I'm back, and with a vengeance! Been sketching a bunch but can't say the same about painting...or posting. Things gotta change and I'll start by showing you this spider and knight painting, cleverly titled if I do say so myself 'Spider and Knight.'

A few of my friends whom are also illustrators did their own interpretation of the word 'spider' You can check out their creepy crawlers on their blogs!!!

Kung Fu Kitty vs. Knight Dog IV

2012-03-09T00:10:00.002-05:00

I sent out Twitter Blasts. Facebook Updates. Asked the internet world what I should paint on a blank skateboard deck. Some suggestions I got were paint animals, paint nothing and sign it, but the best response I got was a have a cat and dog sword fighting. Sketching it all out right now.

This is for an art auction to fundraise money for the Montana Skatepark Association held annually. Their goal is to build and maintain free, public skateparks throughout Montana. This year the show of the completed decks is hosted by The Brink Gallery It's up to the artists who care to participate to create something out of this blank skateboard deck. Total freedom which is fun! This has been going strong and heading into their 7th year! And I'm excited to s how you all the finished deck very soon!

Fox Boy Balancing Act

2012-02-16T21:34:00.000-05:00

Another Fox Boy Animation...A few more soon to come. This little guy is kinda growing on me... He started out as just a doodle because I couldn't think of anything else. Drawing anything just to spark some inspiration...I think I've found some...

Chicken Little

2011-12-13T21:53:00.000-05:00

This illustration is my submission for the Tomie dePaola Award for the 2012 SCBWI Winter Conference held in NYC. Tomie dePaola himself choose an excerpt from 'Chicken Little' and illustrators from SCBWI illustrated their own interpretation from the little blurb.

Here's the blurb...

So they went along and went along until they met Turkey Lurkey
“Good morning, Goosey Loosey, Ducky Daddles, Cocky Locky, Henny Penny,
and Chicken Licken,” said Turkey Lurkey, “where are you going?”
“Oh, Turkey Lurkey, the sky is falling and we are going to tell the King!”
“How do you know the sky is falling?” asked Turkey Lurkey.
“Ducky Daddles told me,” said Goosey Loosey.
“Cocky Locky told me,” said Ducky Daddles.
“Henny Penny told me,” said Cocky Locky.
“Chicken Licken told me,” said Henny Penny
“I saw it with my own eyes, I heard it with my own ears,
and a piece of it fell on my tail!” said Chicken Licken.
“Then I will go with you,” said Turkey Lurkey, “and we will tell the King!”

Hope you enjoy. And hope to see/meet others at the conference! Been working hard to prepare, it'll pay off ...someday. :D

Stitch

2011-09-06T20:27:00.000-04:00

Stitch from Lilo and Stitch (a Walt Disney Feature Animation.) Is one of my all time favorite character designs. He's got it all, everything I love about character design rolled up into this blue alien-dog, large eared creature! His expressions are extreme from his cute puppy like eyes that you just fall in love with, to this dark, evil side that he possesses. The film it'self is great, but they could of had a million Stitches which would have made it amazing! Watching Stitch animated and move on screen is a delight. His quick movements standing then squatting and crawling around is animation at it's best! - One emotion to the next, a character with so much character. Also the sketches in Stitches development are treasures in themselves. - (All copyright belongs to artists and Walt Disney Studios, I do not own or take credit for them.)

Besides the movie I own this little Stitch figurine, along with many others. Figurines such as this one is such a good source of reference. Much better then a photo on an image on a monitor. I keep him on my desk for added inspiration.
Enjoy!

Did You Draw Today? Did You Blog Today?

2011-08-27T16:26:00.000-04:00

Being stuck in the house all day awaiting for Irene to show her face it got me thinking I should post something "new" to my blog of mine. Been pretty busy with multiple projects, but going TO post a drawing a week, and an occasional finished piece. I know I've said it before but I mean it this time! A sketch a week that's doable.

So as a reminder to myself I wrote on a post it "Did You Draw Today?" EVERYDAY! I'm going to write another one "Did you Blog This Week?"

As for the drawing this week. Four Furry Monsters and Their Precious Jewels. A story in the works? Perhaps.

Wish You Were Here

2011-08-02T11:07:00.000-04:00

Similar to a postcard with a beautiful picture of your vacationing spot that you would send to your family and friends. In this case it's a card and on the inside it reads, "Wish you were here."

It was easy picking the perfect gift for you...Wrapping it up was a hassle.

A birthday card illustration I did recently. More to come soon.
