weekend at the cabin

we headed up to the cabin after christmas for a few days of fun. glen had to work, so i packed up the girls by myself and headed up the canyon with my fam. we had a blast just hanging out, relaxing, napping, eating, sledding, playing games & reading magazines. perfect!

we braved the cold and went and saw the zoo lights. it was snowing, and sooo cold, but we had a great time! marley was such a champ. she was all bundled up in the stroller and enjoyed looking at all the lights and animals. fun family night!

christmas {2012}

glen had to work all day long on christmas. boo! so we did our big christmas with our little family of four on christmas eve instead. so on the night of the 23rd after the kids went to bed, we got everything all ready. presents were wrapped, breakfast was cooking, stockings were hung, and santa clause came!

when we got marley up in the morning, she just wanted to play in her room. glen was all set in the living room with the video camera going, and i could not get her to come down the hall with me. little stinker! finally after a few minutes of calling her name she decided to grace us with her presence. she was a little confused when she walked out and saw everything, but got excited pretty quick and started to run towards her loot. i'm mad cause these pictures turned out a little dark and blurry, but oh well i guess. it was so fun to see how excited she was!

she got a kitchen! she is obsessed with it and cooks me 100 meals a day.

she loooved opening presents. she honestly didn't care too much what was inside, she was more interested in just ripping the wrapping paper off. but she was excited to play with her new toys and food for her kitchen. she immediately wanted to taste her plastic ice cream cones.

well then on the real christmas day i took the girls over to my parents house while glen was working.
we had to get our annual picture on the stairs, of course.

greg, amanda & matt got some pretty sweet adult onesies. nerd alert.

we ate some yummy sticky buns & egg caserole. i look forward to this breakfast all year long!

santa left a stocking for us at my parents house too, so marley knelt on our new box of diapers (yay!!) to check it out...

she then decided to do a christmas plank on one of her presents (don't ask me why or where she came up with this?!)
we were all laughing so hard... everyone had to grab their cameras to snap a pic.

ugly sweater party

every year our peterson ugly sweater party gets a little uglier. not sure how it's possible, but everyone keeps outdoing themselves and bringing their ugly A-game. it's really evolved from "ugly sweater" party to just plain old ugly. i'm so proud.

glen worked really hard this year. he wanted that trophy pretty bad! well his dedication paid off and he was pronounced the ugly winner. i think that's a good thing?? anyway, he was pretty happy about it.

and in case you're wondering...he shaved off the hair from his chin and glued it between his eyebrows with rubber cement. sick.

i'm mad we didn't get a better picture of the two of us than this. this was snapped quick on someone's cell phone, and i'm crying cause i'm laughing so hard at glen's nasty outfit. anyway, there you have it. we look good.

well not everyone was ugly. em bo bem looked rather cute with her hair all who-ville-ish.

we played some fun "minute to win it" games, thanks to steph's planning. everyone had a blast! in this game greg & em had to make snowballs out of paper and then have a snowball fight... whoever had the most snowballs on the other persons side after 60 second won. greg took home the prize for this one.

we took the kids to trolley square to meet the most amazing santa clause. he was so great, and there was NO LINE. we'll definitely be going back there next year.

marley was in awe. she just sat and stared at saint nick.

i don't blame her. i think he's the real one.

she was not a fan of sitting on his lap, however. i guess she prefers to admire him from afar.

we rode trax downtown to eat at the lion house and check out the temple square lights.

i loved loved loved it and definitely want to make that a tradition.

then we walked over to city creek and looked at the candy windows outside macy's.

foot surgery. version 3.0

i have the worst feet in the world. period. not even debatable. ok maybe it's debatable, but they're definitely not the greatest feet out there. i had my third foot surgery the end of november, and it was not pretty. my doctor said it would be no big deal and i'd be walking within a few days. he said i could work 5 days after the surgery, and life would be fine.
well that man is a liar.

i wanted to die. i could barely move for 10 days. percoset did nothing for me. too much pain. seriously, kill me.

i couldn't do a thing around the house, which is a little difficult when you have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. glen took off a few days of work cause we were thinking i'd be fine by the next week, but i freaked out when he had to go back and i still could barely crawl down the hall to get myself to the bathroom...let alone even think about taking care of the girls. so us 3 ladies packed up some bags and went to my parents house for the next 5 days until he had a break again. what would i do without my mom?! seriously a life saver!

anyway, i guess we all survived the ordeal, but it was not fun! i do not recommend foot surgery to anyone. i'm glad it's over with though - hopefully my stupid foot is fixed once and for all!

i'm on some serious drugs here! but i loved cuddling with these two.

