First Day of Kindergarten!!!!!!

2014-08-28T12:15:00.000-07:00

My Big Boy, first day of Kindergarten. August 28, 2014!

He's got his game face on!

He says ; "I'm ready, bring on school!"

He totally posed this!

This kid has got some major charachter. I love him so much!

Look how big my baby has gotten since he was 8 months old, now almost 6 years old!

Walking to School.

Walking to School with Daddy his 1st day of school today.

In line for Kindergarten his 1st day of school!

He's so excited!

Mommy with Christopher as he gets ready to go into his Kindergarten class!

Christopher is 6 on September 3rd. I just dropped him off at Kindergarten at the Elementary School on our Street. I cannot believe how excited he is! I didn't cry, and he didn't cry. Neither did his Dad, who was there dropping him off with me. Christopher is going to be so amazing today and the rest of this year! He tested an 80 out of 102 on his Pre- Assessment and he's only supposed to get a 28 to start Kindergarten. Cognitively, he probably could be in 1st Grade. I'm very proud of him for learning to read so well with Mommy and Daddy, reading Lego Star Wars and The Lego Movie Books lately. He loves Math and Science and building things with Legos and Blocks. My son is so intelligent and he will be fantastic all this year! I love you my baby boy! Have a great day!

Yesterday he said; "Mom who came first?" "Supergirl, Batman, Superman, or Catwoman?" I don't know I said. I think Dad might though. Christopher says; " I think Supergirl came first because she's Superman's Sister." Haha. It was a silly conversation.

He chose to wear his Captain America outfit today. I tried to dress him up- but he didn't want to dress up.

Christopher is 4 and loving Preschool.
He is getting used to Daddy at home.
Robert cleaned my kitchen spotless today and was able to do lots of laundry and most of the items on my honey-do list.:)
Robert is working hard in school to try to get into the Master's Program for Information Systems. The Prereqs are brutal, as far as Business Statistics that he is in right now.
He has finals next week. This week we are trying to get a tree and get it up with the decorations and all of the Christmas stuff up.

At Orientation Today Christopher shared his Spiderman Folder and how Spiderman can open and close his webs with his hands. He also shared his Francesco Bernolli car from Cars. When I asked him what country his car was from he said, "Cars Land!" That works!" said all the parents and teachers!

Other kids were talking about their cars, folders and dolls. Christopher is not shy. When one child could not name who was on his folder Christopher goes; "That's a Mariocart folder with: Mario, Luigi and Bowser on it!"

Teacher: "Can anyone tell me what color this bean bag is?"
Christopher: "Red!!!! It's Red!"
Mommy and Teachers "Yes, it's red great job Christopher!"

When it was time for him to share who came with him today that loves him;me his mom, he said; "Mommy!" But her name is Chelsea Burbidge Merkley

I love my smart boy!

His teachers said he was answering all the questions and behaving well! He was so outgoing and participating in the activities! I know he's going to love school!
It starts next week!

Love, Chelsea

Growing Up

2012-08-25T09:27:00.000-07:00

Climbing on the rocks near Daybreak Lake

My big boy! He's almost 4!

Laughing and hiding his face because I asked him to smile.

I told him not to look at me, so he did.
I love this picture.

"Hey Mommy, I stole your pennies they're on my thingy, you don't know how this timer goes! There's lots of your money in there! I stole all your money and I'm going to keep it in here (a spykids safe) forever!" "I will give you some back, if you say please."- Christopher
Boy, kids are fun when they're pretending.

He woke up this morning and exclaimed, " I growed while I was asleep I'm not 7 lbs and 60 lbs." Honey, you mean you grew in your sleep? "Yeah."
You're 30 pounds, but I'm not exactly sure how tall you are. You probably did grow in your sleep!

August 23-
Christopher is eating a corn dog:

"I need Ketchup and Mustard."Mommy puts her hand to her ear."Please and thank you."That's my boy.

