be closer to $40k.

I give it a thumbs up on style, safety, convenience/techno stuff, efficiency and practicality. I'll have to take a test drive to make my final determination on whether the 2013 Fusion will take Ford to the top of the mid-size sedan market.

PICK ME, PICK ME, PLEASE PICK ME

I've made it clear time and time again that I'm turned on by sexy, beautiful carz that get my endorphins rolling. I like clean lines, dreamy headlights, European interiors and nice butts, to name a few. I must be attracted to the outside of the car before I get to know the inside. I know, so shallow.

Yesterday my shallowness dissipated some. And I owe it to the Subaru Forester. That's right, the Subaru Forester. That geeky, rugged looking cross-over vehicle that screams "pick me, pick me"!

I didn't wake up yesterday morning and decide to test drive a Subaru Forester. It was never on any of my automotive "must" lists: must see, must test drive or must buy. My gal pal Annie asked me to accompany her on her quest to find the perfect vehicle for her daughter and son-in-law (both doctors, both outdoorsy). Both are interested in the Forester but don't have time to run around test driving carz (boards are coming up). Annie had a Subaru back in the day, was crazy about it and felt this could be the one.

We arrive at South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa (http://www.southcoastsubaru.com/index.htm) and were greeted by Jehu Alvarado, our friendly and somewhat knowledgeable salesperson. Jehu's fiance just purchased a Forester. Isn't that a coincidence?! Annie tells him she wants to test drive the most maxed out Forester. Five minutes later he pulls up in a turbo charged version with a funny looking, bulbous hood. Looks like a rhino to me.

After Annie and I gawked at the hood, I sarcastically questioned Jehu, "this car really comes in turbo, why?" He chuckled and said, "Subaru doesn't sell many turbo versions". Understood. We asked Jehu to swap the rhino for a Limited trim. "Sorry", he says, "we don't have any in stock". I asked him to bring us a Forester, any Forester with the standard engine (gas flat 4 cylinder, 2.5L, 170 hp). He arrives with a medium blue Touring trim. We're ready to roll.

Annie takes a quick test drive and loves how it feels (although the braking sensitivity threw her for a loop). A Chinese fire drill ensues and I'm now at the helm. I'm completely taken aback. Although I'm not a fan of the bland and mediocre interior (with the exception of the extra large sunroof), the Forester makes up for it in other important areas (safety, comfort, cargo space, overall roominess).

Now for the ride. I love the balanced and sporty handling and the softness of the ride. The strong acceleration allowed us to climb a hill with ease and I even beat the car next to me right off the line. It felt very stable when taking tight corners and winding roads. The soft cloth seats enveloped me as if I were ready to curl up with a good book (i guess too much comfort can be a bad thing when driving). Am I really driving a Subaru Forester? Yes, yes I am.

5 WEEK SABBATICAL FOR CHEVY VOLT

I've seen a few Chevy Volts on the road and only once did I take a second look - I didn't know what it was when it first entered the market. It wasn't love at first sight. It doesn't have the sexy lines, cute butt or pretty halogen lights. The interior is bland at best. But overall, it isn't a bad looking vehicle.

What the Volt does have is the ability to help save the environment, room for a family of four and stellar fuel economy. It received rave reviews on handling and its' high-tech power train. According to Consumer Reports, the Chevy Volt tops the list in customer satisfaction. So what the heck happened?

In 2011 only 7,700 units were sold. That's 2,300 units shy of GM's targeted goal for that year. So far for this year only 1,626 units have been sold. That's not nearly enough to keep pace with the targeted goal of 45,000 units for 2012.

Sluggish sales have caused GM to temporarily suspend the production of the Volt for 5 weeks starting March 19th, laying off 1,300 workers. This is the 2nd production halt in 3 months. GM claims the lagging sales is caused by the negative publicity (an isolated post-crash battery fire in a test vehicle). Although no actual Volts purchased by consumers have set fire, the media did some major collateral damage.

Another major concern, albeit an important one, is the pricing (base price $40k): not very attractive to the average consumer. And how about the fact that it only goes 35 miles before it taps into the gasoline engine? Perhaps GM needs to take a look inward and stop pointing fingers.

