When I understand why I failed at something, I’m much more likely to succeed the next time I try.

One of my mentors, while discussing my plans for a career change said, ‘it doesn’t matter what you decide to do, but if you fail to identify, understand, and learn the lessons that you were meant to learn in your current career, you’ll continue to experience the same failures in your new endeavor until you learn your lessons.’ Then leaning over closer she continued, ‘so make certain you’ve learned your lessons!’

The next several months were spent in evaluation of my business, what I was doing and how I could improve. What things I needed to change and how I could start my new business “career” off right, avoiding the same mistakes.

I learned really quickly that I was failing because I was not following my passion. I wasn’t doing the things that brought me joy, I was simply chasing the next paycheck. And the new “career” I was about to dive into, was an opportunity to chase yet another paycheck.

As a result, I’ve improved my business, refocusing it on my passions; and I found a way to incorporate the other business I was pursing into what I was already doing. SUCCESS!

The biggest lesson you can learn is to follow your passions, live your desires, and do what makes you happy!

This is the week when everyone starts to evaluate their past years successes and failures. The time people start to evaluate their lives and figure out what they want to be different, what they want to change in the coming year. They start talking about how the next year will be their year and how everything is going to change.

I also believe it’s the beginning of stress and frustration for many people. Many will set goals they don’t believe they can achieve. Many will expect that their lives will just change. They expect that when the calendar changes to the new year something magical will happen and they’ll transform into this new person. And then, the first couple of months in the new year are filled with frustration and stress, doubt and self destruction which leads to repeating the cycle for yet another year.

You don’t just one day decide your going to change and change. You don’t just switch from what you were to what you desire to be. It’s a process.

It starts with making the decision to change, and then, every day ,when you have opportunities to do things differently then you did before, you act on those opportunities.

As long as you make the switch in the moment that the opportunity to do so presents itself, you’ll begin to see progress towards the changes you desire.

But if you continue to handle things as you always have, you will continue to have what you’ve always had.

====

A good friend and mentor, C.S Hughes, recently provided me with a training on how to set goals and achieve them. I want to share this training with you…

8 Step Process for Setting Goals & Achieving Them (from C.S Hughes)

1. YOUR GOAL MUST BE BELIEVABLE
Napoleon Hill coined the phrase, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, he can achieve.” There are 3 parts to this. Conceiving, believing & achieving. Conceiving is easy. This is just coming up with the goal, and seeing it in your minds eye. Almost everyone can do this. The next step is believing. If you believe it, you can acheive it. If you don’t, you won’t.

Now having said that, it’s important to note that there are different levels of belief. It’s not necessary to have perfect belief, or perfect faith, in order to achieve. If you can just muster up a sliver of faith, the tiniest little smidgeon of faith, or to even give room for the possibility of faith, that is sufficient. Jim Rohn calls it, “the faith to believe.” I love that.

One of the biggest factors of the level of success we will enjoy in our life, is our belief, or our faith. A wise man once said, “According to your faith, be it unto you.” In other words, only that which we believe, we can achieve.

2. YOUR GOAL MUST BE FOCUSED & SPECIFIC
In live training events, I will often stretch both of my arms out to each side and ask the audience to focus on both of my hands at the same time. They find that the task is impossible. When you set your goals, set focused goals, not “either/or” goals. You don’t want to have a goal that states you are going to own either a Porsche or a Lexus. This will create confusion. You can have two goals to own a Porshe and a Lexus, but don’t set one goal to get “either/or.”

Additionally, your goals must be very specific. Zig Ziglar refers to people without focused and specific goals as, “wondering generalities.” That term always makes me laugh. Don’t be laughable. Be specific. Instead of having a goal to lose weight, have a goal to lose 13 pounds.

3. YOUR GOAL MUST BE WRITTEN & IN PRESENT TENSE
A goal not written is not a goal, it’s a wish. A former client of mine had always wanted to go on a cruise. I asked him if he had ever written his desire down on paper. “No,” he replied. “I don’t need to write it down. I know it’s something I want to do.” I went on to explain that the reason he was 67 years old, and had never been on a cruise, is because his desire to go on a cruise was a wish, not a goal. Had he written it down, and followed this 8 step process, he would have taken that cruise long ago, and perhaps several of them.

When you write a goal, write it in present tense by saying, “I am,” instead of “I want to,” or “I’m going to.” The words “I am” are very powerful. When we use them, the subconscious mind receives them as a command, and begins to move.