Daddy- Great job going to the potty Christopher, I'm so proud of you!
Christopher- "You did a great job too Daddy, I'm proud of you too!"
Christopher- "Look Mommy, I can Fly!" Jumps off one couch to another couch.
Mommy- You totally can, honey, that's great!
Christopher- "Look Mommy, I can Fly!" Jumps off one couch to another couch.
Mommy- You totally can, honey, that's great!

Okay it's time for you to have quiet time! "My wish is your command princess!" Bouts of laughter. Okay, ready for quiet time? "No, my wish is your command oh Princess!" Does he think he's a Jedi?

August 19- "Look Mom I'm a Princess! Here's my crown!" You're a Prince. "No I'm a Princess." "Mans can be princess too." Okay then.

August 17-
"Popcorn has ammonites living in it! And crabs. You see those, they're Ammonites and shells, and we're eating the Ammonites. The Ammonites get heated in the microwave and then they die. So we can eat them! Electricity!"

"Look Mom it's an enemy!" You mean anemone. "Yeah."

Time to get dressed for the day! You can get your clothes in the basement." But Mommy, it's scary and pooky down there?" Laughs from me. You mean spooky right? "Yeah."

August 16-
‎"Tummy Gummies are not like the juice we find at the Farmer's Market! This one is grape juice and apple juice and pear juice, actually."- Actually is his favorite word

"Uh oh! Those thingies are getting hot for sure!
I want one I want one!"
-My son referring to nuts, after they came out of the oven

Cranky

2012-08-04T20:23:00.000-07:00

Christopher I need you to go to sleep so you won't be cranky and onry tomorrow.

"I will still be cranky and onry tomorrow even if I sleep."

At least he's honest, is what my husband replies to me. True Story.

Hope this made you smile.

Have a great weekend!

Family Adventures

2012-07-27T17:45:00.001-07:00

Last Week we went to Legoland in Carlsbad, California.
We liked their fun Amusement Park and their Water Park.

There were a ton of Legos everywhere.
Lots of stuff was made out of Legos.
They had a Star Wars Legoland which was the coolest miniature little land I've ever seen.

There was a river ride which toured the world with miniature landmarks and miniature bays and cities built by the river.

We drove to Oceanside and back.
We stayed in Vegas for one night on the way there, but got there too late at night and just went to bed.
We stayed in Oceanside, next to the beautiful ocean and a fun Lighthouse and Pier.
I tried their Fish and Chips which I thought were not too bad; although I've never been a fan of fish.
We got to play in the ocean which was really cold and the surf was red, the current was fast and twirly-- so we did not swim but just played in the shallow part of the beach.
Christopher had a ball.

Robert took Christopher to the Zoo today and got some really cute pictures of him.
We took him to the Aquarium soon after so I could see the neat new baby sharks that they have now.
I loved seeing the sharks! Black Tip Reef Shark, Normal Reef Shark, Wedge Ray (otherwise known as Guitarfish), Green Sea Turtle, and Stingrays. I loved seeing the Caymans which look like miniature crocadiles. And taking pictures with Peaches, the mellow Anaconda who is 4 Feet long. We also saw the penguins swim and watched the cute River Otters stretch and yawn while they were all napping. They are so adorable.

Mommy you're not pretty yet!

2012-07-15T17:27:00.002-07:00

Tonight Christopher told me,
"Mommy, you need to put this lipstick and bracelet on so you can be pretty!"

Mommy:" But, I'm already Pretty!"

Christopher: "No Mommy- not yet, you have to put this bracelet on and this lipstick on, so you can be pretty."

And I cringed and laughed at the same time.

Christopher was pretending to be a play talk show host. He came up and asked me, "What do you do?"
I said, "I'm a Mom and a wife and I have a little boy who's 3 who has a big imagination.
I like to write on the computer like I'm doing right now.
What do you do Christopher?"

Christopher: "I do what you do!"
We kept asking one another the same questions; What do you do Mommy and what do you do Christopher?
He kept saying, "I do what you do!"
And I replied, "You do what I do?" It was pretty much the coolest talk show game ever.

