new year's rockin eve

we had a fun new year's eve! we started the day off watching the utes game at ginni & paul's house {go utes, by the way!} we ate a bazillion treats and watched our team win in OT. then it was off to red robin for dinner, followed by a star wars marathon at my parents house, and then sparkling cider and horns at midnight. we're crazy party people!

i've been lucky enough to get to chill with this little girl all week.
{please don't make me go back to work on tuesday! please don't make me. PLEASE?!?}
i've loved being able to cuddle her, play with her, feed her, go on walks with her, read books to her, watch mickey do the hot dog dance with her, and all the other fun things mommies get to do. heaven.

we had such a wonderful christmas this year. we started the day off bright and early with 9:00 church. it was a great meeting full of musical numbers about our savior. perfect way to kick off our christmas day!

we went home, got all comfy in our pj's and went to my parents house for the rest of the day.
we had our traditional breakfast caserole & sticky pecan buns. yum!

christmas eve {2011}

i just love christmas eve. love love love it! everyone is so happy and giddy with excitement for christmas day. every year on christmas eve we go to crown burger {random!} & a matinee movie with the peterson possey.

we showed up at crown burger, and to our dismay it was closed. what the?! we had to move the party down the street to the training table. still very delicious, but how dare they disrupt our christmas eve tradition?! we all survived though, so i'm over it i guess. then we went and saw the cute movie "arthur christmas"
i really liked the bits & pieces that i was able to see. i was nervous to bring moo as this was her first theater experience
{besides last christmas when she was 6 weeks old and slept like a little angel the whole movie}
needless to say, we were out in the hall for the majority of the time. little girl has the attention span of a 1 year old :) sheeesh!
we'll probably not be taking her to the theater again until christmas eve 2012!

she sat still for about 10 minutes during the opening credits with the bribery of popcorn. after about a handful she's done though, and wants to walk up and down the stairs 4.2 million times.

then we headed over to my parents house and had marley open up her christmas pj's from us, and a gift that jerelyn moffitt dropped off. ok real quick about jerelyn...she is way too nice and spoils marley rotten! she got her this cute stocking with her name on it, and then some clothes and a hat tucked inside.
marley is one loved little girl and is lucky to have such a great monday babysitter :)
anyway, i thought she'd go nuts ripping the wrapping paper, but she didn't seem to care too much.
i think she'll understand a lot more of this christmas thing next year!

after i got marley down to sleep we had the mangum extended family party at my parents house... and of course i didn't get any pictures cause i'm just a slacker like that. it was a fun night catching up with my cousins and aunts & uncles though. i'm a lucky girl to have such amazing extended families on both my mom and dad's side.

then it was time for me to scoop up my sleeping babe and take her home to her own bed and wait for santa to come....

but after a little bribery i think she warmed up to him a teensy tiny bit.

in her defense, he wasn't the most jolly saint nick in the world.
maybe she'll be a little more excited about this whole santa/christmas thing next year.

we went over to my parents house and tested out our gingerbread decorating skills last week. we started the night off with some yummy soup in bread bowls and ate way too many treats as the night went on. as always, a fun night with the fam!

i love christmas time simply because of all the traditions, family time, music and excitement!

every year since i can remember we've taken a drive down christmas street & bible street in sugarhouse. this is my old stomping ground so it's especially fun to go drive past our old house and reminisce.

i love this tradition because i'm nice and toasty warm in the car :)

i owe a huge THANK YOU to my cousin, kelly! she has been nice enough to watch marley for me on thursdays for the past few months. marley has loved hanging out at their house and playing with cute little breckyn. you can't really tell from this picture {cause she's so skinny and gorgeous} but kelly is about to have her 2nd baby...so she'll have her hands full and won't be able to watch moo anymore.
{luckily glen doesn't have class on thursdays this next semester so he can be my thursday babysitter!}

thank you so much, kel! you were a lifesaver and we appreciate you so much!

