A New Year... A New Start...

So I haven't really started 2010 the way I wanted to... I'm currently snowed under with man flu and real snow! And I just can't seem to figure out what I want to do next with my art!

I gave myself the first month away from blogging to try and figure that out... And I'm still going to do that. But with being stuck at home today, and trying to figure out a direction... Well I fancied sharing a new piece of art instead of doing something productive!

Completed over Christmas, this is a ballpoint pen drawing of Jennifer Aniston. I just really liked the strange angle on the head... And we all know how much I like drawing cool hair!

Anyway... Back to banging my head against a wall looking for direction...

Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot

So here we are at the end of another year... And it's been a productive year art wise...

I've been working a little over the Christmas period, despite the fact I seem to be getting ill right in the middle of my holiday! Bloody typical! Sob!

I have lots and lots of new things I want accomplish on the art front starting tomorrow... But unfortunately this will mean taking a little break on the blogging side of things while I get my arse into gear!

Just a few weeks, a little breathing room, be back by my birthday later in January... In fact that may be the perfect time to start sharing again. I have projects I've always wanted to do. Bigger and better things... Anyway, if I get itchy feet before then I might pop a doodle or 2 up on here. But I want to get my head down for a while. Make some real progress.

So until then... This is the last of my older drawings... From my very first Moleskine... Above is a crop of my favourite section... But here is the whole thing stitched together...

I say stitched, because this is rather insanely 4 pages tied together... As in the middle is a 2 page spread, and the ends are the back of those 2 pages in the sketchbook. A rather silly idea that seemed so clever at the time... Hey ho... Click on it for a better look...

Anyway, I wish you all a very happy New Year... Have lots of fun celebrating tonight. And I'll be back before you know it in 2010!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas... And thank you to all that commented on my last post and on my flickr! So cool that people are following my stuff... Feel very honoured!

Anyway, here's the last of my original trilogy Star Wars pieces... And it's a funny one...

This is my favourite image... But a totally awful likeness! Hahaha... Nah, seriously, I kinda like the pose and the quality... But didn't really capture Carrie Fisher successfully enough.

Wanted to share though...

Anywho... One more drawing to go up this year.. Then I'll see you all in 2010... Which sounds so futuristic... We should all be traveling around in flying cars and stuff... Which would be awesome!

The second drawing in my Star Wars trilogy... Gearing up for the Christmas break... So just a quick post tonight... Ballpoint on bristol board... And another slightly off likeness... But a decent illustration none the less!

Captain Of The Millenium Falcon...

Here's the first of a trilogy of illustrations I did earlier in the year.

I'm a huge fan of Star Wars... Especially the original trilogy... And when I started out working on these I was really going for the likeness... Now the reason I held of putting them up, was because I think I really did fluff up with how much they look like the people they're supposed to... It kind of got away from that exactness... The effort to capture the actor...

Han Solo is closest of the 3... He Kinda looks like Harrison Ford... But as you'll see from the other 2 later in the week... The likenesses are a bit off... Not quite there...

Still, I like them as drawings... And they at least look sorta like the characters... But they're good illustrations I think... Alot of nice stuff in there... So they see the light of day while I'm having a clear out!

I've always liked this composition... But think this drawing is kinda bland. But here it is to share...

Anyway, It's snowed!!! So I'm off out to build a snowman, have a nice weekend all...

Cleaning Out The Closet

I've been working on building up a body of work online... In fact this is my second go at this... I had my art blog before, but it got out of my control a bit... I lost interest. It fell apart.

So I started again. And over the past few months I've been reposting the best I'd completed before, often with a tweak and a polish, while putting up any new bits and pieces I'd come up with in that time.

A new year approaches...

And one of my favourite things about that is that it's a fresh start. A new beginning. I get that feeling every year!

And this time I'm ready... Or I will be... I have many projects and plans for my art. Stuff I've been working on these past few weeks. And will continue to work on over the Christmas break. Ready for January 1st when I can really kick all this into gear finally.

But until then I have the last of the good work sitting in my portfolio to post. In fact I spent all evening last night, tweaking, scanning, and planning what pieces to put up and when over the next few weeks. Some of it isn't quite as good as stuff I've posted before! But all of it has something I like. A detail. A section. Something worthwhile. That means I want to put it out there.

So for anyone that visits my site. Or has followed my work for the last year or so... Well there will be nothing new until next year. But there will be a half dozen posts of what I think is good work. Not brilliant, oh my god, work. Just solid art I want to share.

A kind of cleaning out the closet before I get a clean slate next year. I hope you don't mind.

I was in 2 minds whether to bother putting this up when I scanned all the pieces I produced in this Moley... Let's just say it's a bit simple!

And I have a stricter point of view on what gets shared now... No half arsed pics from me!

But still... I think it's quite a cute little drawing... So here it is... For all to see...
