I'm super excited about this post simply because it's something different to what I normally upload. I've been contemplating posting content like this for a while but was a little worried I wouldn't have much to talk about but I've decided to go for it. This won't exactly be a regular thing but might make it so I post something like this twice a month or so.

So lately I've been doing a lot of clothes shopping which isn't me at all. If you know me at all you would know how much I hate doing any sort of shopping regardless of what it's for. I don't mind online shopping but even then I only enjoy book shopping or stationary things so for me to have spent 4 hours shopping with my mum (who also hates shopping) and also do online shopping was super out of the ordinary. I have a few things to share with you guys, however not everything I bought is in this haul unfortunately.

BooHoo

I love boohoo so so so much. I have ordered a lot of the clothes I own from this site simply because it's pretty cheap. Not everything is cheap of course but a lot of the stuff I like to get is at a good price. The only problem is, is that the cheapness in some of the clothes actually shows and the fitting isn't always the best. But the tops are usually pretty good.

1. Grace Slinky Deep Plundge Crop Khaki (£6.00 size 8) : I usually don't go for tops like this simply because the material isn't always the most flattering. Also due it the type of top (crop-top) it kind of makes it that much more unflattering. However I saw it on the model on the website and thought for the price why not. It came back and I was still a little unsure about it but then finally decided to keep it because I thought if I was ever going out on a night out it would look stunning with a pair of high waste jeans or a balck denim skirt and black belt.
2. Sara V Neck Basic Top Black (£6.00 size 8) : This top another crop top that's (as the name says it) very basic. I actually think this top looks really lovely on especially with a chocker and a necklace and a pair of high waisted jeans.

3. Jasmine Yellow Floral BodySuit Yellow (£8.00 size 8) : I absolutely adore this bodysuit. i usually don't go for printed tops especially not anything with colour in but I saw this and fell in love. When it came back I knew I had to keep it. The only problem with this is that it doesn't do up at the crotch which makes it difficult when wearing it out and going to the toilet.

4. Petite Mimi Basic V Neck Strappy Bodysuit Black/Merlot (£6.00 size 8) : I have this bodysuit in two colours and I really like it. It's a little bit loose near the breasts because of the materiel but that may also be due to me having smaller boobs than most. Nevertheless I think it's a very nice materiel as it's comfy and fits nicely without it being tight.

5. Hannah Striped Jersey Shorts White (£8.00 size 8) : I love these shorts so much. I don't usually go for things like this simply because I don't feel they look very nice on me but I saw these and had to get them. I have to say they look super pretty and to be honest they are probably my favourite piece that I bought from boohoo.

H&M

Who doesn't love H&M I mean it's great clothing, stuff that is most defintely in style for affordable prices. I never used to be one for it but my friend started working there maybe 2 years ago? and she always used to wear clothes that were from there and from then on I fell in love. Definitely a great place to shop.

1. Playsuit Black (£12.99 size 8) : So when I went shopping with my mum I had a lot of things ready to try on and just as I was on the way to the changing room I spotted this. I fell in love let me tell you. It's so simple yet so cute and flattering. It fits nicely on my hips and waist and then the shoulder straps are adjustable so everything fits how you want it. Beautiful.
2. Crinkled Top Green (£9.99 size 8) : This top is super cute and when I saw it I knew I was going to love it. They also had this in black as well as white which I also tried on but the white was too transparent for my liking. Super cute for summer.

3. Crinkled Top Black (£9.99 size 8) : I This top if of course the same as number 2 but in a different colour. If I ever pick up a top in a colour and they have it in black I will always get that too.

4. Crushed Velvet Strappy Top Pink (£9.99 size S) : I saw this top when I walked into the shop and instantly fell in love. I'm not much for pink things so for me to like this was just pretty amazing. I showed my mum and she hated it but when I tried it on it looked super cute. This is the type of top that could be dressed up for a night out or could be dressed down for a more casual look.

5. Crushed Velvet Strappy Top Navy (£9.99 size S) : I saw this after I saw the pink one and again though why the hell why not. This one, although looks amazing, is a little big on me. It is a small which usually the sizes in H&M are pretty good this definitely was not a small. I think I should have went with XS simply because it kept coming down near the cleavage area showing off my bra. Luckily I have bought some nice lace non padded bras from Primark which look amazing under it.

