On October 7, 2023, Israel was attacked by a militant group known as Hamas. The attack included thousands of missiles being fired and many suicide Hamas- driven trucks being driven in the land. Civilians, including mothers and children, are being mercilessly slaughtered. The goal of the group is to exterminate or drive out every Jewish person from the land.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially declared the state of Israel as being at war. He declares the response will be fierce, intense, and unrelenting. “Much more blood will be shed”. The U.S. has pledged to send help and assist the people of Israel in their time of need. What we can do is pray.

Today’s service: God’s work is a supernatural work that requires supernatural power. Without it, we’d be like Samson with no hair. Jesus was anointed with Holy Ghost power (LK 4:18); Paul was also (2 COR. 1:21-22); and so were the prophets, priests, and kings. The apostles were instructed to preach the Gospel, but not before being anointed with power from on high (ACTS 1:8). If all these needed the anointing to be effective in accomplishing God’s work on earth, what about us? If we’ve been commissioned to continue the works of Jesus, then we, too, need power from on high to do so! Zerubbabel lost sight of it (ZECH. 4:6).

In 2021, nearly 6,000 individuals were martyred for Christ. An increase of 24% from 2020. In 2021, 360 million Christians world-wide suffered significant persecution for their Christian faith. In the early church, many died a martyr’s death by stoning, sawing, burning, crucifixion, and many other forms of torture and capitol punishment. Stephen was the first martyred for Christ (ACTS 7:59-60). In short, a true disciple of Christ is one who’s willing to lay down his life for the one who laid down His life for him.

With a heavy schedule of appointments, President Lincoln had an elderly woman with no official business in mind ask to see him. Nothing is more important than aligning ourselves with the will of God. PS. 127:1 says it’s futile to build or protect what’s built without considering God’s will and perspective. God’s will for us in 2023 is to align ourselves with His priorities. He wants us to experience greater intimacy with Him, to bask in the glory of His presence, to exalt Jesus in our midst and to prepare ourselves for His coming. Are we willing to do our part so God can do His?

As Christians, we don’t need to make a resolution for the New Year. What we need to do, is to yield to the Holy Spirit and allow Jesus to live through our lives.

Leprosy like sin is incurable by man. They both require divine intervention and action on our part. Jesus didn’t say the lepers (in LUKE 17:11-19) were healed or going to be. He told them to go and show themselves to the priest. They were healed as they went. Faith acts before seeing! There are very real benefits of being thankful even before we see the evidence.

According to Jesus, the temple was not a place for extorting people for personal gain. It was a place where sincere hearts commune with God and express true worship from grateful hearts. Today, believers individually and collectively are the temple of God. As with the temple in Jerusalem, it is to be used in the service and praise of God. If it’s not, then it needs to be cleansed. In what condition is our temple? Is it a place where God can reside? If it needs cleansed, look to Jesus for cleansing and fill it with prayer, power, praise and Godly Virtue.

God’s judgment is not meant to lead to crushing guilt. It’s meant to bring repentance. It’s for our own good and the good of the church: to refine us, purify us, mature and transform us into salt and light. What begins in refining judgment, ends in redeeming grace.
Knowing one day we all will stand before the judgment seat of Christ, it
would benefit us to judge ourselves now to make sure our future judgment goes well.

As believers, we can live in close fellowship with God daily. Whether we do or not is more on us than on God. HEB. 13:5 AMPC says God never moves away from us. He’s always pouring out His love, joy, peace and whatever blessing we need to experience a close walk with Him. If God doesn’t move away from us, then who moved? Keeping a thankful heart causes us to stay close to God by making us constantly aware of His love and presence.