4. USE POSITIVE EMOTION PROVOKING ADJECTIVES
There are certain words that provoke positive images and emotions in our minds. Some examples would be adjectives such as “happy” and “grateful.” Instead of just stating your goal, insert one or two of these types of words. For example, “I am so happy and grateful now that I own a new, black Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum Edition.”

5. YOUR GOAL MUST BE MEASURABLE
In order for a goal to be effective, it must be measurable. For instance, a dollar amount is measurable: $100,000, or a $1,000,000. Pounds are measurable: 5 pounds, 15 pounds, 20 pounds. Square footage is measurable: 4,000 square feet, 7,000 square feet.

6. YOUR GOAL MUST HAVE A TIME ELEMENT ATTACHED
The mind works great with deadlines. One of the most powerful effects of a deadline is Cognitive Dissonance, which helps us achieve our goals. Generally, when there is a deadline to be met, 80% of what needs to happen, will happen in the last 20% of the allotted time. Without a deadline, the bulk of the magic (80%) will never happen. It’s critical that you have a time element attached to your goal.

7. YOU MUST LOOK AT & VISUALIZE YOUR GOAL EVERY DAY
By the time you and I entered first grade, we had experienced 40,000 “no” messages compared to only 5,000 “yes” messages. This created a negative subconscious in each of us, and is why most of us have a natural tendency to go negative. You can combat this negative programing by drenching your mind with positive messages, such as looking at your goal.

After you have written your goal, put it somewhere you will see it several times a day. Or take it with you whereever you go so you can look at it when you have free time (red lights, bathroom breaks, waiting in line, eating, etc.).

Take time each day to visualize your goal as though you have already accomplished it. See it, feel it, smell it, and experience it. The more vividly you can visualize your accomplished goal, the faster it will show up in your life.

The more you look at and visualize your goal, the more you magnetize your mind. The more you magnetize your mind, the more rapidly you are able to attract what you need to attract in order to reach your goal.

8. TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY AND DAILY
A good practice to adopt for goal setting, is the habit of taking immediate action. So, after you have written a new goal, take action… immediately! Just do something. And, make it a habit to do something every day which will lead you to your goal.

Every time you take an action toward your goal, you grow in faith and confidence. Conversely, when you neglect to take action, your faith is diminished, and you feel poorly about yourself. Jim Rohn taught that people don’t do well, because they don’t feel well. And the converse of this is true as well. People do well, because they feel well. So take action immediately and daily, feel well and do well.

====

The decision is up to you, the change you desire is up to you. Start doing things different then you did before!

Have a Successful New Year!

Life often throws fast balls and curve balls at us to see how we will handle them. In this economy most small business owners are faced with tough times, some have seen a significant drop in revenue, and new opportunities seem hard to come by. The prospects and resources that were once reliable have started to dry up. Referrals have started to drop off and who can afford to pursue traditional methods of advertising? At the same time unemployment is continually increasing and more and more people are becoming unsatisfied in their present situations.

These hard times often reveal two types of people.

Those that quit and give up

Those that find or create new opportunities and possibilities

First, those that quit and give up! These type of people can not see the light at the end of the tunnel, they can not see anything but the problems or stresses immediately in-front of them. Instead of asking what can I learn from this or what can I do to improve my situation and make this work in my favor, they only complain, get frustrated, and throw their goals and dreams down the drain.

Second, those that find or create new opportunities and possibilities! These type of people, thrive in the moments that threaten their goals and dreams. They look past the problems and stresses and look for those things that will make the hard times more successful. For them, it’s as though some one has dared them to succeed, even when everyone is failing and when it looks to everyone else like they are failing.

What can be done? How can we change form being a quitter to focusing more on becoming part of the creators? And if we’re already a creator, then what can we do to maintain our focus and find even more opportunities?

I’ve recently discovered 4 steps that have helped me maintain my focus and find power and motivation in this economy, even when things are times are hard.

Find A Purpose

Eliminate Excuses

Develop Incentives

Cultivate Determination (Refuse to Quite)

1. Find a Purpose

You started your business for a reason, there was something, some purpose that drove you to start your business way back in the beginning. The problem that I have found is that I forgot what those purposes were. I get so caught up in the day-to-day grind that makes my business run that I started to lose sight of the dreams and goals, my reasons for starting my business. It’s time to either revisit those purposes or create new ones!

Here are a few things to do that will help you find your purpose again:

- Surround yourself with people that have the same purpose or goals

For example, I talk to my wife about my goals and dreams, we dream together. I talk to her about the potentials and opportunities of my business and what they mean for us. She is my biggest supporter!