i made glen help me get the christmas tree up before my surgery so that i could at least lay on the couch with a good view and get in the christmas spirit :)

in case you wanted to vomit, here's the foot a week after surgery. my bandage was wrapped too tight and caused all of this skin to die and scar. like i need more scars! totally awesome. i was in so much pain 3 days after the surgery...major throbbing with sharp pains up my leg. i was throwing up cause it hurt so bad and was starting to have a panic attack because the percoset wasn't even touching the pain. like, serious panic attack. couldn't breath, freaking out. glen called my doctor who told him to loosen my bandage a little bit. instant relief. ahhhh! i'm so mad i have this extra unnecessary scar because the freaking bandage was wrapped too tight, but oh well i guess.

this is where i lived for a solid week. marley brought her entire room of toys out to play with me on the couch. the house looked like a bomb went off!

i don't think i bathed for 4 days. i didn't even care. i couldn't move. all i did was sleep and take drugs and then go back to sleep. and cry. and vomit. i was really thinking i might have to shave my head at one point. i could not brush through it for the life of me. and i wore this shirt for 3 days before i realized it was on backwards. yep, good times.

poor lucy didn't have mom to protect her from her big sis. luckily she's a champ, and marley isn't too rough with her. marley just loves to share her toys and play with her. i'm sure luc appreciated it.

i did enjoy all the cuddles i got with my little ladies. that was the one bonus of this whole ordeal!

i took marley on a little mother-daughter date to a place called bouncin' off the walls. we met up with my friend, kim, and her cute girls and had a blast!

they had all sorts of bounce houses and obstacle courses, but the big slide was our favorite

i can't believe my little marley turned 2! what the?!

time needs to sloooow down cause my babies are growing up way too fast.

anyway, i love this spunky little 2 year old with all my heart. she's so funny and sassy and makes me laugh every single day. don't know what we would do without this little lady!

we went to jungle jim's on her birthday, which she ended up hating, so whatever

she was somewhat happy on the carousal, but it was all downhill from here...

after the sob-fest at jungle jim's we headed home for her minnie mouse party!

well here's the rest of our september, in a nutshell...

marley is the sweetest big sis. she loves loves loves to feed lucy her bottle.

she always just wants me to hand lucy over to her.

she's become a tad bit jealous of the new babe, and has decided that maybe she wants to be the baby again...

she climbed in the car seat one day and was yelling to me to come do the "BUCKLES!"

she's just a teensy bit too tall...

we've been having lots of tantrums lately...

not sure if it's the "terrible 2's" or the fact that lucy has stolen a little bit of her thunder...

my baby brother is going to be a missionary. sheesh, i get one brother home and then the next one leaves us. i really am so happy and proud of him, but i'll miss him like crazy!

we always have a big party with all of our aunts, uncles, cousins, friends {you get the picture}...

everyone comes over to watch you open your call. well matt's call came in the mail on halloween day, so he decided to wait until the next night to open it. he wanted everyone there and figured people would be out trick-or-treating with their kids and it would be hard to get our whole group together on halloween.

so this bad boy sat on the counter for about 30 hours just waiting to be opened...

the suspense was KILLING me, and it wasn't even my call!

can't open a mission call without a bunch of cookies and junk food :)

everyone was a little emotional because that is the exact mission that jesse was called to also. small world! matt said he knew that's where he was going though. he said on halloween day he was driving and he just had an overwhelming feeling that he was going to sweden. he tried to brush it off because that would be crazy, out of all the missions in the whole world, to be called to jesse's. but he just knew. so i don't think he was too shocked when he opened the envelope. just a little shocked that he was right!

halloween {2012}

i love halloween!

i love all the decorations, the costumes, going to see the witches at gardner village, the parties, the candy... i just love it all!

this year it was fun to dress up two little girlies. marley was superwoman - or supergirl, as she would say. and my lucy lou was a little pea pod.

we went to a party at the gallivan center and saw some pretty great costumes. some people go ALL OUT! my favorites were the cast of beetlejuice, and the tim burton alice in wonderland peeps. amazing! maybe someday i'll be an awesome mom and have my family all match in fabulous costumes. maybe. probably don't hold your breath for that though.

we had our annual work party at classic skating the night before halloween for all of our patients and their families.

i got all dressed up and went to get marley up from her nap to leave for the party... i was kinda hoping i would scare her {i'm such a nice mom} but i opened the door and she just said "hi mommy!" i guess this isn't too far off of what i normally look like??

i am lucky to have the most mellow baby on the planet. love this little lucy lou of mine. i seriously needed her to help balance out the craziness of her older sister {who i adore, but wears me out!}...

it was a serious challenge to squish this big costume into the car seat. i was being lazy and didn't want to unzip it and take her out of it, but after all was said and done that probably would have been easier. oh well. she was nice and toasty for the drive home.

