Travel Delay

So I am currently sitting in my office for the day, Portland International Airport. Our flight was initially booked for 10:05 am, and unbeknownst to Laura and I, our flight was moved to 6:25am! Basically we missed the email telling us that our flight was changed and while checking in online yesterday I never looked at the time. Oh well. We leave tonight and arrive in NY tomorrow.

This means I have some time to finally update my blog! Things have been super busy since the last post. My computer had some serious issues, but it has since been tuned up, new logic board, new optical drive, new display, new display cable, all for free. Thank you Applecare!

Also, I completed the photography for the Yoga Union Community Wellness Center. Thanks so much to the studio owners Todd and Annie for such a great opportunity and for providing such a special place to everyone. Here is a photo from the shoot.

I've also been dedicating a significant amount of time and effort into my marketing campaign. Research, meetings, phone calls. And things are going really well! Recently, I have become a member of The Association of Independent Architectural Photographers (AIAP), the Behance Network, and the Creative Hotlist.

I'm super excited to head back east to visit family and friends for the holidays!

I know it has been a few days since Thanksgiving, but it seems like the holiday is turning into a whole weekend of events rather than just a day. This thanksgiving was my second one here in Portland and it was even better than last year. Lots of muddy football, food, beverages, really great friends, and lots of laughter. Thanks to all of you for such a great time. I hope everyone else had a great weekend and I'm lookng forward to seeing some east coast family and friends in a few weeks!

The Website is Done!!!

The website and blog are finally done! After months of head scratching, photo selection, editing, and organizing, I finally have a polished website to share my work with people. Needless to say I am very excited it is completed and I am ready to move on to the next thing!

I plan on updating my blog with current and future professional and personal photography projects as well as some photography industry news that I find interesting. So please feel free to add my blog to your favorites or RSS feed if these things interest you.

I have been fortunate to have some recent work to share with you all. Here is a photo I was commisioned to do for a very good friend of mine. The project was a secret mission! It is a photo of a coffee shop in downtown Portland where my friends met, and began dating. The photograph was a present from Kathryn to Josh to commemorate their one year anniversary. The bicycle with the "I heart Oregon" sticker was completely serendipitous! I am happy to say the print came out better than I had hoped and it is now framed and on their wall at the base of the stairs of their new home. Their idea is that they will eventually fill the stairwell with photos of their lives' memories together, going up the stairs and this photo represents the beginning. I truly feel honored to be a part of this project as it is something that produced an image that is deeply meaningful to my clients and good friends.

I am also happy to say that I am also in the middle of another project that I am especially excited about. I will be providing three panoramic images to The Yoga Union Community Wellness Center. This project is also profoundly meaningful to me as both Laura and I practice yoga there and the space is very special to us. It is a remarkable opportunity for me to produce images for a place I truly cherish and for a company that contributes so much to its community. Big thanks to Todd and Annie for such a wonderful place and for such a great opportunity. I'll post the pics when the project is complete!

If for some strange reason you are currently looking at this page and it either looks strange or keeps changing, its because I am currently messing with it so it looks nothing like the basic blogspot blogs and so it also relates design-wise to my new (and yet to be announced) website. Hopefully this new website gets done soon as i have been working on it for months and its nearly there!... soo close... soooo close!

Last week Laura turned the big 3-0!!! We celebrated with a hike and some Sushi... a very Laura and Christian day. I forget the name of the Hike we did, but it reminded us both of some of the hiking we did in New Zealand. Very wet and and lush with life. Here are a couple of shots from the hike. I'm posting them to see how they look on blogger.. first time posting photos!

So here is a video made by Vincent Munier, showing of the video capture capabilities of the new Nikon D3s. It's a truly remarkable video if you consider the low light conditions and the extreme focal lengths. That and animals are cool. This posting is more about me testing more Blogger stuff.. basically posting my first video to it. Here is my update from my iPhone. I will delete it! Cool I can even post photos to it!
Here is a shot if the laurelhurst theater that I took with my iPhone a few weeks ago. Laura and I went to see "Away We Go" which we both enjoyed very much. Portland has a good amount of cool and interesting theaters like this one. Usually they only play movies that have just finished their run in major theaters so the prices end up being pretty damn cheap. Each ticket for us was 3 bucks! And you can have pizza and beer, for an additional price of course!
