The training was necessary because I found it nearly impossible to learn the software on my own adequately. Here are a few things that I discovered during this training:

1. I found that I was farther along the learning curve than I had thought.

2. My initial suspicions are strengthened ….. that the program’s quirks and conventions are the result of too many disconnected developers. These quirks are maintained because FM’s user community has drunk the Kool-Aid.

3. And finally, that if I am serious about a carreer change to Tech Writing, I need to stop complaining and drink the Kool-Aid since Framemaker is the only game in town.

GULP. GULP, GULP.

I will be blogging about my immediate goal: to learn Framemaker. I also intend to put Tracer Sportfishing Charters up for sale, and to that end, I will be using FM to document the business.

Thanks to my fine instructor, roundpeg’s Matt Sullivan, (http://mattrsullivan.wordpress.com), I think I am well equipped to start this journey.
