In the Studio

We created this session mostly in my studio (with a few of the last images at a gorgeous space in downtown Chippewa Falls), leaning into a mix of clean black-and-white portraits and a few rich pops of color. The goal was to balance strength and softness — capturing both the grounded, truth-telling side of Jondrea and the radiant, unapologetic energy she brings to her work.

Each frame was about connection. No props, no distractions — just confidence, expression, and light. We wanted the images to feel as real as the transformation she helps her clients achieve.

A Brand Built on Empowerment

Through Elevated Women, Jondrea works with professional women who feel disconnected from themselves — women who have spent years pouring into others and are finally ready to reconnect with who they truly are. She helps them move past guilt and self-doubt into confidence, clarity, and freedom.

Her approach is powerful: blending coaching, HypnoBreathwork®, and strategy that moves beyond surface-level change. Every detail of this session — from the lighting to the tones — was designed to mirror that transformation.

The Final Look

The result? A gallery that feels timeless yet modern, strong yet approachable.

Understanding the Brand

Located in Eau Claire, WI (with branch locations in River Falls and Aurora, CO) the firm offers full architectural services across commercial, retail, education, healthcare, and multi-family sectors. Their philosophy hinges on listening, collaborating, and delivering results that are not only visually striking but functionally excellent. From master site planning to space programming and property condition assessments, every service ties back to creating meaningful spaces.

What I Saw and Captured

During the brand story shoot, I focused on three main visual themes that aligned with RVA’s identity:

1. Authenticity of the Team
   For their headshots, we opted for portraits that reflect approachability and professionalism—architects who are creators and partners. I encouraged natural poses, genuine expressions, and subtle details (tools of the trade, plans in hand, collaborative moments) to communicate that they are not just designers but deeply engaged partners with their clients.
2. Process in Action
   To illustrate their “real partnerships” motto, I photographed candid, in-office and on-site moments: team review sessions, blueprint discussions, field visits—capturing the human side of architecture. These images tell the story of a firm that doesn’t work for clients, but with them.
3. Built Environment & Impact
   RVA clearly emphasizes “lasting impact” through the projects they deliver. We included images of finished work—commercial buildings, education facilities, multi-family housing—to showcase the breadth and depth of their portfolio. Their site in Eau Claire, for example, demonstrates how they orient buildings, integrate function and aesthetic, and respond to client goals.

Why This Matters

In a field crowded with firms, brands that focus merely on aesthetics can feel interchangeable. RVA’s differentiator is their relational approach—taking clients through a discovery phase, understanding operational needs, and evolving design accordingly. I could feel that in every handshake, every meeting we photographed. Their website reinforces that mission: “We design relationships.”

When you hire a photographer to tell your brand story, you want the visuals and the undercurrent of your mission to align. For RVA, that meant creating images that feel clean and polished, but also warm, collaborative, and grounded. Their leadership team portraits reflect that: confident but approachable, expert yet human. The project imagery echoes their work ethos: thoughtful site-planning, service-driven execution, and lasting architecture.

How These Assets Will Be Used

These photography assets serve multiple purposes:

• Marketing materials: Website updates, brochure spreads, and proposal decks will benefit from the updated headshots and process imagery.
• Social & digital presence: Authentic team images and on-site process shots make strong content for LinkedIn, Instagram, and blog features.
• Internal culture reinforcement: High-quality visuals help reinforce the team’s sense of identity and mission, both externally and internally.

Final Thoughts

Working with River Valley Architects reminded me of the power of brand photography when it’s rooted in authentic story. The firm already had a strong identity; my role was to align the visuals with their story so their brand could feel real, tangible, and purposeful.

With a bright & cheerful wardrobe, a touch of vintage and a historic Victorian tucked into Eau Claire we brought Sekaidah’s brand photos to life. While most of a realtors marketing is word-of-mouth Sekaidah is hoping to also share her photos via mailings and on social media. While she doesn’t provide a physical product, she does provide excellent customer service and an easy transaction – hoping to take some burden off of her clients chest when it comes to real estate negotiation and paperwork.

This was such a fun session for me because with such an amazing location & Sekaidah’s fun wardrobe choices we were really able to capture some photos that make Sekaidah stand out. Gone are the cookie cutter Pinterest images – these exude warmth & so much of Sekaidah’s amazing personality. I hope you have fun scrolling through this session! With an eye for all things creative I knew Aubre would put a lot of thought and effort into her brand photos. We actually set aside three days for her initial collection to ensure we could get enough content for her first round of photos. We started the brand & website designer brand photos for Artisan Kind with a session at the CJP Studio in Bloomer. Aubre brought in all sorts of amazing props to make the studio her own. From there we planned Aubre’s next session at her home with her husband and two cats to include little pieces of the things that she loves – like gardening & enjoying time on the patio with family. Last we finished up at the CJP Studio again for some more bright & summery photos.

We live in a visual world and it’s important to make a good impression right away. When you use photos that look authentic, you make it that much easier for people to trust you. So, how do you ensure you’re making the most of this opportunity?

Connect with your photographer
When you work with a photographer you love and connect with, your images automatically turn out better. Find a photographer whose work inspires and excites you. Scroll through their online portfolio and social media feed to get an idea of what they’re capable of and if it suits your personal style. Don’t forget to meet with them in person too as this will tell you a lot about whether you connect or not. At the end of the day, you want to feel completely comfortable in front of your photographer.

Communicate what you want
A photographer can’t give you the results you want if they don’t know what you want. Clearly communicating your ideas to your photographer is essential. Provide them with details on the first impression and message you want to portray. Share your ideas and examples with them. They may even be able to give you suggestions you haven’t thought about yet.

Think carefully about your location
Your location will help set the tone for the shoot, so choose carefully. There are so many options to choose from that go beyond a basic studio setting. Just make sure that your photographer has actual experience with the setting you have in mind.

Plan your outfit, hair and makeup
Don’t leave your outfits, hair and makeup arrangements to the last minute. If possible, get a professional to assist you so that you look your best. In fact, your photographer may even be able to give you a few suggestions. The outfit you choose will also play a major role in the message you send when people see your photos, so think twice about what you want to wear. Better yet, have a few options available. Keep in mind that you want to be able to use these photos for a few years, so rather opt for a timeless look. Planning is the key underlying factor in making the most of your personal branding photoshoot. Don’t be scared to ask your photographer for additional guidance too.
