International update :) Kiev, Ukraine

hello everyone :) Yet again, I am on vacation with my wonderful fiance - this time we are in Kiev, Ukraine. Kiev is beautiful and we have been having an amazing time here. I left NYC on November 1st and I wont be arriving home until the 14th. Today we are going to do some shopping! I am dyingggg to buy a new fur coat and a fur ushanka ("russian hat" lol) and of course I need to buy little gifts for my friends & family back home. Also, I love the weather here. Its always sunny with a beautiful blue sky and cold. I love the cold weather because you can always dress nice and warm & i adore my boots & fur :) All in all - Kiev, Ukraine is a gorgeous city and I know that this is not the last time that I will be here.

On another note, I feel sort of silly updating my blog. Especially being that I haven't written in here since my last vacation in August and the time before that was when my dad passed away. It really makes me sad to think how distant I have been from something that I love so much, but my life right now (and for the past months) did not allow me any time to indulge in the blogging/youtube world :( I have been so busy with my full time job (actually, its not just a "job", I have an actual career going for me), college, traveling to Russia/Ukraine very often, and on top of that I have to be there for my family - things have changed a lot since my daddy has passed away. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make here is that even with being so busy and having such a full life, I still miss blogging and youtube. It is always in the back of my mind and I feel so sad for having to take such a long hiatus - but I guess that is what I needed to get my life in order. Most importantly, what I wanted to tell you all is that I am coming back :) Once I get back to America I will start getting back again into blogging & youtube and I'm sure everything will be good, or as we say in Russian "все будет хорошо" ♥

Hi everyone :)

I wanted to make a video before I left America, but I have been so busy with my new job lately & packing & preparing for my trip that I didnt have anytime to make you guys a video letting you all know whats been up lately & what I'm doing. Anywayyyyy - right now I am writing this from Odessa, Ukraine - I am here on vacation with my fiance (yes, I am engaged - for the few of you that do not already know this!). We are in Moscow, Russia and Odessa, Ukraine. I've been out of America since August 3rd and I am going to be coming back to NYC on August 18th :( wahhh I hate coming back to America - I really am convinced that I could just stay here forever with my fiance. its beautiful.

So, just wanted to give that little update & hopefully when I arrive back in NYC I can get back into the YouTube & blogging scene. Until then, I will be enjoying Moscow & Odessa with my amazing fiance!! Speak to you all soon :)

Nicholas K. - NYFW f/w 2011

ahhhhhh, the Nicholas K. show.
Unfortunately this show featured the first two model falls of fashion week, but trust me, after seeing the wonderful collection I almost forgot about the model spills. (note: I said "almost".)

The Nicholas K. fall/winter 2011 ready to wear collection was an interesting casual mix of grunge & luxurious boho (bohemian). I loved all the fur, the colorful plaid, the leather boots & jackets and the chunky, oversized knit sweaters. I could easily see myself wearing a few of the Nicholas K. pieces from her ready to wear collection.

Here are three of my favorite looks from the Nicholas K. RTW (ready to wear, for those fashion week newbies out there.) collection fall/winter 2011.

I am #INLOVE with this chunky oversized knit sweater, i adore the oatmeal color & i love how it looks with the gray pants and the brown distressed-leather boots. (oh, btw - thats the model who took the first spill and those boots were the culprit.)

I love this jacket, especially the unique shade of the fur, and how well it matches with the aviator sunglasses. If it were me, I would pair the jacket & the shades with jet black denim & knee high black boots.

Okay, enough with the fashion - on to beauty. #NAILS

For Nicholas K's downtown chic RTW collection, Pattie Yankee created two custom Dashing Diva colors, a deep hunter green and a brown with gold flecks. In addition, Dashing Diva's "Remember My Name" and "Limo Service" were also worn by the models.

I'm a huge fan of dark nail polish & after this show I am going to need to pick myself up a bottle of Dashing Diva's "Remember My Name" - i love it. All in all, the Nicholas K. show was a success (if you don't count the falling models..) and I really enjoyed her RTW fall/winter collection.

The Red Dress Fashion Show - NYFW f/w 2011

It's that time of the year again. FASHION WEEK.

