We've Learned from our Mistakes

I was about to write the third step on how to Pay off debts since me and my husband promised that we will share everything we've learned in any way possible. After all the bad things happened to us in the past it's a way of giving back (kahit sa blog lang) so that they will not experience what we've been through. I want people to know that there is hope and there is a big God more than their debts and problems, that they don't need to worry even though they are drowning with debts, been there done that. But before sharing the 3rd step, with a lot of blessings coming our way these past few months I just wanted to share something first.

When that happened to us my interpretation of God's words became different. It became positive, writing some few verses that help us then get through it, that might be useful sa makakabasa.

For I know the plan I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -- Jeremiah 29:11

Eight (8) years ago turning nine (9) this coming August, I still remember because I was about to give birth with my youngest, she is turning nine this coming August. Our life was way, way, lot more different from today miles and miles away if I may say. Thinking how we survived that chaotic part of our lives was still a big mystery to me and my husband. We are drowning with debts, we are living in a one bedroom apartment because the other room need to used as a stock room for my husband business venture. I have three little kids who are still depending on us, no cars, no savings, a lot of post dated checks need to be paid, debtors calling me left and right just to remind us that they need to bank in their check as soon as possible, living in a paycheck to paycheck salary and not even enough to sustain our everyday needs, because our salary was less than the amount of debt we need to pay, cancer afflicted me, operated twice, became a single mother of three in an instant (My husband went overseas) some of the most important people in our lives past away without any signs. It was really a rock bottom life.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. -- Philippians 4:19

Buying something for my children was not on my priority list at that time. I remember one time going back home after office hour, I was thinking of my son and I wanted him to buy a pair of socks. I was with my co-worker walking because we wanted to save our money on transportation, we saw this guy buying used sim card in the market. Oh by the way my husband went overseas after realizing that there is no way we can pay the damage done to us after what happened to our last business and he left everything behind, well what I meant was, he left all the garbage but not his responsibilities. Imagine one room full of garbage? what am I going to do with those garbage? At that time if only I can do magic and turn those garbage into money better isn't, problem solve, but it was not easy. I ask my husband then on the phone, and without blinking and hesitation maybe out of loosing interest to the business he just told me to throw everything and he doesn't wanted to see them again when he comes back (I know those garbage cost a lot but since I am not an Engineer for me they are mere garbage), but God really works in mysterious ways I was able to dispose and benefit from them little did I know that after selling those bunch of sim card I am in front of a vendor buying socks for my son since the next day was the opening or the first day of school and he still needs new pair of socks to wear . Thinking now, those events were meant to happen, because those experiences made us who we are today, it is true that you cannot share unless you have something to share, it gives us more faith and understanding that during those rough times it was the biggest blessing we ever had.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. -- Matthew 11: 28

Why biggest blessing? because my husband and I learned so many things it's a kind of OJT, an expensive on the job training about life, that when you cannot do anything about the situation just close your eyes and take a deep breathe. We learned to depend on Him. We learned to ask for something extraordinary, I even challenge Him (Well God loves to be challenge by the way, just to prove that we are wrong and He is right, that He is more than we ask for), we learned the power of humility which we need in able to survive. It was so amazing that most of our debtors which we didn't run away were so kind they even gave us food sometimes just to survive, they supported us all the way. Because during those times It was really difficult to eat decent meals if all our debtor will ask us to pay them all at one time. I save every bit of my salary and every remittance my husband send me just to pay our monthly dues.

*April 19, 2011 was our freedom day, last payment of the remaining check, free from debts and from that day on we read, we study, we listened to any informative thing then we share as much as possible para ma retain sya. Sabi nga pag nagkamali huwag ng paulit ulit. Now we believe money is not the problem of every person but their pride and attitude.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. -- Psalms 91:11

During those hard times real friends came, those people whom I never imagine I will ask favor from them, sometimes they even have the initiative to lend me money when gas run out, when milk was on their last scoop and diaper was on last piece. (That is why I believed in Angel) God really send the right people to us. Everyday was a miracle for me at that time, every struggle there was an answered prayer and even me I cannot explain how those things, and events happens and those people came out every day. Though according to Bo Sanchez "God stands by his friends. I became more faithful to him, I've learned the power of tithing, the power of giving more than receiving. Now no regrets with all those events. God really works and walks in mysterious way. We may not know what His plan for us today, but rest assured that He will never leave us nor forsake us. And those angels they remained loyal to us, and it didn't end there because more angels are keep on coming.

Liberal versus Traditional

While browsing Facebook some post got me motivated to share my thoughts about being liberal or traditional. Let me start this writing by defining these two words. LIBERAL means willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own, open to new ideas, while TRADITIONAL define as an existing in or as part of a long established tradition; habitually done, used or found.

Writing this is just base on my own personal opinion, but also based on my own personal experiences so reading this try not to be judgmental. For they say experience is still the best teacher in life if you really wanted to succeed and find true happiness. A person can be highly and academically intellectual in school but ignorant, unhappy and foolish in real life. Socrates believed that there were different kinds of knowledge, important and trivial. He acknowledges that most of us know many "trivial" things. He states that craftsman possesses important knowledge, the practice of his craft, but this is important only to himself not to others. But this is not what Socrates is referring to, He is referring to the most important of all knowledge and that is "how best to live". He put forward as fact or as basis of arguments and that is not easily answered, and most people live in shameful ignorance regarding matters of ethics and morals.

Now let us go deeper and take a look at the broad side of which of the two can help us go through in life. I am not an expert I am just trying to share something that my children might be able to read in the future. I cannot say that I am too traditional because I believed that there are some ways or some few things in the past that needs to be buried behind.

For example in my family we home school our children, we encourage them to accept the fact that mistake and failure are two normal thing that they need to embrace, that all they need to do is just think of the ways how to go through it and what to do if they commit mistakes or if they fail. No one taught us about how to face failure but in reality failure is part of life, you cannot appreciate success if you don't know what failure is all about. We home school them not because they have problems or because we cannot afford sending them to regular school. We believed in the saying that if we think education is expensive try ignorance. We home school them because we believed that they need to embrace changes just like how we embrace TELEVISION, COMPUTER AND TECHNOLOGY that they need to realize that improvement is parallel to changes. How a person be able to improve if his doing the same thing over and over again and wanting different result, taking the same road and wanting different destination that is totally foolish.

We don't have anything against traditional school because without it we didn't able to know the basic, but we believed that there are more than the world can offer, most people know this specially those who started living their dreams after they realize finishing first in school is not the end result of being successful, that life is a race of reality of everyday event happening in our lives not a destination that everyone is expecting no finish. That is why no one can define us because of our mistakes or because of our decision we make. In reality, we are the one doing our destiny, our happiness.

