An Eye For An Eye And A Tooth For A Tooth Lapbook

This is the front of the lapbook. This is a tooth picture that I drew and I added the scripture from Matthew 5:38-39 to the front. I just taped it down. When you open the folder on the left hand side there is a picture of another small tooth and some words that I cut out using decorative cutting scissors. The scripture is about when Jesus said that of old times it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth a tooth, but resist not evil he said. He said to turn and give your other cheek if someone hits you. That is really hard to do, but if we heed to what God say's to do then we will be okay.

If you don't brush your teeth what will happen? They will rot and fall out. Or you would have to get a filling or a cap. We have to take care of our teeth or we will have problems. The same with the word of God. If we do not obey God's word then we will have problems.

It's not that God wants you to be a door mat and never speak up, but we have to learn to keep our Spirit in good standing. God said, VENGEANCE IS MINE, I REPAY SAY'S THE LORD. He will pour out vengeance on those who try to destroy or hurt you.

You don't have to worry about trying to do something yourself when God can do it for you. God needs strong leaders. Jesus was meek, but a strong leader and speaker. He held is tongue at times, but at other times he spoke with strength and power and said in Matthew 23:29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous and in Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Jesus died for us yet he was not a doormat when he came to speaking the truth. We need to speak the truth of the word of God and not be a doormat for others to run over. Jesus spoke with power!!! He was not a doormat! He was the son of the living God. He is the GREAT I AM! He was not a push over! He was the CHRIST! We should hold our tongues when God say's to, and then when he say's to speak, then SPEAK!

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

God can repay and finish things out for us and we don't have to even put our finger in it so to speak. Let God deal with your problem. When he handles it, it's done the right way. If we handle it, it could lead to destruction and more problems. God's way is the perfect way.

This is the printable template for the folder. Just cut the small tooth out and the words and tape to the left side of the folder. On the right side you will need to tape the picture of the teeth.

The Life Of Tabitha "Dorcas" Lapbook

Acts 9:36-42

Here are the pictures of the kids lapbooks they made during class time. Each child got to pick what color of folder they wanted. (the thread and needle clipart picture is free to use, just don't sell it or add it to a free collection online. You can use it for personal use.)

I bought "Smead" Brights Folders- 1/3-cut tabs- Letter Size- Assorted Colors-QTY 100. The folders come in 5 different colors- Yellow, Red, Blue Green and Orange.

A hole punch was used on the folders so they could go in a large white binder folder.We will be making several different Bible story lapbooks so they can fill their binder up.

The kids did, The Life Of Tabitha "Dorcas" Lapbook. They learned that Tabitha, also known as Dorcas, was a woman that was full of goodworks and almsdeeds. In scripture she was referred to as a disciple. She sewed garments and coats for widows. Then one day she died. Peter was sent to her and raised her back from the dead. He put all the widows out of the room and kneeled down beside her and turned the body toward him and said, "Tabitha Arise!" She opened her eyes and saw Peter.

Act 9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
Act 9:37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
Act 9:38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
Act 9:39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
Act 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
Act 9:41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
Act 9:42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

God showed his mighty strength through Peter and raised Tabitha back from the dead. Many believed in the Lord because of this miracle. We still serve the same God today that existed in the Bible. He still works miracles, if you believe. The Bible say's that if we have the faith of the grain of a mustard seed we can say unto this mountain to be removed and it would have to obey us. Our faith is what fails, not God. Miracles ONLY happen through faith. It can and still does happen today. Jesus is so mighty and great. He is all powerful. He is a miracle worker and can work through us just like he did with Peter.

Did you know that even the disciples faith failed? They tried to heal a child that had a devil and it would not come out. The disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Why could we not cast him out?" and Jesus told them because of their unbelief. This kind goes out by prayer and fasting.

Mat 17:14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
Mat 17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
Mat 17:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Mat 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
Mat 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Mat 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

When we fast and pray, something very powerful happens. This is very hard for some people to wrap their minds around. Some folks may have never even heard of it before.

As far as my personal walk with Jesus goes, I believe in fasting and prayer. If you don't understand what fasting is, it is when you don't eat or drink anything at all for a certain amount of time and pray to God for what it is you need. Many people in the Bible fasted. Some fasted water and food, and some fasted like Daniel. Just depending on what your reading in the Bible, they fasted differently and for different amounts of time.

If you need something from the Lord, a miracle, try fasting and prayer. It works. Sometimes God may have a timing for something. God will show you and answer you about your situation. Everyone's situation is different. But rest assured God will answer you if you need to talk to him about something. Just listen to him and obey what he tells you.

The kids used the shirt pattern (availabe for free below). They cut the shirt pattern out and laid it on some felt and cut it out.

They hot glued the shirts to their folders on the inside of the folder on the right hand side and decorated them using some left over materials that I had in my closet from home. It was interesting to see how they decorated them. Cute, huh!

I took white lunch sacks that I bought from Wal-mart and cut the very bottom half off and taped it to the folder under their shirts they made. This will make a little pocket that opens up. I wrote the words "Tabitha's Sewing Pattern's" on the front of it and stuck the sewing pattern down in the pocket. Then the kids taped the three other pictures to the right of the folder, "Peter, Tabitha, Needle and Thread, and a Coat. The coat will come in black and white for the kids to color it. The rest of the pictures will come colored.

