We are still looking for at least 3 more catechists to come and help teach our classes this year.

Helping our youth have a solid foundation during this critical time in their lives is essential to our whole community. To help us in any way, or for more information, please contact Lourdes at 323.217.3344.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” – John 15:16

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for supporting the coin drive sponsored by the youth ministry this month of July. We have raised $300. The monies collected will  help cover part of the cost of 2 archdiocesan formation classes at the end of August that each youth will be taking. Each class is $25 and we have 13 members taking each class. We ask that you please continue to support us financially and with your prayers. Please deposit any donation in the donation box found in the vestibule (Arden entrance by the school) or in the office.
Gracias por apoyar al ministerio de jovenes  en este mes de Julio. Ellos han estado colectando monedas y donaciones para cubrir los gastos de 2 clases de formacion que estaran tomando los fines de  Agosto. Hemos recaudado $300. Cada clase cuesta $25, y son 13 jovenes que van atender. Pedimos que nos sigan apoyando financieramente y con sus oraciones. Si gustarian hacer una donacion, favor de poner la en la caja de donaciones localizada en el vestibule (entrada sobre la arden, a lado de la escuela), o en la oficina.
Mansuetus Setonga will be visiting our Church. Fr. Setonga comes from the diocese of Same in Tanzania, Southern Africa where in some villages the medical center is an 8 hour walk away. Out of its total population, Tanzania has over 55 million people making about $1 per day, making this one of the poorest nations.
Fr. Setonga is hoping to raise enough funds to start    buying medical supplies and building materials (labor is being provided by the villagers) for a medical center. As the body of Christ, let us come together and help our brothers and sisters who are in need, and give a  generous contribution to his good mission.
Msgr.
Msgr.  Paul’s first assignment was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Los Angeles.  He was next assigned to Our Lady of the Valley Church in Canoga Park until 1979 when he was assigned to St. Luke Church in Temple City where he served until 1983.  Msgr. was assigned to St. John Chrysostom Church as Administrator and finally named Pastor.  He remained in St. John’s parish for 16 years.  For the past 10 years he has served as the pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Santa Clarita.
Msgr. Paul was elected as Dean of Deanery 16 for ten years.  He served on the Board of Directors of St. John’s Seminary College and Theology for six years, as Chairman of Development for the Archdiocesan Committee on Trusts and Estates, and as Chairman of the Holy Name Union for the Archdiocese for 18 years.  Monsignor was also a member of the Police Chaplain Corp of Inglewood for seven years.
Msgr. Paul has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities since 1989.  Currently, he is Vice President of the Board of Trustees and serves on the Executive Committee and the Resource Development Committee.
Msgr. Paul was name and elevated to Prelate of Honor to His Holiness on June 6, 1995.
We have all been called to be Catechist. A Catechist is someone who “echoes” Jesus’ teachings to others through their words and their actions. Confirmation is beginning a new year. Around 100 youth register each year and we need adults who are willing to commit on being role models and share their faith with them. Our religious education office provides the lesson plan, materials, and resources needed, including opportunities to strengthen your own personal relationship with God (example: congress, retreats, and other workshops.) Helping our youth have a solid foundation during this critical time in their lives is essential to our whole community. To help us in any way, or for more information, please contact the office of Christ the King.