In the television commercial, Tim Allen insisted the Chevy Volt is the car "America had to build". Obviously it's not the car Americans want to buy.

SLEEPLESS IN SOCAL

Besides having a "thing" for carz, I have a "thing" for wordz and letterz. The alphabet and I are BFF's. It began when I was a child. The game of choice in our family was Scrabble. Then Boggle. Now it's Words with Friends, Scramble with Friends and Hanging with Friends. I can't get through a Sunday without doing the New York Times crossword puzzle. You get the picture - I'm a word nerd.

This morning I awoke at 4 a.m. with random, anxiety-ridden thoughts dancing through my head. What should I write for my next blog post? Should I grab my iPhone and take my turn on the many open word games I have? Should I finish yesterday's crossword puzzle? Did I charge my Kindle?

I try to erase these thoughts from my head by closing my eyes and wishing Mr. Sandman would re-appear. He did not. What did appear were more thoughts of letters and words. Only this time it wasn't random. It was organized. The letters of the alphabet kept appearing, in order. My immediate response to each letter was a word that began with said letter. For instance A-apple, B-baseball, C-cat and so on.

Then it hit me. Why don't I do that with CARZ? I went back to the letter A, charged up my neurons and started rattling off a few cars that began with the letter A. Boom. Got my idea for the next blog.

Dude, Where's My Electric Car?

I'm not ready to trade my car in yet. But when it comes time, I may consider an EV (electric vehicle) or a plug-in hybrid (combo electric/gasoline engine). The key word here is MAY.

I have certain expectations of my future "green" vehicle. It has to be pleasing to the eye and have lots of bells and whistles. I know, I'm spoiled. I'm sort of a car snob. I love beautiful cars with sexy lines. I love cars that whisper my name. I love cars that are high-tech and nerdy on the inside but exude class and elegance on the outside. I love cars with pep in their step and ones with excellent sound systems.

If I were in the market for a new EV today I would only consider two - Tesla Model S (all electric) and the Fisker Karma (plug-in hybrid). This decision is based solely on the inner and outer beauty, not the price, the specs or even a test drive. I know, you're thinking "how shallow is this chick?". I can't help it. There has to be a physical attraction. You get where I'm going with this, right?

After researching EV's, reading the test drive evals, comparing specs, viewing their pictures and seeing some in person, I have absolutely no desire to own most of the EV's on the market. I saw the Nissan Leaf the day I went to test drive the Juke. It wasn't calling my name, I wasn't physically attracted to it. Although I was quite curious, I did get a close-up, eye-balled it a few times, peeked at the interior, checked out the sticker price ($37,500), shook my head and moseyed over to the Juke. I've also seen a couple of Chevy Volts ($41,000) on the road. Not a bad looking vehicle, but not one I can see myself driving. I will make a point of heading to the Chevy dealer to get a closer look and perhaps a test drive.

So far I've only seen one Fisker Karma on the road. It was love at first sight. I took a double take. I gawked, mouth open, flies flying in. I want one of these. Oh, but wait, it's only $106,000. A girl can dream, can't she?

My selection is narrowed down to the Tesla Model S. The price is $49,900 (for the 40 kWh battery after the $7,500 federal tax credit; check to see if your state offers a tax credit). Still pretty steep but less then half the price of the Karma. And there's plenty of boring and unattractive vehicles available at this price point.

Here's what $49,900 gets you:

Frameless windows (similar to the Audi A7)
17" touch screen (as Motor Trend calls it, "an iPad on steroids")

As of November 2011, 6,500 reservations were taken for a $5,000 deposit. Production begins this month. Hmmmm, if I put a deposit down now (fully refundable), I can hopefully get my Model S this fall.

According to Chris Paine (director of Who Killed The Electric Car), "Model S is a remarkably important car. This car shows that it can be done and it will be done." I say AMEN to that and let's all get over battery anxiety.

Now guys, I wouldn't trade in your current vehicles just yet. I guarantee your wives or girlfriends won't agree with their picks in the Real-World Practical category. I know I don't.

WOMEN YOU SHOULD KNOW IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

Compared to years past, it's a much warmer welcome for women in the automotive industry. Gone are the days where women were mistaken for secretaries or wives. Gone are the days of catcalls and girly calendars on the walls.