- Find discontent with your current situation

If you are content, or so frustrated that you can not focus on what you need to do to change things then you will find that you wont change anything. Except for the level of your stress. You need to get to a place where you ‘HATE’ your current situation and are willing to do whatever it takes to change it. I do not like the word hate, but it probably does a really good job of explaining the feelings that you need before you are really going to do anything about it.

- Identify a goal that excites you

If you are not excited or can not find anything about your business that excites you then you should consider doing something else! But if there is anything that you can find that will help you become more excited about what you do, then find a goal that will allow you to work on your excitement everyday.

For example, I love to blog! Writing blog post like this one and others, really excites me! I have a goal to write one blog post a day. It is important to the growth of my business, and it’s important to my readers. And most importantly it excites me to write something that could very well inspire or help someone achieve their dreams.

- Visualize the fruits of your goal

Your new goal, whether it’s daily, weekly or monthly, should bare some sort of visual fruit. You should be able to see, visualize the end result. You should be able to see the achievements as if they have been completed. See them in detail, see the effect they have on other aspects of your life. Feel the experience as if it has already been achieved.

- Put everything in!!

Once you know what you want and what you have to do to get it, do EVERYTHING that you can to make it a reality. Work harder, work longer, if you have distractions eliminate them! This does NOT MEAN that you ignore your family, it does not mean that you stay at the office every night until midnight. Everything in balance, if you neglect one aspect of your life to focus more on building another then you will quickly find an imbalance that will quickly burn you out. You will find that once you have fixed one problem another will be waiting. That is why I gave you the example before about how I talk to my wife about everything. We work it out together, we make it work together, and our family and marriage is happy and complete.

2. Eliminate Excuses

When you use excuses you are only justifying your failures or providing reasons why you should quit or give up. We all have busy lives we all experience problems and troubles, but when we start to make excuses for the reasons why we can’t do something then we’re only excepting our failures. We are defeating ourselves, when we’re the one person standing between our dreams and visions we can never expect to succeed.

Instead of focusing on the things that we can not do, or things that we do not want, we have to be focused on the goal and the things that we want to achieve, we need to constantly be focused on our PURPOSE.

There should not be any excuse that is more important then your reason for success. There should be nothing more important to you then your goals and dreams and living your life the way you want.

I have found that my blog, either personal or business, has been a great way for me to focus on the positive, to clear my mind of all the negative thoughts that are trying to keep me from my dreams. It’s a way to vent, and if it is done right you will find that you feel better, and the people that read your articles feel better! You are not the only on in the world with your problems.

My purpose is my family, my wife, our children, and the future of our family. If there was any excuse bigger then that, it could be said of me that I do not really love them. But because I do love them and know and understand my responsibility as the provider, they motivate me to succeed. There is nothing more important to me then my family! They are my purpose!

3. Develop Incentives

Anyone that has ever worked in Corporate America, knows and understands incentives. In my last J.O.B, I was a sales manager. I managed a team of 12 outbound phone sales reaps, and if you’ve ever had to spend 8 hours on the phone every day, you know how important incentives really are. I learned really quick that the more I could empower my team to get on the phone and crank out their calls the more successful they felt and most of the time the results were outstanding.

It is one thing to give an incentive when the end result is achieved, but it is much more powerful to give incentives that motivate people to do the steps that get them to the end result.

For example: My team had to make at lest 80 dials a day and have a minimum of 2 hours talk time. Our job while on the phone was to pre-qualify sales leads. We were the beginning of a huge sales process for Business Management Software. Most of our dials were cold, meaning know one was expecting our call, we did not know the situation; like what type of software they were already using, and we surely did not know who we needed to talk to. Each call was like jumping into a cold, icy lake in the middle of a Canadian winter. No one was excited about that first leap, and we had to do it 80 times a day minimum. Just because it was a requirement was not enough for them to just willingly jump in the icy cold lake, especially when you never know what is under the water, or if you are going to get past the gatekeeper (secretary)! So there were incentives like, the first rep to 50 dials gets to spin the wheel (the wheel had prizes like, money, time off, free lunch..etc). Another might be, the first rep to hit 2hrs of talk time gets to spin the wheel. And when someone was spinning the wheel, everyone stopped working and came to watch. That was a requirement, it was important that we did everything together, good or bad. Seeing someone else win something was sometimes enough of an incentive to get them excited about getting back on the phone. It made it more real, yeah we talk about getting to spin the wheel and win cool prizes, but it’s always more real when they actually get to experience it!