Asos

I don't know a single person who doesn't love asos. It's probably one of my favourite places simply because you can find great styles for affordable prices but then there are also the more expensive stuff on there too. I sometimes even go on here to look at things that I like because I know it's most definitely in fashion and then when I'm out or online elsewhere I look for similar stuff for cheaper.

1. Pull&Bear Longline Denim Jacket Light Blue (£39.99 size S) : Now this I love!!! I can't explain how much I love this one piece of clothing. I'm a pretty big lover of denim jackets but am super fussy with them so for me to have found this bought it and loved it is a huge thing for me. It's longer than a normal denim jacket which is what I love most about it and you can pretty much wear it with any top and any bottoms. I even wore this with a dress and it looked amazing. Can't praise it enough.

2. New Look Petite Cropped Jacket Camel (£34.99 size 6) : I got this in a size 6 simply because I wanted it to be more fitted and I wanted the sleeves to be a little more up my wrist. I am so glad I did because it looks amazing. I first saw this when my mum bought it and I just had to have it. I found it in store in new look and never picked it up but when I saw it on asos when I was ordering I just decided to go for it. And boy am I glad I did.
3. ASOS Crop Top with Mirrored Chinoiserie Embroidery Light Grey (£12.00 size 8) : I love when I go onto ASOS tops and find something that I absolutely fall in love with. This top was one of them. I wore this the day after I got it with my denim jacket and a pair of black leggings and loved what it looked like. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Matalan

Now I'm not one for matalan I have to say. But I went on there looking for some shoes and was pretty successful in what i found.

1. Slip on Canvas Pump Black (£10.00 size 5) : I've seen these a lot over the past 2 years or so and I used to hate them but now I love them. I think they look super cute with jeans/leggings and are so cheap. I've always had a problem with shoes because my feet are long and skinny. So these have never fitted me properly so I was sceptical when I ordered these. WHen they came back however they fit like a glove... almost. They are very comfortable to wear but are a little hard soled.

2. Slip On Pumps White (£10.00 size 5) : Again, same as number 1. They are great. This colour reminds me of nursing shoes but hey I think they look super nice.
3. Rose Gold Hoop Earrings (£9.99 One Size) : I saw this girl on youtube who was wearing hoop earrings like these and she explained that she had been obsessed with them. Now I do not ever wear earrings not even studs so for me to get these it took some debating. Of course I got them and I love them. They do look a little 'pikey' what we call it but I think for a night out they would look very nice.
4. High Heel Ankle Boots (£12.00 size 5) : I never ever ever wear high heels, not even when I got out out. But I saw these on sale and because they are skinny going up the ankle I decided to give it a shot (clearly I've been feeling doing stuff out of my comfort zone a lot lately haha). They came back and I am obsessed. They look super adorable, not sure what I would wear them with yet maybe a black denim skirt and a nice top who knows but I'm hoping to wear them very soon.

Finally here are some photos of me wearing a few of the items mentioned. I haven't included everything I have bought because I would be here for hours (which I have already) and I do want to get other things done today haha. I did buy a few other things from H&M as well as other items from Primark so maybe I'll do a part 2 who knows...

"Childrens Books"

This is quite funny, I've been thinking about doing a post for a few months dedicated to childrens books and what got me reading etc. so when I saw this I was immediately planning and writing down different books and authors I loved. This is a super hard choice narrowing it down to 5 mainly because there are lot of books that I love by two individual authors. But I also didn't want this to be about just two different authors so I decided to pick my favourties and then pick a few others I remember from when I was a lot younger.

Number One

The Witches by Roald Dahl

This book is one of my favourite childhood books. I love Roald Dahl's work a lot and this book is deifnielty one of my favourites and hold a special place in my heart. My mum also loves this book a lot which is another reason why I think I like this book a lot.

Number Two

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

This book is something I used to love when I was very little. I think it's one of the most popular childrens stories which may be why I remember it so much. I think it's such a cute story with a little education in it as to where butterflies come from.

Number Three

Staring Tracey Beaker by Jacqueline Wilson

THIS!! I mean, I'm not a huge fan of Jacqueline Wilson and I had a friend who was pretty obsessed, she loved her stuff. Me, I wasn't so keen but I borrowed this book off a friend and took it home and read it in one sitting. After I finished it I was talking to my mum about how much I enjoyed it and I sat down again and reread the whole thing. I think this is one of the books that really started my love for reading as a child and after this I started to get into the goosebumps books etc. (Which I loved).