With that said, I'd like to introduce you to 10 prominent and influential women in the automotive industry. I read through hundreds of bios and felt these 10 women were especially noteworthy based on their current contributions. Perhaps I should make this a three or four part series.

BRITTA GROSS

Britta is the Director of Global Energy Systems and Infrastructure Commercialization for GM. She has an electrical engineering degree from LSU. Gross is in charge of prepping the U.S. to be plug-in ready by working with the utility and energy companies to produce the infrastructure to support the electric vehicle. She then goes to federal, state and local governments to help pave the way for the implementation of new policies to support electric cars. Her claim to fame: the Chevy Volt. Chevy expected to sell 10,000 Volts in 2011 but came up short with 7,671. But 1,500 Volts were sold in December 2011, the best month since the Volt was launched in late 2010.

CHRISTINA RODRIGUEZ

"Chrissy" is the Vehicle Dynamics Development Engineer of the 2010 Ford Taurus. "Her job was equal parts engineer, race car driver and vehicle psychologist". She had to make sure the car was safe, handles well and had the right personality. She holds a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master's degree from University of Michigan. Chrissy hails from Puerto Rico where her father was a chemical engineer.

PAM FLETCHER

Pam is Global Chief Engineer for Chevy Volt and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Powertrains. Her prior positions include calibration engineer for Ford, assistant chief engineer for Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra and Cadillac Escalade and chief engineer for Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy. Pam holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in mechanical engineering from the GM Institute.

DIANE ALLEN

Diane is a design manager at Nissan. She won a global competition for both the 350Z and the 370Z.

CRYSTAL WINDHAM

Crystal is Director of the North American Passenger Car Interior Design for GM. She won the car of the year award for the Aura and Malibu.

CHRIS BARMAN

Chris is a Vehicle Line Executive for Chrysler. She received her mechanical engineering degree at Purdue University. She was one of the first to work on the electronic stability program and implemented it on the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Magnum. Now she's responsible for the rear-drive platforms of those vehicles.

KATHLEEN DILWORTH

Kathleen is Plant Manager, Flint Powertrain Operations at GM. She is a chemical engineer who helped launch the 1.4L engines for the Chevy Volt and Chevy Cruze.

MARTI EULBERG

Marti is VP, Global Sales, Marketing and Communications for Fisker. Her first automotive job was district manager in training at Ford in 1987. Her proudest achievements were: BMW - part of a committee that chose the agency for Mini, VOLVO - integrating an unhappy retail network into a partnership with the factory, JAGUAR - helped launch the brand in a new way. And now with Fisker, she is building the brand from the ground up.

MARY BARRA

Mary is Senior VP, Global Product Development for GM (since early 2011). She received her undergrad degree from Kettering University and her MBA from Stanford. When the CEO of GM put her in this position he received a lot of heat due to her lack of design experience. Chevy sold 2.35 million vehicles in the first 6 months of 2011 - the best 1/2 year performance in the company's 100 year history.

TRISH SERRATORE

Trish is the Senior VP, National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Her first automotive job was business editor for Motor Age magazine. She also co-founded the Women's Automotive Network.

Is it still a man's world? According to statistics by Catalyst and the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, yes, yes it is. BAH.

SHOPPING FOR A USED CAR? DON'T BUY THESE 5 OR ELSE...

According to the latest dependability study from J.D. Power and Associates and Consumer Reports, the following 5 used cars flunked with flying colors:

1) 2008 VW Beetle - owners had trouble with climate control system and power equipment.

2) 2008 VW Passat - shocking because this car gets rave reviews when new. Consumer Reports give it a below-average rating due to problems with the fuel, electrical and climate systems and power equipment.

3) 2008 GMC Acadia - received a worse-than-average rating from Consumer Reports due to problems with the audio system and suspension.

4) 2008 Ford Expedition - also has a worse-than-average rating by Consumer Reports due to problems with the transmission and audio system.

5) 2008 Chrysler Town and Country - This is the year that the manufacturing quality declined for Chrysler. Consumer Reports give it a much-worse-than-average rating due to problems with brakes, suspension, power equipment and climate system.