Find incentives for yourself! What can you do every day to help motivate yourself to complete your simple daily task? That is were it is most important, because when we’re in the daily grind, we’ll see results, but when we enjoy doing those daily task, we will find great accomplishment in the completion of every day even if we don’t make that new sale or finish our daily blog post. Being happy and enjoying what we do is more important then achieving the end result! If we can not be happy and enjoy what we do, then accomplishing our goal or achieving our dream wont be as sweet as we’d like it to be, simply because we are not happy!

4. Cultivate Determination

What does determination mean?

firmness in purpose; resoluteness

the controlling or deciding of somethings nature or outcome

a tendency to move in a fixed direction

To control your own destiny, you have to decide what you want and how you are going to accomplish it, then you take action. And in that action you have to be determined that nothing is going to stop you from accomplishing your purpose and dreams.

The third definition, ‘a tendency to move in a fixed direction’, is so important! Think of it this way, I like to work out, I love to spend lots of time in the gym working on my physical health because it makes me feel better! I have this tendency however, to do really good at getting to the gym everyday for weeks, at lest 4-6, and then, for some reason will miss a day and that day turns into 2 and then 4 and then the next thing I know it has been 2 to 3 weeks sense I went to the gym. The really hard part about that is all the work I accomplished in those 4-6 weeks of hardcore workouts, has now been undone in the short 2-3 weeks of laziness.

We need our direction to be fixed, to never change! Lets say that after that 6 weeks of hardcore workouts I had reached the goal that I was wanting to accomplish, and then I stopped working out. What is going to happen? I am going to realize in 2 or 3 weeks that I have to start over, and my motivation to do that is going to be very low! I am probably going to be frustrated and frustration is not a motivating factor.

It’s the same with our business goals, if we stop doing those day-to-day task that get us to our end result then we won’t continue to progress, we’ll either stay the same or slide backwards.

Be determined to reach your dreams no matter what! Be determined to maintain your daily habits and patterns that helped you reach your goals.

REFUSE TO QUIT

Remember this quote, and put it on your wall, “When you see a successful business someone once made a courage’s decision!”

Now that you have the steps and the ideas of what you need to do to make your business or any aspect of your life a success, lets talk about IMPLEMENTATION.

What can you do today to put these steps into action? Sure you can jump on the phone, or start sending some emails, you can go out and bang on doors, but when you are frustrated and unmotivated those things are hard to do! Lets be honest, if those things were easy to do you would be doing them, if you enjoyed them you would do them as often as you could! So lets look for an alternative, something that you could do that would be beneficial and enjoyable. You want something that is going to take as little effort as possible and not cost you a tone of money.

I suggest you start Journaling!

Here is why, you need to start visualizing your goals and dreams, you need to start living as if you have already accomplished what you want. You need to write everything done, map out your plan and your goals, and you need people that will hold you accountable. Journaling will provide you with a platform that will give you a way to accomplish all of these things. Like I mentioned before, you are not the only person in the world with your problem, could you imagine what you could accomplish if you could put your struggles and successes into a format that would allow other people to learn from you?

Journaling Strategy

It is important to always have a strategy or system no matter what type of journal you are writing or what your objectives are. Here are a few ideas to help you get started!

Write something everyday

Review your day, identify the lessons you were to learn

Write about the things that inspire you

Write about the things you read

Write the things you’d like to teach your children

Success is up to you! Go and get it!

Jim Rohn use to always say, “It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go”. You and I make the decision where we want to go in life and how fast we want to get there. We control the sails on our vessels, therefore we’re the ones responsible for everything that have right now in our lives, good or not so good.

If you want to live a more abundant life, there are 3 things you must learn to master every day. Follow these ABCs and you’ll start living amore abundant life today!

A. Have a Positive Attitude

Charles Swindoll—author, educator, and Christian pastor—said: “Attitude, to me, is more important than . . . the past, . . . than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regard- ing the attitude we will embrace for that day.”

We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may we choose a positive attitude.

B. Believe in Yourself

Thomas Fuller, an English churchman and historian who lived in the 17th century, penned this truth: “He does not believe that does not live according to his belief.” Don’t limit yourself and don’t let others convince you that you are lim- ited in what you can do. Believe in yourself and then live so as to reach your possibilities. You can achieve what you believe you can. Trust and believe and have faith.

C. Face Challenges with Courage

Courage becomes a worthwhile and meaningful virtue when it is regarded not so much as a willingness to die manfully but as a determination to live decently.

Said the American essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide on, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.”