Number Four

The Twits by Roald Dahl

Another Roald Dahl book of course. The twits is another of my favourites and guess what, my mums too. I think we shared a very common interest in Roald Dahl's books and I think that's why I instantly think of Roald Dahl when I think of childhood books.

If you haven't read any of Dahl's books I highly suggest you do. You won't be disappointed.

Number Five

We're Going On A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
Last but not least, We're going on a bear hunt was a book I'm pretty sure I know from school. I don't recall how old I was on how I even came about to reading it whether it was read to my class or if it was off my own back. But this is a cute little story which for some reason I still find myself quoting the 'we can't go over it...' phrase that is repeated throughout this book.

A string of inmates have committed suicide, leaving no reasons why, and her predecessor has disappeared - along with his notes. The staff are hostile, the threat of violence is ever-present, and there are rumours of an eyeless woman stalking the corridors, punishing the inmates for their sins.

Janet is determined to find out what is really going on. But the longer she stays and the deeper she digs, the more uncertain she feels.Halvergate is haunted by something. But it may be a terror worse than ghosts...

Disclaimer : I received this book as per my request from Hodder and Stoughton, so a huge thank you to them. This review will in no way be biased and is 100% my own opinion.

This book follows a woman named Janet who begins her new job at Halvergate Prison. She is the new psychologist for sex offenders within this prison but soon finds out something strange is going on. This book follows a Third POV through unravelling this mystery that's taking over the prison.

First off I want to say that I really freaking enjoyed this book. I know it's a short book and most people could probably read this within a day or two but it did take me a little longer purely because it was so creepy and as I am a night reader it did kind of shake me up. Maybe that's me being a little of a wimp but I live for it haha.

I will say I'm not a huge fan of Point Of Views that are third person simply because I don't feel I can connect with the characters that much and again this book I still felt that but nowhere near as much as I usually do. This book was super interesting and got me so interested in Janets life as well as getting to know one of the sex offenders a little more (michael) and also Steven. These were all great characters. As much as I hated Michael, I loved him too. His character was pretty great and I think his part was well played.

I also loved how this book had mini flashbacks throughout which went back to Janet's life when she was a lot younger. There weren't too many so it was overpowering, there were just the right amount which was nice.

The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the ending. I was expecting it so that's great but I think it was a little sloppy. This book does deal with religion as well as slight touching on Greek mythology which was kind of cool. However I would have liked a better ending. Never the less a great book and if I saw this on the shelf I would definitely pick it up. I mean that cover looks so spooky how could you not?

The Sunday Post is a 'meme' created by Kim over at caffinatedbookreviewer. I came across her blog a while back and absolutely fell in love with it so definitely go check it out. I decided that I would participate in this every week simply because it will help me not only keep track of my blog but also it will add more personal information about me for you. So without further ado, my Sunday Post.

This week has been kind of a good week for me. I went to watch The House with my boyfriend which was so great. I don't usually like comedy movies but Will Ferrell is such a good actor I can't help but love the movies he's in. I haven't had a lot of time for reading this week which sucks but I'm still happy I finished The Binding Song.

I also went shopping with my mum and bought quite a few nice tops and bras for myself which was nice considering I'm not a big clothes shopper and never find anything I like.

One other point which I thought I'd put across is that I'm thinking about changing up my blog a bit. I've decided to keep it mostly as a book blog, so still the same content but adding other posts here and there. I was thinking I would add some beauty posts now and again and maybe some mothly 'what I've been loving non bookish'. I thought it would be nice to share with you guys more about me other than just books. Let me know what you think?

So I have decided to put my Monthly Wrap-Up's and Monthly TBR's all into one post as i don't feel it's worth putting into two different posts simply because there's not a lot I'm sharing with you guys. Putting the content together just makes a lot more sense in my opinion (unless you read a ton of books in a month, which I certainly do not, unfortunately).

Monthly Wrap-Up : June 2017

I actually didn't get around to reading as many books as I would have liked in the month of June but still I read 4 books which I'm still very happy about of course. I have reviews for all books mentioned in this Wrap-Up on my blog if you are interested.

All of these books above were rated either 3 stars or above which means overall I had a pretty good reading month in relation to 'good books'. I'm hoping to start reading more and more as the months pass by but no rush I guess.

