The folks over that the Independent Games Festival compiled 300 free indie games that couldn't make into the regular competition they hold every year. There are a variety of reasons these games couldn't be entered from quality of the game to the price tag just for entering.

ARCADE STYLE
/escape\ - Stylish art and polished controls. It's a platforming side-jumping game you've seen before, but now it's free!
Graveyard Graveyard Revolution - We've all had enough of the dancing games... right? No! One more, and this time it's themed to Irish music in a graveyard setting!
*Alfredo - Classic platformer with tough boss battles! You are Alfredo the chef and you must reclaim your prestige by defeating the Fettuccine Castle. Challenging and entertaining!
Attack of the Heavenly Bats - In any game where your hero must obtain powers, haven't you ever wanted to use all your powers at once? Re-discover your powers and use them all with one button to defeat the bats invade heaven! Lots of fun!
Areatron - Remember Robotron? It's like that without any weapons! Avoid the robots and more and escape when the timer is up!
Blackheist - It's a 1 screen shooting-defense game. Use your robot to shoot lasers at enemy robots bombarding you from the left, right, and above! Fun for a quick challenge.

GAMES WITH A HEAVY/GRAPHIC MESSAGE
*Hero's Adventure - In every RPG we kill plenty of lowly animals. This 2-minute RPG is no different!
A Closed Mind - This appears to be a beta version of the game with the same name which can be found here: http://www.auntiepixelante.com/?p=1276. It is a game where the main character is gay and battles everyone around them for acceptance using logic, compassion, and ethics!
*Calories - Make life choices to curb your calorie intake. Why? Because you are trying to take control of the only thing in your nightmarish life you think you can.

PUZZLE
*Inside Job - You're a burglar with the power to read minds and control your adversaries. Great top down blocky graphics and fun gameplay mechanics.
Braindead - Crazy funky graphics and a unique puzzle mechanic where you must guide a man using environmental triggers ala Lemmings. The puzzle timing doesn't seem quite polished so a few levels are definitively a little frustrating.
Where Am I? - A room navigating game where you can only see the room by bumping into the walls!
10.5 - A room navigating game where you collect coins to use powerups. Escape each randomly generated room to find your lost brother, Half, 3 times!
Soze - Can you find Soze, the bomber, before time runs out? It's quick, and it's hard! Using a top-down style, interrogate suspects and compare facts until you determine who to arrest before the bomb blows!
Operation Lodestone - Shoot missiles that are propelled forward by magnets that you place on the battlefield! Move magnet towers to curve the trajectory of the missile and hit the cities!
Grave Robbers - Protect your treasure by unleashing traps on the robbers! Each trap is bound to a key on the keyboard, so use them wisely as the robbers pass by.

SIMS
*Super Cult Tycoon 2: Deluxe Edition - You are a cult leader. Build and expand your compound, feed your alcoytes kool-aid, and fend off the FBI! Great graphics and fun gameplay. Lasts about an hour or less. It can start off slow, so give it a chance!

*-this means there's a surprise ending! I don't spoil it.

Daniel Chou of Chou! LLC came up with his business idea in a college cafeteria. He was eating an egg roll when another student joked and said it would be great to have a shirt with an egg roll graphic that said, "That's how I roll."

Chou was an undergraduate student then, but the concept of making products that people found expressive and funny stayed with him as he went on to get a master's degree. He thought he'd get a stable job and start the business on the side, but the passion was too strong.

"What is an entrepreneur?" Chou asked. "I would say it's a combination of wanting to explore and create, and be in charge of my future at the same time.

Starting with the sale of T-shirts with catchy phrases and unique designs, Chou is learning and growing in his use of ecommerce. He sees no need for a bricks-and-mortar location and instead has set up shop at the Business and Manufacturing Center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

"I selected the location because it's affordable, the location is great, and I have access to counselors that can help when I have a question," Chou explained.

A graduate of E-Hub, Chou appreciates learning from other entrepreneurs. His role as a sole owner requires that he be a web designer, search engine optimizer, production manager, shipper, traveling salesman, printing technician and bookkeeper. Chou seems to have mastered all of the jobs.

His website is easy to navigate and fun to search. Humor is injected into the product line that now includes almost 100 offerings.

Chou noted, "We'll print for businesses, individuals or groups, but we also have our own line that focuses around culture and general humor. People enjoy the shirts because they speak to them and who they are."

These customers also make the best models for his ads, and Chou, who says you can't underestimate the value of a free T-shirt, offers that as an incentive. He has found that the photos have the greatest response online, where he has about a mega second to capture the attention of a potential buyer.

His business is a case study in using technology to grow a business. Chou is on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn. He captures contacts' names by offering free membership in the "Street Team." There are contests, an email newsletter and YouTube videos. And, with thousands of competitors online, he knows how to use search engine optimization. Everything is connected in order to direct buyers to www.choustore.com, which is regularly refreshed and updated with new content.

In a highly competitive field, Chou! LLC is standing out from the competition. As Chou closely monitors pricing, production, inventory, shipping and marketing, he is seeing the business grow locally, nationally and globally. He is ready to hire his first employee.

His advice to other entrepreneurs using ecommerce is to recognize that competition is great. "Go and look what's out there," he said. "It's easy to go on Google and sell something, but you need to look closely at the other sites and do it better."