this was the first year we took marley trick-or-treating and it was so much fun! at the first house she didn't dare to go up and pick out a candy, so i did it for her. the second house she timidly walked up to the door but still didn't reach out to get a treat. then at the third door she walked up and took a piece of candy from her own bag and gave it to the lady at the door. too cute! she was excited when our neighbor said she could keep her candy and pick another one from the her bowl to keep.

we only went to about 10 houses and then headed back to my parents house for some soup and to hang out for the rest of the night. supergirl kept sneaking to their candy basket to get more treats.

i'd say for a 2 year old she did just fine...

p.s. i threw the majority of that away the next day. i don't need the terrible twos + a crap load of sugar.

glen had to work the graveyard shift in the ER on halloween night and was supposed to dress up. he needed something he could still actually work in though, so we came up with this.... can you guess what he is??

hope everyone had a spoooooktacular halloween! that was cheesy. sorry.

i decided to be induced a week before my due date. i was miserable and couldn't take it any longer! plus we figured it would be nice to have it scheduled and be able to get a babysitter for marley and make sure glen had a few days off work. so we dropped marley off to my mom and off to the hospital i went on september 7th at 2:30 pm. i thought my labor would be a lot faster the second go-around. i had heard that you could basically cut your labor time in half from your first baby... even my nurse in the hospital was telling me that. well nope - i was still in labor for 12+ hours. but hey, it wasn't so bad... i had my epidural flowin' and glen and i watched the utah football game while we waited for our little lady to join us. i was hoping lucy would be born early enough that marley could come meet her that night. but as it got closer to marley's bedtime and i was still only dilated to a 4 or so, we realized that she needed to go to bed and she'd have to come see her sis in the morning. finally at 2:00 am it was time to push... and 54 minutes later i got to hold my little lucy babe!

2:30 am on saturday and greg is passed out in the lobby waiting to meet his new little niece.

she's finally here! 2:54 am - after 12 hours of labor and an hour of pushing.

it's about 4:30 am by now and i'm exhausted... but so happy to have this babe in my arms!

my poor babe was really really jaundice and had to stay 2 extra days in the hospital. i hated the fact that she had to have this awful IV in her head and i couldn't just cuddle her all day. she was in the nursery under the lights and we could go visit her every couple hours for me to feed her. the hospital was really great, though, and let me stay in my room for the extra 2 days at no charge! i didn't have any nurses or meals brought to me or anything, but i was able to hang out and sleep there so i wasn't having to drive to the hospital every time she needed to eat.

her bilirubin levels finally came down enough that we were able to take her home!

we had to get a bili bed and continue to put her under the lights at home for a few more days. it was really frustrating, but i'm glad we have the technology we do these days!
girlfriend just needed a good sun tan i guess :)

utah state fair

we love the fair. what can i say. call us white trash, but we love the people-watching, fried foods, giant turkey legs, world's smallest woman & largest alligator, sliding on burlap sacks, etc.

what's not to love?!

i was scheduled to be induced on september 7th, and the fair was running the 6th to the 16th. well we decided we couldn't miss it so we spent my last night as a pregnant lady waddling around at the fairgrounds. marley was in heaven and had no idea that her world was about to be rocked the next day!

we took marley to jungle jim's for her last hoorah before i have this baby next week and her world is shattered.
she has no idea what's about to hit her!

her facial expressions were cracking me up.

she really was having fun, but half the time she was mean-muggin.

i was expecting her to completely freak out on the roller coaster since it goes kinda fast. but every time she came around she'd have a big smile on her face. she's such a big girl all of a sudden. what the heck?!?

she was very focused driving the jeeps.

i hope marley had fun because i'm not sure how many more outings like this i'll be up for after i have this baby... for a little while at least. but she needs to soak up every last minute of being the center of everyone's attention before she has to share the spotlight. i have a feeling she's not going to be a happy camper... but let's hope she proves me wrong and loves her little sister like crazy and isn't the least bit jealous!

seven peaks

we enjoyed some fun in the sun at seven peaks with the peterson possey the other day.

i have the most awesome cousins and am so glad we're such good friends!

we had a blast floating in the lazy river and splashing in the wave pool. that's about all i can do with this huge prego belly...but i'm sure marley wouldn't want to go down the big crazy slides anyway, so it's all good!

we were able to be sealed together for eternity in the salt lake temple as a familiy on 8-18-12!

it was such a special experience and marley did so great and behaved herself {shocking!}

so happy :)

she's obsessed with flowies {flowers} right now and had fun having grandpa smell practically every single one on the temple grounds with her! silly girl.

best family ever! thanks to everyone who was able to come celebrate with us!

we were done taking pictures and stepped off the little platform,

but marley just climbed right back up and wanted more...

she then started jumping up and down for joy :)

it was so dang cute... glen & i were dying and were glad we still had the camera out!