I'VE BEEN "JUKED"! Review of the 2012 Nissan Juke

Although the Nissan Juke was introduced last year, I've only seen one on the road. It was at that moment (I did a double-take) I decided I must check out this most unusual and funky looking vehicle. I wondered why Nissan would take a chance by producing a vehicle that looks like a frog not long after it produced a cube.

I've been a fan of Nissan for many years, once owning an '85 Maxima and a '99 Infinity (luxury division of Nissan) QX4. Never had problems with either of those vehicles and enjoyed driving them. I even admire the Altima: its' good looks and all that it has to offer.

I drove to CONNELL NISSAN in Costa Mesa and was greeted by Willy Lopez. My first question to Willy was, "why are all the Jukes hidden in the back, how are you supposed to sell these?". To which he replied, "someone was supposed to bring one up front today, but I did sell one last night". My guess is Nissan is pushing LEAF (electric vehicle) sales. There were three, front and center.

At first glance, I couldn't help but notice the big, round bulging headlights, which obviously gave the Juke its' nickname, Frog. The eye-catching vertical rear door handles also add to the line-up of unusual features. But since I come from the school of thought where you don't judge a book by its' cover, I felt it only fair that I get to know this most unique looking vehicle.

The Juke is a combination of a compact crossover SUV and a sports car. And I use the term sports car very loosely because if you base it on pure looks, then I'll lean more towards the crossover. I'll give it some sports car kudos based on the 1.6L, 188hp, 16-valve turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It comes in 3 models, the "S", the "SV" and the top of the line "SL". All three come with CVT: continuously variable transmission that acts like an automatic. I chose the "SL" model not only because those are my initials, but because I love driving vehicles with all the bells and whistles. Go big or go home.

I was definitely impressed with the youthful and sporty interior that thankfully didn't give me the dreaded "plastic-y" feel. The center console houses a 5" color touch-screen monitor which was user friendly and fun to play with. It is here where the I-CON (integrated control) and climate control systems are located (I'll further elaborate on the I-CON when discussing the drive). There are two cup holders and a receptacle to hold your sunglasses, cell phone, keys and/or garage opener. Having two cup holders and a large enough receptacle to hold my "stuff" are two features that I demand in my vehicle.

The seating accommodates 5 adults comfortably with ample leg room. Although the cargo space is quite limited, it can easily be increased by folding down the rear seats. So if you have a large family and need room for a stroller, this car is not for you. The SL model comes with a moon roof which, when open, gives the car a roomier feel. I can't imagine driving this car without one.

Because I have a love for music, I will not purchase a vehicle without a decent sound system. In the SL model, there are 6 upgraded (if that's what they want to call it) speakers plus a Rockford Fosgate-powered 8" subwoofer. Whoop-di-do. I was not impressed. It sounded tinny. No more discussion on this.

Now for the drive. The 1.6L turbocharged engine left little to be desired UNTIL I changed from "normal" mode to "sport" mode. The Juke can be driven in three modes: normal, sport and eco. The steering, throttle and transmission response are controlled by a push of a button, depending on your mood. I started out in "normal" mode and expected some decent power right off the line. Sadly the Juke did not deliver. Willy, my salesperson, reminded me to change to the "sport" mode in time for the next red light. Surprisingly enough, the Jukester pulled through! Finally some power! I've been officially juked!

Although there wasn't much traffic for me to weave in and out of, I still felt the tight suspension and the ease of the maneuverability. Steering was very responsive and quite peppy. Braking was smooth and effortless. The all-around visibility was good too.

As far as safety goes, the Juke rates very high with the IIHS. It's one of their top safety picks based on crash-test results. Gas mileage averages are 27mpg for city and 32mpg for highway. I would have expected those numbers to be a little better. But hey, ya can't have everything.

Some other SL features are: rearview camera, heated front seats, keyless entry, fog lights, auto headlights & push-button ignition.

All in all, I like the combination of the boldness and uniqueness of this vehicle. I love the quasi-European styling of the interior. For a top of the line model in the $25K range, you get a lot of car for your money.

To me, the Juke screams, "I'm different, I'm funky". And you know what? There's nothing wrong with being different and funky.

TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE? MAYBE NOT...