& me, of course I am going to be at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011. #fact

The Red Dress Fashion Show at the theater at Lincoln Center on Wednesday February 9th kicked off Fall/Winter 2011 New York Fashion Week! The Red Dress fashion show is also known as the Heart Truth fashion show. This glamorous show brought a parade of celebrities, all in gorgeous red designer dresses, to the ruby-red runway in order to raise awareness for heart disease. Since red is one of my favorite colors, seeing all the lovely red dresses (all supporting a wonderful cause) was exactly where I wanted to be!

And, of course, I believe your nails are one of your most important accessories, so its obvious that I believe that the nails complete the outfit! This vital rule is also followed at New York Fashion Week! Backstage with Pattie Yankee for Dashing Diva nails I saw all the gorgeous polishes that the celebrities were sporting on the runway that evening.

I have been incredibly busy lately (full time college student with a full time job!!) & I remembered that I had this entry as a draft & never published it, so I finished it and here it is!! Better late then never! ENJOY :)

As you all know, I have recently fallen deeply in love with Urban Decay...

On Saturday, August 28th 2010, I attended the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows III launch party & exclusive pre-sale at Sephora in Times Square. The perfect location to debut the UD♥NYC palette!

At my Sephora (haha - yes, I call it "my" Sephora, because that's the one that I go to the most.) they were having a very special one day only sale of the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows III palette - Urban Decay Loves New York!!

When I got there, the line was huge & went all the way to the end of the block!!

Thankfully, I was able to waltz right in & I didnt have to wait on the line, being that I had a very special interview set up. I had an interview with one of my idols, Urban Decay's head international makeup artist, Eric Jimenez. I was so happy to be meeting Eric and I was absolutely honored to be able to interview him & speak to him one on one about Urban Decay and their fabulous products. After my interview with Eric (click HERE to read it!!) I bought myself a beautiful Book of Shadows III - UD♥NYC - I was thrilled! I got my first Urban Decay palette and I was so happy that it was celebrating my amazing city - NYC - how perfect?!! (I use this palette almost everyday now - it is incredible!!!)

Then, to make a long story (very) short - before I knew it, I was in the UD♥NYC tee shirt doing makeup in Sephora alongside the fabulous Urban Decay National Artistry Team!! IT WAS AMAZING!! I was absolutely honored & I had such a blast!

I did makeup on a bunch of Sephora shoppers who were there for the Urban Decay event. I gave them each a special look using the new Book of Shadows III, and I must say, they all left the chair looking fabulous!! I am in loveeeee with the new UD♥NYC palette and using it made me fall in love with the brand and develop a hardcore Urban Decay addiction ;)

This is me & a very special woman that I met at the event! This wonderful doll's name is Cadie & she was one of the makeup artists in Urban Decays National Artistry Team. She was so kind & welcoming to me and we had so much fun doing makeup together!
As we would do makeup we would always start dancing and we loved the music that the DJ was playing! "oh my God! I love this song!" was said about a million times lol Anyway - Cadie was a real sweetheart, as were all the other fabulous Urban Decay makeup artists!! I wish I had a picture with each & every one of them!!

This event was incredible and I had such an amazing time talking & getting to know Eric (read the interview HERE!) as well as hanging out and doing makeup with the marvelous & extremely talented Urban Decay National Artistry Team!!

When I went to the Urban Decay Book of Shadows III event I was lucky enough to meet one of my idols - Eric Jimenez! Eric Jimenez is the head international makeup artist for Urban Decay. Besides having one of the best jobs in the world, Eric is also one of the most kind people that I have ever met. He really has a true passion for makeup and he really cares about making everyone feel & look beautiful!!

Three fun facts that I learned while speaking to Eric:
• He started selling Avon door to door at a very young age with his mother.
• He owned his own cowboy hat company!! (pre-UD days!)
• He began working with Benefit and then started working with Urban Decay 5 years ago.

Of course, I had to ask Eric what are the top 5 Urban Decay products that he would recommend for every makeup lover! These are the top 5 products that made the cut!