marley ate her first pickle the other day, and she actually loved it! i know this picture may not appear that way. but she was chowing down and would randomly stop and make this face, and then keep on taking bites! i was almost in tears from laughing so hard at her. babies rock!
*next step...we'll have to hang out with her uncles matt & greg and teach her to throw pickles at pedestrians! :)

i love this silly little girl soooo much! it's so much fun to play with her and see the simple things that make her happy. i was putting little pieces of string cheese in her mouth yesterday, and she would take them out and put them in my mouth instead, and was so dang proud of herself for feeding me. she would clap and laugh and want to do it over and over again. i just love her sweet little personality.

there's something strange in the neighborhood. i'm thinking of calling ghostbusters. my sweet little happy girl has been transformed into a kicking, screaming, temper-tantrum-throwing toddler! what?! i thought she was supposed to be two before the "terrible two's" began? well she's getting a huge jump start on that. girlfriend is just an over-achiever i guess.

it's like armageddon if she hears the word NO. we're talking full body tantrums here... looks like she's having a seizure or something. it's actually quite comical. glen and i can't help but to laugh at her because it's so ridiculous and dramatic, but that just makes her more mad. i guess i better saddle up and get used to this though, cause i hear the tantrums probably aren't going to stop any time soon. good thing she's so freakin cute!

it's hard to believe that this sweet little girl can throw such a fit, but trust me, she can.
don't underestimate the drama queen in her.

but seriously moms, what the heck do i do about these tantrums?
laugh at her?
get mad at her?
time-out? {too young for time out? do they understand time-out at 12 months?!?}
do nothing?
pray?
scream and cry along with her?

festival of trees

we went to the festival of trees yesterday {along with the majority of salt lake city}
it was a good time, minus the swarms of people and the lack of parking places and the road rage. we won't go into those details.

em em bo bem made a tree with her students at school as a charity project. they did such a great job! i was seriously so impressed... definitely one of the best ones there. way to go, bem!

time flies. it seems the weeks & months just melt away (it's december tomorrow...what?!)
we've been having fun hangin' with our cute little lady. she is such a joy!

here's a peek at our last few weeks via the cell camera...

girlfriend loves the bath. she is a splashin' fool - and not just with her hands... she now pulls herself up to stand, and then stomps on the water with her feet.

marley loves popcorn! it's so adorable. she'll watch tv and eat popcorn just like she's an adult. doesn't even look at the bowl... eyes are fixed on the tv as she's taking one piece of popcorn at a time. i love getting in our pj's, turning the fireplace on, pulling out the blankets, and watching cartoons with my babe!

i guess all kids must eat pet food at one time or another. marley's time was yesterday. she took a bite, spit it out in her hand, and then gave it to maverick. i'm relieved she didn't like it and am hoping it was a one time deal. i won't go into details about how my dad used to feed me juicy, jiggly, smelly, disgusting, canned cat & dog food. on multiple occasions. i've been scarred for life and would like to shield marley from that kind of pain and embarrassment.
kidding, dad! i'm sure i'll get over it soon :)

when i was little i would name my stuffed animals after the city that I got them in. for example: my dad got me a little stuffed dog when he was in chicago on business once. i decided to name the dog tippy because that was the name of my parents old cat... so he was named tippy chicago. then i got a teddy bear in jackson hole and liked the name sarah... so guess what the bear was named... sarah jackson hole. i still have both of them today. and those are still their names. they can't be shortened.
i was so excited to pass my animals on to marley! she seems to like sarah jackson hole so far. she's so sweet and just kept cuddling and laying her head down on the bear, which is bigger than she is, by the way. made me so happy to see her loving my childhood stuffed animal :)

i've probably kissed marley's forehead 10,000 times. every time i hold her on my hip i kiss her cute head. so now when you ask her for a kiss, she'll lean in and lower her head down so you can kiss her forehead. it's so freakin' adorable i just about die every time. she's a princess, and if you're lucky she'll allow you the honor of kissing her head. she's so kind to her loyal subjects!
i'm sure she'll learn how to give real kisses soon, but i'll always remember and love her sweet forehead kisses.