Next we teach our children the importance of money and relationship, Money is not the main thing in our family because if it is, my children are all wearing NIKE, playing the IPAD, having all this luxurious thing that money can buy then buried ourselves in debt, but it isn't, because we believe that literacy is better than ignorance, we believe in love, integrity, discipline and honesty. Actually according to survey this people are not really rich because truly rich people believe that financial independence is more important than displaying high social status. That is why we believe that we need to teach our next generation the importance of how to be financially literate or else the cycle will go on and on and we don't want that to happen. We wanted our children that at the end of the day when we don't have all the time and energy to help people they will be there to continue what we have started with their time, energy and resources, because we also believe if we can give more than our time why not maximize the thing if it is possible.

Being traditional is good but there are also pros and cons. For example in a family, the male is the sole responsible for taking care of the families economic needs that is good because the wife has all the time to take care her children but with our modern world we cannot consider these things. Unexpected things might happen and we as a wife may not be ready yet same goes with our children because they might be getting used to it, believing having somebody around all the time to pick up their pieces. In traditional environment parents and children relationship are strong and stable but wait till both parents and children feel the burnout. As children are growing we as a parent must learn how to let go and we cannot just do this if from the start we didn't train our selves that our children is not our possession, for according to Kahlil Gibran a prophet:

"Our children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

There is only one goal I believe that every human individual wanted in their lives and that is to be HAPPY. If being traditional makes you happy be it, and if being liberal makes your life better just go on and makes your life better and always remember this...

Do small things with great Love

It's been a while since I never had the luxury of time to revisit this blog because of some unnecessary things that need to be attended. Became busy with all the errand, traveling back and forth, children had a very busy students activity / convention and so on and so forth. It's a long line of list of becoming busy. That sometimes as a mother and a wife I forget how to enjoy life in small way.

That sometimes I really had this in mind.

Am I really busy?

If God has given all of us the same time how come others have different life compare to mine?

If I am doing the right things how come other still feels bad about me?

Actually upon contemplating and being quiet for an hour everyday I've realize there are logical explanation to all of my questions. Sometimes we really need time to be alone, to be with ourselves, to know thyself. Because according to Socrates Wisdom begin with wonders.

Why are we so busy? Sometimes we are so busy because that is what the society dictates us. That being productive entails spending more time at work or to the things that we are doing as of the moment. We think we must work harder and longer than the majority of us to be considered as someone who is successful, we squeeze more time into our day than other people. Because the society's criterion of being a successful people is that, they should have this and that, people must be doing these and those. But it's not. I believe successful people are those who are happy regardless of their situation they are in, they are satisfied with what they have.

I believe careless individual are more successful and happy compare to the majority of the people who are trying to fit in a society. Those who doesn't even care what future lies ahead, I believe successful people know how to live one day at a time. Successful people doesn't allow to control them by people, things and their circumstances and their past.

This is how John Wooden define success

Success is a peace of mind, which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

If God gave us the same number of time how come others have different life?

Have we ever evaluate our selves lately? There have been times in my life when I believe I will be happy if I have all of the things that I thought makes me happy. That I need to be busy to be able to get those things. That my happiness revolved around how busy I am, I was trying to prove myself that I was valuable. If I was busy, I was creating the possibility of a better life in the future. But being busy didn't make me feel happy, but it only created the illusions that someday, somehow I can finally slowdown and be free. But how can I achieve that free time if I am doing what the society dictates, doing things just the same everyday.

According to Albert Einsten "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results"

If you are doing the same thing as what the society impose. Don't wait for that free time for you to achieve and enjoy, because it's not going to happen anyway.

If you Don't like something, change it. If you cannot change it change your attitude. Don't complain.

Sometimes we people have the ability to look at the negative side of things, we tend to blame people and circumstances. Then we started to feel bad and not happy until such time that everything will be interconnected with our lives. Happy and successful people does not allow to be eaten up by the society, they are trying their best to be different and that is how they become happy and successful. They live their lives differently.

This is the hardest part. As I had been into two different scenario but have the same experiences lately. I've learned to ask my self. Why we feel bad when people say something inappropriate about us. Why we are so affected when we didn't pass the criteria of the society and the people around us. Is it because we have the tendency of trying to please everyone? Or it is normal because God gave us the ability to feel and to love. Mastering the art of not taking life too seriously and believing that we can change our surroundings by changing our ways, is one thing that we should consider if we really wanted to achieve the happiness that we are all looking for. That we cannot please everybody even though we will do all the best of our ability, and same goes as we cannot have everything. We really need to know ourselves better by spending more time alone with our creator. Honestly, the moment I loose my job, I loose those people whom I love so dearly, those things that I kept for so many years which I thought they added more value to me. That is the moment that I gain so much wisdom. Sometimes the noise of our surroundings, the applause of a job well done, the stress of an upcoming events we forgot to consider that relationship is far greater than what the world can offer. That at the end of the day we really need to ask ourselves so seriously, if whom we are really be accountable? I believe if our intention is true and sincere there is nothing to feel bad about other people and our circumstances. If we make sure that what we are doing are really coming from the heart. Because it will definitely show whether we like it or not. It's a life style, it's a habit.

Home Run

Movie time! my husband and I usually have this movie time specially when kids are already in bed sleeping and we are in the mood to share our "we time" together. Last night since we felt so tired because our weekend schedule was extremely extraordinary we decided to watched movie together since we are not doing it for quite sometime maybe because we became so busy this past few months.

At the start of the movie someone send message on Kakao telling us to read Isaiah chapter sixty (60) I am not really a Bible reader because growing up, reading Bible was not part of our home environment. Bible reading was merely a part of force implementation I may say at school so I never enjoy reading the Bible at all. Since movie was about to start I just told my self that, okey I will check on it later or if not, tomorrow. Because sometimes I fell a sleep in the middle of the movie.

The movie was the usual story about a pro baseball player with a substance abuse problem, forced to rehab in his hometown because there was a 12 week program in their church that according to his manager was quite effective. But the movie was about finding new hope, he gets honest about his checkered past, and takes on coaching duties after his brother got into an accident because of his careless driving. This movie was highly recommended if you want to change your life :)

In the middle of the movie my husband and I are both sobbing, of course he will not let me notice it but watching this movie make us realized that our life is not a product of our past. This movie was so timely with what is happening in our lives now, how the Lord change and still changing us both. We both came in a family that I can say the normal one. Me on my part, I saw a lot of misunderstanding, fighting about money, and personal issues. My mom used to beat us her children with something that she can pick up every time her anger arises, insult was the usual words every time she has problem with money, with my father, with her relatives.

I kept grudges specially on her even though she loves me more than my siblings, since I am the youngest of the brood. As I became older I didn't notice that those feelings files up in my emotions, that the reasons why I wanted to satisfy her is not because I love her or because I am an obedient daughter but because I am afraid of her anger, I am afraid that she might hit me even though I am already grown up, since I saw what she and my sisters had been through in the past, I don't want to disappoint her. Growing up I followed every detailed that she wants me to be.

Time went by and the Lord was really true to his promises.