Spooky Spiderweb Nails!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!! =)

Since today is Halloween I knew I needed to wear a pair of my limited edition Halloween nails by Kiss Nails!! I already wore "Hayride" this past week, so today I put on "Pumpkin" to celebrate Halloween in style! These nails are PERFECT for Halloween :)

These artificial nails have a spooky twist on a "French manicure". It's a spiderweb pattern with a black tip with a line of silver glitter separating the web from the black tip. There is also a silver glittery spider as a finishing touch, so cute & perfect for Halloween!

I absolutely loveeee the style/pattern of these nails and I am so excited to be wearing them, but I just couldn't deal with the extra-long length! (texting was near impossible!!) So, I grabbed my nail clipper & nail file and cut them down to a much more practical, shorter length!

Still as spooky & festive, just more manageable!! =)
I really love these nails & I hope that Kiss Nails comes out with some limited edition nails for the holiday season!! how cute would little Hanukkah & Christmas nails be?!! hahaha :)

Vamp Up Your Halloween with Kiss Nails!!

As you all know, Kiss Nails are my favorite brand of artificial nails and I wear them very often! So, being that it is Halloween time, they have created four styles of limited edition Halloween nails that are sure to add the perfect finishing touch to your Halloween look!

The four styles of the nails are (from left to right) - Witch, Ghost, Pumpkin, and Hayride.

In addition to the four styles of the artificial nails, Kiss also created four styles of limited edition Halloween nail art, body art and eye & face art!! Below are the photos of the two different styles of nail art, one of more "sweet" with cute skulls, black cats and colorful bats & stars, while the second one has a more of a "spooky" feel to it! Spiderwebs, bats, black skulls, and spiders!

Then there is the body art and the eye & face art!! I loveee these two sets!

(as you can tell, I've already used one of the body art stickers, it was a really pretty red rose!)

The eye & face art is SO pretty! I am planning to use it to add some bling to my eye makeup :)

On Wednesday I started to get into the Halloween spirit and I put on the artificial nails in "Hayride" - They looked awesome! I LOVE the black-red fade look that the nails have and the black design on it is subtle but still so pretty! I would wear this nail style all throughout the year - not just Halloween!! It looked so pretty!

I love them & I got so many compliments on them! They really look like they were airbrushed at the nail salon :) I'm kind of upset that they are only Halloween limited edition & that they wont be around long, I need to stock up on this style!!

This past week I tried out a new e.l.f. nail polish & i loved it so much! I kept getting so many questions from fellow polish-addicts about what color/brand I was wearing!! I was wearing e.l.f.'s new shade "Metal Madness", A gorgeous gun-metal gray color with silver sparkles!

Such a perfect color for the fall, I really love it!

New York Fashion Week 2010 - Nicholas K.

Hi everyone :) As you all know, I was at New York Fashion Week! It was amazing! I wanted to make sure that I share with you all of the fabulous nail polish looks & trends that were on the runway! Here are the lovely polishes from the Nicholas K. show! Enjoy :)

On Septemeber 9th, Celebrity nail technician Pattie Yankee and the Dashing Diva nail team worked backstage on models for the Nicholas K. show at Lincoln Center.

Polishes: special mix, special mix, Concrete Playground, Astor Place, Tibi Couture

Nicholas K. had an army inspired collection and Dashing Diva specially mixed two custom color polishes for the show. The mixing resulted in a khaki brown color and mint green color.
Along with the special mixes Nicholas went three other Dashing Diva polishes.

Concrete Playground, a heather gray polish.

Astor Place, a grey/brown mix.

Tibi Couture, a light creamy beige.

With Nicholas’ army inspired collection, the polishes looked absolutely amazing!

New York Fashion Week Nail Trends with Dashing Diva!

This Tuesday, September 7th kicked off New York Fashion Week!
I was there in Lincoln Center to enjoy this great evening that brought together designers, models and fashionistias from all around the world.

As we all know, Fashion Week not only focuses on just fashion, but on beauty as well! (I always say you cannot have fashion without beauty & you cannot have beauty without fashion!) So, naturally, I was excited to see all the beauty trends that NYFW kicked off with!

