Defining Health

The most comprehensive definition of health at all levels; physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual is based on fitness of function. That is fitness, size, strength, efficiency are entirely relevant to function. A stately redwood tree, with all its grandeur, may have faced few challenges in its habitat over its, long and splendid life. A small insignificant tuft of grass, on the other hand, struggling for existence in a barren crack in a well-trod walkway tells a powerful story about the extraordinary powers of life to adapt to and survive to the most adverse of conditions. That stunted tuff of grass demonstrates the presence of the same powerful force that directs the grandest of life forms is also potently active in the least of life's expressions. In the world of life energy, dimension, and quantity are secondary to purpose and meaning.

Where does a little creature such as our tuff of grass derive its purpose and meaning?

It comes from the mission statement encoded in every life form, 'be fruitful and multiply upon the earth' Gen 8:17. This is the purpose of mere survival, to exist long enough to assure the future self. All of life is founded on the premise of future life regardless of whether it is in the physical or spiritual dimension.

Health is accumulated potential directed towards

the extension of meaningful life.

A Meaningful Life

But what is meaningful life? Is meaning and purpose for us like that for the tuft of grass, the mere fulfilling of the need to survive and reproduce? Surely, we, as humans, have more responsibilities than simple survival. Or at least, for us, the dimensions of survival seem to have almost infinite possibilities, as is reflected by our complex natures. If we accept that health is dependent on purpose then only those physical attributes that support our mission can be considered as health. Qualities such as strength and longevity alone, although they may be beneficial in some particular circumstances, do not necessarily support one's given mission in life. Then too, meaning and purpose changes as we advance to different stages of life and face new challenges. So then, the qualities of health also change as our roles change from year to year, day to day, moment to moment.

True health is adaptive health. Our bodies are designed to adapt to both external and internal challenges in many ways. Constantly our body systems are adjusting to environmental changes to maintain temperature, moisture level, oxygen level, acid-base balance and essential nutriment levels. Our immune systems are constantly adapting to challenges from toxins, parasites, and pathogens. If this is the way we were created why would anyone think that a single diet is best for everyone or good for all circumstances?

True health is adaptive health

The nutritional needs for a bricklayer are different than that of an office clerk. These differences are not, in most cases, in the kinds of nutrients needed but in the quantities and proportions required to maintain efficient and sustained activity.

To maintain optimal health our needs are best met by sustenance that is customized to our current activities and life goals. Our diets and lifestyle should reflect our adaptive needs, if our lives are dynamic then our diets should be full of life; fresh, colorful, and varied.

Harmony with Truth

We are, as our Creator intended, self-programming entities. This programming may even exceed the demands and laws of physical reality. As we test our environment we are forced to unlearn things we thought were true but were not and relearn things we thought were untrue but were actually true.

There is the reality that we test and there is our model of reality that we maintain within ourselves on which we make decisions. When our model of the world is not in line with the true nature of life, with the true source of our being, we may experience frustration and may feel foolish as we gain little from our efforts. When our model of nature and the truth of nature are one and the same, we are in harmony with truth and we understand how to operate efficiently within the natural harmony of nature.

Distance Empowerment Lesson 1

What is Reiki?

Simply put, for the beauty of Reiki is in its simplicity, it is a method of permitting the unseen life force from the Fountainhead of Life to pass through the practitioner to vital areas of the subject. This Universal Life Energy works to enhance vitality; reduce stress, pain, fatigue; and to promote natural self-healing forces within the subject. Reiki is not a religion but it is a spiritual science that is open to everyone. In Japanese Reiki means soul spirit. Soul refers to our connection to unseen universal reality the lays hidden to our ordinary senses and spirit refers to life energy sometimes also called Qi, Chi, or Prana.

We are very grateful to Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing. Although Reiki comes to us from Japan, what we call Reiki has really been known by many names throughout history. We are also in debt to Mrs. Hawayo Takata who brought Reiki to the West in 1937.

A practitioner of Reiki is empowered through a series of attunements from a Reiki Master. Even though some people seem to have special ability to transmit this energy everyone has the capacity to do so if the internal channels through which this Life Force passes are opened up. This disinhibiting task is performed by a Reiki Master who has had their own inner channels balanced and strengthened for increased conductance of Qi. Traditionally this is only done after a cosiderable preparation under the guidance of a wise master. We encourage all practitioners to prepare for each attunement and to continue to practice personal spiritual refinement. Reiki is not just about healing, it is a philosophy of balancing life forces, and it is a continuing life practice both for the practitioner and those who receive its benefits.

What is Kudalini?

Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning coiled. Like a compressed spring it represents potential energy. Again simply put, It is thought of as a coiled snake that is entwined around the spine. It may very well be the source of our ancient caduceus symbol used in medicine. In the yogic traditions this energy is seen as rising up through the main energy centers referred to as chakras. This system incorporates a great many teachings which we encourage those who wish to learn more to spend time researching on their own. It is not necessary to understand everything about Kudalini to become adept at releasing and directing its power. This energy in most individuals remains latent as it is either dampened by physical limits that are endemic to our diet and life style or it is released in ineffective ways that dissipate our Life Force. The later may be the results of frustration or anger. It may manifest a sudden and uncontrolled release of this energy. This is why we combine Kundalini with Reiki.