I'd love to hear off you guys what you read in the month of June!!

Monthly TBR : July 2017

Now I will say I am not a huge fan of TBR's simply because I never stick to them. That's usually because I end up not in the mood to read what I've put down, I've picked new books which I more excited about or simply because I'm in a reading slump. But I still like to do these posts because I feel a little more organised plus it's something I love watching on youtube and reading on blogs so I want to give that content to my readers who love it too.

I'd also love to know what books you're planning on reading this month. I have already started The Binding Song so hoping to finish that very soon!!

Top 5 Wednesday • Books Without Romance (#14)

"Books Without Romance"

I'm actually quite excited about this weeks topic as there are not many books that don't contain some sort of romance. I've come up with 5 books that I think fit into this category. Not saying these are books I highly recommend it's just these are the ones that popped into my head when I read the title and decided to stick with them.

Number One

The Binding Song by Elodie Harper

So this is my current read and so far I'm loving it.
This book is written in third person and follows one main character as she tries to discover what's happening at the prison she works at. There is a little romance involved with her and her boyfriend but it's brief and is only there to build up the characters profile and background.

Number Two

The Doll's House by M. J. Arlidge

I read this book a few years back and really loved it. In fact I love this series. The 5th book wasn't the best if I'm honest but definitely one of my favourtie series'.

So when this topic came about I instantly thought of my nystery thriller type books mainly because their focus is on solving a crime or finding something out so there's not a lot of time to be getting caught up in any romance/love affair.

It's a great book if you're looking to start a mystery/crime series. Although this is the third book within this series.

Number Three

Baby Doll by Hollie Overton

This book is another one I really love. Its quite a short novel but it's great. This book does touch on past relationships but it's mainly the aftermath of a kidnapping.

If you haven''t already read this book I highly suggest you do it's a great story and it's super facisnating seeing the aftermath of a kidnapping rather than the during.

Number Four

This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

This book follows four different perspectives over the time period of around 52 minutes I believe. It's based around a school shooting where students are locked in one room whilst the shooter holds them hostage.

This book does mention relationships but only very minor as it is mainly about the shooting. This book it pretty short so would recommend if you're interested.

Number Five

Lighter Than My Shadow by
I bought and read this book within one day and fell in love with it. It's a memoir about eating disorders as well as touching on some other subjects such as rape.

This book really touched me and I loved how all the art work was just a mix of black and white tones instead of actual colours.

A poetry collection divided into four different parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, & you. the princess, the damsel, & the queen piece together the life of the author in three stages, while you serves as a note to the reader & all of humankind. Explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations.

Let me just start off by saying this book was amazing!!

I read this within half hour whilst in the leisure center car park waiting for my boyfriend to come out of the gym and I loved it. It's a collection of poem spilt into 3 different sections all explaining a different part of her life through poetry.

Now, I've seen a lot of people talk about how this isn't poetry and pressing enter after every word or few words does not make something poetry. And maybe it doesn't but this story was beautiful. It was full of love and heartbreak and sadness and from reading it you felt all of those emotions plus more.

It's amazing what so little words can make you feel. I mean this was a short little book with only a number of words on each page and it made me feel so much more emotion than a lot of 400 page book shave done.

After I read this it kind of made me feel strong and independent but also sad. It was such a strange feeling but I loved every minute of reading this.

I could have give this a 5 star rating but at the same time I felt there was something missing that I couldn't place my finger on.

So this week has been pretty slow. The weather hasn't exactly been great other than yesterday and today. I've mainly been hanging out with my boyfriend and my sister a lot. My sister did my nails for me which they actually look pretty amazing I really love them. Also me and my boyfriend went to watch the new Transformers movie which I fricking loved. I ain't into transformers movies never have had any interest in watching them but Jake was begging me to go even said he would pay for my ticket so I was like alright I'll go. And boy am I glad I did. Other than that it's been a slow week nothing special has gone on sadly but then again it's nice to have a nice chilled out week.

Hope your week has been a little more exciting haha!!

I have enjoyed Adrian Tomine's work recently and couldn't wait to jump into this book. I was let down almost with this particular one simply because I wanted more. I feel all his sorties are kind of the same and I kind of wish i'd have left reading this for another few months.

Nevertheless, the artwork was freaking insane as always. I find it to be so simple looking yet absolutely incredible. I liked how each story had different artwork whether it be from the layout to the colour it just made it that extra little bit better for me.