This is article is only an overview of what has been shared one these 3 topics. To read the full article, written by, Thomas Monson, download it here.

Have you ever wanted to be more effective? Accomplish more every day and still have time to spend with your family or to do the things you love? By following this formula (which is a simple 7 steps) you can accomplish more each day and have more time to do the things you want to do!

Decide exactly what you want

Clearly and in great detail, write down what you want

Set a deadline for the achievement of that goal

Create a list of everything you can think of, that you’ll need to achieve your goal

Organize your list into a plan. What do you do first, what do you do second, etc…

Take action on your plan immediately

Do something everyday to achieve your major goal

Brian Tracy talks more about each of these tips in this video, The Psychology of Time Management

About two weeks ago I attended a chamber of commerce luncheon. This was my first time meeting with this particular chamber and therefore I knew only a couple of people there.

As it is accustomed to do, we went around the room, introducing ourselves and giving our 30 second commercials. The last individual to introduce herself was very uneducated in the way of business networking, which I think, is something very common among small business owners.

We will call this lady Ana. Ana is a nice person, very happy and excited about life. She had a huge smile on her face and was very supportive of the others in the group. But when Ana got up to do her 30 second commercial I think everyone stopped listening. I can not honestly recall what she said in her 30 second commercial, that was more like 2 minutes, but I can remember it was a sales pitch. She proceeded to tell everyone about one of the products she sells and why we should all buy it before Christmas.

When we were free to mingle, Ana came to talk to me. Our conversation went something like this. She asked me what I do, then proceeded to tell me why I should buy her product. I mentioned that I use one of her competitors and she scoffed at me. Telling me all the bad things about the service I was using and said that I probably use it because it is free. My first reaction was to try and defend myself and why I use that product. But I knew it would only be a waist of my energy because she wouldn’t listen. My second thought was to tell her how she just ruined any chance she might of had to add me to her prospect list. Her approach was a bad reflection on herself and the company she represents, it was a huge turn off.

I wanted to tell her all of these things while we were talking, but I didn’t want to be the bad guy on my first day, so I sent her an email a week latter.

This is the email I sent…

Ana,

It was nice meeting you last week. I have been meaning to send you this email. I wanted to point out two observations I made while we were talking that I think might really help you be more successful.

You must know, it is important that you are teachable for this feedback to be effective. I share this with complete respect and purposeful intent. If you do not feel teachable please do not read the rest of this email. It may lead to resent, which is not my purpose.

First:

In your introduction you were more focused on selling your products then being a valuable resource. What would be more effective is to tell people what you do, and invite them to a meet with you to discover how you might be able to save them time and money.

Then when you meet with people you do a needs analysis, looking at what they are currently using, what it cost, what they like or dislike, etc…Then you, not selling, but informing them on specifics, show them how your services/products can help them, focusing on what they just told you about their services, not on what you think will be of interest to them.

Just doing this can increase your business dramatically!

Second:

When I mentioned to you that I use [a competitor], you scoffed at me, and began making commits about what a bad service [the competitor] is and how it’s free and that is why everyone uses it, etc…etc…

To be honest, at that very moment, I was completely turned off by you; and determined I would never do business with you.

If I was a legitimate prospect, I would no longer be; and would likely avoid you every time I saw you.

I could defend [competitor] and tell you why it is a good service and why I use it and even though they have a free version I could explain why I pay for their services. But you don’t care! Or at lest that is what I understood about your comments and body language. I even had the thought that you have probably never used [competitor] and clearly do not know what they offer as a service. This makes you irrelevant to me if I’m a prospect.

So I tell you this because I am sure that I’m not the first person to have this type of an encounter with you. Do you see how your approach is distractive? It does not enable you to build relationships or properly promote your services. Instead it has a counter affect. Drives people away and gives your company a bad name.

In the one-on-one approaches like we had, you should have the same focus, learn all you can about what the prospect currently uses and why they use it. Identify their pain points and allow them to tell you why they would buy from you. Don’t assume you know what everyone needs. Even if you think your products/services are the best thing on the market, it takes 3-5 exposures before any prospect will see that. Your job is to educate people on how your service will assist them with the problems they have. Not with the problems you think they have!

I hope this information is helpful. Again, I want you to be successful; and be able to help as many people as possible. The best salespeople are always consultants (a person who provides expert advice professionally).

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

Ana responded to this email with gratitude for my willingness to take my time and provide this “positive constructive feedback”.