This afternoon our son was being so stubborn that he had a fit that lasted about an hour.
Why? Because he did not want to let us get him dressed, or help him get ready for church.
He wanted to just run around free as a bird apparently, poor boy was so upset and his face
turned red from throwing such a tantrum.
We were about an hour and half late to church.

Although, my friend Allie has a little boy his same age that wanted to wear his Batman Halloween Costume to church today and he was throwing a fit this morning too. Got to love 3 year old boys.

I have also noticed that as the weather has gotten cooler and more rainy and overcast; this sometimes has an affect on children's moods. They become more easily irritated and sad or lethargic in some cases.

I watched "The Magic School Bus" for a little bit with my son today. We checked it out at the library earlier this week.
It's such a throw-back to my childhood. I love it! We learned about the Water Cycle today.
We started to watch one about floating and sinking and how to make objects that float start to sink.
But, it had too many references to an imaginary Seamonster that startled my son, so we did not watch more than 5 minutes of this episode; because it scared him. I explained to him it was an imaginary story that someone made up and Sea Monsters are not real. He was still frightened. I consoled him and we had dinner.

Have a great Sunday.

March 4, 2012: Today my lil guy said, "Mommy- if you take my sister's alarm clock, my army men and all my toys away I will be sad, mad and cranky! So don't do that!" *demanding hands on hips and authoritarian attitude* I have no idea where he got those ideas from!

February 20, 2012: Christopher- "Grandma Cheryl, do you want to take me on a kissing date?"
Grandma- "Grandpa Joe would get jealous!"

Have a great Monday.

Blatant Defiance

2012-03-01T20:22:00.000-08:00

It's 9:11 PM and today has been the
"Day from Haites", regarding Christopher.
He fought me kicking and screaming this morning
and refused to get ready for the day. He would not
pick a shirt, pants & really was belligerent about
putting his socks, shors and coat on.
Then in the car, he screamed that his shoes weren't on!

When I told him it was time for him to go to bed in 10 minutes;
he said, "No, it's time for you to go to bed in 10 minutes!"
Then at 9 pm he broke my Anniversary gift to Robert a frw years ago
A framed Picture of our wedding! He kicked the frame when his Dad was
trying to take him to bed! It's been a real stressful Day!
Sorry for the vent session.
Thanks for reading.

December Quotes

2011-12-29T17:04:00.000-08:00

December 26;

Mommy; "We got you fizzy bubbles!"

Christopher; "Because me was good, I was a good boy!"

Mommy; "Yes you were a good boy! Well... most of the time!"

Christopher; "Sometimes me's good, and sometimes me's bad!"

Mommy; "Yes, that's true!"

December 29;

My son's waking words "Oh you got my Pirate's out!"

December 23;

My son just said " I forgot my boy toy!" i laughed so hard! My belly hurts from gut busting laughs!

Well, I used that phrase yesterday. Grandma & Grandpa Merkley ( Robert' Parents) got him a Happy Meal the other day. He got a "toy for a girl" with it and I told Robert to get him a "boy toy!" My mistake! "Daddy found my boy toy, look it's my boy toy!" gosh I'm really laughing hard!

December 22;

"Mommy we got you the Harry Potter movie!"

The little rat! Daddy was going to make it a surprise! But I love my son anyway!

December 20;

I'm lying in bed, my sweet boy comes in and lies down and brings his Teddy Bear.

He says he wants to lie down. Sometimes being a mommy is so sweet.

December 11;

"Mommy you can have the rest of my snack it will feel you better! It will help you feel better! It has energy in it!" My stomach hurts bad still, but him being so sweet lifts my spirit.

My son is Juvenile

2011-12-14T13:44:00.000-08:00

The last few days my son has been saying some pretty crazy things.

I thought I'd share some with you.

Yesterday we were making Gingerbread Houses at a Family party.

He said; "I'm pooing." "I'm pooing this on." I was like what?
He was trying to say he was putting this on, (the candy on the Gingerbread House Roof).