Matthew 10:37-39

37."Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

When my mother left me, after a year or two I realized that she was not her that I really wanted. I was nearly crazy and rebellious when she left me, by then I was old enough to destruct my self. Failed relationship after another looking for someone to take care of me the way she took care of me. Just like my mother it was music to my ear every time I said bad words and insult other people and heard insult from them in return, but God really knows what our heart desire. Carrying my own cross she sent a lot of angels along the way, that every time I stumbled down someone was there to pick me up. It is true that just honor the Lord and definitely the right people will find you. I got tired running around and He sent his most trusted angel. I called her "Nanay". She took me in her wings without hesitation. I thought it was the beginning of something else but cycle began to roll. I had my first victim, my son. Just like my mother I love him but I am not fond of taking care of him so Nanay was the one who took care of him. What I hate about my mother I was doing it with my son. I beat him, insult him and I got angry without any reasons at times. But I never heard anything from the angel that he sent to look after me and my son.

That went on until my mother came back and be with us again. My life became chaotic again though my mother began to slow down and became more caring to us and her grandchildren. But this time I am already struggling with my past. I am afraid that my son will see how my mother treated me and how I treat her in return and he will do the same thing to me when I grow old. That every time I beat my son and my mother will be in the middle I always told her "you used to do that to us isn't". I told her intentionally because I wanted her to feel bad, that unconsciously that is already some sort of revenge. That every time I always bring back the past, that every time I beat my son and she was there to witness, I am already hurting her so badly until she left me again and be with my sister again. I am still longing for her but I know I am not yet ready to face her, that I still need God to heal me, to forget all about the past.

Isaiah 43:18

18 “Forget the former things;do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing!Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

It is true that our past doesn't define our future, that our life is not a product of our surroundings that we can create our own destiny if we want to, but not on our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding

I am now on the process of facing my past, I already pass the initial steps, I am trying to control my anger specially with my eldest son whom I love so dearly because I know he is also God's angel when I had him. I am fully aware now that my mother had her own past issues that need to attend and I began to understand her more and I am praying for her everyday. It is true that when the Lord calls you, you cannot say no. He will used your past hurt and mistakes to understand other people why they reacted that way. I know I am still a work in progress, I am still hurting inside and do some sins sometimes, I still got angry at times, I am not writing this because I wanted to be praise, I don't want to please people now, I don't care what they will say or how they will going to treat me because I already understand better now. I just wanted to share that it is not yet too late. That God loves us regardless of our past circumstances and experiences, that his favor upon us is unlimited, that He has always time for us, that He is just there waiting for us. To love Him with all our heart because He loves us first, long time ago.

Isaiah 60:19-20

The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light and your days of sorrow will end.

Don't Jeopardize Relationships over Money

What do you think is the difference between wicked and righteous? Last time I did some posting about how to pay off debts, and what are the steps because I know, one way to have peace of mind is to be financially free and another way to have peace is to be debt free. Let us all admit that no one doesn't want to be financially stable. Yes money cannot buy happiness but it can give you peace of mind thinking that tomorrow you have something to give to those people who comes to you because they are really financially in need. According to Psalm 37:21--The Wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives. My parents taught me a lot of misconception about life most specially in terms of money. I am not blaming them because they didn't came from a rich family like the Ayala and the Zobel, or the Cojuangco and the Aquinos.

My parents both came from a humble beginnings. Though according to my mother, my father's family own a mango farm in their province and my grandfather on my father side was a well known educator in their town because he was a teacher. That is why I am still thankful that my parents value education more than anything else in this world. But one thing they didn't educate me is in term of financial literacy. Now I am trying my best to teach my children how to be financially independent at an early age, to be content in what they have, to be frugal and value life and relationship more than anything in this world.

I saw a lot of broken relationship because of some financial problems. Me, myself, I experienced it first hand as I enter adulthood and started to be conscious about life and it's meaning, how my mother and father argue because we don't have enough amount of money to pay for our monthly bills. How my husband and I fought because our salary was far behind our debts that we need to pay. But those where the days, I thank God that my parents taught me one important thing, how to value people over money. Yes even though I was so preoccupied and busy achieving my goals on how to be financially independent my feet are still on the ground knowing what is important and what is not. Don't waste the long time friendship over money, the happy memories you had with someone because of trying to escape the reality of debt. Paying of debt was as easy as counting and reading the ABC's. Just don't forget to ask the guidance of the lord to give you so much knowledge, courage and the determination to face the reality. So the second step in paying of your debts is LIST DOWN ALL YOUR DEBTS. Do not disregard or ignore some of your lender because you think that they are close to you, regardless if they are your closest relative, someone whom you think understand you the most, because sometimes we tend to hurt the feelings or ignore those people who are closest to our heart. My mother use to tell me.

"Ang utang ay utang, ang hingi ay hingi, kahit isang
daan pa yan pag hiningi mo kahit di mo na bayaran okey
lang, pero ang piso kahit piso lang yan pag inutang mo ito
ay kailangan mong bayaran".

This means regardless how much the amount of money you borrow as long as you take it for your own use and benefits return the favor and don't throw what is the most important things in life, the people around you. So start listing down all your debts and next time I will tell you how to pay them in a minimal way possible. That you and your lender will both benefit from it.

Contemplating 2012

RECOLLECTION

Twenty twelve (2012) was one of the most challenging year for us. This is the first time that I am trying to contemplate things and events that happened in my life. A lot of things to be thankful for, a lot of challenges that I may say brought more maturity to me. I admire those people who never afraid of failing, those who made mistakes so many times just to learn, just to gain knowledge, those who never afraid of changes they are more admirable than any other human individual in this world. Gone where the days when people usually say to one another don't ever change. Changes are the only inevitable in this world specially now a days with technology, current version easily replaced with new version in just a blink of an eyelashes. Yes I've changed but I never forgot where I came from but I've learned my lesson well that's why. They say you loose some, you gain some, but for me I never loose, it just add up to my life.

SPIRITUAL & FAMILY LIFE

Being a part of this community was one of the best changes we had last year. It's true that in his time, in Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 said For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven, A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck what is planted... I am so grateful for having them, for I know God send good people in our lives for a purpose and that purpose is to lead us for a better life.

FINANCIAL ASPECT

Another changes we had was in terms of our financial literacy. Now I am so sure and confident that we are on the right track. We gained 19.50% of our stocks. I know this is not much but I believe life is not a race it's a journey that we need to savoir each day. It's not about how much money we make but how we save it. With our past mistake I've learned to appreciate things not because I have plenty but because I know how it feels to have nothing. Wealth I believed is not what a person has. It is a state of mind. The people who succeed in life from financial perspective have a positive beliefs about money. I know I ignore some few people in terms of their financial needs but I guess this proverbs serve as one of my guiding principle if I really wanted to help "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" though in every rule there is an exemption we just have to use our right judgement and God's guidance. My line are open you can ask question any time (FB, Email, SMS) and we are willing to share our knowledge in terms of financial aspects. Though I always told few of my friends who are already asking me about it. I am not a financial expert but I am trying to learn every bit of it, we can help each other by exchanging our ideas, after all two heads are better than one. I want to retire with enough, not more than I need when I am old.