Needle and Thread-Printable Version This is the template for the front of the folder. Print the needle and thread picture out and have the child use decorative cutting scissors and cut it out. Have them tape it down on the front.

Peter, Tabitha, Needle and Thread Template-Printable Version

Here is the template for the right hand side of the folder. Just have them cut out all three images and tape down to folder. Have them color the coat first before they cut it out.

I made some yummy matching cupcakes to go with it for the kids. Just print the free needle and thread template out below and cut them out using decorative cutting scissors and tape a toothpick to the back.

White Binder With Clear Front Pocket Template

I made three letters, "A", "B", and "C" into printable leopard templates so you can put it in a three ring white binder that has a clear pocket in the front.

Each child in Sunday school class will get a binder with a clear pocket in the front to slide any piece of paper or artwork they want in it. Just print these off for the kids and cut them out using decorative cutting scissors. I then added a piece of colored construction paper behind the cut out leopard letter and slide down into the front of the binder.

You can fill the notebook with lots of different things. They can add their own stuff that you had them draw or you can fill the binder with print outs of quizzes, bible trivia, or just whatever you want to put in there. You could even do prayer request sheets or lessons. I have three different printable prayer request sheets below that tie in with the leopard theme for the binder.

When the binder is full let the kids take them home. You could even personalize the letters with their names on them. Just open the printable leopard template up in your paint program on your computer and type their name.

During classtime if your children are old enough to write answers down then you could do a bible trivia and ask them to write their answers down. Then after they are done you could take the binders up and grade them and give the child a scratch and sniff sticker on their paper. Then the next time they open their binders up they will see what they got and find the sticker.

Your class will never forget the Ten commandments once you go through each lesson like this. Each week you can do a new commandment that comes with crafts, mazes, puzzles, snacks and more. Make sure you have the children say the 10 commandments out loud in order each time you do a lesson so that way they can start getting this into their little minds. It will help them to memorize it. Kids learn from repetition.

I made Ten commandments cards for the kids and had them color them and cut them out and we put them in ziplock bags with their name wrote on the outside of the plastic ziplock bag. With each lesson I get the cards out and have the kids say these out loud with me twice while they look at them. We have the Ten Commandments Snacks. We also have the Ten Commandments Bulletin Board idea.

Lies Template- printable version
Cereal- any kind (I used Captain Crunch Berries)

Just print the Lies Template out and cut each little picture out. I used decorative cutting scissors as you can see in the picture but you don't have to. Just tape the tiny picture onto a very small plastic cup. I got my cups from walmart. Just fill with cereal and hand out to the kids. Use this snack when teaching on the 9th commandment of the Ten Commandments. This snack idea goes with our matching lesson plan that we offer, "Thou Shalt Not Lie Sunday School Lesson".

Colored Construction Paper or White Paper
Crayons
Tape or Stick Glue

Thou Shalt Not Lie Template Cut Out- printable version

Print the Thou Shalt Not Lie cut out sheet out. Have the child color the sign red. Cut it out and glue or tape down on a colored piece of construction paper or white paper. Have them put the picture and words right in the middle of the paper. Have them fold the paper on each side on top of the picture.
On the front of the construction paper have the child draw a door in the middle where the paper opens and write the words, "Open the door to see the 9th commandment". Have them draw an arrow from the words pointing to the door. This craft goes with our matching lesson plan we offer, "Thou Shalt Not Lie Sunday School Lesson."

This is an easy craft for smaller children to do for the 9th commandment of the Ten Commandments. "Thou Shalt Not Lie" or "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor". Have the kids color a black line all around the rim of the paper plate. Then have them draw a black circle in the middle. Have them draw a line through middle going sideways and write the words, "LIES" in the middle of the paper plate. Have them color some of the paper plate red like the picture shows. Write the words, "Exodus 20:16 on the paper plate in the middle in small letters. This craft goes with our matching lesson plan, "Thou Shalt Not Lie Sunday School Lesson".

This is one of our wood slices that we sell through our store at "Church House Woodworks Etsy Store".

I broke all of the ten commandments down for the kids each week and this is just a craft idea for the kids to have fun with. Let them draw on a wood slice to make this. This particular craft goes along with our lesson that we offer, "Thou Shalt Not Lie Sunday School Lesson".

Have the kids color the wood slice red all around the very edge then have them use a black marker to draw a circle on the wood slice . Just follow the grain of the wood and it will make a perfect circle. Have them draw a line through the middle going sideways and write the words LIES in the middle. You might need to help the kids do this or just let them have fun with it and if they mess up, then no big deal... This wood slice will fit in the palm of my hand. You could buy the bigger wood slices we offer and let them turn this into a drink coaster for home.

We offer the wood slices in different sizes. I posted a picture above so you could see how large the wood slice was. I laid a bobby pin that goes in your hair above it so you could get a good idea.

Mother's Day Handprint Flowers

This is a messy but fun way for kids to show their mom they love her. Just let the kids dip their hand in some green paint and make a handprint on a piece of paper. Then have them do some little flowers around the stems (The green hand) with their finger. I used blue but you can do any color you want. Then draw a pot under the hand and write Happy Mother's Day on it. You could have them color the pot brown if they want.

Print this sheet out and have the child write on the lines why they love their mom. Then have them glue the paper to a very large colored construction paper. Then have them take popsicle sticks and frame around the paper. Let them give it to their mom for Mother's Day!

Or let the child fill the paper out and laminate it so it will last forever!