There were stories that I liked more than others within this and if I'm honest was a little gutted about because I was expecting a lot more which is why I gave it only a 3 star rating.

If you like Tomine's work I would definitely check this book out if you haven't already. It a beautiful book to add to your collection with it's stunning duct cover and boo cover illustrations.

This weeks topic I am loving. When I saw this was a topic I got super excited and thought of a lot of different relationships within books but then when it came to actually picking I couldn't remember any of what I'd thought about. Unfortunately this week I only have 4 to share with you but enjoy!!

Number One

Juliette and Warner (Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi)

So of course if you have read Shatter Me, you know that Adam is the good guy who should be with Juliette. He's sweet with her and nice but he's also a little too quiet for my liking.

Warner on the other hand is the bad guy I guess and the chemistry between him and Juliette is something I hate but can't help but wanna read more of.

Number Two

Joe and Beck (You #1 by Caroline Kepnes)

Ah! Joe and Beck! Their relationship was so iniproproate that it became facinating and interesting to read about. It was of course a very unhealthy psychotic fucked up shit storm but it was addicting!!!

You knew it was going to end bad. Hey it didn't even start off good but it was gripping from the very start.

Number Three

Lochan + Maya (Forbidden)

Regardless of if you have read this book or not you more than likely have heard of it. If not then not to worry this is no spoiler!

Lochan and Maya are brother and sister. But they are in love. I read this and it made me feel uncomfortable not going to lie. Of course it's bound it it's about incest but nevertheless I was still rooting for both characters until the end.

If it were a normal relationship this would have been cute.

Number Four

Charlotte and Riley (Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow)

Charlotte is this sad, depressed girl who has had a hard life. She meets Riley and everything turns to shit again.

Riley is not good for Charlotte at all and everyone knows it but reading how he sometimes makes me feel whether it be bad or good was addicting. Of course you never would want them to be together in the end but I liked the relationship while it lasted simply because it was so fascinatingly addicting.

I thought it would be a fun little post that I would enjoy making. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed making it, and if you haven't done this post already then I tag you!

Reading On The Couch Or In Bed?
Bed. I absolutely love reading in bed. It's where I feel most relaxed and because I have an attic room and it's all white it makes me feel like my mind can rest and there's not a lot going on.

Male Or Female Main Character?
Female. I mean who doesn't love a good strong female character lead? I don't mind male perspectives but a lot of the time I feel I can connect more with female characters.

Sweet Or Salty Snacks While Reading?
Salty. I actually don't tend to eat when I'm reading but if I was going to pick I would most definitely say salty. I'm not much of a sweet toothed person to start off with.

Trilogies Or Quartets?
Trilogies. I'm not really bothered by this but I think trilogies are nice because they give you that little extra without being too long and dragging the story. But both are fine.

First Person Or Third Person POV?
First Person. Not a fan of Third Person POV. I feel I don't connect with the character as much and I feel I'm outside peering in at something else. Whereas if it's in first person I feel it easier to get inside the head of the protagonist and follow the story better.

Night Or Morning Reader?
Night. I'm like an owl, I'm sleeping in the day and awake in the night. I feel a lot more lively and feel I take a lot more in just before bed when I'm going to sleep although I have read a few times in the morning which has been pleasant if you have nothing to do. But I will forever be a night time reader.

Libraries Or Book Stores?
Book Stores. Both are great of course, but there's nothing like the feeling of walking into a nice book store and getting books that are brand new in perfect condition.

Books That Make You Laugh Or Cry?
Cry. I'm quite an emotional person as it is so I love when a book touches me enough to cry. I don't often laugh at books and if I do it's only a little giggle but crying at a book I feel means a lot more.

Black Or White Covers?
Black. I love both black and white covers because they look so clean and simple but I think black looks that little bit more neater and more appealing. Here are some of my favourites.

Character Driven Or Plot Driven Stories?

Character Driven. I think this is a hard choice to made but I feel I enjoy a book more for their characters than the plot itself.

The Sunday Post is a 'meme' created by Kim over at caffinatedbookreviewer. I came across her blog a while back and absolutely fell in love with it so definitely go check it out. I decided that I would participate in this every week simply because it will help me not only keep track of my blog but also it will add more personal information about me for you. So without further ado, my second Sunday Post.