PERSONAL LIFE

They said you will learned real friends when you have nothing but failures and problems and when you are on your worst self and attitude but they still accept you for being you. The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just have to find out who's the one worth suffering for. These people embraces me despite of being nasty at time and unpleasant just like most of my old friends whose with me until now. I treasure each and everyone of them (Though sometimes I tend to forgot unintentional of course, sign of old age hehe). I know we still need a lot of time to know each other but last year was maybe the crucial year for us to know more of one another and know the real meaning of friendship and family. For family is not about blood, It's about who is willing to hold your hand when you need it most. I am just one lucky girl because I was lost so many times and every time God sent someone to be with me along the way. My toes and fingers are not enough to these countless people in my life and they just add up every year. Life is too short, people come and go, they say "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we never ever be the same again"

RESOLUTION

I am not sure if I can do these New Year resolution because I don't have enough discipline I guess to do it. But for the first time I wanted to achieve something in the next year and the coming year. I will start this year and I will try to revisit it every year. I know New Year resolution are not by force but they help us do better in life, help us avoid the mistakes which tried to hold us back in the past. That is why I just wanted to:

* Have more faith

* Read more books

* Eat good food (Healthy one, less meat, more fruit and vegetable)

* Listen more to good music

* Be more grateful (7X7X7) to attract positive vibes

* Play more

* Be more patient and understanding (Specially with my children)

* Learn Mandarin (hahaha near to impossible)

* Attend more training and seminars (on personal and financial aspect)

* Less mindful to negative people and more attentive to positive one.

* Exercise more (hirap nito need lots of encouragement)

* Find more reason to be happy

So "don't count the years, make the years count" and everything will follow.

Number 1 Rule: Self Discipline

Christmas is fast approaching and I think just in time to do some posting about self-discipline as part of my instalment article on the strategy on how to pay off debts (quite busy this past few months). The first step or strategy of paying of debts as I mentioned on my previous post about PAYING OFF DEBTS was Self Discipline before you even start paying your debts. December was the most celebrated month of the year because of Christmas time. I remember my mother used to decorate our home on the first day of the BER month and my father never goes home without bringing big lantern after a month of working far away from his family a month before Christmas. How we celebrate Christmas in the Philippines? If my friends only knew how much I miss Christmas in the Philippines, because Christmas season is the most awaited celebration for us Filipinos. It is the best of the year for us who worked abroad, and those who migrated to other countries to visit and spend holidays with their love ones.

One thing I miss about Christmas in the Philippines was the Christmas bonus and thirteen month pay, as employee then I am looking forward to this on Christmas time because I know a lot of money coming my way, meaning I can start making list of how to spend my Christmas bonus. I believed then, that so many are expecting to received something from me and it will be a great disappointment to them if they couldn't receive it (me and my malicious mind). But do you know that nine (9) out of ten (10) regular employees, that after Christmas they will add up more debts than their previous year even though they receive two (2) or three (3) times more than their usual salary during December. Why? because the scenario was like this, though they receive more than their expected salary, they will spend more than the money they received during the bonus month and this is the usual mistake most of the regular employees. Been there, done that, I even borrow money just to satisfy my self, believing that it's just once in a year that I was able to give, to make the people around me happy, just to feed my temporary happiness of gift giving, just for the sake of Christmas season. I fail to realize that Christmas is not only during December, that Christmas is with in our hearts all year round and it depends on how we wanted to celebrate it everyday. That after holiday I left nothing but debts and I will start the new year with lots of stress and negative vibes.

When my husband and I started to learned how difficult life was specially when you have nothing but debts, I decided to put my feet on the ground and started to analyse the situations, to be subjective to everything, to put reason on every action. Thinking what is more important, is it money, gift, or friendship and my families future. So on the first Christmas that I didn't made a list of names and things to buy but rather debts I need to pay, a lot of words came out, some are hurtful, some are rather judgemental. Yes, it is true that there is no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. It was indeed painful when you heard someone calling you madamot (selfish), kuripot (thrifty) in front of your face. I endure all of that because I need to start my life in proper order specially in terms of my financial aspect, instead of spending my bonuses by showing off to those people who doesn't even care. Looking back now I can tell that during those time I also learned who are my real friends because they supported me all the way.

So this holiday season be discipline enough to think before spending, be wise before borrow money just to have something to give. There's nothing wrong in giving it's one of the best attitude every person must learn and have but make sure that at the end of the day you will not end up crying because you spend more than you can't afford (just a little trick, just make sure you spend with in your means). As I always say this to my children "helping others...by helping yourself first" for how can you be able to give if you don't have something to give right. Happy Savings and have a fruitful life.

Paying off debt

I am not a financial expert, I am still on the process of learning on how to be financially literate. After all of the roller coaster I had with my husband in terms of our financial aspect I have learned to appreciate and give back not because I am financially capable now but because I know how it feels to have nothing. Though part of our culture was even though you help people in so many ways but they still don't know the word appreciation and satisfaction. That is why I am trying my best to use this blog as a venue to impart to them what I have learned in terms of financial aspect. I wanted them to experience the overflowing of blessings I have now not only financially but in all aspects of life and I wanted them to be financially independent just like us. Though money is not a big factor for happiness (how I wish everyone should know that) but it is one component or aspect in our lives to be worry free specially in our retirement day. According to one Chinese proverbs "Give a man a fish and he won't starve for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he won't starve for his entire life." Last post I mentioned about How to pay off debt, that we need to negotiate and it was one important thing to do. Now I am going to share to you another strategy of paying off debts. Last time my husband attended a seminar about financial literacy in their company and one of the topic was how to pay off debt properly. I told him if we just knew this earlier we were be able to pay off our debts more easily but I think God has a reason why only now that we manage to know all of these things, maybe now is just the right time for us. Below you will see the steps by steps strategy of paying off debts.

* Step 1. Self Discipline & Commitment before you even start
* Step 2. List down ALL your Debts
* Step 3. Identify the MINIMUM Monthly Payment required for
each debt.
* Step 4. Compute the Pay-off Months.
* Step 5. Determine the Pay-off Priority.
* Step 6. Create a complete Payment Tracker Spread sheets.
* Step 7. Be sure to religiously follow step 1. (Self Discipline &
Commitment).

There you go next post I will try my best to discuss one by one in a more simpler manner, I just hope everyone of us will learn from the mistake of others, of our forefather, of our ancestors. How to Get Rid of Debt: Negotiate

In my last post Now or Never I promise that I will tell in details how me and my husband was able to start and get out of our debt. I want to share a lot of things that I knew when we first decided to get out of our debt. We made a lot of mistakes and although we can't go back in time and redo our life again, but I hope that our past experiences can somehow help others by learning through our experiences.