Dashing Diva Nails lead the way that night and its fabulous nail polishes took the runway by storm!

At the shows, 'pure at heart' and 'fifties flair' inspired models wore the popular "Fashion Week" polish, a sheer pink Dashing Diva runway favorite!

UD Lip Junkie Lip Gloss Swatches & Review!

If you have read my previous blog entry, you are all fully aware that I have recently fallen deeply in love with Urban Decay. And I have fallen HARD ♥

I was dying to test out their lip glosses and I heard that their lip junkie glosses were really great, so I just haddddddd to try them out as soon as I could!

So i present to you these gorgeous swatches of the Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Glosses!

They look so pretty in the tubes & the color you see is the color you get!

Top row left to right: Peroxide (light pink) Midnight Cowboy (sheer nude sparkle)

Crush (bright hot pink) Runaway (medium peach shimmer)

Bottom row left to right: Heavy (dark neutral) Naked (pinky neutral)

Jilted (deep pink sparkle) Perversion (sheer black sparkle)

PROS OF THIS PRODUCT =)

• True to color! The color that you see in the tube is that color that appears on your lips.

• Not sticky at all! I hateee sticky lipglosses and this is not one of them! It was super smooth & not gooey.

• Super shiny. I am more of a lipstick type of girl, but when I wear lipgloss I like it to be obvious that I am wearing a lipgloss - shiny & glossy lips! & its such a huge plus that its not sticky!

• Really good range of color & shades. There are 11 gorgeous shades so you know you can find one you like! Take your pick from sheer pretty neutrals, kick-ass brights, or a glimmering near-black The 3 of them I couldn't show you were Red-Light (bright pinky red), Wallflower (nude creamy-pink), and Love Junkie (sheer dark red).

• I love the minty scent & flavor! Its refreshing, smells good, feels good on the lips and most importantly its not too strong & it doesn't taste bad.

• Lasts a pretty long time for a lipgloss. Most lipglosses that I have tried always come off so easily, but this one lasted pretty well & the color stayed.

• The lipgloss tube is "molded" not all soft. This is a pro for me because now there cant be any lipgloss "accidents" where my lipgloss explodes all over my bag because the tube was squished. Thank God!! LOL

• Pretty packaging! Yes, as you all know I loveee trendy packaging & this product, like every other Urban Decay product has packaging that looks so nice!

CONS OF THIS PRODUCT =(

• I didn't notice any plumping effect to my lips. This product is advertised to have an ingredient called "Maxi-Lip" that is said to give your lips a boost & have some plumping action. Unfortunately, I did not really notice any when I used this product. But it also says "plumps lips an average of 40% when used daily for a month." So I guess I will use it more and more & see if I notice a gradual change in the plumpness of my lips.

• May be considered a little "overpriced" by some. Some of my fellow makeup lovers may think that the $19 price tag is a little too pricey for a lipgloss. Personally, it is an average price for lipgloss amongst the higher-end brands, but a some people might still think its overpriced.

OVERALL VIEW ON THIS PRODUCT:

I really liked these Urban Decay lipglosses!! There were many pros about this product and it really lived up to my expectations, except on the plumping part. I think that with the wide range of shades, the smooth & shiny finish, the refreshing minty flavor and the non-stickiness, it equals a pretty fabulous lipgloss! My three favorite colors are peroxide, crush and runaway! I also like mixing peroxide & crush together, soo pretty!

My New Love: The Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder!

Whenever I would go into Sephora I would always find myself standing in front of the Urban Decay display and admiring all their fabulous makeup. I don't know if it was their trendy purple packaging or their unique & provocative color names (bordello, anyone?!) but I was always so attracted to the brand. (yes! you can be attracted to a brand - only real makeup lovers/addicts know that!) Finally I was reaching my breaking point and I knew that I needed to get my hands on some Urban Decay products. And FAST!

So, the following Urban Decay products was one of the first that I have ever tried and it is now one of my ultimate favorite products that I use every, single day. If it is possible to be actually addicted to a makeup product, then this is the product that I am a total junkie for!
The Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder!