Monday was my first day where I could just completely chill out. My nephew came up and me and my sister blew a pool up for him, and when I say blew it up I literally mean we had to do it ourselves because we couldn't find our pump. Roman (my nephew) loved it though. He's such an outdoorsy little boy, only 22 months. The rest of the week was a slow week with just me and my boyfriend hanging out and also hanging out a lot with my sister.

Unfortunately, on Friday my bampi passed away. It's been a hard couple of months trying to come to terms with his cancer and everything that's been happening. Don't want to go into too much detail simply because I'm quite a private person but I wanted to mention him on my blog because he was an absolutely amazing man. I keep catching myself thinking about him and the tears come flooding. I will miss him loads but it's all about helping my nan and mum as much as possible now!!

My boyfriend has been there for me a lot with this which is great and I'm trying to keep myself occupied enough so that it's not constantly on my mind (although that makes me feel somewhat guilty). I'm not sure if I'm going to be as active on my blog this week but I'll definitely try my best. It should help me take my mind off things though!

Hope your guys weeks have been better.

Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

First, I want to start off by saying I absolutely loved this book and would probably give it a 4.5 stars more so than 4.

This book follows a girl named Charlotte who starts off in a ward for mental people. This book deals with mental health issues and has some graphic self harming scenes. It also deals with different types of addictions such as drug and alcohol. Charlie starts off mute within the book, but at this is written in first person you know what she's thinking and feeling. After the first couple of chapters Charlie begins to find her voice. She gets discharged and is back in the real world and so the story begins.

I loved how you got to not only see parts of Charlie's present but learn her past throughout the novel by her having mini flashbacks etc. You get so involved with the characters you are learning about yet you've never even met them. All the characters within this book were so unique and different from each other with was great. I thought the story flowed well and each character was there for a specific reason no matter how big or small.

This book also reminded me of a mixture between The Color Purple and Girl Interrupted. It was brutal yet so captivating I just couldn't get enough. I even read this in the car on the way to work for an hour which is a big thing for me considering I get car sick when I'm in the back of a car haha!

Anyway, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in mental health or in coming of age stories in general. It was definitely a winner for me. However I would not recommend if you have issues with self-harm or drug/alcohol addiction.

Hell. No. These are completely different people. Adam is a kind a quiet character whereas Rick is psychologically messed up and is the villain in the book. This pairing would not be great at all.

Joe + Lily

Lily has been through enough so placing her in any kind of relationship with Joe would just be mean. Joe is not a character you would want to pair up with anyone unless they was just like him.

Grace + Abby

I'd say these would actually be a match in regards to friends. I think they would have a lovely friendship considering Grace has been through a lot and Abby also has.

Peach + Juliette

I personally don't like peach and I really like Juliette. However I think these would be kind of suited. I think Juliette would put Peach right in her place.

Tamlin + Feyre

Ship but only friends maybe. I read the book so long ago I can't remember their relationship but I kind of prefer these to just be friends.

Favourite "unlikeable" protagonists
'People always tear down unlikeable protagonists. But tell us the ones you pulled for!'

I haven't done a Top 5 Wednesday post in forever but decided I wanted to get back into it and put more effort into my blog by posting more as well as personalising each post to look more effective.

Starting back off with this particular Topic actually threw me a little. I couldn't think of any characters that were the protagonists that I felt were unlikable. I ended up deciding to pick not on protagonists but also main main characters as I felt it were a little too difficult for me to pick all protagonists. Even so I still only ended up picking 4 charters!!

Number 1

Ben from Shortcomings by Adrian Tomine

I read this book recently and actually really enjoyed it. It was Tomine's best work but it still kept me engaged. I actually didn't realise how much of a dislikable character Ben was until I started reading reviews on goodreads after I finished the book. I understood why people disliked the character and begin to wonder why I didn't.

Ben falls under the categories of selfish, depressing, a liar, offensive as well as many other things. However he is not boring. It's a more realistic view on how people are compared to how people expect charcters to be which is possibly why I liked him so much.

Number 2

Joe from You by Caroline Kepnes

Joe is someone you should hate in both the real world and the imaginary world. He is an extremely psychotic person who not only stalks our other main character within this book but also has a lot of other dark secrets that he carries with him. You just shouldn't like him.

But you do.