Most of you probably have a little sticker on the upper left-hand corner of your windshield reminding you of your next oil change in 3,000 miles. That reminder, my friend, is a complete myth.

According to Phillip Reed, senior consumer advice editor of Edmunds.com, "there was a time when 3,000 miles was a good guideline, but it's no longer true for any car bought in the last 7 or 8 years; the oil chemistry and engine technology have improved so much over the years".

Although the average car's oil change interval is around 7,800 miles and as high as 20,000 miles (for Porsches), the 3,000 mile recommendation is an obvious tactic to keep the automotive service people busy. It's also a marketing ploy to get you into the dealership on a regular basis, whether in the service bay or on the showroom floor.

According to Steve Mazor, manager of AAA's research center, "more frequent-than-necessary oil changes won't gain any additional life for your engine or improved fuel economy; it will make little or no difference to the performance of the vehicle".

So what should you do? Your best bet is to check the maintenance chapter of your owner's manual. Don't tell me. Lemme guess. You've never opened it before. Now is a good time to start. If you misplaced it, many manuals can be found online. Also, if you have an oil life monitoring system, rely on that, don't second guess it.

Meanwhile, here are a few helpful tidbits about changing your oil:

1) If you don't put many miles on your car, your maintenance schedule will have to be altered. A car that sits around for long periods of time without use means contaminated oil sits around longer in the engine. The longer contaminated oil sits around, the more it degrades.

2) If you drive a turbo charged or high-performance car, use synthetic oil. Synthetics have excellent temperature resistance, durability and all around performance. Although it costs more, you can go longer between oil changes. Most other cars do fine with conventional oil.

3) Every time you change the oil, change the filter too.

4) Don't know what the numbers mean on the bottle? See the chart below.

5) Make sure the engine oil bottle has the API (American Petroleum Institute) certification seal.

So stop wasting money and unnecessarily harming the environment and rip that sticker off your windshield.

DON’T BE SCAMMED: THE INSIDE SCOOP FROM AN AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR

There’s a trust factor issue related to so many industries in this country (i.e., health care) and the automotive repair industry is high on the list. According to 3 consumer protection agencies, the category most complained about was the automotive industry, specifically, faulty repairs. What is it about the auto repair and service industry that keeps getting a bad rap? Is it due to the worsening economy where more mechanics are engaging in shady practices? Perhaps. But weren't mechanics ripping off consumers during better economic times of yore?

I remember a couple of years ago, one of the major TV networks did a piece where consumers went undercover to several different “auto repair” shops. Hidden cameras were placed under the hood. The unfortunate but obvious conclusion was that the majority of the mechanics were trying to scam the consumer.

Unfortunately, the lack of consumer confidence in the auto repair industry has been around for ages. Most people believe that mechanics will go out of their way to rip you off and provide services your car never needed in the first place. Not all mechanics or car maintenance people are untrustworthy. You just gotta do your due diligence before you head out the door.

Frequently I hear, “Where should I take my car for an oil change; should I go back to the dealership or go to my local lube shop?” or “ I need new tires, should I pay a visit to the local tire shop or to the mega discount chain?”. It depends.

Most of us rely on word of mouth by our family or friends. Others rely on online reviews from Yelp or Angies List. But are these reviews legit or are they written by friends and/or family members of the mechanic and/or establishment? Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

For this reason, I decided to consult with Jim Therrien, a Service Advisor (for over 10 years) at a major auto dealership in Orange County, California. Jim offers the following CAVEAT EMPTOR advice …

1) Check for certifications and licenses that should be on display (by ASE, AAA, state).

2) Check for cleanliness of the facility. Is it a clean garage or are the floors littered with rags and empty oil cans?

3) When buying new tires, ask when the tires were manufactured (oops, I didn’t even do that last summer). There’s a chance I just bought 4 year old treads!

4) Ask questions: How long have you been in business? What does the warranty include and how long is it good for? How old is your equipment? You don’t want to go to a place that says, “We don’t need fancy equipment”. Don’t be shy.

5) Be suspicious if a mechanic recommends a coolant and/or power steering flush. Most cars have fluid that’s designed to go 100K miles.