Bo Sanchez suggested that if you really wanted to be financially free Invest, Invest, Invest, but how can you invest when you have tones and loads of credit and debt. This is where discipline coming in. Do you really want to be financially free and get out of your debt? have some goals. My goals then was just simply pay off all our debt before anything else, so what I did was I made a computation on how to pay off our debtor monthly in a way that it was not difficult for us, my husband then already decided to go overseas. Out of worry that he will not be coming back hehehe me and my malicious mind (thank God he didn't turn his back on me).

I was left alone physically with all the responsibility. I come up with a proposal, I made a payment plan with his approval of course because majority of the payment monthly will be coming from him, proposal on how to pay our debtor easily with their consent. Then I negotiate, one thing I've learned when we got into this financial crisis was I learned to negotiate. Some of my debtor became my friends and soon they became my partner in some of my investment. Don't hesitate to negotiate because debtor love to negotiate rather than not paying your debt, don't make your credibility be on jeopardy credentials was far more important than money.

So remember when you cannot pay your debt don't forget to negotiate be honest. After all the negotiation and all of our debtor say yes to our proposal we started to plan the next step which is how to INVEST. How we started Investing? Think and Grow Rich is a motivational personal development and self help book written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by a suggestion from Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie. While the title implies that this book deals only with how to get rich, the author explains that the philosophy taught in the book can be use to help people success in all lines of work and to do or be almost anything they want.

Even it was publish long time ago, several edition was made and it was still a highly respected and well read books. It has sold a millions of copies and always a best seller of all time. According to Napoleon what the mind can conceive and believe can be achieve (becomes our family motto) and that is the real essence of the book. The main character of the book was Andrew Carnegie one of the very successful businessman in America. Andrew Carnegie was at that time this book was written he was the richest man in the world. An immigrant from Scotland with no money and with little education but he was able to worked himself up and became a giant steel manufacturer.

The formula mention in the book is as relevant and useful as it was 100 years ago. Maybe it is more relevant now that internet and information was so easy. People starts to understand that becoming rich is not all about the lucky stars and magic (I used to think that before). That being rich starts with the way we are thinking. The book teaches me to think differently. And if you wanted financial freedom this book is a must to read.

Some of the words that I want to share it with you that I think without my knowledge I already use them unconsciously. Until I've read this book and start to wonder and became more aware now.

1. Every adversity, every failure, every heart ache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit.

2. Great achievement is usually born of greatest sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness.

3. Education comes from within; you get it by struggle and effort and thought.

4. Self discipline begins with the mastery of thoughts.

I once read this poem and according to author it was written out of Think and Grow Rich book.

When my husband and I got into big financial crisis, those few who are close to us and those who devoted their time and money in our first ever business venture can testify what we've been through and it was a total failure , it seems like yesterday. When we fail I began asking my self how to be a millionaire? Is there a way? Not because of any other reasons I just wanted to pay all of our debt. There were so many "what if" in my mind that time. Because we really need to pay our debt but I don't know why. What if I have millions right away I can pay my debtor easily. What if my debtor will file legal actions I might end up in jail, what will happen to my children if I go to jail. What if I will just disappear and never show up again what will happen with my work, with my family, my friends (though few remain loyal). Those were all the what ifs that running through my mind several years ago. Yes that was years ago and at that time I thought everything is impossible, thinking that situation will stay until forever, until the rest of my life. But I was wrong, it is true that nothing is permanent in this world. Everything has an end, just like rain the sunshine will appear after the storm, the leaves will fall after the summer and spring will follow thru. Our life is like a cycle full of ups and down, I think God let us experience all the down fall in our life so that we may learn how to do better in life. How to appreciate all the things that we had and we will have. And for us (me and my husband) we learned how to seek financial freedom, we became hungry in terms of financial aspect in our lives seeking how to be free from our debt and how to have a peaceful mind and wanting not to think of how to have money to pay for our everyday financial obligations, and making sure, that part of our life (nightmare I may say) will never happen again. That the million in my what ifs years ago can make it possible. That I can be a Millionaire because it is by choice. We all have a choice I believed and according to one of Bo Sanchez article which I find it so appealing. Starting today I will post articles base on my experience about financial literacy and how I apply it on my personal life. It is my way of telling each and everyone that nothing is impossible just have faith and dream high.

Drink Now or Drink Forever

When I've read this article I thought of why not follow Bo Sanchez advise, nothing to loose because I don't have money at all, after all we were buried with debt at that time. But the question is How?

A lot of people do not know how to start. I, myself been through that process but by determination that I really wanted to get out of the situation that's why I tried my best. Later on or maybe on my next post I will tell you how I started it all. But first let me tell you what is the real problem why people are struggling to get out of their debt but they cannot and this is proven because I was like this before until I've started the curiosity of reading books, articles , attending some seminars because I am trying to look for an answer and I was already fed up with our financial situation.

A lot of people according to Bo they don't know how to handle their money. They spend whatever they have, and it's true, been there, done that. I've been with several people who earn as much as fifty thousand or more a moth and they spend everything. Some few really doesn't have that much of money but still they spend everything they have and much worst they keep on borrowing to loan shark so to speak just to feed their hunger for material things. That's why their money pump remains dry. And they'll remain poor forever. Once I've read this quote and on the day that I decided to change my life I've posted it on my table inside my office. It says "It's not about how much you earn, It's how much you save that matters. Don't wait until the situation becomes perfect because trust me it won't. You have money now. It may be small but you have it. Act now, think on how to take care of your money, decide, after all it's our choice, our life. At the end of the day it's between you and God and nothing else. Teachers teach children to read, write, do math, but more than that teachers are here to teach us achieve something in life, in the future.

Teachers are like parents we consider them as someone who influence us in so many things specially in life. I remember several teachers who really serve as my inspirations and leave some marks on my life. Actually I never imagine my self to be someone in a teaching profession. It was not my decision but I think It was written that I was destined to be in this field.

Just like mothers, teachers try to make their lessons easy to understand. They teach things in different ways so that different students can learn in the way that is easiest for them to understand. Just like our children as a mother, students also have different characteristics, attitude and background. Now a days with internet as an helpful tools teaching becomes more difficult in a ways on how to get students attention. Teachers like to see children learn and achieve something,but sometimes teaching lots of students can be stressful. Teachers also have to deal with children who misbehave.

Though I consider my self lucky because now a days no need to attend a lot of seminar just to learn the methods. Monday Blues

Monday was the worst day for every working people and I am not an exemption to that any more since the day when I've decided to go back working. Except of course if we are going to take it positively. Monday was the beginning of everything in a day it is the day of the week between Sunday and Tuesday. It is the first day of the work week. But do you know that according to the Islamic and Hebrew calendar Sunday is the first day of the week. The name Monday derived from an English Monandaea and middle English Monenday which means "mood day". Blue Monday is name given to a date stated as part of a publicity campaign by Sky Travel to be the most depressing day of the year, and yes it was after the weekends wherein you enjoy every hour of the day. But as what I have said you can take it positively if you want or put yourself in a deep depression (hehehe). For me here are some of the list that I should be thankful for so I don't have to be depress.