my little sweetie had her one year check up the other day. i was surprised when the doctor told me that both of her ears are infected! she hadn't been grumpy or fussy at all, so i had no idea. mom of the year award right here. i felt so bad that she's been sick and i wasn't helping her get better. but she's on antibiotics now, so hopefully those ears will be better soon!

anyway, she's perfectly happy, healthy, and cute as can be! it's so fun to watch her grow and develop and learn. after observing her for a minute the doctor told me she's a very curious girl and wants to check everything out. ummm yep, i've noticed...i live with her! she definitely wants to look at/touch/eat/lick/chew/push/pull/throw everything she sets her eyes on. she keeps me on my toes!

she's obsessed with standing. she pulls herself up using anything she can get her hands on, but then is pretty wobbly and falls on her bum and cries. and then gets up and tries again, and again, and again.
*notice her bugs bunny bandaid. girlfriend got 3 shots and was a champ!
*also notice all those dvd's behind her. yep, she has discovered them and enjoys pulling them all out and throwing them across the living room resulting in a mountainous movie mess. heaven for a one year old!

12 month stats:
22 lbs {74th %}
30.5 inches {88th %}

she can say mama, dada and uh-oo. i'm not sure she really knows that i'm mama or that glen is dada. but she does know what uh-oo means. she actually does a preemptive uh-oo. she'll be holding an object, look down at the ground, say uh-oo, and then drop said object. not really an accident if you say uh-oo before you actually do anything, but it's adorable.

she loves to dance when her toys play songs. when any toy goes off she'll start shaking her little bum from side to side. i'm obsessed with it! i push every button on every toy so that she'll dance for me. i love that booty!

marley cracks me up every single day. she makes me smile and is the light of my life.
i don't know what i'd do without her! i'm so grateful she's mine :)

yesterday we had marley moo's big birthday bash at my parents' house.
we had soup & bread sticks, chatted, and watched marley smear frosting all over herself. nothing too extravagant, but we had a great time!

one year

one year!
it's 11.11.11 and my baby is one year old today. how did this happen?! i really think someone's math, or the calendar, or something is wrong... she can't already be a year. i swear i was just in the hospital having her. time flies way too fast when you're hanging out with such a cute little girl.

one year ago today i was still pregnant. one year ago today my water broke as i was asleep in bed at 1:15 am (weirdest feeling ever!!). one year ago today i grabbed my bag and anxiously headed to the hospital with my hubby. one year ago today i was in labor for 15 hours and was completely exhausted. one year ago today i met my sweet marley marie and my life changed forever.

we got pictures taken last week of marley for her big birthday tomorrow (how the heck is my baby a year old, by the way?!) and decided to jump in a few with her and try to get a family shot really quick.

halloween {2011}

we had a whole week of fun halloween festivites!

we started it off with my work party at classic skating. this was the only picture i got cause i was trying to take care of this grumpy strawberry. but i loved sami & megan's costumes!

then on saturday night we had a little par-tay at mom & dad's house complete with chili {mac & cheese for moo}, breadsticks, cupcakes, donuts, pumpkin carving, a cute baby...and we topped it off by watching hocus pocus. pure awesomeness!

boo at the zoo

we went to boo at the zoo on saturday with miss moo. i still don't think she really cares about the animals, but she has fun just being outside. i didn't put her in her costume because it's hard to buckle her in her stroller with it on. but it was fun to see the other cute kids {and adults!} all dressed up.

being pushed around in a stroller and held all day is exhausting!

this picture just was not workin out for us. she was hitting me in the face and kept sliding down the rhino. maybe next year she'll be a little more coordinated and we'll try it again!