6) NEVER sign a blank authorization form. This is a no-brainer. Get specific information written and quoted for each job and have the mechanic/proprietor sign before you do.

7) If you need work on catalytic converters or emissions parts, check with your dealer first because these two areas are usually covered under your warranty.

8) You might want to turn around and walk out the door if the mechanic says to you, “I wouldn’t drive this car for another mile”. This comment is pretty extreme and meant to alarm you into guilt.

While trying to further broaden my CHIX AND CARZ blogging career, I happily stumbled upon AskPatty.com. You’re probably wondering what the heck that has to do with the auto repair industry. It has EVERYTHING (well, almost everything) to do with this industry. This highly informative website is one that “offers design, training and certification to automotive retail and service centers on how to attract, sell, retain and increase loyalty with women customers”.

“Women can find an Ask Patty certified female-friendly auto dealer, tire dealer, collision center, auto service and repair centers using the location search” on the front page. I used this handy search feature twice, using both my current zip code (in Orange County, CA) and also my previous zip code (Chicago, IL). Both search results came up with plenty of options. I’m almost due for an oil change, so I’m definitely going to use the AskPatty.com’s certified center, it's one that I can trust.

MY SAVVY NAVI APP!

Are you still printing directions from Mapquest and wasting trees? Shame on you!

My 2007 VW Eos does NOT have built-in Navi, but I do own an iPhone. iPhone=apps=several navi apps to choose from. I chose TomTom. I've had it for 3 years now and absolutely love it! It was worth the $49.99. I did not opt for the traffic update for $20/year and I'm questioning myself as to why I didn't.

TomTom always gets the job done. The quality of the maps are excellent and the routing is good. All of the map data is stored on your phone so an internet connection isn't needed for routes to be calculated. So if you're in the boonies, this comes in handy.

The TomTom app also ties into local Google listings which is a totally awesome feature (data connection is needed for this).

Another nice feature is the "night mode". The color automatically switches to a darker shade when the calculated local sunset occurs. This makes the app much easier to see during the night.

There's a lot of info to view on such a small screen. On the bottom, starting at the left, you can see your current speed along with the road's speed limit (i find this very handy since I tend to have a lead foot). The arrow depicts the shape and path of the road that you'll be taking. You can see the distance to your next turn (i.e. in 1.7 miles). And finally, off to the right, you can see how much time remains on your trip along with a display of the local time.

The only disadvantages I've experienced are: 1) the updates must be installed from your computer due to the file size, 2) the app is slow to load and 3) the app sucks the life out of your battery. PATIENCE is a virtue and good things come to those who wait, right?

Before you hit the road, you'll need 2 very important accessories.

1) CHARGING CABLE - This app (and probably most others) literally sucks the life out of your battery. Oh, didn't I just mention that?!

2) WINDSHIELD MOUNT - A must have. You'll need a line of sight and have your phone as close to the sky as possible. Placing your iPhone on the passenger seat or even inside your drink holder is NOT a good option. I recommend and use the Kensington Windshield/Vent Mount.

And finally, the TomTom gives turn-by-turn instructions in 38 languages. I chose English AU. Olivia, along with her Aussie accent, has been my traveling BFF for 3 years now and I'd never leave home without her.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE PICK-UP TRUCK OBSESSION?

When I first moved to Southern California four years ago, one of the first things I noticed was the overwhelming abundance of pick-up trucks. Coming from a big city like Chicago where pick-ups are pretty rare, I was quite taken aback with this obsession, and I do mean obsession.

I asked myself, "did I move to a farming community where hauling hay and towing Deere equipment is commonplace?" Don't think so. "Are these pick-ups owned by young surfer dudes so they can transport their surfboards?" For some, yes. But why not install a board rack on your economical and green vehicle? Gas mileage isn't that great for these trucks. You'd think that California drivers would be more conscientious about conserving gas.

I also noticed plenty of middle-aged, suit and tie wearing men driving these monsters, decorated with various decals like TAPOUT. Perhaps they'll be hauling their ATV's to the desert for the weekend.

So what's with the pick-up truck phenomenon? I just don't get it. If you're not a farmer, you're not a surfer dude, you're not in construction and you don't have ATV's to haul, please enlighten me.