I’m sharing this on my blog because I think it is important that more people learn how to properly network. I understand that we only make money when we sell our products and services, but we’d be much more effective salespeople when we learn to put our focus on the prospect, ask good questions, and find ways to add value to their lives and businesses.

For an example of the Business Analysis I use when meeting with prospects can be seen here. I encourage you to go through the three pages, answering the question as if we were meeting to discuss your business. Once you fill out the form, you’ll receive an email with the questions and your answers. Tailor these questions to what you do. And it may be so simple as just using page 2 for your needs analysis interviews.

How do you add value to your prospects; and how do you show people you’re interested in their business?

Lets face it, you don’t do anything illegal, that you know of. You’ve never been sued, or had to sue somebody else. So why would you need a legal plan?

You probably know Oprah, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Michael Dell, and other big business owners not only use attorneys, but probably own entire firms (internal firms dedicated to just representing their individual corporations). And for some reason, it just seems more logical that they would use attorneys. If they think it’s necessary, why do we small business owners, that are just struggling to get by, feel we are immune to the idea of accessing legal advice and representation?

But seriously, why would you need a legal plan?

The answer is really simple, the most successful businesses have access to the right resources they need to make smart decisions and protect them from other peoples bad decisions.

What does that mean, the right resources?

We all have resources. It’s just that sometime those resources aren’t the best options. For example, if you have a brother that’s a dentist, would you seek his advice regarding your knee injury just because he’s a “doctor”? You could, but what’s likely to happen? He’ll either give you some really bad advice, or he’ll tell you to talk to an M.D (medical doctor) right.

The same thing applies when you’re dealing with the advice you need on how to successfully handle a legal situation. You may know a lawyer, and they may be ‘proud’ to give you advice, but when that lawyer is a personal injury (P.I) attorney and you need some advice on business taxes to avoid an IRS audit, do you really want to ask a P.I attorney? In many situation like this, business owners think, ‘oh, well, my accountant is really smart and they deal with that stuff’. Yeah, but if they make a mistake or dot the wrong T and cross the wrong I, the IRS will come to you, not the accountant! You need to know and understand what they are doing. And with a business legal plan you can talk to your attorney about what your accountant is doing and make sure that you are legally protected and maximizing your business deductions! Plus, a good legal plan would include IRS Audit assistance.

Classic example, remember when Mike Tyson was arrested for assault and batter (he beat up some dude in traffic), well he took his tax attorney to court to represent him, yeah, Tyson went to jail for 4 years.

There are literally hundreds of legal questions you should be asking every year if you’re a business owner. And maybe you do, but are you asking the right people? Are you relying on Google to produce the answers you need? Are you asking uncle Bob who’s a Malpractice Attorney in Georgia about what you should be doing in Arizona? Obviously, different states and different cities and different counties have different laws.

So why don’t we access the right resources?

We cant afford it! That’s the bottom-line! We’ve been priced out of the legal system. When calling a lawyer cost $200 to $500 an hour, it’s just not logical to pick up the phone and seek the right advice. Especially if it’s an issue that will cost less than the attorneys hourly wage to resolve.

But what if there was a way you could talk to specialized attorneys on an unlimited number of issues, have them write letters and make phone calls on your behalf, review your documents and contracts (before you sign them), write debt collection letters, advise and represent you in the case you’re audited by the IRS, and not have to worry about the high hourly cost! Now you’re dreaming right? Come on, that’s almost too good to be true, or is it…?

There is a solution!

You may or may not have heard of this amazing company, LegalShield, and if you have and you don’t subscribe to their services, you may have some preconceived ideas or just not completely understand there service, because if you did you’d be using it!

Their services are not new, their a 40 year old company. They have 1.4 million families paying for their services every month and there are over 2 million request a year (2010) for their services. More than 54,000 small business owners use these services every month across North America, and now you can too!

Some people avoid the company because of its business model, network marketing. Others avoid it because of ignorance. Either way that individual is the looser. Seriously, would you ever be without your health insurance? No, because it could coast a fortune if you didn’t have it and had to use it. Did you know that a legal situation could whip you out financially, just as quickly as a major medical issue could? Then way would you not protect yourself, your family, and your business? (You’re 3 times more likely to end up in court then you are to end up in the hospital)

And it’s not just about the big emergencies. In fact, in most cases when you use your legal plan it will be to ask a question to help you make smarter life decisions. Or you may have an issue where you’re being taken advantage of and you just need some muscle to help you activate your rights.

The bottom-line is this, if you can’t afford to pay $75 a month for a small business legal plan, then you won’t be able to afford a $200 an hour attorney when you need one.