I always wondered if it was worth it to invest in a more expensive product (especially one that I use everyday and all through out the day!) from a more high-end brand, rather then to keep using the e.l.f.'s studio translucent matifying powder for only $3. Don't get me wrong - the e.l.f. one worked fine, but I was curious to see if there was really a difference.

After looking around Sephora, I came across this pretty-purple compact. It was love at first sight!

I was instantly in love with the packaging (I am such a sucker for pretty packaging!) and when I went on further to read the description of this product I knew that I needed to try it!

"This shine-stopping pressed powder blots oil and keeps shine at bay. Try it on naked skin (if you run into the hot guy at the gym), or over foundation (for touch-ups on the dance floor without destroying your makeup). Because the formula contains super lightweight, oil-absorbing rice powder, you won’t feel the powder, but you’ll see the shine-free results. The lavender shade applies invisibly and works on every skin tone, from dark chocolate to palest porcelain."

Keep De-Slick in your bag at all times! The gorgeous, transparent purple compact seems to glow from within, featuring Urban Decay embellishments of skulls, flourishes and flowers. Pop it open to reveal a mirror and handy application puff.

PROS OF THIS PRODUCT =)
• Really does keep my skin shine free for a longgg time. (longer then any other blot/matifying powder that I have tried!!) I applied this on top of my liquid foundation to set it at 7:30am before I went off to college in the morning, and my skin stayed shine-free until about 12:00pm when I went to go eat lunch.
• If you do get shiny, a little bit of the powder instantly absorbs the oil and returns your skin to a perfect matte finish. When I noticed that I needed a little touch up, all I needed to do was pat a little powder in the shiny spots & like magic they disapeared and my skin was back to looking perfectly matte.
• Large compact, a lot of product. Its not tiny by any means and you only use a little product at a time, so it will last for a while. (The compact is about the size of my palm.)
• Does not disturb your makeup at all. Putting this on top of your makeup throughout the day does not change the color of your makeup at all.
• Doesn't make your makeup look cakey, no matter if you reapply multiple times during the day. I wore this on a 95degree day in NYC where I was walking a lottttt for about 2 or 3 hours outside. I reapplied about once an hour, yet my makeup didn't start to look cakey at all.
• Comes with a little application puff. There's no need to bring along any other brushes or separate application puffs. Plus, this one is so adorable!
• Pretty packaging! Do I really need to explain this one?! The purple compact is so hot and i love the Urban Decay embellishments of skulls, flourishes and flowers.

CONS OF THIS PRODUCT =(
• The $30 price tag. I'm not really a huge fan of spending $30 for a powder and I know that it may be too expensive for some makeup lovers out there. Even though I am listing the price as a con, I am still going to be buying this product - it works for my skin so wonderfully that it is totally worth the $30!!

OVERALL VIEW ON THIS PRODUCT:
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE URBAN DECAY DE-SLICK MATTIFYING POWDER!!!
It has everything I want in a mattifying powder and it even comes in one of the most trendy compacts that I have ever seen! It is my new "holy-grail" translucent mattifying powder and despite the $30 price tag I will most definitely be purchasing this product again! (and again & again & again!!!)

I have officially fallen in love with Urban Decay products. Stay tuned for more Urban Decay reviews & hauls - I can assure you that there will be many more!! ;)

My nails for this week are so hot! They are inspired by Harajuku fashion & trends. They are bright and totally fun! These are perfect nails to wear to end the summer with!

The nails that I wore last week received a ton of compliments and they were perfect for me - pretty & pink! I absolutely loved them! I adore hot pink - especially on nails - so these nails are definitely one of my favorite sets.

Tutorial : My Everyday Look!

Glamorous Golds & Pinks!

1. Starting with a clean face, first apply e.l.f. studio pressed powder in the shade that best suits your skin tone. (I use caramel) Then, apply the e.l.f studio translucent matifying powder to your whole face to make sure that your face stays shine-free all day!

2. Take your e.l.f. studio complexion brush and pat it into the healthy glow bronzing powder in "Matte Bronze". Tap off any excess bronzer from the brush and very lightly dust it all over your face. Now you are ready for blush! Again, using the studio complexion brush, lightly sweep some of the natural radiance blusher in "Flushed" on the apples of your cheeks up your cheek bone.