I am thankful for this nice weather.

Just this morning as I've read the news paper about the killer tornadoes in some part of the United States (thinking about my family there hope they are all okey). Thirty eight (38) or maybe more were killed and hundreds were hurt so sad to hear that news. That is why I need to be thankful living in a country that is disaster free I think.

I am thankful for clean clothes.

I got all my laundry done this weekend...Ok that is partially a lie hehehe. Though I got most of my laundry done this weekend. But all stuff that really matters is clean. The house floor can say thank you for now they can breathe and no ants to bite them hehe. Actually that pile of cloths are getting big so this was no small feat for a working mother like me and without any household help a big clap for me yeheyyyy(just a part of motivation).

I am thankful for I was able to put decent food on our table before leaving the house this morning.

I am thankful for I have a job to get busy everyday.

Actually the real things I am grateful for today are in a way really reflection of the weekends that I had. Thinking back to how I spent the weekend, this morning really made me realize how much I have to be grateful for. I may not be rich in so many ways but actually what matters most is as long as you earn enough to put food on the table, have a decent place to live, a family you can call your own and a friends whom you can spent a happy and fruitful weekends.

Daddy, Dad, Daddy Yo, Pop, Papa, Ama, Abba, Erpats, those were some of the list a father often called. Me, I simply call him TATAY, He was not the sweetest father of all time or I may say he is not sweet at all. Actually I cannot even remember he hug me all my life or kiss me on my birthday or special occasions. He spank me when I did something wrong. He never tells stories about fairy tales and the knights with shining armor. Sometimes when life was tough then, I remember I even feel how distant he was to us his children.

Growing up I feel the pain that he planted in my heart. I hated all the things about him that I've wanted but he never had and never did. I created my small world feeling sorry for myself and thinking that I deserve a better father than him. College came and the relationships between us never change but I think I mature a little bit because of failed relationship and heartbroken I’m beginning to understand the difference between opposite human being, I’m beginning to learn that you cannot ask other people to love you the way you wanted to be loved. Right after college, Him and Mom decided to go overseas with my siblings maybe he wanted to fulfil some of his dreams and aspirations to his family and I was left out all alone. I hated him a lot more because I blame him for not teaching me how to live on my own, why he didn’t tell me that time comes and I needed to learn the hard way.

I live on my own because I did not have a choice. Trials after trials came, some people took advantage of me but I have learned. Other’s judge me not even knowing the real me. But it’s true that when life knocks you down never forget to look up. Because just like him, my father in heaven never forgets his promises and his love was unconditional. God send so many angels as many as he can along the way, he makes my life in proper direction little by little until one day as I wake up my life was already in proper order because of those angel that he sent.

Yes my TATAY was not perfect he spank me when I did something wrong because he just wanted me to learned from my mistakes, he never hug me so often but he never fails to put blanket while I am a-sleep because the wind was so cold, yes he never tells stories about fairy tales and knight in shining armor because he never wanted me to believe in false hope and false romantic relationships. That life is not all a bed of roses. That life isn’t easy but it’s all up to you how to make it worthwhile and happy. He never tell us that he loves us but those simple act of kindness like he never leave us when life was tough and not perfect between him and mom, yes he was distant because he was just trying to hide his emotions because he doesn't want us to feel the burden that life brings.

Now that I have a family and children on my own I am beginning to appreciate him and misses all the things he did in action, for now I know that action is better than words because he never fails to show that he loves us not in words but in action because he's a true blooded male species, Man of few words. I love you Tay, Pagaling ka, I miss you and Hope to see you soon. Magkukwentuhan pa tayo at maririnig kopa ang wala kamatayan mong sagot na sa tuwing tatanungin kita via phone kung kumusta kana simpling sagot pero makabuluhan “heto buhay pa” na ibig sabihin salamat sa bawat araw na nagdaraan at darating dahil may pagkakataon pa tayong ayusin anumang kamalian at gusot mayroon ang buhay natin. Tatawa ka pa sa mga jokes ng mga apo mo. Pipintasan mo pa si nanay sa mga walang katapusang drama nya sa buhay hehehe. Ingat ka at maaring di ko madalas sabihin ito sa’yo pero SALAMAT sa lahat at huwag kang mag alala dahil nagiisa ka lang sa buhay ko.

Time Each Day

"A human body can bear only 45 del (unit) of pain. But at the time of giving birth, a mother feels up to 57 del(unit) of pain.This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured, all at the same time! This is just to tell you the extent to which a mother loves her child! 'Love your Mom till the end of your life. The lady with whom you fight almost everyday, suffered so much pain just to give you a beautiful life!"

The above statement was circulated on Facebook now a days. Tears begun to fall and I remember how my mother raised us all with her hardship and sacrifices. I know I am not a perfect child while growing up because I also have my own share of tantrums which I guess just normal for every child but neither did I gave my Mother a bunch full of heart ache to endure. But whether I was a good daughter or not, now that I am a mother in my own rights, now I know that being a mother was the hardest profession a woman can ever have. I am not sourgraping or acting as if I have a scorn full of denial because I am unemployed stay-at-home mother as of this time.

It's been two years now since I've decided to give up my everyday working routine, career for others, jobs for all and bread and butter for those who wants to make end meets end. Well actually in my last employment I can say that even though I work hard and stayed in the organization for more than ten years and tried to finished my Masters Degree it seems that it was not enough. I never felt any fulfilment that I am looking for in my life while I was there (well part of human nature no satisfaction at all). It's not that there's something wrong with the organization that I am associated with but sometimes we as human as we grow old it is true that the more we know the more that we become hungry for knowledge, the more that we become eager to explore.

So when I've decided to leave everything behind and go beyond my comfort zone,(I was more of an adventurous type I guess). I've just wanted to know more, to explore more together with my children I want to give them a better environment, better chance to examine every possibility the world can offer because I never had that in my childhood. But God has his own time even though the time is right or not I believed that everything will be given in his time not mine, same as those disappointments turn out to be a blessing afterwards. I know because I experience them first hand all the wrong choices that brings me to the right place and person . And even those people who don't like me and disagree with me can testify how my life twist and turn and came out to be a better one.

How many times did I cry even all my fingers on both hand and feet were not enough to count it all but at the end of the day smiles always came out in my face because something good had happened. I am writing this because in my past years of not working I am a bit disappointed with the outcome of my decision. It's not that I regret everything. I am very much thankful because I have a very supportive husband who would do everything for the sake of his family. Disappointed in a way that how things went by with my children and how people sees a mother who stayed at home. It seems that they look down on our capabilities. Before I decided to quit working, my main reason was to home school them, to give them all the knowledge, good values and proper upbringing. Though my expectation at that time was quite high because I never experience home school all my life and I never knew what home school is all about. Just recently that I imagine after two years of being with them I am not the one who teach them a lesson, they are the one who teach me a lesson.