Joe is like going on your first ever roller coaster. Fun, Exciting and keeps you on the edge. Climbing inside Joe's head is fascinating yet spooky all at once. You get to hear his thoughts and feelings along with what he does and how/why he does it. If you ever heard about a man like Joe on the news or in school you would take an instant dislike to them. But within this book you just can't get enough.

Number 3

Alaska from Looking for Alaska by John Green

Although, I understand Alaska is not actually our protagonist in this book she basically the main plot line of this story so I guess that counts for something.

I actually struggled to get through this book. I enjoyed it but it was slow paced compared to John Green's other books. There are a lot of people who I know, strated this book but never actually complted it due to it's slow paced plot and also one of our main characters... Alaska.

Alaska is in all honesty a bitch. She is a character who is has a lot of anger and is pretty depressing. She is also a very ruthless individual and doesn't seem to care for anyone besides herself. But i don't know why I kind of liked her. I could not even begin to explain why I just did. Not saying I agree with her actions but I definitely liked the mysteriousness about her.

Number 4

Light from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata

Light Yagami. What a character. He's super intelligent and not bad on the eye, what's not to love right?

If you have not read Death Note then I highly suggest you get on book depository right now or amazon or whatever you preferred method of book buying is and get the whole set. You will NOT regret it.

So as I was saying, if you haven't read deathnote I won't spoil it for you but lets just say Light is not only trying to be a good guy but he's also the bad guy. I guess in theory I understand why he does what he does but in reality, he's still the 'villian' so to speak. But I still love his character a lot.

This book is the last book in the Anna and the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins. That first book I absolutely loved however from there on I feel it was the same thing over and over. Don't get me wrong the characters were completely different which was something I loved and I really like Isla and Josh in this book. They both seemed like people I would like in the real world but it seemed too much of the same story as the last two. I guess I was just expecting more.

Nevertheless, Perkins has done a great job at character building within this book. I loved how Josh was extremely distanced from his family and how he acts differently around his family friends compared to his boarding school friends. I also loved the aspect in this book where all characters from each book in the series were reintroduced. It was weird don't get me wrong but I still thought it was pretty great how they all connected to each other.

I would say this book is a light, fluffy read that you could pick up and fly through if you was in the mood to read it. It's cute, charming and funny in some places which makes reading this book that much better.

Unfortunately it did take me a while to get into this book but when I got about halfway through I just kept reading and reading and reading... Maybe my opinion is a little biased as I wasn't in the mood to actually read this type of book when I picked it up but I still enjoyed it.

Me and my boyfriend have recently been going to the cinema a lot lately which is big for me considering I hate the cinema. We most recently went to watch, Baywatch, The Mummy and The Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales. Baywatch = Rubbish. The Mummy = Pretty decent. Pirates of the Caribbean = Didn't live up to my expectations. At the start of this week I spend a lot of my time and effort planning different posts for my blog in order to get back into it again. It's safe to say I've missed this so much.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Today I have work. Been working 12 hour shifts so haven't had a lot of time for my reading. In Westonbirt there has been a concert from Thursday until Today (which is where I', working). Thursday was Elbow, Friday was Olly Murs who was not too bad actually, Yesterday was Rick Astley which I really freaking enjoyed and today will be Craig David. It been a hard couple of days but the weathers been nice and considering I'm outside, I'm not complaining.

This short book is actually a collection of different poems which are incredibly vivid. Now before anyone judges me of my harsh rating hear me out...

I understand that these collection of poems are no doubt, beautifully crafted. There is also no doubt that this book makes you feel crazy amount of emotions. However it made me feel uncomfortable!! Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that it's supposed to make you feel almost uncomfortable and with that it shows great skill in writing, but I just didn't enjoy it.

These poems failed to leave anything with me other than the un-comfortableness of what I was reading. I'm not one to become uncomfortable when reading any type of book and this is actually the first time it's happened. Regardless of my harshness of this I would still recommended it to anyone who is even remotely interested in this simply because I would love to know if there are others who think the same as me.

Just like the other two books in this series/collection of short stories I really enjoyed this one. However this book is based on one particular character, Ben.

So Ben is a character most people would dislike. I am definitely one of those people. However disliking the book due to that is something I frown upon. I have read a lot of negative comments about this short graphic novel that lead to the obvious outcome of that they just didn't like the main character. I get that you should like the main character due to them being the MAIN part of the story, of course. However this was still a beautifully written story with amazing art work, therefore that one significant problem of not liking the character becomes not so significant anymore.