3. Now its on to the eyes! If you like, fill in your eyebrows how you normally would. Next, with your studio eyeshadow "c" brush, apply the mineral eye shadow in "Celebrity" to your whole eyelid. Make sure to press the eyeshadow onto your lid - not swipe it on - swiping causes shadow fall-out, pressing lets you neatly apply the shadow to the lid!! After you have applied "Celebrity" to both lids, apply "Caffenated" to the outer corners of your eye. Blend both colors together for a seamless wash of gorgeous golden color!

4. Next, dip your small angled brush into the studio cream eyeliner in black. Glide the cream eyeliner along your upper lash line in a thin line. Try to get it as close to your lash line as you can & as straight as possible. Now extend the line out past the corner of your eye to create a tiny wing. This opens up your eyes and looks very exotic! Now take your favorite mascara and apply 2 - 3 coats to your lashes to achieve thick, long lashes. If you don't have naturally long lashes, you can also add false lashes if you wish!

5. Finally it is time to perfect your pout! Take the e.l.f. studio lip stain in "First Date" and carefully apply this beautiful pink lip stain to your lips. If you want a glossy look, next apply the clear gloss. If you prefer a matte lip like me, then skip the clear gloss!

How pH Levels Effect Your Beauty!

I can safely assume that we have all heard the following saying at least once before in our lives. "You are what you eat." And yes, it is true. Well, you may not actually BE that cheese burger or that Caesar salad, but your skin and how you feel is definitely affected by what you eat and drink!

I’ve heard this information a many times in countless magazines but I was never told why this happens. Finally, I found out why from one of the worlds leading Dermatologists - Dr. Jeannette Graf. M.D. The reason why what you eat & drink effects how you look is because what you eat & drink effect your bodies pH level, and your pH level affects how your skin looks and how well your body works!

On August 4th I attended an exclusive event in Manhattan in honor of Dr. Jeannette Graf (read about the fabulous event by clicking HERE!!) where she supplied us with a wealth of knowledge concerning skincare and beauty. The biggest point that Dr. Graf made was that in order to have beautiful looking skin on the outside, your insides must be healthy as well. (Like my mother always told me “True beauty starts from within!“ I guess its true in more ways then one! lol) The pH level of our bodies correlates with the way our skin looks and how we feel, as well as how healthy we are in general.

An easy way to test your pH level is to buy pH testing strips. (EMD colorpHast pH Test Strips, Full pH Range 0 to 14) The more alkaline (the opposite of acidic) we are, the better our skin looks, the better our body functions and the better we feel! The perfect pH level would be in the about 7.5 - so make that your goal!

So, I tested out my own pH level (you just put the little tester strip on your tongue for a few seconds and it tests the pH level from your saliva) My pH level was a perfect 7.5 - I was very happy!

To reach a good pH level, its all in what you eat and drink! Here are some tips to make sure you are eating and drinking properly while pursuing a perfect pH level!

• Drink enough water! If you feel like you are having trouble drinking enough water throughout the day, trying drinking it at room temperature. Also adding a lemon or lime into the water increases your bodies alkalinity.
• Eat foods that are high in antioxidants such as blueberries, red kidney beans, cranberries, artichokes, blackberries, prunes, raspberries, strawberries, apples, black beans and pecans.
• Always try to make sure that your diet is colorful!! Like Dr. Graf said “If your food is always beige - that’s a problem!” Colorful food are the ones with vitamins and antioxidants!
• Always try to get in your servings of fruits and vegetables. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are especially good for you.
• Try to avoid alcohol as much as you can. Not only is this bad for your pH levels, but horrible for your entire body! So try to either cut out or cut down on the drinking!
• If you want, take a mineral supplement daily. Minerals neutralize acids, meaning if your body is acidic (low pH level) then the minerals will neutralize them and your pH level will become more alkaline and raise.
• In addition to mineral supplements, you could also take probiotics or vitamin D3 (2,000-4,000 units are recommended) so help raise your pH level.

So if you want clearer, more glowing skin, then stop looking for that miracle skin serum and start working on your pH levels!