If I just could tell all the working mothers to stay with their children while their young, well though its a case to case basis but if given a chance just like me don't think twice because me though disappointed but I never regret every single minute I am with them and if I work in the future I am proud to say that once in my life I felt the fulfillment I never had in my life, that part of my existence God gave me the responsibility because he believes in my capability to be a good mother and it's a compliment on my part. So if you are a mother and you were given a chance to stay with your kids even for a short while don't think twice leave all those paper works behind and enjoy every moment of being with them,for allow me to quote this

Trip to Melacca

The most treasured moment I had was our Family Bonding. Not the material things. As we attended the mass yesterday about Forgiveness, the 70 times 7 times. Ya, Ya I know they didn't accept me as their friends (They still have grudges after so many years tsk!tsk!Wait what have I done? I don't remember any, are they guilty or envious maybe, because they never thought, they never thought what he becomes) or maybe they just want to be friends only with big time people. But God knows even though I didn't yet forget their bitches name hahaha. I already forgiven them. I don't have rights not to forgive them with so many blessings that keep on coming. And this trip was one of the so many blessings I received. I enjoy only by watching and I will remember this as long as I live. Thank you my better half.

First Car

We just had our first car, I am a bit hesitant because I am still considering a lot of things, but I know after how many years of being married and all the hassle and inconvenience in life I know and I believe that we both deserve what we have now. I consider having a car to drive, was like a marriage need to be nurture all the time. There will be wrong turn, humps, scratches but despite all of those it doesn't mean that we will stop driving. Our car still needs and deserve to be clean and to be taken care in spite of those injury because it give us so many advantage in life, it was part of our necessities.

Shortly after we are done with our tons and tons of debt, my husband began looking for a car because he believe that it was already the right time since our children are already growing. It's been 9 years since he had his first driving lesson but having a car was not came to reality then because trials after trials never stops. From then on since we cannot yet afford to have a car, he tried everything to ignore the fact that he's dreaming to have a car of his own.

Well we all does, no one doesn't dream of driving their first car ever, even the richest person on earth. Me too I cannot deny that I am mesmerizing every time I saw a lady driving her own car, but because of so many I call it humps in our togetherness having a car became the least maybe not last in our priorities.

Until one day it just happened that we are already talking of getting a car and the internet was always there to look for, to view of what kind of car, what brand and what color. We are so happy just by talking and deciding what color to choose together with our children.

My husband was very meticulous in everything, well that is one of the best qualities I liked about him he knows what he wants and he will not take rest until he gets what he wants. Me I am just the usual "whatever" as long as I have something to use, but not him. Now I can relate that to our marriage and I consider my self lucky, it was like choosing what car to buy when he choose me and how he will going to take care of it.

Most of us prepare for marriage like a teenager shopping for a car. We get sidetracked by how it looks, we want speed, accessories, we focus on what we'll get out of it now but forget to consider the future. We pay no mind to long-term maintenance and immediate gratification. This results in plenty of people getting married without having prepared themselves for the expense and maintenance aspects of the relationship. (That is why I am thankful for having a meticulous husband sabi na pin tsu king kaselan ku so I let him decide on his own).

So now that he already owned a car it was time to take responsibility for keeping it operable and in good shape. And I know he is mature enough because I already prove it in our relationship. He did not reject me when he found out that I need maintenance, he love me, he cared for me, he showered me love and appreciation, he sheltered me.

But how many people are ready to reject a spouse and find a new one as soon as problems arise? Marriage is not a trade-in business like a car. If you want a marriage without maintenance or fun without faithful devotion, then your attitude is immature and unrealistic. In marriage, a husband and wife each acquire a precious gift from God. Each is given a lifelong friend, lover, and helpmate and I just did all I have to do now was to enjoy him, love him and make the best out of him.

‎"What you do not know can't harm you. This is a false statement for what you do not know can actually kill you".

I actually stop for a while and had thought about this, then suddenly something came into my mind to believe in this statement. Then I realized that the reason why war was around the globe was because of some inexperience and immature people, just like the one I know (*Arinolang makisoso king pisasabyan hahaha) that instead of making peace they are actually messing up to make matters worst and we don't have to be professional just to learned our lesson well. I know a lot of highly educated people in government and universities because they are craving for power and attention they forgot what is right and what is wrong to the point that they are already hurting someone's feeling without even knowing it. Been there, done that and I regret all of it, because I work in an environment where most of the people are intelligent in their own rights and I am one of them until I've realize that life was here to enjoy.

There was news about Osama Bin Laden comrades that they are planning to call for additional revolutions in Yemen and Saudi Arabia what for? they are just making matters worst. I kept asking my self why? why they are trying to mess up by adding fire to the situation are they aware of what kind of principles they are fighting for, how many civilian they are hurting, families they are destroying did they know all of these. Yes we have different belief and principle but are they reasonable? Aren't they want to have a world that full of peace and happiness, no war, nor hurt, no loneliness. War means tears to thousands of mothers eyes when their sons go to fight and loose their lives. I am not trying to have malicious intention over this, I am just trying to give my opinion over the matter and hoping that every war in every corner in the world will stop in full period for the sake of our future generation, for the sake of the world we live in. It's just a hope and nothing to loose.

Mother's Day Blessings

Bad news from television, internet, and radio sometimes makes me feel sad and afraid on what kind of world is this that we live in, not to mention personal experiences and encounter with mean and narrow minded people that what they know was just to judge other's people lives. What kind of life my children will be when I am gone. But this mother's day allow me to share you this experience I had with a taxi driver. Maybe out of happiness that he saw little children again with a smile in their face, he freely share his stories to us. As we travel from our destination every word that came into his mount was a big learning experience from me and my husband and I consider it a mother's day blessing that I even felt some tears in my eyes.

He told us that he has 4 children all grown up two boys and two girls. His eldest was 30 and his youngest was 23. All working and trying to make a mark in the society, according to the proud father he told his children to do the right thing, work hard, buy a home a good one, create a family, and then try to have a car if possible, but don't depend on him now that they are all grown up for he said that he already gave them the best a father can give. Good education and a great family only those two things and he said the rest is all up to God. He said that who ever want to own the ancestral home he/she should be the one who will take care of mother.

I cried secretly on this part because it reminds me of this quote that I know I'm one of the luckiest. (“The greatest gift a father can give to his children is to love and respect their mother” ). Then suddenly he pull something from somewhere, an old whistle that he was very proud of. He told us that the whistle was 30 year old same age of his eldest son, he use that whistle way back, every time he goes back from the office, yes he was an executive way back and now that he was retired he own the taxi that he's driving because he doesn't want to depend on his children. That way back he never did some honky funky that might ruin his reputation and his name, because he believe its the only gift he can inherit to his children not the material things. And about the whistle he told us that it's his way of calling all of his children after a long day of working.

