Don’t forget to book your family portrait session before it gets too hot!

On a sidenote, we were so impressed by her manners. I’m still not entirely ok with 18 year olds calling me sir and Mr. I’m not old enough! Just kidding, it shows a lot about how she was raised and I really respect good parenting.

This incredibly fun family was a joy to work with. Nothing but smiles and good times. We got some solos of John B for his senior portraits and the whole family as well. I’m so happy to share these!

Kelly had Mandi laughing the entire time with his antics. I said “you guys just have fun and I’ll take pictures” and they did just that for me. It was a perfect engagement session full of happiness and great photos. They were naturals. I absolutely can’t wait for their wedding!

It was fun to take a fun tour of the island with Dani and Erik as we found different photo locations that you’ll see below. Congrats you two!

You see that photo above? That’s a stack of 725 4″x6″ prints.

You see that baby on top? She’s mine. And I love her so much.

Why is there a stack of 725 prints on my dining room table? Because photos don’t belong on a computer. Sure, it’s a great place to store them for later use, like prints in a shoebox.

Photos belong on paper.

It’s their true home. On paper and in albums or frames.

I write this to remind you that even though your photos may be on Facebook or your computer, the print is the true realization of a photograph.

I would never sell a client a sub-par product. I believe in our products so much that I buy them for my family. We spent a lot of money on these prints which are such an investment in our family.

How Can A Bride Prepare for These Photos?

Everything but the dress. We love capturing those last makeup and hair details right before you step into your dress. It’s usually an exciting time as you wait in anticipation of seeing it all come together – hair, makeup, nails, flowers, shoes, and… the dress. Getting each of those details before they come together helps tell the story.

Pick a large room with lots of natural light (lots of windows). When I don’t have to artificially add light I am able to capture the photos exactly as both I and those in the room see them. Plus, how distracting is it for those moments to be interrupted by repeated flashes of light? Having a larger room gives us all room to move around and give us plenty of photo options.

Clean up a bit. While I don’t ever expect a spotless room, having your attendants do a quick pickup will help lots. Hiding dress bags, packing clothes, hiding suitcases, making up the bed, throwing away trash and fast food cups help so much. Pretty rooms help make pretty pictures.

Everyone should be completely ready except for you. Your attendants are called that because traditionally, that’s why you asked them to spend all day with you in matching dresses – to attend to you and your needs. Having them be completely ready when I arrive means all of their attention is on you. Each gets to be in your photos helping and interacting with you instead of looking for her shoes.

Looking back through this engagement session reminded me how excited I am to be their wedding photographer! See you two in May at Epworth!

It turned out so wonderfully! Harper is adorable and, as you can see, her parents love her so much!

This time it’s a Kodak Duaflex IV Camera, a dual lens camera where you look through the top of the camera to see the picture instead of looking forward like you do in modern camera. It gave me an interesting view by looking backward through the front lens to see my baby on the other side!

Behind the scenes during the shoot with my trusty sidekick and Eliana’s awesome mommy, Amanda. The part facing Eliana is the part you look through to take the picture.

Arriving with his dogs and his soon to be fiance, they took a stroll down the beach toward us. The feeling of being a paparazzi was in full effect as they walked toward us. Then as soon as Kelly got close and was at a good angle, he got on one knee and asked her! After she said yes and they hugged and kissed so joyously, Kelly pointed us out… to her surprise!

It was so great to be a part of this time with you two!

I’ve known Kevin since he was just a few years old and I worked for his dad at my first job (about age 16). He would hang out with me as I worked and always made things a little more fun. Fast forward to now, his senior year of high school. Since this dude has already been around the world traveling, he thought his senior session should reflect that. I totally agree.

So we decided to include planes, trains, and boats into the session. It’ll be a two-part blog since we haven’t had the boat session yet. So off to the railroad in Brunswick we went to have a bit of fun. Then as it approached sunset we went to to BQX, the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport.

I can’t wait for the boating part!

On a sunny Saturday, we drove to Mitchell, GA for Megan and Ryan’s wedding. About an hour from Augusta, Mitchell was so small that we had to go to the next town over to get gas! Though this wedding was not what you would typically expect from such a small town. Everything was done well and beautifully! A silk wedding dress. Raw harvested cotton for the floral arrangements. Full band. The DIY  decorations looked like a professional designer was on staff. Then top it off with fireworks before the bride and groom departed.

We were in for a treat with this wedding!

Not to mention Megan and Ryan were some of the coolest people in the world! I felt like I was on more of a fashion shoot than wedding portraits when I was photographing them. Their families, as expected, were so wonderful to be around. Thanks for being awesome!