What is Kundalini Reiki?

Kundalini may be visualized as a horse. If for any reason the thought of horses bothers you then perhaps visualize instead an ox, or a race car, it does not matter the principal is the same. Anyway, horses come in many types and condition. Let us suppose for this discussion that there is a great stallion, bristling and full of primitive potential which represents our vital energy. Our form of Reiki may be seen as a highly skilled horse trainer who skillfully manages and directs the powerful energy of the horse. Such a wise trainer may be a small woman sitting on top of a huge stallion but through knowledge and skill the powerful beast is controlled to take her swiftly to her destination.

Is Kundalini Reiki going to turn you into a great horse trainer? No, at least not at first, not until you receive the third empowerment, even then this is a power that is granted from above through a series of masters, as all true power is bestowed from above and is not owned nor is it to be boasted about. The horse trainer, so to speak, will be sent to you to train your horse and begin teaching you how to ride. That is what an empowerment is, a subtle training of your spiritual energy system to allow you to control and release the Life Force within. It is done through the power of the spirit and does not require physical contact but many feel the effects in physical ways. This empowerment will begin a process where the chakras and energy channels and body organs will be cleansed of stagnant energy. Kundalini Reiki 1 is the equivalent of the USUI Reiki 1-2-3 attunements.

Where did Kundalini Reiki come from?

Kundalini Reiki was received by Ole Gabrielsen, a master of meditation who resides in Denmark, as channeled from his spiritual teacher the Ascended Master Kuthumi. We are not going to discuss here the whole subject of theosophy but we will simply include his instructions with your training material. It is enough to say that it was the express purpose of his teacher to expand the states of Universal Consciousness, to make Peace, Light, and Love an immediate possibility.

Kundalini Reiki safely and calmly awakens the Kudalini energy that resides within. There are no negative side effects that can cause sudden uncontrolled releases of energy as the whole process is under the beneficent sovereign control of the chain of masters. The energy channels will be gently opened from the Base chakra to the Crown chakra preventing build up and sudden release of energy. This may help those who in the past have suffered the effects of wrongly awakened Kundalini energy. It is more like being awakened in the morning with the sound of birds chirping and perhaps the smell of your favorite breakfast as opposed to a noisy alarm clock.

The first attunement opens the healing channels to facilitate the flow of Reiki energy. The main energy channels, all the chakras except the root chakra are cleared of stagnant chi and made supple to accommodate greater energy flow preparing the way for Kundalini Reiki 2 attunement. The heart chakra is broadened and the energy channels from the Crown Chakra to the hands are opened to allow Reiki energy to flow.

Directing Vitalizing Energy

Reiki Energy may be done by the laying on of hands or remotely over a long distance. The former may be done by simply laying your hands on their shoulders. Clear your mind for a bit and think “Reiki”. Just let the energy flow through you. There is nothing you have to do. The vitalizing energy will just flow. Relax, enjoy the experience.

In about 3-5 minutes you will just feel the energy stop or you may begin to feel a little drained. That is a sign that the transfer of energy is complete. The vital energy will continue to work its wisdom on the recipient flowing to wherever it is needed.

In long distant energy work form a strong intention within your mind by visualizing the person or the name of the person you are sending the Reiki energy to in the palm of your hand. Then put your palms together as in prayer. Clear your mind for a little while and just say to yourself “Reiki” to start the energy flowing. Again after 3-5 minutes you may feel the energy stop or feel a little drained.

A variation of this may be used to clean negative energies from a room or house. Instead of visualizing a person just visualize the room or house.

The same technique is used to balance and increase the vital energy within yourself. Do this often especially at the beginning. It is excellent practice and will fully prepare you for Kundalini Reiki 2 attunement.

The Potential of a Vessel

The transitional stage of a seeker is like the chrysalis stage of a butterfly, the last repose before the glory and ascendance to full maturity. The external appearance tells little of the great potential that lays hidden.

What is that potential?

It is the potential of a vessel, which is the ability to accept, contain and distribute God’s Love. The Holy Spirit trickles deep within the aspirant: As a small stream etches a path into rock, the Spirit of God begins to increase the aspirant’s capacity to contain divine energy. The divine energy of any sacrament is the Love of God made manifest by the outpouring of evolutionary gifts of the spirit.

The Holistic Basis of Life

The greatest and perhaps most secret blessing comes as a sacred birthright to every living creature from the least to the greatest without limitation. The degree to which anyone receives this ultimate treasure is entirely dependent on their willingness to abide by the natural contract that binds all spirits of flesh. The Real Value of Prayer

Since our Father already knows the murmurings of our hearts before we pray we can assume that the real value of prayer is in the commitments we make during our conversation with our Lord. Our participation in this conversation elevates us through His Grace, as we trust in His Power and demonstrate our trustworthiness through our devotion. When we ask for favor, we also commit ourselves to strive to be found worthy for such favor. Then too, the light we receive through meditation comes with an obligation.
