The light fog this morning kept things damp, but also provided some nice crepuscular rays as the sunlight streamed through the trees.Here are a few more fall photos. There was also an interesting mackerel sky;  rain is less than a day away. While I was out taking photos, the local medical “life flight” helicopter flew overhead. It’s not really a castle; it is the shell of a gatehouse built at the turn of the 20th century for a large country estate planned by Feargus Squire, one of the founders of the Standard Oil Company in the late 1800s. I happened to be outside taking photos of the patch of dark clouds that came in off Lake Erie when, in a flash, the clouds appeared to be on fire. In some cases, the clouds looked tinged with green, a color I usually don't see in clouds. The video is a little shaky and wobbly as it was hard to hold the camera steady, much less keep myself standing at the same time. I uploaded it to YouTube anyway for all the weather fans out there. The beach was almost deserted, with only 4 (crazy) people besides me trying to walk the mile long beach. Wind gusts in the area were reported at 50 mph and it was very hard to stand up, much less walk near the shore. We lost a huge branch from our apple tree that was loaded with apples. I think the weight of the branch was too much for it to withstand the heavy winds.As the first storm moved through, some very ominous, swirling clouds appeared. This morning I was out photographing Venus and the moon (along with some “earthshine” on the moon). The sky was crystal clear which made for some nice shots. While I did see two meteors streak across the sky, my camera was not so lucky. It managed to get a flare of one as it streaked through the camera’s field of view just a second before the shutter closed. The only evidence are two tiny green streaky blobs in one of the pictures. Just to the left of the moon was a bright object that was likely a planet. I got out my camera to take a few photographs before I researched which planet I was seeing.Imagine my surprise when I viewed the photos on my computer to find that the planet- Jupiter – was also surrounded by a few of its moons. I decided since I wasn’t behind the wheel I could take a video of part of the trip down and back. Here is a video of our drive on part of the east and west Shoreway as it drives around the city. As the clouds bubbled up in the late afternoon, it made for some great cloud pictures.  The sun peeked through some darkening clouds, and I caught a few interesting shots of crepuscular rays.