However it's not something you can completely overlook. Of course it does become annoying how dishonest and selfish and up his own arse Ben actually is. There are also times where this book kind of got a little boring.

Although, I have never read anything like this before therefore it made it unique to me which I particularly enjoyed.

I have looked through all my books so many times and can never decide what I want to read next. My TBR shelf feels like it's never ending, but I love it!! 😊

I have recently decided to put my top books I want to read, on my nightstand so I can easily have access to them and so they are in plain sight out the way of my other books. This has actually helped me stay motivated to read as I am constantly wanting to change the books and also it's helped me keep on track of what I want to read next therefore helping me read my current book faster.

I have chosen 4 books from that list that is currently on my bedside table and placed them into my June TBR. So without further ado...

This is definitely a very late monthly wrap-up but I still wanted to do it so I could get back into my blogging again.

I have recently been really into reading, However I still didn't realise I read as much as I did in the month of May. Not complaining by any means. A lot of these books I'm about to share with you are mainly graphic novels or very short books.

I have some reviews up already on my blog which you can easily find on my 'Book Reviews' page. I can't say I loved many of these books which I'm super disappointed with but nonetheless I'm going to share them with you anyway.

I was delightfully surprised by this book as I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. This very short book talks about the authors experiences , thoughts and feelings of gender and feminism.

I read the first half of this book whilst in the bath and then the other half as soon as I got out and into bed. It was so short yet so powerful. I've never thought as myself as a feminist as such but reading this made me realise how important gender equality is and how in different places around the world woman and men are treated a lot different to what I expected.

To say the least, this book really opened my eyes and I can't wait to read more books like this. Incredible!!

Summer Blonde by Adrian Tomine : Book Review

This book is a collection of short stories told in the form of a graphic novel. I had a look on goodreads after I finish the book and to my surprise found quite a few negative reviews. Personally I thought this book was pretty great. Not as good as the first but still decent.

Within these stories you got to hear a lot more about the people as their stories were a lot longer than that of his first book. I really enjoyed the different characters within this book and actually can't wait to get into the next book. Each story is different yet can be in some way relatable to different people which I think is an excellent quality to these stories

The artwork in this is great too. So simple yet again but it's capturing.

Sleepwalk by Adrian Tomine : Book Review

This graphic novel is a collection of short stories and I honestly loved it. Each story was different and gave me a different feeling/emotion. They were all sort of depressing which I actually really liked. I couldn't stop turning the pages with this one, and at the end of each story it made me kind of sad that it was over and I didn't know what was going to happen next but also made me super excited to get into the new story.

I also really love the artwork within this book. It was simple yet capturing and I loved that. Each individual also looked really similar which I found kind of cool. Not sure anyone would agree with me but still haha.

The author really knows how to capture a reader within such a short amount of time which I think is absolutely incredible and such a rare technique to find within a book. Cannot fault this book.

Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 starts is because I wanted more from it but I guess that's also a positive!!!

This book follows Hermione who is the captain of a cheerleading team in Palermo Heights. Every year Hermione attends camp and this year is her last year. But when everything turns black she ends up living a nightmare she feels isn't her own.

This book wasn't that great for me. I think the idea was great but it didn't pull through in this particular book. I didn't feel like I was connected to any of the characters as such and personally there was a little too much about cheerleading within this book rather than what actually happened to our main character. Hermione was sexually assaulted which is what this book is supposed to be about (this happens really early on in the book so this isn't a spoiler), however I think the book was more driven by the knowledge of cheerleading than the event that took place.

There were a few things I enjoyed such as the way Hermione dealt with it. She had an interesting view on relating the assault with herself which really made me think. I'm not sure how realistic this would be but I think it makes sense.

I wouldn't recommend this book if you can't deal with reading about sexual assault. It's not particularly graphic but it's obviously meant to be the main premise of the story.

I really wanted to love this book but unfortunately it just didn't click with me which is a shame as I have been waiting to get my hands on it for months.

Cry. I'm quite an emotional person as it is so I love when a book touches me enough to cry. I don't often laugh at books and if I do it's only a little giggle but crying at a book I feel means a lot more.

Black Or White Covers?
Black. I love both black and white covers because they look so clean and simple but I think black looks that little bit more neater and more appealing. Here are some of my favourites.