For the past few months Robert has been singing the main 2 lines of "Whoop There it is" and "Boom Shuck a Lucka"to try to be funny and make Christopher laugh. I told him I really dislike those songs and they are not
good songs. That he should be careful what he says or sings to a 3 year old because it will come back to him.
Well, turns out I was right!
This morning Christopher sings (more like shouts); "Poop Shuck a Lucka and SMACK YOUR BUTT!" And then smacks his bum. Needless to say I was shocked! I gave my husband the "I told you so!" look and disciplined my child. He should not be saying potty mouth things like that or behaving that way!
Needless to say, they were both in trouble!

On our way to the Aquarium today my son was being very loud in the car as I was driving.
I chimed in; "Christopher, if you be quiet you can hear yourself think!"
Christopher's reply; " Why would you tell me to talk to myself in my head?"
After I laughed I said; "Because it would help Mommy drive safe!"

Christopher; "Why is the Cop here?" We were at Noodles eating lunch.
"Is he giving someone a ticket? Is someone in trouble?"
Mommy; "No, honey, he has to eat lunch too!"

Hope these make you snicker like they did me!

Happy Holidays, happy Thursday & I hope you are all getting ready for Christmas,
New Year's and all other Holidays your
Family Celebrates!

I want China!

2011-12-07T18:42:00.000-08:00

"I'm not splashing with my hands, I'm splashing with my body!" He said this yesterday after his Dad told him no splashing in the tub.

"I want China! I want Chinahse! Pasgetti!" He wanted Lo Mein noodles. He doesn't eat the chicken, but loves the noodles and sometimes fancies a pork eggroll. He asks for China and Chinahse when he wants Chinese. It's quite funny.

"There's Mommy, Daddy and there's me!" Pointing at a slideshow of pictures I made of our family.

"Mommy, Mommy you're home! I missed you!" He shouted as I came home from school.

"My name is Woody and I'm a Cowboy, Rex's tail is a gun! *pchoo pchoo* " He said this while wearing his cowboy hat with a star on it and pretending his toy Rex is a gun.

Hope you are all having a great Season!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, and whatever else you celebrate!

Thanks for reading!

Daddy's Making China!

2011-11-30T17:50:00.000-08:00

Yesterday when I talked to my son he said; "Daddy's making China!" I had to laugh! I thought of China the Contintent, not China the dish. He was actually saying he wanted Chinese. Silly boy!

Today when he asked; "How many of the same things do you have on your phone?" I had to think for a minute. Shazam and Facebook are both light blue. So, everytime I Shazam a song, or go to Facebook, my son was thinking, are you just doing the same thing over again?

While I was on Facebook and he asked what I was doing, I said; "I'm on Facebook." He replied;
"I like SPACEBOOK!" Hilarious!

A commercial came on in the car today. He said, "I want singing!" I wonder where he learned that?
I really don't prefer talking on the radio unless it's something that is uplifting or intriguing to me! I love my son!

"Mommy I want that store! The yellow and red one!" I can't see it honey I'm driving.
"I want to go to the store with the Jingle Bells on it!" The Jingle Bells are in the song, they are instruments, it is not a place.
"I want to see the instruments!"
Well, you are going to hear me sing and there will be Jingle Bells and other instruments playing on Saturday!
"But, I want to sing with you!"
I love you honey, I don't think you know the words dear.

I love how much like me he is at times!

Yesterday;

Can I play Mario? I love you so much Daddy!? PWEAAAASE? PWEAASE?
Can I play Zelda? You are the best Daddy in the whole wide world!!!!!! PWEAAAASE?
Daddy (on both occasions) No, I don't think so.
Whining and crying ensues. I love how my son thinks he can get anything when he tries to manipulate us.
It doesn't work kid. He'll get it sometime!!!!

Hope you all had a great Holiday! We are in the Christmas mood in our home!
If anyone knows where to find a cute advent Calendar PRONTO I'd love to know!