Here in my neighborhood, I've seen trucks rigged out with pricey rims, enormous tailpipes, special paint, fancy running boards and lift kits, to name a few. Are these owners (who just dished out thousands of dollars on after-market parts) taking their pretty, pimped-out monsters for some off-roading? Highly doubtful.

No matter what people use their pick-ups for, one thing for sure - they're just oozing with testosterone (which leads me to another question, "why on earth do I see so many women driving them too?). This vehicle screams, "I am manly, I need to be noticed and I require steroids and stilts". Is this a version of the Napoleon syndrome?

The Fiat 500c Lounge Test Drive

I first set eyes on this vehicle at the LA Auto Show two weeks ago, although I did see the J-Lo commercials prior to my visit. From that moment on, I wondered how this baby would handle on the road and if I would love it as much as I do my VW Eos. I'm always drawn to convertibles/open-air vehicles and this one drew me in.

So off I go to the first Fiat Studio (that's Fiat lingo for dealership) in Orange County - aptly named Orange Coast Fiat. As Jeff and I pulled into the lot, we were surrounded by hundreds of baby Fiats - all different colors and models (with the exception of the Abarth and the Gucci). They all looked cute as a button, I just wanted to give them all a hug.

While we were bouncing from car to car, we were warmly greeted by a very pretty and young Lila Jahangiri. Lila is not a car salesperson. Lila is a Fiat Specialist and rightly so. After I singled out the silver Lounge model, front wheel drive with body side, red racing stripe decals and 6-speed automatic (27mpg city, 32mpg hwy), Lila quickly returned with keys in hand.

Because this is a very small car (smaller than the Mini Cooper), less than 140" in length, we felt it would be best that Lila sit in the backseat since she is much more petite than Jeff! Before I entered the car, I did a slow once-over of the interior, stroking the seats and playing with the knobs and dials. I was very impressed with the two-toned leather interior of red and black (a $1,250.00 option). It added a lot of pizazz and the color combo was a perfect match to the exterior. When I first sat in the driver's seat, it immediately felt comfy and cozy. After manually adjusting the seats (not a big fan, but hey, they had to cut costs somewhere), I noticed that the instrumentation and controls were all in convenient locations. The sharp and snazzy styling was quite appealing, something I don't usually see in American autos.

And of course the Bordeaux (cloth) electric roof is down. Which, by the way, can be operated while the vehicle is in motion at up to 60 mph. Good thing Jeff didn't have his hat on!

Time to take 'er for a spin! I pulled out of the lot, made a right turn onto somewhat of a busy street, cruisin' at about 40 mph and so far it's feelin' pretty good. The steering isn't as tight as I'd like it to be, but it is in the "sport" mode, which gives the vehicle tighter steering and tighter suspension. We hit a red light and I immediately feel the ultra sensitive brakes with just a tap. The light turns green and I step on the gas. Surprisingly enough there was plenty of pep in her step! I anticipated a snail-like reaction off the line (kind of like "the little engine that could"), but she really pulled through for me. Not bad for a 1.4L, 4 cylinder, 101 hp engine. She knew she couldn't let me down and she didn't.

While crusin', Lila reminded me to turn on the Sirius Satellite radio because, after all, the Bose premium audio system is standard, another wonderful surprise. Because we essentially drove on flat terrain, I didn't really notice the tight suspension. But all in all, the Fiat 500c was fun to drive and the smallness didn't bother me one bit. The ride was smooth and she handles turns and lane changes with ease. The price point - low to mid 20's. But one thing for sure, this is definitely a CHIX car.

After we pulled in the lot, Lila invited us in to see the "Studio". It's ultra modern, sporting a snack/beverage bar, lounge looking chairs, a display of wheels and Fiat clothing.

She then introduced me to a very nice guy, Robert Kamarzarian, the studio Manager. Robert wanted to make a sale and who can blame him. I told him that I'm interested in the Abarth model (160 hp, turbo) which won't be available in their studio until March 2012. He offered to let me purchase the Lounge and trade it in when the Abarth comes in, with no cash lost. I told him that I appreciated the offer, but will wait the 3 months and see how I feel then. Because as of now, I'm not ready to part with my Eos (which only has 36K miles).