Some neighbors condemn him for using such a thing, his neighbors laugh at him and ask him why he is using a whistle, that whistle can use only for dogs or some kind of animal. In the beginning I start to think he was a cruel father, someone whose tough, mean and bad father. But along the way every thing he said was all worthy. His point was these, he doesn't want to shout at his children because according to him their names was precious to his ear, that he love them so dearly that at the end of day during sunset he wants all of his children to be in his side so he can share all of his stories he had all day long and that is his way of conditioning them just like in school, the morning bell when it rings it means the lessons starts. And then my husband ask him what if on the first whistle they didn't follow.

He told us that there are certain punishment along the way if they were not able to explain themselves or if the reason of not coming was unjustifiable (freedom of expression). He told us that children should know the rules, and as they grow old they will learned to discipline themselves so that when it's time to go to college life they are already adjusted to follow rules and know their limitations. He said that college life has a lot of temptation and if a child has a weak principles everything that a parents hope for will be gone like a wind. He still wants to share a lot and we still want to listen more but maybe everything in life has a limit, maybe its already times up like a teacher in every subject he was only limited to one topic per session but believed me that one topic was more than half of my life's learning.

That in my whole life I will never forget that one day God send us an angel in disguise for me to understand that my children are not permanently my property, that one day they will leave me and make their own life to live, that what is important is just to love them and show that you care, the rest is all up to "HIM". As we leave his taxi he told my children to love their parents and just believe in God simple message but with heavy meaning, unforgettable. I believe that my husband and I learned so much from him. That on this day I consider it's the best mother's day ever (thank you hubby). And my blessing doesn't end there because our new neighbors unexpectedly gave us something, thanks also to them for now I truly believed that this world was still a better place to live in. And as I close my eyes and talk to him sure did that I will sleep with a grateful heart and silent mind. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE.

Painful Lesson

Every morning as I wake up, I always ask my self did I make something good for my children, a mark so they can remember me when I am gone and out of this world. From the time that I gave up my career (meron ba hehehe) everyday I became more afraid on how to treat my children properly without hurting their feelings, without hitting their self esteem (I am not use to it but I'm trying). How to make them more responsible, loving and mature individual, now that I am with them twenty four by seven it is more stressful than ever before.

How to teach them not to be too selfish and self centered and just think nothing but only of them selves. Someone who will not see the imperfection of another person and blame others for the mistakes they've done and planning to do in the future. I want them to be someone who must know how to sacrifice their happiness for the sake of others (Painful Lesson in deed). They say that life is a boomerang, what comes around goes around and you will be treated the way you treated others and I believed the same with our children. But sometimes I kept asking my self how come mom and dad treat me very well but here I am, I cannot even hug them to show how much I miss and love them because I am too far from them. I cannot do anything about it but I know mom understands me because she was once a mother just like me. Willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of her children.

I know I didn't have the best parents in the world but I believed there is one thing that I cannot deny that I am indebted to them, life itself for without them I would not have been existed and I know the feeling of giving up your life for the sake of your children now that I am a mother in my own rights. Soon my children will realize that I am not a perfect mother to them specially when they start to do their own life. I just hope by that time they are already mature to love me despite of my imperfections because I believed we all make mistakes, no one was born perfect. That they are going to look at all the good things me and my husband have done for them instead of blaming us on how's life treat them . I know it takes time to become wiser but how come still a lot of children doesn't mature as they grow old. I consider myself as one of them now that I am a mother of three, sometimes I felt guilty of all the immaturity.

The way I reacted sometimes makes me feel like a fool in front of my children but what is important is that as a parent I know when and how to say sorry when I did something wrong. And as a daughter I know how to show love to my parents specially when they needed it most of the times, now that they are old and all their children have a family of their own to take care of, a phone call will do, a simple letter with picture of their grandchildren makes them so happy. I know I argue with them most of the times but it's a fact that as we grow old we became the same wavelength as individual so there are many unavoidable differences and arguments but that doesn't mean I don't love them and I forgot all the good things they've done to me. This is my opinion, it is better to argue and show that you care than to say nothing and as if you don't care. I just hope I can instill the value of forgiving, faith, the attitude of looking at the brighter side instead of blaming others because of what happened to our life to my children. For I believed in the saying that "LIFE is a CHOICE" it's all up to you how you handle it, live with it or else leave everything behind.

Judgement Day

These time and age of modern technology, with internet, cellphones, Ipad, laptop, wireless communication, everything was so fast. We can learn, communicate and acquire things in just a few click within seconds without going anywhere and just by sitting in front of our PC's or laptop. Upon delivery of ideas and news, war, diseases and natural disaster was also happening everywhere like a speed of lightning. Flu virus around the world, war in the Middle East, Libya,Bahrain, and Afghanistan, earthquake in Haiti, New Zealand and a few minutes ago while I am about to write this, some of my face book friends posted that the border of Myanmar, Thailand also hits by 6.8 earthquake that kills 75 people and damage thousand of property.

Earth quake shake our world around which killed thousands of people, while war was man made but it also kills lots of civilian and diseases its unavoidable because bacteria and virus are invisible to the human eye and we can acquire it everywhere without even knowing that we had it already . Some few weeks ago a shocking event was happened which a lot of people cannot believed that it happened, even just by watching it or living in the same place like Japan. Japan was hit by earthquake and mother nature not yet satisfied, after a minute tsunami followed so fast, according to survey it will take 25 years to put Japan in order again, imagine 25 years to build again. But it took only a minute of tsunami that causes Japan to separate into pieces.

Sometimes I cannot help but to wonder why all of this things are happening so quickly in just a snap thousand of people disappear, other said it is some kind of KARMA. This is according to other people's way of thinking, it is a karma to those who are afflicted with disease,and natural disaster and what about war . I don't want to think that way, I don't want to be like them who are not passionate enough, inconsiderate, narrow minded who has nothing to share but bad feelings to those who are being affected. Talking about bad feelings just last week I had a very bad fever, so bad that I cannot even stand to cook for my own food, good thing I had my husband on my side, living in a place far from all the relatives and friend was sometimes quite frustrating and I cannot stop thinking that it was part of my KARMA, but laying on my bed I got a chance to think and internalize everything that is happening around me. It was not a KARMA after all, I've realize that it was part of God's message to me, honestly this past few years, looking back I had so much anger in my heart to the point that I even want to curse the people who cause me pain.

But during those sick days that I felt so powerless I ask God for forgiveness because I assume that being sick is one way to awaken me, to analyze and evaluate my life all over again. I know a lot of people who walk into my life who cause me a lot of pain that I don't want to let go. I believe those anger was one reason why I got sick, it kills my mind thinking every night to the point that I cannot sleep properly so my immune system affected by my sleepless night. And it kills my heart because I always feel heavy every time I think of them. So after that bad fever I told my self to let go of everything. Life is too short with in minute I can be struck by tsunami, or thunder or lightning or even disease that is incurable. I don't want to die with a hurtful heart and I believe same goes with everybody else. Everything that is happening around was not a karma, it was just a God's message to us all. Nothing is permanent and secure except God. I don't believe in end of the world but I rather want to believe that each and everyone of us has it's own end and judgement day.

1 Corinthian 4:5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
