This Thursday, 25th April, is Anzac Day, a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, originally commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.

ANZAC Day now goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who have served and died in all wars, conflicts and operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
(Australian War Memorial)

This Thursday, take time to attend a ceremony or pause to remember and acknowledge those who have served and died for our country.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
