Below is an excerpt from America’s favourite & legendary motivational author & speaker, Zig Ziglar, & his new book, “Born to Win! Find Your Success Code.”

Zig says:

Here’s a short list of the characteristics of what I believe success isn’t and what I believe success is. Let’s start with what success is.

What Success Is:
1. Success is knowing that you did a great job when you close the door to your office at the end of each workday and head for home.
2. Success is having a home and people to love who love you in return.
3. Success is having the financial security to meet your obligations each month and the knowledge that you have provided that security for your family in the event of your demise.
4. Success is having the kind of faith that lets you know where to turn when there seems to be no place to turn.
5. Success is having an interest or hobby that gives you joy and peace.
6. Success is knowing who you are, and Whose you are.
7. Success is taking good care of you and waking up healthy each day.
8. Success is slipping under the covers at the end of the day and realizing with gratitude that, “It just doesn’t get much better than this!”

Thanks Zig! It goes to show that the world, in general, has a warped view of success. I don’t know about you, but I’m guilty of some of the items listed in “What Success Isn’t”.

But this is all useless information & advice if I don’t apply it to my life.

I am the only one who change the person in the mirror.

Sometimes we prune plants/trees around our garden. Sometimes I do it to keep our garden looking tidy, other times it’s the right season to do it.

Pruning involves cutting off dead branches, as well as cutting back living branches. Not only can pruning shape something, but it stimulates growth.

Whatever circumstance you are going through right now, know that it hasn’t happened to you, but it’s happened FOR you. It’s pruning you. It’s shaping you. It’s cutting off dead stuff that’s holding you back from your best life, & it’s cutting certain things back to stimulate growth so you will bear much fruit…or produce sweet smelling roses..

Your best days are closer than you think.

If I shoot a bow & arrow, or a slingshot, it would require me to pull back before letting go to let the penetrating object propel forward with speed, force & tenacity.

If I was to jump off a platform or a set of stairs, or if I was competing in a long jump competition, for me to obtain significant distance, I must go back a ways so that I have ample opportunity to run, the further I go back, the more run I get in, & the longer the run, the further I go.

Sometimes we need to go backwards first, so we can move forwards. The further our circumstances pull us back, eventually the further we will be thrust forward to our destiny.

So…if circumstances are pulling you back right now, know that very soon you are about to be thrust forward with speed, force & tenacity, into a whole ‘nutha level.
